Rugby "highlights" from the 2009 world championships. If ever there was an oxymoron.

After watching this you'll have no questions about why we transformed this sport into something American.

and you say I avoid arguing points? You go and find the AGE GRADE highlights for ONE MATCH. You found an UNDER 20 match, congratulations. I could find a high school football game up and accomplish the same thing.

And then you next move on to attacking me, my thoughts, and my values, including taking something that is clearly a JOKE. Guess what, you don't know everything about politics, ideals, or anything else.

You want to see a real rugby highlight video, try watching professional and international matches, NOT matches for KIDS.

Good point CSM. Agree. Go Canes!

Matt Drudge

I was just agreeing with canechic that if you can't stop sleeping around. DON"T GET MARRIED!

Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | December 03, 2009 at 08:51 AM

Let me ask you this question. Under what authority can you say this? In other words, who are you tell others what to do? Just because it is not palatable to you? Is it because the society frowns on it?

You've got to do better than that.

CaneSawMassacre

Well I won't get into my religious beliefs and affiliations.

And our main point was one significant other cheating on somebody else in the relationship and justifying it by saying it is natural.

If two poeple want to get married and be swingers that is their right as well and I really don't care if they do it. But you can't justify mulitple partners as a natural thing when we know innately it is wrong. My beliefs about marriage and activities is based on my religious beliefs, but I also have a fundamental belief that humans have an understanding of what is right and wrong. Now as a society we have found ways to continue to push these boundaries and cloud the lines for our own guilty pleasures but I liken unlawful wedlock to that of other sins or transgressions. Do it if you want, don't justify it by comparing us to lions, jack rabbits or primates.

That is my point.

SuperDuperCanezillaInManilla

We should not be hoping for an ACC rematch with FSU. After last weekend where the ACC went 0-3 vs. the SEC, we need to some out conference wins to restore some credibility to our conference. We should hope that we get to face a Big East or Big 10 team, and hope that we win to give the ACC a legit out of conference win. I'm embarassed that UF trounced FSU, Georgia worked over Georgia Tech, and South Carolina manhandled Clemson. That doesn't make the ACC look good at all.

JSQ

Wow, lots of non-football related talk in the last 24 hours!

I'll throw my hat into the ring:

-There are good women and good men and then there are women and men who are not relationship-material (or even friendship material). Stereotyping an entire gender of the reprehensible actions of a few is just going to make you bitter, jaded, and closed-off to all the wonderful people out there.

-On the whole don't get married/we can't control our actions because we're animals. My opinion is that it's your life and you can do whatever you want - it's between you and your God - you just need to be honest with those you are in relationships with from the outset. It's not just you anymore when you are married with some kids and at a certain point, male or female, you have to think about someone besides yourself and what feels good in the moment.

On an unrelated note, last night a friend of mine was offered to get an autographed football from a guy she has been dating for several months by the best friend of his supposed girlfriend. Re-read. Yeah. That hurt. lol. All set on his autograph, but thanks. BUSTED!

Darion Hall update

Tommie Robinson took an in-home visit with him yesterday and he remains a Cane commitment. He will visit West Virginia, possibly weekend of Dec. 12, and Miami. It's going to come down to those two schools, but for now he does remain a soft commit. And he's not graduating early anymore.

GO CANEZ!!!!!

reggaebob

I. i figured martinez was out at georgia, that D has looked really soft since 05. he runs a lot of zone, and when your D line isnt crazy good in the SEC its not going to work. i dont know why people wanted him here... Richt on the other hand i think is a very good HC. He recruits well, personality for athens and usually has solid teams, i may be the only one here thinking he brings them back up to double digit wins soon. On the other hand, say he never leaves 8 wins (which is now mediocre, since the canes have 9, obv...) i really hope he doesnt become an OC in the acc, then we'd be screwed...

