Morning, folks. Six- I listened to the Giants game yesterday on the radio, nothing quite like hearing baseball again after so many months.
86- well written article. You have created a great forum, this site is uniquely positive on all Cane sports and I also commend you for reaching out to those who used to be here. For what its worth, I hope Mary, Truth, Calvin, etc. do continue to contribute. Canespace is still going to be a great site with or without them, but I enjoyed all of their contributions.

Being from North Carolina and the most avid Canes fan in this lousy weather state, I'm glad I found a place that isn't moderated and will let you voice your opinion, whether it be good or bad, within reason. Manny let Pedro go on to long and it ruined the blog.

How much money are the Redskins going to throw at any of these guys

How fast did LTomlinson's phone ring from the Patriots as soon as he was available

I usually come here to be updated on my Canes. I don't post much because when it comes to info on the canes I get most of it here so I feel I don't have much new insight to offer. Living in Houston I really get all of my info via the web. And until recently reading Manny's and Shandelle's blogs were annoying ,due to the circumstances metioned here, and the latter lacking any insight. So this is my prefered home and please keep up the great insight and information. Also I look forward to meeting some if you all in Columbus.

16 grams - you can name one training camp, with a guy that is a media whore and a sure fire Hall-of-Famer, with a team that despised him immensely his entire career but now love him b/c his freak show side antics have come to their team? People just went their because it was the closest thing to a big top circus. It would be like having T.O. go to the Bengals to be with Ocho - ya, more than the average crowd would show up just to see the spectacle

Good job brah, ha. Now, tell me how many other training camps are filled each day and pre-season games are packed. Good luck down here trying to get tickets to Yankee spring training, Red Sox, Phillies, Cubbies out in Arizona, etc.

Like I said, people plan their vacations around going to watch Spring Training in Florida or Arizona. How many Cowboy fans in Florida travel to go see them in training camp for a week.

Baseball not integrating is not my problem, in fact, that's why I still hold out as saying Babe Ruth isn't the greatest to play the game b/c he didn't have to face blacks or latinos.

The fact remains, you or maybe 98% of the people out there can't name the first black player in the NFL - so, you want to put that against how many people know who Jackie Robinson is?

The New York Yankee logo is exactly that, an N and a Y - that's their logo and has been since 1877 when it was created by Louis B. Tiffany for a fallen NYPD policeman. A star for Dallas? How is that any more of a logo than the NY? That NY logo is easily the most recognized logo in the world

I have nothing against football, like I said, I love football - college more than the NFL - but you can't dismiss baseball at all. Of course the Super Bowl got better ratings, it's one freaking game ... if the World Series was just one game, then it would get insane ratings as well. Dude, that's common knowledge. One game to decide it all is always going to pull in better ratings than a series of games - I work in television and have since 1993, I know how ratings work

If you don't like baseball b/c you think it's boring, I'd understand that, but to say it doesn't matter is crazy.

Songs have been written about baseball or baseball players - how many songs have been written about football players or basketball players, like when Simon & Garfunkel talked of how a nation mourned the leaving of their hero Joe DiMaggio? Not only that, but what football or basketball player has ever married an icon such as Marilyn Monroe?

Bob Dylan had a song about Catfish Hunter. Cernterfield by John Fogerty. Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen. Cheap Seats by Alabama. Peter Paul & Mary with their song Right Field. Kenny Rogers sang The Greatest. Who the hell doesn't know the song, Take Me Out To The Ballgame?

Dude, baseball is America and has been for a very long time. It might not be considered America's sport right now, b/c of the hype behind football - but it is America's past time and history. In a society of having everything done right here, right now, quick quick ADD - ya, football is going to take top spot b/c it's only 16 games over the 162 games of baseball

Wow

Cat 5 Cane

Lastly, If "The Space" were in your name "and reputation", what would you do?

Cat 5 Cane

Good article for me to "Bang the drums".

To all who have enjoyed the Space, whether as a old timer or newbie or just as a reader, we all agree that this is a great site to read up on anything Canes. We all share a passion that is common ground and it bonds us together, but I think it's important to realize that the unity that binds us, comes from our love for the Canes. From that base core, comes relationships on many polar and bi-polar levels. Interactions between members grow from remote blogging to attending games and meeting each other. Relationships become personal. We become interwoven in one form or other. Some good and some bad. Some times, personalities conflict, feeling are hurt and friendships are broken. It's part of life and we as adults know this. sometimes it goes that way and you both know why.

The Space has room for all of the different personalities but, but, but... This is Soup's ball and it is his world and rules that we all must abide by... to be a part of the Space, He isn't asking much, I don't think...
Asking to respect each other.
Asking to respect our players, who have busted their azzes playing for the U. The team that we supposedly love... What wrong with this picture? Some here want the right to say and do whatever they want to do without restrictions. without bars, without the fear of reprisals on the Net, where everything is forever and ever... Get Real!

