Today in Orlando on International Drive not far from the maddening traffic jams of Theme Park tourists stranded on I-4 was a small piece of Magic. And it had absolutely nothing to do with pixie dust or Disney.
We found UM President Donna Shalala in town and ready to get down and party to the beat of the UM Band of the Hour. We chatted a while, she gave me a Canespace card and then took this photo:
At a location known as Point Orlando in the heart of the I-Drive corridor the University of Miami and the University of Wisconsin held a bowl game pep rally to get the coaches, players and fans ready for the main event: The Champs Sports Bowl.
Here the cheerleaders are doing something that looks like it is fun and dangerous all at the same time:
The UM band and cheerleaders were on hand to get the party started. As you might expect, they began the festivities with some of the traditional Hurricane cheers and songs that had the crowd ready to rock.
Next up was none other than UM head coach Randy Shannon. Shannon encouraged the fans on hand to go to bed before midnight, show up and SCREAM at the game tomorrow. He ensured us this would produce a victory.
Here Shannon spends some quality time with his favorite Canespace blogger, 404Canes:
We then heard that they actually gave away a trophy for this big bowl game event thingy-dingy. So we went to find out what it looks like and we were told repeatedly by many people that this is it:
Then things got crazy. I'm talking Badger crazy. We met these nice people at a bar near the event and the result of our encounter was that we fell in love with the Beavers, I mean Badgers once again (look all the way to the R):
Next we went out to get some fresh air and that is when we found a "suspicious looking rodent type dude" hanging out and so I sent 404Cane to take a photo and then we immediately alerted security.
Well after that we were way tired so we then decided to leave the event. That's when I asked myself what all Canes fans do at a time like this: What Would Randy Shannon Do (WWRSD)?
I soon forgot about that and then asked myself: WWCFD? What Would Cat Five Do? And that's when I got an idea, and then this happened:
Now U can see why U should listen to Randy Shannon and NOT Cat5...

That one hurt. I thought we might pull one out at the end. Oh well, that's who we are right now. We ran into a classmate of my Dad's at halftime and he gave us his tickets right behind the bench on the 45.
Jacory was standing right in front of us and I could not help but notice how heavily wrapped his throwing hand was. I thought that injury was healed? Oh well...
Damien Berry was wasted tonight. There was no excuse for him not to be utilized more than he was tonight.
The recruiting class should be stellar, but this loss will linger. On a happier note, the # 1 recruit in the country has decided to open up his commitment now that Meyer is working the late shift over at "The Waffle House"! He is a 5 star DE named Shaw out of Cali, and he said that USC and UM are on the top of his list. I would think that UM might have an advantage given the problems at USC right now. Lord knows we could have used a better pass rush tonight!
Go 'canes!

Incorrect information. They guy you are talking about is Ronald Powell not Shaw. And those are just RUMORS. I wouldn't put too much stock into ANY of them.

Getting caught up on reading all comments and as usual, enjoyed 86's article and nice pics!
Go Canes next season!
Oops, need to mention: The U might just want to consider getting rid of Shannon. What coaching and strategy was that? Never been a big fan of Shannon, but I still have supported the U... but I am just sayin...