II. Chip kelly is not as good as everyone thinks if this holds true (from ESPN)...

3. If Oregon wins the Civil War on Thursday night, the Ducks’ Chip Kelly will become only the second coach in the past 33 years to reach the Rose Bowl in his first season. John Robinson of USC did so in 1976, followed by Larry Coker of Miami in 2000. Only Oregon State stands in the Ducks’ way. The Beavers, on their last visit to Autzen Stadium, won their first game in Eugene in 14 years.

reggaebob

i didnt even realize he (i think maisel?) got the date wrong, it would be 2001 season (or in 2002)...

For several years, a man was having an affair with an Italian woman. One night, she confided in him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born.
To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write "Spaghetti" on the back. He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.
One day about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife. "Honey" she said, "you received a very strange post card today".
"Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later," he said. The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white, and fainted.
On the card was written:
"Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti.

Three with meatballs, two without

Send extra sauce

Ha Ha Canez1, as I said at the outset I am arguing philosophically.

Daytoncane

i wasn't going to get into the Tiger debate, but im seeing a lot of stupid comments.

first off, any dipsh*t knows that it is just plain wrong to sleep around on your wife/girlfriend. most of us guys on here have girlfriends/wives, so what if one of your Canespace brethren were sleeping with her?

as far as im concerned any person that cheats on a significant other that he/she legitimately loves is a piece of sh*t. if you're the type of person that just can't keep it in your pants then you shouldn't get married. the same applies to women.

and who decided that monogomy wasn't normal or natural? it was our generation. it's funny that since our generation is having relationship issues we consider the sanctity of marriage and relationships taboo rather than the norm.

20 and 30 years ago this problem wasn't occuring as frequent. their generation was fine with it, so what does that say about us?

Texascane

"Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is the same."

okay not to offend anyone and i do not condone this etc. but i thought this was fitting

No offense, but I'm not going to argue with you on philosophy and whether being honest with people is better under a utilitarian perspective or not lying to treat someone as an end unto his or herself under a Kantian theory. I have a philosophy degree and I don't debate on my off time because that's my job and I do enough arguing as it is.

I think lying and cheating on people sucks and you shouldn't do it. That's it. I stated my opinion, as did everyone else, and you either agree with it or you don't. No big deal. We don't have to show off all our fancy "book learnin'" about moral relativism, etc. Let's talk about football.

LOL JSQ. Its not book learning. Unfortunately, it is reality for so may people. "Lying" and "Cheating" suck? LOL. That's what most of us do on different levels! What I am pointing out is that we selectively say it is ok to do on somethings and it is not ok to do on others. But, anyway, onto football.

From a personal perspective, I really don't care what Tiger did. He did what he did and he will face up his consequences. I am not even interested in knowing the details. I watch golf at times and beyond the game who cares what he does.

Loco

I'm all for debate, but only when you're catching de fish.

Can we change the channel back to sports?

DTC

What we really have here is a full helping of opinions dressed up as fact or philosophy.

Facts...

Every society throughout human history has developed it's own set of moral/ethical codes. As societies change, so do these ethical codes. It is a falsehood to believe they go in one direction or another. Back and forth over time is more accurate. It is folly to believe that the current "young" generation behaves less ethically than those that came before.

Historical examples: early Romans despised the Greeks for their lack of morality and "decadent" ways; later "sophisticated" Romans adopted many Greek mores and forever fixed the historical image of Roman immorality. Europe in the 1500 - 1700's was very liberal, sexually. Why do you think the Puritans didn't fit in? The strict moral code of the Victorian era was a backlash against the perceived excesses of the 1700's. Combine the Puritan beginnings of our society with the sexual restrictions of the Victorians and that was America until the "sexual revolution".

However, I'd say that plenty of people were doing this and that all thru the past. The difference now is the explosion of the media combined with modern communications (like this blog) AND the fact that society kept things private in the past - it was ok to do things and to know about others (gossip), but was impolite to become public spectacle. Nowadays there is no privacy and all is public.

My personal opinion...morals are best kept a private affair. Let he without sin cast the first stone...

If you are good man, and find a good woman the right way. She is going to take care of you!

