Don't tell me you just outscooped the local media again. That's the first I've heard of it.

CaneSawMassacre

86 we should try and work out some sort of bowl game bash if we end up in Florida or Georgia..

What you think?

86Cane

If U can't be Tiger, U might as well be The Shark.

Loco

But it's the same shyt, slightly difference size and speed.

Like I said, THANK GOD WE AMERICANIZED THIS JUST LIKE WE AMERICANIZED THAT CORNIEST OF ALL SPORTS....CRICKET.

Posted by: Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer | December 03, 2009 at 01:45 PM

Actually, you're the one that avoids the points and attacks me personally, so I'm pretty sure I'm not the one that's "cornball"

Also, its nothing like hockey. Soccer is like hockey, but without the hits and with a lot more actors.

And saying its the same but with different size and speed is like saying high school football is the same as the pros. Its not. At all.

When you decide you want to have a proper discussion, let me know. But you don't get to dictate right and wrong and make up the rules as you go or use slanted arguments with twisted logic. That may work in grade school, but not here

86Cane

CSM...I am ALL in!

CCC...ESPN just broke it LIVE.

86Cane

Solier Pants...I got a "package" today. Thank U! Check email later tonight for follow up on that other thing U mentioned.

The Shark has gotta go eat, back later...

CaneSawMassacre

Alright.. I have a contact with Marriott I might be able to work something out, hoepfully I'll have enough time with the bowls being announced Sunday.

From there, I could only make it to ATL, Orlando or Jacksonville.

But I want to meet up with the whole crew again and JSQ you best try and make it with some jello shots.

Allen Iverson crying at a press conference? someone must have told him he had to attend every practice.

bg1906

Listening to Coach Shannon on WQAM and he was asked how he felt about FSU getting Gator Bowl bid. He said if I speak on it I'll get in trouble! He doesn't like it at all but said he has no control over it. If not the Gator Bowl, he'd like to go to the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando.

CaneSawMassacre

See BG people were saying Shannon shouldn't care. That is ridiculous.

Ofcourse he can't speak on it because he could get fined but Kirby should certainly be speaking up for his University and threatening the ACC with separation fromt the league due to unfixable damage done to the University ( I dunno making that up LOL)

CaneSawMassacre

BG was there anything else interesting said?> I couldnt' find the interview posted yet. If you don't mind.

Darion Hall update

Tommie Robinson took an in-home visit with him yesterday and he remains a Cane commitment. He will visit West Virginia, possibly weekend of Dec. 12, and Miami. It's going to come down to those two schools, but for now he does remain a soft commit. And he's not graduating early anymore.

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Posted by: Canez1 | December 03, 2009 at 10:35 AM

He's a goner.

CaneSawMassacre

Because he doesn't want to come in and compete or can't qualify?

His only other school is WVU - that usually means his grades are the kiss of death.

And shouldn't there be some sort of investigation on how WVU can get any kid into college that they want. I mean I understand their standards are lower but don't they still have to have standards? It is just crazy to me that kids who can't get into any other school in the country make it into WVU.

Cat 5 Cane

Almost... Has there ever been a word that means absolutly nothing, like the word almost?... I came so close, I could almost smell it. I almost won! I almost got laid!... I almost got the job I've been waiting for all my life!... What a lousey word to mean nothing in the end.
Do you promise to pull it out... too late but I almost did...lol

CaneSawMassacre

I almost understood your post Cat5... LOL! What the heck are you commenting on or referring to?>

Cat 5 Cane

Oh well... back to football.

WE almost beat Clemson and NC!

Out

JCane

Darion Hall has been rumored to be no better than a soft "commit" for a while now, and I think he's likely not coming here, too, for a variety of reasons. Fortunately the RB position isn't exactly an area of huge need as long as the rest of the rb class stays intact.

An interesting guy mentioned for 2011 is Kelvin Benjamin, a Glades Central WR who is 6'5", 210 lbs (which, per Solar's interpretation means he is really 5'9", 160 lbs). His top 5 includes the usual suspects, the big 3 of FL and the big 2 of schools where grades in any form aren't necessary, UTenn and WVU. Glades Central is often a tough pull for the U, but we'll see.

On the hoops end, looks like we'll soon get through our tour of S. Carolina schools, having already played S. Carolina and SC Upstate, soon to play SC State and later to get Clemson.

orange 'n green in the vein

I have no respect for crooked Bowden, his ill-begotten knockoff of UM program, or his trailer park trash fans. The co-eds are all skanks, the Native American Mascot is a white guy in orange-face, and the Gator Bowl is a arm of the insidious conspiracy to reward this man's mediocrity and senility. And a big, preemptive, "F' YOU," to the fraud replacing him as well.

