It was a cold and gloomy night. The rising moon peaked out between the low, hovering clouds and glistened on the surface of the dark waters of Tampa Bay.
Three miles off the coast, in what looked like a simple shrimp trawler the warriors prepared to unleash their evil plot. With faces covered in camouflage paint and their weapons locked and loaded, they readied themselves for the dangerous mission behind enemy lines.
Hardened by previous battles and strengthened by months of practice these soldiers were anxious for action.
Frustrated by years of failure, their plan was to hijack the ACC Championship game and steal the trophy that they could not win on the field. But in the end it was not to be. At the last minute the plan was aborted when orders came down from General Shannon back at the Canespace Command Center and the warriors were ordered to stand down.
Miami would have to wait another year to win it on the field and then secure what has so easily eluded them: The ACC Championship.
OK, OK, so Tom Clancy I am not, but I was at Raymond James Stadium for the ACC Championship game in Tampa last night. Surely that must count for something, right?
While your Miami Hurricanes have yet to play in much less win an ACC title they were certainly watching as one team they beat convincingly (#12 Georgia Tech) and one team they lost to in overtime (#25 Clemson) battled it out for the title of 2009 ACC Champion.
The Yellow Jackets had to get a push start to get their offense going but once they got their motor running they would outlast and outscore the Tigers 39-34 in an offensive showcase for both teams.
As you can see from the photo above, these young ladies were going "all in" and after a short chat had me absolutely convinced that C.J. Spiller was a thriller. And he was! Number 28 for the Tigers was nothing short of spectacular once again as he collected 301 all purpose yards and scored four touchdowns. Spiller put on another performance that almost assuredly will have him among the top five candidates for the coveted Heisman Trophy.
Then I wandered over to the Tech side of the stadium and found these two young ladies effectively advocating for Georgia Tech's plan to use Head Coach Paul Johnson's grind it out, ball control, option offense to try to keep the ball away from the dangerous Spiller. While things did not quite go according to plan, the Jackets managed to generate enough offense and score enough points to overcome the Tigers' primary weapon. Well we can't all be right, right?
But enough about them, let's talk about us. So here it is: In 2010 Miami will not only play in the ACC title game but will win their first ACC crown. That's right, I am predicting it even before the 2010 recruiting class is signed, before Spring practice rolls around and way before the next football season even starts.
Yeah, I said it! Now, somebody vault that.
86, like I said and like CSM said, if you take care of your business at home it's the same as it's always been.
Just like politicians are the same as they've always been. Worthless POS.

The storm for next year's championship is brewing already. This young team will not forget this bowl slight for the likes of fswho! They will be out to prove something to the nation starting with this bowl game. Wisconsin dead man walking! The entire program should be pissed about how miami consistently gets the shaft in the acc and be ready to rub their noses in it next year like a bad dog.
Posted by: fmcane | December 07, 2009 at 10:24 AM
CSM, they're not cocky, they're downright delusional. They lose a ton of seniors and maybe a few juniors.
But when we say nothing but a NC matters, isn't that cocky/arrogant and whatever else??
The fans, it seems, are as delusional as the players in their reaction to that beatdown.

Posted by: CaneRock | December 07, 2009 at 10:30 AM
And while are y'all whining about the ACC. Who gives a fuk? You'd really rather play WVU than Wisconsin??
The bowl selection makes since from a bowl perspective because they want to maximize ticket revenue and TV revenue. So given the constraints and commitments it more or less makes sense.
Miami stays in FL and a Big Ten team comes south, something north-midders love to do anyway in the middle of their long, dreary winters.
All we want is a beatdown. I don't care who it is or where it is. If our boys feel slighted by the ACC you can bet Shannon's going to use it as fuel and the players should play with a mission.
And after watching the U they damn well better have a chip on their shoulder.
Posted by: Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer | December 07, 2009 at 10:31 AM
Then we wouldn't have to worry about the shady neighborhood, since we would be rolling 10-15 deep.

We will have that and then some.
WE GOT THIS!
Posted by: 86Cane | December 07, 2009 at 10:31 AM
FM, that's exactly the attitude I hope they take, seriously take it personal and play with a personal mission and chip on their shoulder.

Cav - I don't care about the matchup. I like Wisconsin better then I do WVU. It is about principle.
FSU wouldn't even have made a bowl game ten years back with that record and the NCAA had set-up rules so that things like this didn't happen, but the ACC contract stepped outside the ACC bylaws and you get sh*t like this.
If I had my choice of matchups I rather have beaten down USC at the Emerald bowl, then watch us against WVU or Wisc. but that is just my opinion. Do I like the game in Orlando, YES because I can watch it.
It is just downright wrong that you take the LAST, shall I say it again. The LAST bowl eligible team from the ACC pecking order and put them in the #3 slot. It defies the whole purpose of even putting pecking orders on the bowl game at all.
Phuck it, aside from the BCS game all bowl games should be chosen on monetary gain alone... No conference tie ins, no rankings, no conference rankings. Just let it be a free for all, so the likes of Missouri always, despite their record get to play in the Sun Bolt Bowl, In Who Gives A Flying Phuck??