I know that is right. I was 24 years old when I decided to move my girlfriend in with me. She is wonderful and we are still living together after 5 years. I can not imagine wanting to or even thinking about cheating on her. My theory is you are either in it for the longhaul in the relationship or your not. If U do not want to commit and want to flirt then DONT get a girlfriend, wife, etc... It makes no sense when I was single I was able to mingle when I made a commitment then I WAS ON LOCK. Just like my girl is she is on LOCK. It is very simple actually but people are too stupid to figure out the formula for a happy life. I have a women who cooks for me, washes my clothes, helps fix things around the house and even prepares my gameday meals. She is also part Puerto Rican/African American so U know she puts her foot in the food she cooks. I am telling U guys who are single IF and when you find the right women, keep her and never screw it up. Thats all I have to say on that subject matter.

All this garbage and the other posts above is trash.. And nobody said we were judging somebody else for their discretions or that we were perfect. All of us said if you want to do w/e, you have the right and choice to do it. BUT for every decision good or bad their are repercussions. If you choose to be a selfish person who doesn't care about other people fine that is who you are.

But to sit back and say that something is acceptable to justify your weak self will and justify betrayal and emotional abuse is just down right wrong.

Just because other people did immoral things back in the days doesn't mean that it was any better or worse. Again, I will compare this to murdering, lying or stealing. The majority of you agree that these are wrong in some degree or another. Obviously most people I HOPE do not go out and murder.

Murders though get an intense high and rush as well as a sickening pleasure from killing another person. It is compared to a high or rush beter then any drug. Does the fact that it feels good justify killing? Does the fact that other centuries, regimes, countries murdered millions of poeple make it ok for you today? Does the fact that some animals kill and attack for fun make it ok for humans??? Some of your guys logic is just insane.

Now if you want to get scientific yes there are certain chemicals that the opposite sex can create in our brain, impulses, hormones or other triggers. The fact that we can differentiate and make a decision is what separates us from others.

And don't say cheating on your wife is different then murder because you can kill somebody emotiionally, ruin their life, create great distress, ruin your family. People who justify irrational behavior with pitiful excuses deserve one word SELFISH!!

Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. I know I have made plenty, but I refuse to let my mistakes affect the lives of other people if at all possible. SOME PEOPLE DON"T CARE AND IT IS SAD!

You guys ever notice what shows are the most popular on television?

Shows with chicks that are cheating, thinking of cheating, talking about other chicks that are cheating, older women trying to cheat with younger men, ragged out older cougars trying to still act young by getting this or that nipped/tucked/implanted

Desperate House Hos, Metamucil In The City (those ugly women are OLD and have been for a while), Cougar Town, Real House Tricks of Whatever County, Greys Anatomy, etc

You don't think those shows basically glorify the crap you see or hear about?

It's funny b/c you hear a hell of a lot of women talk trash about men who go "stick and move", but yet, they'll be running their asses home to watch these shows during the week or DVRing them to death & some try to actually act them out as well

People are people, they'll do whatever they want. Just control your own babystick and hopefully your woman doesn't allow others into her little bermuda triangle as well

Six

Cheating on a guy or a girl is different than murder .. at least you're still alive to move on, ha. Murder, you're literally taking a life. Ya it getting cheated on hurts, but, you can still move on in your life and find other things that are worth waking up each day and being grateful for. You also learn from the experience.

I don't have a problem with bad people getting murdered - my man Dexter does it and I love it (sarcasm, but true, I love that damn show)

Take it easy man. You're getting too fired up about this. You can't control what other people do, you can offer advice, but other than that, you back off and let them live their life.

Huh?

Ya, I'm probably one of the only on here to get excited about it .. that's cool

March 2nd, the Canes will be in Tampa to play USF. You're damn right I'm going to be there

I also saw that the UiF Crocs will be heading down to Gables to play. The Canes owe them some payback for how the season ended last year

LaDamian Tomlinson is a TCU product.

The key for the mid-majors is to schedule the most difficult non-conference schedule as possible and then win. That is what your CANES did back in the day...anyone, anywhere

The BCS schools get schedule credit for playing in a BCS conference - which while isn't always all that tough (see Big 12 North) is generally logical. sorry, but the SEC is tough week in and week out. Non BCS NC wanna-be's have to make up for playing in conferences that are generally weaker.