I don't think he'd be interested in a total rebuild. That's a young man's job. lol

To me, Whip's having fun with his family, with this team and what's upcoming, and then he'll be able to pick and choose between CFB and NFL.

Personally, I think he wants the NFL OC. It would make the most sense

I'm thinking of starting a recruiting site that gives 6 stars just so my guys will be highest rated in the country

CaneSawMassacre

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well we are making a hard push for one of the TOP 10 recruits in the country and if things go as planned he will be visiting in two weeks. That should cheer you up till the official news breaks.

Anybody know whom this alleged recuit might be? Seantrel Henderson/// is the only one I could think of. As he is considering UM and UF for his final visit and Bryant Mckinnie has apparently been chirping in his ear to visit Miami.

canechic

Canesaw I do not think so.

Beavers are hot and have taken the lead.

solarcane

UVA has probably contacted half the current OC's in the country, Whipple's name is in there only because Richt wasn't fired along with the rest of the dawgs.

Canechic you naughty naughty women... Beavers are always hot, just not always looking so hot without proper preparation, warm-ups, and attention to specific details.

Looks like the Beavers are getting gashed by Masolis legs and arm.

canechic

Ducks give right back to the beavers!

RBLCane

Do we know if he even wanted it? He has a pretty good gig at Miami right now. With the current and incoming talent Miami has at the RB position, Robinson will probably be a good candidate for an HC or OC position in a year or two. The guy that left LSU, Larry Porter, jumped from being the RBs coach to HC at Memphis. I would think a promotion, not a lateral move, would be the kind of gig that would lure Robinson away (unless he was secretly unhappy or something).

BTW, I didn't know this, but Robinson is highly regarded guy! Check out this blurb from FootballScoop.Com:

"LSU: Les Miles will now have to replace running backs coach Larry Porter, who has accepted the head coaching job at Memphis. ... It will be interesting to see if Miles trys to lure Syracuse running backs coach Stan Drayton, Miami running backs coach Tommie Robinson, or Tennessee wide receivers coach Frank Wilson. Drayton, Robinson, and Wilson are three of the most respected assistant coaches in the profession. Robinson coached the running backs at Oklahoma State in 2001 when Miles’ served as the head coach...."

(SOURCE: http://www.footballscoop.com/?cat=24 )

GO CANES!

RBLCane

*highly regarded guy OUTSIDE MIAMI.

CaneSawMassacre

I'm not saying Storm Johnson's not a great recuit but his highlight film on rivals wasn't overly impressive to me. If we were going to take a back instead of D.Hall I wish it would have been J.Gore.

That kid was a true playmaker. Has anybody seen any different film on Storm that is better and a LINK PLEASE???

solarcane

Erickson cans Olson, maybe Coker will get him

peace

CaneSawMassacre

LMAO off I think they are exaggerating a tad bit.

Some of the most respected assistants in the business? I mean there are only over 500 assistant coaches in division 1 alone. I'm sure most coaches are respected by theier peers.

The fact of the matter is ... If he is such an amazing coach how come he hasn't been anything more than a position coach for the majority of his experience? I mean he could just aspire to be a RB coach, or he knows what he is good at; but the majority of coaches that I have known who were position coaches wanted the chance to be the one calling the plays or the one calling the shots.

Nashvillecane

If Hall bails could that open the door fore Gore??? You guys in so fla... Who's the better back Gore or Gainer??? It would seem to me that the staff would be all over those guys from central but Godfrey is the only one with and offer??

CaneSawMassacre

Perfect throw by Masoli, hit that guy in stride. WOW terrible bump and run by the DB.

CaneSawMassacre

That white boy WR for Oregon can straight run...

404Canes404

Did that make it better?

CaneSawMassacre

How do you know 404... I mean I know Gary said he thinks it is an extremely long shot but have you heard anything else or are you speculating.

CaneSawMassacre

I'm not a big fan of Gainer. He is talented but to me we have several backs with his skill set already.

Gore has the best vision, acceleration, burst, balance, footwork and speed among the backs in SouthFlorida and probably the state.

2 knocks on him
1. size/weight
2. running between the tackles

404Canes404

I said what you wanted to hear, and I was speculating...

No worries, he has a Ship on his mind and he knows he is in the best seat for the ride. Long term OC for us? Probably not, but most of our history shows that we don't keep them very long anyway, BUT we keep them long enough.... JMO

Nashvillecane

CSM are u in the 305??? If so wats the word on Lemonier (sp??) I saw were his last official is to lsu

CaneSawMassacre

ON the offensive side of the ball does anybody know of a successful offensive coordinator who stayed at one university for a long time? Somebody who was constantly courted.