Games are set , The Gator Bowl says it has the most compelling matchup in the Bowls system. what plabet to do they live on in Jax? theycouldn't even fill Dope Staduim (my bad Doak) He thinks people all over the country will watch this one. Most of Bobby's ontemporaries will be in bed for nap time by them. Wat a frigging Joke the Gayturd Bowl is and always will be. Very provincial.
I guess when Illinois fires Zook next year they will want a 4-8 Ilinois team cause it his last game, they can invite 8-4 Florida since it was the last place he coached.

At "The U" movie screening on 12/9 that Canespace will attend there is going to be an "orange carpet" where media types will get to take photos and meet the players and coaches attending the event.
Should be fun!

That's crazy that people are slamming doors and stomping around. It's one loss! You're 12-1 going to a BCS bowl game. If only we could be so lucky this season! I'd trade our season for theirs any day of the week.

Also, who cares about getting slighted for this bullshat bowl, from here on out we're only fighting and concentrating on 1 bowl, and that's which ever bowl they're playing the championship in.
This team is going to rest up and than start going to work real soon, believe that. january is right around the corner for the early enrolles if any, and the rest of the team will start preparing and working out as things progressed and we'll be right back on track.
And say it again cav, we don't care who we playing, we just need to dominate whoever shows up, peri-AWD. After next saturday or whenever the team gets a chance to see this video, hell had they made this video before this season, would have been real interesing to see how this team played, after this season though, guys are going to start gettign on the younger guys to improve.
That'll help a guy like bradon mcgee out a whole lot, if he plays close to what brandon harris did this year, we're going to have a nice secondary back their. The way brandon harris played that fade route in he Fsu game after they called that bs pass interference penalty on him was perfect, they tried to treat em like he was shorty on that played but he grew up from last year.
Next up, brandon mcgee, what you got, than we got guys like jamal reid comign in next year, watch out, we got a lot of talent in the hole waiting to start busting heads open. jamal reid to me plays about as smooth as ed reed was back their when it came to picking off passes. Our turn-overs will go up come next year on defense all over the place.
If nothing else, depth should be way up and knowing how to keep the team healthy and fresh will be alot clearer from a coaching standpoint. As far as team camraderie is concerned: CHECK, work ethic increased: CHECK competition up: CHECK productive players leadership up: CHECK
While everybody is thinking they're playing good football, just wait, even if we went undefeated this year, we more than likely don't make it to the big dance or it would have come down between us and texas, which actually we might have been in it, next year it's all business though.
The direction of this team is perfect, and damien berry could actually have the best statistical season of any runningback at UM ever, like mcgahee did, berry is a threat to go for long yards almost every time he touches the ball, watch out come next year. He's definitely the goal line back out their.
The playamkers are back on offense, missing 1 orson charles, other than that, this next group of runningbacks, and we all know this to be true, if damien berry picks up his blocking, he'll be the clear cut starter over coop come next year nless coop just comes in and has increased to a home run threat almost every time, but that distinction will go to truth miller.
ANd cat5, don't worry man, i had ab down as an LOF shaprton might have seen that an stepped his game up once he realized if ab is his LOF that means i'll be on the bench and the rest is history right now. ab will make plays come next year and it'll be fun watching his development, this staff so far has down a decent job of molding guys, next year is what ab came to UM for and it's his time, as the old saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water BUT"

Imagine if howard schnelly was the coach here, he'd realy try and stomp the hell out of every college in the state just to make sure they understood, forget about it. shannon is on a mission as well, time will tell. howard gets you hype just listening to em, he belongs at Miami as well, like they said, had howard stayed he would have at least 7 or 8 championships by now, maybe even more. The only reason i'm bringing this up cause i know he's goign to be in the "U" documentary!

MM01 and I are very happy to be going to the Champs Bowl, it is our Christmas, go Canes beat Wisconson. What Gator Bowl? Where? Who's playing, the trashy Seminoles and the WVU sofa burners? Should be very compleling! WVU a 14pt favorite? Thats generous.

Again I get what people are saying, "The players and coaches shouldn't be thinking about any Gator bowl, there focus and intesity should be crushing Wisconsin and finishing this season strong, and preparing for 2010 championship."
I'm talking about the whole bowl system in general is garbage and it needs to change. Even taking out UM several teams got screwed as they do every year. It is stupid.
Done with that argument for now. I'm sure I'll be back to gripe about it in some facet again next year.

Great article by Lebatard in the Herald.
Shannon should bring it with him to every recruit's parent's house he reaches.
Especially this paragraph. "Truth is, though, Miami's single greatest crime was being the first, not the worst. Urban Meyer has had 27 players arrested for real crimes in his brief time at the University of Florida, and it isn't even any kind of unusual because we're numb to it now. Twenty-seven is an enormous number. It is more than were ever arrested at UM under Jimmy Johnson during the most rebellious years. Heck, that's more than Johnson had arrested with his crazed, coked-up Cowboys. And it's obviously a lot more than the single one arrested during Randy Shannon's tenure now. "

Actually the Gators have had 31 arrests with this latest Dunlap incident. Hey maybe he was just late to class at Alachua County correctional U. The teacher had to come and wake him up for class, guess it was quite there in G'ville that night, they abviously knew where to find thier star student.

This is Jefffann from GT Raycom Blog. You dont have to me convince me about the Canes. They will be stout next year. :)
I went to down to Miami and saw the Canes firsthand do by far the best job of any team playing the Jackets this year.
Good Luck and beat the Badgers, we'll see if we can give you a better game in Atlanta next year.
