K I got one quick thing to say:

Anyone who thinks the Canes are better off with Coop gone are out of their damn minds.

Yes, Berry looks to be the man. But we are a better team with Coop on the roster, hands down.

86Cane

Nashville...thanks bro, live hard, love harder. It's hard work, but good work.

The rewards are worth it.

86Cane

Conch...when was the last time U were wrong?

U are wrong NOW!

conch salad

u really believe that 86? K I will qualify my post with:

As long as berry is the main back, and coop is used to spell/ change of pace, then we are better off with him.

Plus he provides more competition for the other backs to keep them on their toes.

I stand by that... Only time will tell, but u can vault that if u like.

Merry Xmas bro, thanks for all ur hard work keeping this place up. I may not post too often, but I read when I have time.

Been in SW Florida for the last week, looking forward to getting back to Chi town despite the weather. Weather here in SW Fla has sucked. Family has already decided no Florida for the holidays. There was a reason why we stopped coming down here years ago for Winter Break. Next year back to Mexico.

Coop is very good.

The other backs are better.

If he stays, he will lose.

I DON'T want to see that happen to him.

Not bying it. Coop best back on the roster until someone out rushes him.

Ain't happenin. See Soup's post above for the reasons why.

Besides, at this point he needs to make adult decisions. That much money on the table right now compared to who knows what next year is a NO BRAINER.

I'm sure Shannon will give him the cold truth.

also based on this statement wifey must have hit u over the head wit toooo many pots and pans as Calvin alluded to..lol

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Money and Nash, unless he can seriously improve his vision, strength and top end speed, he's going to be in a death-match with Miller, James and Berry.

Right now, his advantage is basically experience.

Next year Berry will be stronger and faster. James will be stronger and faster. BOTH are already stronger than Coop. Miller will be bigger, faster, stronger and better all around.

The ONLY thing in the way of Miller is his pass protection.

Miller and Berry have better vision. James is bigger and can block as well as Coop right now and he might have better vision as well. And he'll be faster next year.

I'm all for him staying for the team but at this point, he's fighting a losing battle.

He's never had a run like the ten or twelve runs Berry has had. He'll never be as fast or have the vision and moves of Miller. He'll never be as big and strong as James.

Javarris would be in the same boat if he stayed, so it's not just Cooper.

Sarasota 'cane

Merry Christmas!!!!

Go 'canes!

I'm wit u money...production over potential 10 out of 10 time...using the logic of some Hank shud leve too cos #86 had more potential...I ain't buyin it...by tha way how many 100 yd games coop got sence he been at um??more than any rb on the roster...I'm not sayin coop shud stay or go but as conch said were not better wit him gone...the more sr's um has nxt yr the better thyll be period

moneycane

Nash you gotta admit this is a win win argument. If Coop stays and balls out it's good for Miami. IF Coop stays and gets out shined by one of the young hoppers it's good for Miami. I'll argue this all day instead of arguing why Brian Monroe would be a servicible WR.

moneycane

Cav you checked out Loso's way yet? You gotta give it a listen. Best CD of the year.

1) Loso's Way
2) The last Kiss
3) ????

Garbage) Blue Print III

solarcane

If Cooper stays he will play
Randy loves hard working seniors,

Whipple trustsyou Cooper with the ball

you guys should all realize this by now

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Nash and Money, ookayy, just stay tuned.

To be honest, if Coop had better vision and could add another ten pounds of muscle, he'd be damn near a 2nd rounder and would carry the load next year.

But he doesn't, at least not yet, and he isn't and probably can't add that much muscle and keep his speed. You never though, what a person can achieve when they set their mind to it.

To me, the main reason he should leave is money. That money will NOT be the same next year, even if we go 12-0, win the NC, UNLESS he does the above and becomes the work-horse, like that Bama kid. Coop just doesn't have that build though. Berry, James and Miller do.

Like Cooper's dad said, they're looking at Bradford in the right way, because of what could go wrong.

I don't know why Ponder's coming back after his injury and seeing what happened to Bradford. I know he's on fire and wants to win something big but he could be toast in one play, like this year.

Oh well, as long as we whoop 'em, I hope he does as well as last year.

solarcane

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Colonel Sanders

Good point moneycane. I am just happy that we can argue about whether losing what would seem to be our top two backs in JJ and Coop will have any impact. At least no is predicting a dropoff in production. It's good to be cane!

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Money, isn't it amazing how much things have changed in three years?? WTF was Coker smoking?? God, what a douche.

I'll check that cat. Never heard of him. As long as the beats are BOSS, Southern style especially, I'll like it, even if he's semi-literate on the mic.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Soup, CONGRATS!!! I thought you were already married. lol

Solar, true about Cooper but he hasn't had any real competition to force Shannon's hand. But he would be key in the early part of the season, while the youngin's cut their teeth a bit.

moneycane

JJ has/had better vision than Coop, but who was the leading rusher during their split time. How durable is Coop, only missed the FAMU game, but if it was top notch comp he would have played. What other back besides JJ has better receiving skills than Coop. Until I see if game after game from the other RB I put Coop as the head honcho. Anyway it plays out next year UM will be better because of it.

moneycane

Happy Christmas.

Cav,my bad Loso's way is Fabolous' CD. Not really a southern style CD. Beats are nice but the lyrics are sick.

raizecane

Merry Christmas everyone.....waiting for kids to crash so i can get in attic, bring down gifts and go to bed myself, lol.

RBLCane

Shawnbrey McNeal just scored 2 tds in the first quarter for SMU in the Hawaii bowl. He is the first running back June Jones has had to rush for a thousand yards. The announcer said he ran "like a hurricane." After the first td he clarified that he meant that he had Miami Hurricane talent and not that he ran like a proverbial hurricane.
I am pretty pleased that even after transferring out, Shawnbrey has managed to get the U some good ink. Can't say I blame him for leaving, because he would be buried on our depth chart. Even our cast-offs can ball!
Merry Christmas!

I was excited to see this too as it also speaks volumes about the strength of our current RB unit. With a solid o-line and continued defensive improvement, Miami will be unstoppable next year on the ground and through the air.

~Happy Holidays CANESPACE!~

GO CANES!!!

I saw this discussion on another UM blog and thought it might be interesting to see the Spacers comments.

Best Player.
Most Improved.
Most Surprising.
Most Dissapointing.
Most Underrated.
Most Missed Due to injury.
Player you would like to see on the field more.
Coach you were most impressed with.
Coach you were least impressed with.

My picks.

Best Player. I got to go with Jacory despite the picks. QB used to be a weakness and he has really taken in to a strength. I just feel so confident with him leading the offense.

Most Improved. Hankerson has certainly improved tremendously. He has made some really clutch cathces this year.

Most Surprising. Damien Berry. He is someone who could carry the ball 30 times a game and we could win even if Jacory had a bad day or got hurt.

Most Dissapointing. Canes special teams in general. There is toomuch speed on this team to be so bad at it.

Most Underrated. Colin McCarthy. He is a beast.

Most Missed Due to injury. Tie, Forston and Ojomo.

Player you would like to see on the field more. Ray Ray should be in on every play like Berry should get the load at running back.

Coach you were most impressed with. Whipple. His play calling in the first three games was beautiful. I wasn't nearly as impressed by the end of the year.

Coach you were least impressed with. Lovett in the beginning of the year, better by the end of the year.