If something is said on the Space, who does the blame go to? the enigma who said it or the Space, where it was said on...??? Who remembers hurt, the pain, the sorrow? The person who said it or the person who it was said about?

Lastly, If it were in your name, what would you do?

I'm not sure what happened to Canespace while I was gone, but I feel that we all are family and such good friends, thru this blog. Nothing should tear us apart. The Canes and the love of the U keep us together. But if 86 has to tighten up on what's printed on here, then so be it. Tom is a good man and works his butt off producing this site for all of us, and my hat is off to home. I stated this yesterday, I dont post very often, if at all. I use this blog as a literary outlet. In return I recieve pure entertainment. There are specific bloggers that I target and make sure to read every post because I value their work. The 3 that were suspended were in that specific group. Take it for what its worth. I have faith in Solar, Canez1, CSM, PB, ect....to pick up the slack. Still think banning quality posters from a blog borders on tyranny.

86, overall I disagree with you on some of the content you prefer to avoid on here. In my opinion it's inevitable for strong friendships to form when people are interacting on here and more importantly in person, for months if not years. I also disagree with the way some things were handled for the most part with some of your core bloggers.

But I respect the fact you came on here, explained your position and apologized to anyone you offended. To me saying your sorry is not always an admission of wrong, but a way to acknowledge you may have hurt someone you care about.

Hopefully some fences can be mended because of it.

Don't forget # 6 Gino "OB%" Dimare . Miami and the "Cane Pingers" not only miss his recruiting, Hitting instruction, guidance and coaching. But what is missed most of all, was his mentorship of an 18 yr. old kid and teaching him how to play the game on and off the field the right Professional way and apply that towards taking the next step towards the Bigs. Gino is missed more than we thought, but what we lose out on by not having him @ The Light daily, his little girls get tenfold by seeing their daddy everyday.

New experience for Spence

Junior linebacker Sean Spence went through a sophomore slump, mostly because of a knee injury. Spence was the Atlantic Coast Conference newcomer of the year in 2008, but missed three games last season. His production dipped significantly, finishing with just 36 tackles.

"I never got hurt [in] high school or anything," Spence said. "So coming to college and getting, it was a frustrating experience for me. It was kind of tough, but I fought through it."

With a name like that, the kid has some high expectations to live up to. Stay out of jail and he better have a cannon for a throwing arm if he plays ball

Also, try not to father a small country with a bunch of different women like Travis Henry or Sean the Goodyear Kemp

That name just has some kind of connection to being a lady killa

Hey honey, pack up the bags, we're headed to beautiful Bemidji, Minnesota to watch the Vikes training camp .... yeah, not so much

There's nothing more boring than watching pre-season football

Of course football is the top sport, but there's no denying 30 teams, 162 games, not including post-season and spring training ... saying it doesn't matter are jokes at its finest

Nah, baseball didn't matter to anyone when the Marlins won the World Series twice to anyone in south florida. Baseball didn't matter to anyone from Mass or who is a Sox fan when they finally got a title after 86 years of waiting

Lemme ask everyone this .. right now, without even looking it up, tell me who was the first black NFL player and tell me who was the first black MLB player

Go

Guarantee more people know who the first black MLB player is over the first NFL black player. I guarantee that more people on this planet and in the USA know of the New York Yankee logo than any NFL team logo

Baseball is just as relevant as football in the world

Tom.

I commend you for making an effort to make things right. But this situation was far bigger that ANYONE on this blog will ever know. It was going to go down sooner or later based on the nature of what was happening behind the scenes. Its is sad we lost some good friends...VERY GOOD FRIENDS to this place and to myself personally. I assure everyone I tried everything in my power to help this situation but it was beyond helping. With that said, understand that something HAVE to happen. Choices that we make ALWAYS have consequences, and unfortunately, this was one of those types of situations. However, nothing worth having comes without struggle. Hopefully though we lost some good people, Canespace GROWS from this ordeal and learn what truly is and is not acceptable IN ALL phases of FRIENDSHIP, because in essence that is what Canespace is all about. Yes we are all here because of The U, but because of The U we are all FRIENDS.

On a personal note, Mary and Truth are my friends. They always will be and I will ALWAYS have a great deal of love and respect for them. Not just because of Canespae, but because of the relationships we built OFF blog. They are good people. However, Tom is my friend too, and everyone at Canespace are my friends as well. I will not chose between them and will remain in contact and remain friends with ALL parties involved. We are all adults here and we ALL make mistakes. Its just unfortunate that these mistakes ruined some special, special relationships.

But now the healing process begins...

Let it take its course.

I digress.

Love you all.

Right on 86! U R the creator of CaneSpace & U R D Boss, therefore ALL of us Canespacer bloggers should respect U!

Folks as I mentioned from my past comments, 86 is D Boss! Please let us respect 86 and THANK him for this blog.

CaneSpace is NO easy task and CLEARLY it shows that it is a 24/7 non-stop job. Most probably some of U had not thought about this.

Let us give 86 our support on this one. Thanks again 86 & U "Rock on" with CaneSpace!
