I used my Canespace Super Powers (and connections). LOL

No, they have FREE tours of the OLD Captial Building (Built in 1845) M-F and Saturday from 9-4. I highly recommend U go. I just kinda did a self guided thing and wound up alone in the Senate chamber for the photo.

The Senate and HR now meet in the NEW building built adjacent to the OLD capitol in the mid 70s. I've been there to meet with several of them due to my Statewide work with a State Agency.

Was invited to the Govenor's House for a recpetion a few times. Have a photo with Former Gov. Lawton Chiles.

1Cane, to me, it's hard to tell the difference between SEAN and SEANTREL.

For that reason and because apparently the kid hasn't played BB or PJ games, I think Shannon might, MIGHT, listen.

Either way, yes or no, it makes sense.

Looks like I missed all the fun yesterday :) I'm tired of the Henderson story already, but am really interested in the idea of Jeremy Davis playing WR- is this an internet rumor?

1. From UM receivers group, the most intriguing talent, Andre Johnson and Santana Moss said, is Travis Benjamin. His speed ``is crazy, phenomenal,'' Moss said.
2. Frank Gore said ``it's crazy'' UM passed on his cousin, LSU-bound running back Jakhari Gore: ``They'll see. But Miami was straight with him. I understand he's undersized.'' . . .
3. Moss, on Jacory Harris: ``He has the most poise of any quarterback I have ever seen at UM.''

you heard buchannan in his interview above (thanks bg) and i think you heard portis call out deion on the set of nfl network-- that the U is about team. no room for primadonas and folks who make this thing all about them.

i think if henderson asks back in randy should say no-- while we lose a helluva talent we're at the same time sending a message to the rest of the college football world.

something different is going on at miami. you're either with us or against us.

Truth, it doesn't snow enough up there to buy a snow blower. That's easily the most snow they've had in DC in 100 years. Well maybe not that long but I bet they haven't had that much snow in total in the last ten years as they got in two days.

JSQ

So what do they do? Come to Miami, don't contact me and go to South Beach. Fools...

Posted by: 86Cane | February 08, 2010 at 11:56 AM

Your average UM student doesn't even go to South Beach that often. It's too damn far! They need to hit up the Tavern, Sandbar, etc. Most of the football players go to the Tavern. Heck, JP used to get behind the bar and serve us back in the day! K2 and the Cokerites loved them some Sandbar. And the last time I hung out with Bryant McKinnie was probably 2006 at Moes! That's UM - not South Beach.

Even the Gables has some good places. I love The Bar in the Gables. Great live music on Saturday night, great beer selection, good atmosphere.

And, of course, I love Titanic! Anything that close to All Canes can't be bad (note to self: warn Harry to stock up since I'm coming down soon).

I can't wait to get down there for the Miami/Floriduh game! I'm bringing my good friend Jenn, a croc, so I will have to tone down the "Urban Meyer is the king of douchebaggery" talk for a day while I show her around my old haunts.

bg1906

2011 will be a big recruiting year. I like several prospect ALOT. Here are a few to keep an eye on.

James Wilder, Denzel Perryman, Serdarius Bryant, Quentin Gause, Kelvin Benjamin, Phillip Dorsett, Nick O'Leary (tuff pull, especially with the TE haul we just got), Curt Maggitt, Arrington Jenkins, Tacoi Sumler, Karlos Williams, Anthony Chikillo (legacy), Teddy Bridgewater, Jacoby Brisset, Marquis Williams, Savon Huggins, Marcus Jackson (already commited), Albert Louis-Jean, Nick Waisome (I think he's a Gator), Jeremy Cash, Wayne Lyons, and Andre Davis.

JSQ

Yeah, Cav, my friends in NYC are the same. I go to South Beach (begrudgingly) when I have company in town but I haven't been to a club since law school and that was only for someone's birthday. There is better stuff to do in south Florida and NYC than just get wasted. In Springfield, Missouri - not so much. You can get wasted or go to Wal-Mart (or both). That's about it.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

JSQ, NYC is the same. I actually partied LESS in NYC than I did in undergrad in a small college town. And I think I went to clubs maybe twice in five years.

Posted by: The Truth | February 08, 2010 at 10:29 AM

Amen. All people from my hometown in Missouri could ask me at my 10 year reunion this summer was how I could actually study living in Miami. It's all about priorities and choices. Temptations are everywhere and people can do the same things at 5am in Springfield, Missouri as they do in Miami - it's just going to be behind closed doors instead of in a club. The advantage of Miami over a lot of slower-paced cities is that there is so much to do that isn't sketchy. People in small towns get bored, act out and do stupid ish. In Miami, there is always SOMETHING to do and it doesn't have to involve henny and "making it rain." Besides, South Beach gets real old after about a month of being in Miami, IMO.

But dad needs to tone down the "it's a business" cuz, mmmmmmm, not so much. At Miami it's about the player and setting him up for the NFL or his after football life. He will be taken care of here.

But we'll see.

Notice, from the announcement, Coach Jeff was the ONLY person Henderson referred to by name. There's a great connection there as far as the kid is concerned.

But daddy is running the show. I hope he truly sees the bigger picture here. I think he does but it's all overwhelming when you've tried to make a microcosm out of every single aspect of this.

All of you make good points. There's just something about Henderson and his father that concern me. All I can say, is I have a child that's an athlete and if they ever get in that position, I'd be looking out for them and trying to help them in making a decision that's best for them, but I definitely would NOT be making those kinds of comments (as was quoted by his father in the previous link) and I would absolutely stay out of the limelight. RS is not about the drama.

Now having said that, if the kid is the real deal and RS feels the situation is manageable, then have at it.

Just two things though: I think Kiffen talks him into staying, so it's moot; if not, my gut tells me Randy has already written this kid off. But again, jmo.

The Truth

And someone on here said something about LA and Miami being equal on the "speed" side.

They've never been to LA.

No comparison. Miami is as wild as it's perception. People from LA come here to get wild.

I'd have to disagree a little bit because if he does come back for unoffical that is on his OWN dime. I think if their primary conceren was the speed of Miami, maybe they want to see it with not so much going on (Pro Bowl/Super Bowl).

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

On the Wayne convo...hardly ever when a receiver catches a ball is thr ever a comment on how good a route was ran...usually it how great a pass was BUT NOW Peyton the great throws a pic6 that basiclly ends the game all of a sudden we wanna talk bout the receivers route??? Nash, that's a good point but Reggie made plenty of clutch grabs. It's just that the one where he didn't run his best route was the game changer.

At the same time, Peyton threw one of his worst balls on that play where Reggie had Porter beat but it was underthrown.

Nashvillecane

All good obeservations. I figure we ALREADY knew what was up and we continued to recruit him so it would appear we were willing to deal with the family at that point. Maybe the impression we are getting from the media is false and maybe he's just trying to "protect" his kid, or maybe he is another Eugene Marve type. I'd love to hear Truth's or J's perspective on this as that would be out of my range to truly comment on.

I think if he does indeed remain on th market, the tell tale sign will be if we do take him or not if we truly were the 2nd choice (which Coach Shannon himself said we were).
