Happy Valentines Day Canespacers!
In honor of the most romantic Holiday of the year we are posting a special Valentine's Day blog. It was the famous English poet John Keats who in his classic poem "Ode To A Grecian Urn" wrote:
"When old age shall this generation waste,
Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe,
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,
Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."
Ten year old Zach from California believed that when he met the UM Cherleaders at his first game ever at then Dolphin Stadium in 2008:
This is our tribute to beauty. First there are these absolutely lovely UM Cheerleaders that we met at the Spring Game in 2008:
And then there was Cat5 with even more of the lovely ladies from 2009:
Plus a little of this from the first Canespace tailgate parties in 2007:
Love was always in the air when Canespace is around, and we always are:
And then there are these lovely ladies from more recent events:
And there was this young lady who went to tears upon receiving her ST#26 shirt:
Plus some others from our recent and now infamous tailgate parties:
So what I am saying is there are some beautiful babes out there at UNC:
So much love for Valentine's Day. We suggest that U consider some UCF ladies:
Or maybe these young, yet lovely and more experienced women from Miami:
And if U can only be so lucky as to find a woman wearing orange on one side and green on the other, then U have found your girl for Valentine's Day 2010!
And then when it is all over, we suggest U consider this beautiful UM fan:
So Happy Valentine's Day Canes fans. May LOVE be with U!

The track at Daytona is torn up, asphault flying around, holes in the track and they can't race.
It is equivalent to the NFL stopping the Super Bowl in the third quarter for an hour or so to re-sod the field.
Shame on NASCAR!

Maybe the Citrus Bowl committee is in charge of the track!

Posted by: raizecane | February 14, 2010 at 06:23 PM
I predict Cat5 is heavy into the Captain Morgan by now, but he trails RaizeCane by at least three beverages.
I predict that there is gonna be a MAJOR crash caused by by MM01 trying to pass Canechic who will take him straight into the wall without hesitation and while smiling.
But most assuredly of all I predict that I am going to grill some Rib Eye steaks that have marinated all day, grill some fresh asparagus, cook some baked potatoes and open a bottle of "REDEMPTION ZIN" for my lovely wife on Valentine's Day.
Of that I can assure U..

OK.....so I was wrong. It was 3 cautions instead of 2 with 39 laps to go

good call, raize.

Charlie..you still got my interview/article?
Posted by: UMike | February 14, 2010 at 07:45 PM
Hey, UMike.
Charlie is probably "busy", so I'll take this one.
For current players to be interviewed, UM has to give us permission. That's why we can't run CSM's Allen Hurns interview.
Once a recruit is signed, I believe he falls under the same protection. I could be wrong, but we don't want to jeopardize our good standing or the players. (86 can give U a further explanation.)
That's why I haven't interviewed any current players. I would have been all over that months ago if we could.
Hope this helps...

Charlie
Here's quick recommendation that may set off the fresh asparagus well.
Roast your potatoes Greek style Cut em into 1 inch cubes toss with olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper and cook for 15 minutes at 400, the toss em with chicken or beef stock and cook for the same time, then toss them with fresh squeezed lemon juice and cook again for 15 minutes and top with fresh oregano.
The lemony flavor should go well with the asparagus.
Now back to sports

Nothing like grill'n for the best tasting food.
For the over the hill gang, not worried about your weight!
Simple but great... 1 1/4 slab of marinated Salmon, baked potatoes, veggies, a little white wine, chocolate ice cream with nuts and load it down with ready whip and just a hint of chocolate syrup on top.... splash with a cherry and good to go for the evening... ohhhh what a night !

marinated in what?
Posted by: miamimike01 | February 14, 2010 at 08:04 PM
MM01..that makes sense..I dod an interview with Tyrone Corelious..although I think it was before signing day, not sure if that matters. I will just wait and see. Thanks for the info though

Cat
You ever use a plank with your salmon?
Posted by: Old Skool | February 14, 2010 at 08:17 PM
UMike...
don't let that discourage you. Keep pluggin. Just as long as they are recruits (before a LOI is signed) or a former player, you're golden.
Hit up somebody like Sharpton or Graham, for example. After you get permission, think about the questions you'll ask and how it pertains to the Space or current events around the U.
I would encourage buying a digital recorder ($50) so you can quote accurately. It's been a great tool for me.
Happy hunting and enjoy the next snow!

UMike,
Phone interviews are better. Face-to-face is even better than that. (I know U R in TN)
If your target asks, always say phone. You want to talk to him (or her). You get a better feel for flow (LOL!)
And what is better than Joe Six Pack (me) talking to Canes? It's a great feeling and experience.
I think you'll be surprised at how many guys say yes.
I've been turned down only once, but that's a work in progress. Not definitive. Just not yes, right now.
Keep at it, I know U "will score!" LOL!

Be sure youre not doing those pushups throughout the day, every day. If you dont give muscle time to heal and you will do more harm than good.

Celebrating Valentines Day by AOL they put on the front page a story about the 10 best TV kisses. #4 was Luke & Laura on General Hospital in 1981. It was the wedding scene and I rember it well. I was working 11 to 7 shift at Miami Int. There was lots of publicity in those days about the UM football team kind of adopting Jeanie Francis (Laura)as a Fav TV actress. It was all over the Herald I couldn't help but chuckle at the time.

That scene was great Fran! My sister and I used to fly home from school to get our daily dose of GH! Those were the days!

Thanks to CC
From The Orlando Sentinel...."It’s uncertain whether Brown will face disciplinary action from the team."
The team (Ah HEM)will ignore this because no one got killed. U know "boys will be boys" The count goes to 27 or more

BTW another of the top 10 TV kisses in that article was from Star Trek, Capt. Kirk and Lt.Ohura (african american officer) kissed. The segment was banned for 25 Years by Great Britton.

We already have the Fulmer Cup and it appears FU could be the favorite to win it this year.
Here's an idea . There's an All-American team, an All Academic team, why not an All-Arrest team.
A site looking for traffic could probably benefit from putting it together... Raycom perhaps?
Posted by: Old Skool | February 15, 2010 at 08:15 AM
While Urban is taking his leave of absence, perhaps he could do some pro bono work with Tebow and visit his team in the Gainesville lockup...or start a work release program to coincide with Spring Practice...
Would probably qualify for stimulus money.

A day after surviving a shark attack off northeastern Australia, a 60-year-old woman is sharing her story.
Paddy Trumbull, a grandmother from Sydney, suffered severe lacerations to her buttocks and lost several pints of blood in the attack, which took place Saturday afternoon while she and her husband were snorkeling off Dent Island in Queensland.
"I was swimming and there was the most almighty, huge tug at me and i knew immediately what it was," Trumbull told The Associated Press from her hospital bed Sunday . "I turned around and saw this huge shark."
Instead of panicking, Trumbull fought back.
"I immediately thought, 'This shark isn't going to get the better of me,' and I started punching it in the nose," Trumbull said. "It dropped me under the water but not much, because I started kicking at its neck."
Trumbull's quick thinking in the midst of the attack may have saved her life, according to doctors who said they were surprised she survived the attack. She was transported by dive boat from Dent Island to the Australia mainland, where she was airlifted to a hospital, according to a spokeswoman for the Department of Community Services.
"We can estimate she lost about 40 percent of her blood volume from the degree of shock she had when she came in," Dr. Marj Flanagan, Trumbull's surgeon, told the AP.
It is the second shark attack in Australia this week. On Thursday, a man was bitten in the leg at a Sydney beach and was treated for minor injuries.
Trumbull said she will receive counseling -- as well as surgery in the coming days.
"I have to have a new remodeled bottom," she said. "So that's a positive."
