You are a high school football recruit and you are sitting around somewhere wondering where to attend college. The in-home visits from coaches from all across the Country are over. Your official on-campus visits have all been completed and now it is time to decide what you are looking for in a University.
Looking for some NFL first round draft choices? Yeah, the University of Miami has those in bunches.
Want some NFL Pro-Bowl players to convince you? "The U" counts them in double digits.
Need some future NFL Hall of Famers? Yeah, we have a few of those from "The U" too.
With the Pro Bowl just around the corner, we know that you must be asking yourself: "How many players from the University of Miami will appear in the 2010 Pro Bowl? " If you answered 10 then you would be correct!
Here they are, all from The U, and in all of their glory:
RB Frank Gore, San Fancisco 49ers
WR Andre Johnson, Houstan Texans
LB Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens
OL Bryant McKinnie, Minnesota Vikings
S Brandon Merriweather, New England Patriots
S Ed Reed, Baltimore Ravens
S Antrel Rolle, Arizona Cardinals
LB Jonathan Vilma, New Orleans Saints
WR Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts
DL Vince Wilfork, New England Patriots
In case you were wondering, yes, it is a fact that the University of Miami will have the largest number of players in the Pro Bowl. By far. No questions asked. Six on defense, four on offense, ten players total.
The only question for the next season of recruits at "The U" is: "Who is next?"
Since 1980, the history, tradition and success of the Miami Hurricanes football team remains unmatched by any other team in modern times. The record for consecutive years with a first round pick (14 years spanning from 1994 to 2008), the most first round picks in any one year (6 in 2004) and the most players overall in the NFLU all belong to the University of Miami.
If you want to be the best, you have to join the best.
You want to be part of "The U".

I was writing it, but I'm a perfectionist and was on my 3rd draft, I woke up this morning to find the perfect article already written. Back to the drawing board...

Good Morning everyone. 10 players in the Pro Bowl should never be disregarded. I wonder if the announcers will state that awsome fact during the game.
Who are all of you going for---Saints with Vilma or Colts with Wayne? Can you imagine if all 10 (with others of course) played on the same NFL team? What fun would that be.
On another note I'm going for a MRI brain scan on Monday. 120 days since the last "pill" and still have shaking, slurring my words, and pain etc. I should sue but I just want to get better.
All the best to 86 and Mrs. 86. See you in

Petri has two sons, Brad, who is in his mid 20s, and Kory, in his early 20s. Both were known to wear Hurricanes' gear when they lived in Oxford, Miss.
from Mannys article about Petri. Gotta love that.

According to Rolle, none of it was true. Terrence Craig, who was quoted in the ESPN story saying, ``the people in the community at Northwestern won't forget this,'' wasn't a part of Northwestern's staff in 2009. Craig, a former Bulls offensive line coach, is currently at Miami Southridge.

Where is the Captain when you need him? That is ridiculous to represent someone as an employee of the school when they are not. Who was that writer for ESPN again.

MaryLou Shockey will be on the field with the Saints as well.
I'd love to see the Saints win it all. Wayne has his ring. It's time for two more Canes to get there's.
Did anybody watch the Saints Vs Vikings game? Vilma deserved MVP. The only reason it came down to that FG at the end was because of Vilma. He forced a fumble, picked up a fumble and had an INT??? What else could you ask from your MLB? I saw Vilma in on just about every play completely giving his body and soul to make plays out there. Damn I hope Nelson is the next Ray Lewis or Jonathan Vilma for Miami.
Let me rephrase that, soemone on our roster needs to step up & be a Ray Lewis, Jonathan Vilma or Dan Morgan type for this defense.

DZ8, I think I missed that whole piece on Rolle. I did notice that Shandell ran the story about the possible problems but only mentioned it as a footnote once the primary source, Billy Rolle, ACTUALLY SPOKE. He's so worthless.
Ibis, that would be good but I think we're at capacity. You never know though.

Petri is supposedly out on the recruiting trail. I'm wondering who he was recruiting to Kentucky. I'm sure those D-linemen he was recruiting to Kentucky are who's he targeting.

University of Louisville head football coach Charlie Strong announced that Clint Hurtt has been hired as the defensive line coach, replacing Jon Fabris, who recently left the Cardinals' staff.

Not sure if its been posted already, but from Shandel at the SS
CORAL GABLES _ The Miami Hurricanes have hired Rick Petri as their new defensive line coach, according to a UM source.
Petri replaces Clint Hurtt, who took an assistant job at Louisville. Petri, 56, coached the defensive line at Kentucky the past five years before being not retained when new coach Joker Phillips took over in the offseason.
Petri begins his second stint at UM. He was the assistant defensive line coach with the Hurricanes from 1993-95. His other coaching stops include Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech, South Carolina and Arkansas State.
A few thoughts:
--UM coach Randy Shannon and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland will get to do something tonight many coaches failed to experience while recruiting top-ranked offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson. They will get an in-home visit. After weeks of conducting business at Cretin Derham Hall in St. Paul, Minn., the school Henderson attends, the family has agreed to host Shannon and Stoutland. In-home visits are much personal, compared to meeting in a coach's office. Could be an advantage for UM.
Another Henderson tidbit: His parents have every intention of moving with him to college. I spoke with his father Sean Henderson this morning and his response to the possibility of living in South Florida: "It's great, it's Miami, South Beach. We live in Minnesota, it's nine degrees right now and feels like 20 below (zero). I'm sure, it's 70 there.

How much of an impact can Petri have this season? Will it take him a few years to really show an improvement on the dline?

UM has hired Rick Petri to replace Clint Hurtt as defensive line coach.
No announcement has been forthcoming from UM’s athletic department, but Warner Robins (Ga.) High School coach Bryan Way said Thursday morning that Petri was at the school on Wednesday to speak with four-star defensive tackle Jeffrey Whitaker.
...
Petri is expected back in Coral Gables today and will be on hand this weekend when several top high school prospects visit UM’s campus.

No Comment Oklahoma at work
Jackson Jeffcoat is the other big name to watch. There was a recent in-home visit by four OU coaches, and there are rumors that his father, University of Houston assistant coach Jim Jeffcoat, could be offered a position on the OU staff.

Petri will have the same type of affect on the D-line that Whipple had on the offense. I fully expect our D-line to make a huge leap forward this year.
We have some studs we've been collecting in the past recruiting classes. It's time to see them shine.
Can you say National Championship in 2010? LOL!

That's awesome if true. I can't wait to see our D-line this year. We have so much talent on the D-line. I can see why it's hard recruiting this position this year. A recruit looking at our depth chart has to scratch his head and realize it will be a complete dog fight to get on the field early.