RBLCane

I'm sure a lot of schools want The Whip but I doubt any of them are offering a position that interests him. He might be lured by an NFL OC position on the right team or a HC position at a big time program, but NOT ANY job at UVA.

An NFL OC position might be thrown his way once the NFL season is over--you never know--but I doubt any of the big time programs would want him right now since there are plenty of other candidates out there this year. If and when the Canes make it to the BCS next season--that's another story.

GO CANES!

CaneSawMassacre

I am in Tampa but I was born in the 305 and constantly head back there for my wife's family and my secondary family (weird word but my grandmother/aunt/ cousins all live that way)

Apparently Lemonier is stil interested in Miami. He will not be taking an official to Miami from my understanding but he has attended a game or at least a few practices. He definitely likes Miami and has interest in playing for the home team, but he wants to do what is right and make a smart decision based on all criteria. Which I prefer to a guy like Nix. His coach has said he will likely make a decision sometime in January and once he does make a decision that will be it. No games from him.

Now with that said. I think he is a bit undersized but I would take him. If get Lemonier I def. move Dye to TE. I'm desperately considred with Sanders and Gordon there. I even see the possibilty of moving M.James there for some snaps next year if we can't find anybody. Almsot like a stronger, faster, better blocking T.Johnson.

CaneSawMassacre

The main thing for Lemonier is he really feels that Miami's defensive ends are young and amazing and he isn't sure where he would fit in.

Which is very honest and open about his situation. It is werid that the coaches hhave more confidence in his ability but the kid is very raw as far as untapping his true god given athletic ability. I feel he would cetainly be a R-S candidate and likely wouldn't see significan't PT until likely his junior or R-S sophmore year. Which a lot of kids just don't understand they will likely do anymore no matter what coaches lie and tell them about how much PT they are going to get.

Lurker

Anybody here the exchange between Craig James and Chris Fowler.

Craig was chiding Erin Andrews for using the word "decimal" earlier in the day when she should have been using the word "decibel" to describe the loudness at the game. Fowler sounded a little ticked off and said something like "hey why did you have to bring that up live during the game" or something like that.

Nice going, Erin. That UiF education is really working out for you.

Nashvillecane

To me these are the kids this staff can't let get away...I under stand that out of 100 D1 prospects in dade u can't get them all but I feel Shannon and co have to get atleast half of the top 30 or so.

86Cane

"In the air tonight," Collins, LOL. Very nice there 86.

tortugacane

Article = Totally cool. Pics = Nice 86.

canesteeler

The Beavers game is more interesting than watching the Jets and Bills! With the recent allegations coming out is Magino a candidate for any job openings? I think no school will touch him right now!

tortugacane

BTW 86: U are stepping onto my waters or should I say... swimming onto water ways.

RBLCane

Quick question for you recruiting gurus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Miami only has 3-5 more schollys to give out. However, Miami is still aggressively recruiting a BUNCH of recruits.

My question is, what happens if we end up getting more commitments than schollys available? Is this even possible, and if so, what could Miami do?

Reason I ask is because there are currently a bunch of recruits Miami is supposedly in the running for: Michaelee Harris, Christian Jones, Brandon Linder, Lemonier, Lemonier's team mate Calvin Smith, Ivan McCartney, Chris Dunkley, Ego Ferguson, Jason Weaver, Chase Ford, and a few other OL and DL.

TIA!

GO CANES!

Nashvillecane

Yeah they 23 commits and only can have 25 for this yrs call...but they can over sign let say up to 27-30...but if they have 5-6 enrole in January then they can count toward last yrs class and player that transfer like marve, cook and cannon smith...last yr ole miss signed like 37 guys but they didn't all count toward that same class

RBLCane

Thanks NashvilleCane!

86Cane

The beavers are having ball control problems. At least that's what I heard?

CaneSawMassacre

Apparently Boss MAn Shannon said to Don that they could possibly sign 30 something in this class.

I wouldn't doubt it.. I except a few dudes to be shown the "greener pastures" of Memphis or some other lower D-1 Transfer safe house. Symonette, Chambers, K.Robinson, plus all the seniors and maybe a junior heads out to the draft.

miamimike01

CSM,

NO WAY Whip takes the job in Charlottsville. His kids are at UM and STA, he stays for a another couple of years.

UM takes Linder, Ford, Harris, and another one or two, b/c we have another couple who will probably de-committ.

Richmond Spiders HC leading candidate to take the UVA job. Butch rumored to be interested in the Notre Dame job, and is on their short wish list. Charlie Strong leading candidate for Louisville.

Next post on Louis Nix...

RBLCane

You guys think any WRs will transfer, especially if Hank stays (or if we sign 1-2 more WRs)? Davon Johnson is somebody we haven't heard of all season (did he RS?) but who would more than likely be starting at the majority of other FBS schools.

I'm not worried about Streeter and Thompkins... those NW ties run deep!

Chambers will go, especially with all the RBs coming in.

CaneSawMassacre

Who is Ford MiamiMike, I'm sure I know.. Just drawing a blank.

Also Miami who do you see as the impact freshmen from this upcoming class who can make an immediate impact.

Everybody is saying there is not that one player, but you know there is always one guy that just steps up as a true freshmen.

RBLCane

I actually want Butch to go to ND. He's the best candidate if you ask me. He's a proven program rebuilder, a great recruiter, and his defenses are always good (which is what ND needs more than anything).

Then again, I wanna beat the phucker!

Maybe we could beat him as an Irish!

miamimike01

Ford is the JUCO TE...

I think Chambers and D. Johnson stays. We might have one or two leave, but it would surprise me.

Coop, I'm telling you, is thinking about jumping. Wouldn't surprise me if he left.

Nashvillecane

I think chambers stays..he showed flashes wen healthy...move Robinson to fb/hb he has off skills out of hs...IMO transfers never look good

Loco

And I made a very lengthy exposition of football's overall superiority in my FIRST reply.

Points that you continually dodged and never answered.

So cut that corny after the fact BS and move on...

Posted by: Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer | December 03, 2009 at 09:00 PM

You made your points. I responded in kind with mine. you avoided responding to mine, and instead chose the "i'm better, you suck" method, which is the sure show that you have no idea what you're talking about and have a shallow argument

Nashvillecane

Coop ain't ready IMO...he still goes down too easy

CaneSawMassacre

I think a player like Davon might be able to grab a spot a cornerback.. He was actually reall good at CB in high school and him and B.Harris could lock down both spots... The BTW Tornadoe connection.

I hope he doesn't go because despite him being caught in this WR rotation, he is an exceptional athlete and we need to keep as many as possible.

The thing with Chambers is he can't remain healthy. He is not a bad back but now we have too much talent to just give him carries to be nice.

CaneSawMassacre

Can somebody find a pellet gun and end miserable Lou Holtz and The Scooter so we don't have to watch either talk football ever agian.

Nashvillecane

I agree bout dj...just think if shields was able to move earlier in his time at um how much better he cudda been...dj has similar skillz so the move cud be sumtin they are thinkin bout

miamimike01

On Nix...

According to the Florida-Times Union, Nix takes plays off, doesn't work hard in the weight room b/c of his God given size, has motivation problems, the depth chart concerned him.

Forston, Porter, Regis, Robinson, and Lewis ahead of him scared him off. Plus, ND's defense is poor and he thinks he can walk on campus and start. UM also stopped contacting Nix; it had been a month since he talked to UM coaches, according to the paper.

UM coaches had second thoughts on him, and it worked out that they didn't have to pull the offer. Bad politics.

UM's class is going to be fine, and I think we'll pull in some fine athletes.

CSM:

Storm Johnson is the MAN! Being compared to Edge coming out of HS. Miller, James, Berry, Johnson, and Chambers. Quite a stable.

86Cane

instead chose the "i'm better, you suck" method, which is the sure show that you have no idea what you're talking about and have a shallow argument

Posted by: Loco - for gifts visit www.cutco.com and email me | December 03, 2009 at 10:45 PM

Loco...I agree. That is his usual MO. He comes across as smarter than everybody else but his arguments are beyond weak and he can't debate on equal ground without launching personal attacks. Sad, very sad.

Loco

If anybody leaves, its chambers. But I don't think he will, he stayed when shawnbrey left and I think he knows better than anybody that shannon likes to use many backs. Plus, he's a RS sophomore, came in the same year as Damien but didn't waste a year not playing defense.

Davon Johnson probably stays because if he's smart, and he hasn't left yet so i think he is, after next year several spots open up. Hank will be gone and probably benjamin, or byrd, or aldarius, or any combo will be as well. Plus, he got RSd too, which those three haven't.

CaniaK aka True Canes

I certainly hope that whip stays with us, another year with him could do us wonders. I want him here

RBLCane

That punch NEVER gets old!!! Hilarious!

miamimike01

There is a new rule about transferring if you have one year of eligibily left. If Chambers leaves, it has to be after the bowl game, or else he's stuck. Same for D. Johnson, or anyone else who wants to leave.

miamimike01

No longer can a player transfer with one year of eligibilty left.

I needed to make that clear.

Hank, Bailey, McCarthy are staying. Not sure about Coop. He's been quiet about it, which makes me think.

RBLCane

HOLY CRAP! LaGarrette Blount is back!

Not sure if a rivalry game is the best venue to bring back a guy with a anger management problem, but he probably learned his lesson. At least it's a home game.

Can't stop that State of Florida talent!

miamimike01
