Jimmy Graham will be drafted by the Patriots in the 2nd round. They have 3 picks and no tight end that can stretch the field.

I Like.......this is how it was when we were on top!!

The University of Miami track and field teams saw numerous personal records fall in the first Annual Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday at Cobb Stadium.

The men's 4x100 relay made history in its first competition of the outdoor season. Cory Nelms, DeMarcus VanDyke, Travis Benjamin and Brandon McGee raced to a time of 40.15 seconds. The time was the fastest by a Miami relay team since the 1998 season and is the third fastest time in school history.

VanDyke was the third collegiate runner to cross the line in the 100m dash at 10.74 seconds. McGee finished in 10.88 seconds.

Not Cane related, but it was great to see Phil Mickelson win the Masters. Quite a cool family story.

Only thing better would have been Freddie Couples winning...

As they say in their PGA promos... those guys are good!

U got that right! People do not appreciate just how hard golf is to play at all much less at that level. Happy for Phil and his wife. Couples played out of his mind for a 50-something year old guy.

Loved seeing Vernon getting his "We ready, in yo face" groove on... LOL

I was just thinking about recruiting numbers for this next class and this has got to be a small class maybe 15-17 max and that's including a couple of kids bouncing. This is an extremely small Senior class. Almost the entire team is junior and below.

I have a feeling this next class is going to be small but full of ballers! Randy should be able to get just about whoever he wants in this class cherry picked.

Santonio Holmes traded to the Jets for a 5th Round pick

Looks like the Steelers are tired of his crap and could be a warning to Big Idiot Roth .... they're not going to trade Big Idiot, but, who knows what kind of suspension they might hand down on him

When your Super Bowl MVP winning WR tweets stuff like "going to wake and bake tomorrow" .. come on Santonio, are you really that dumb

Assistants stock is on the rise!!!

The dollar figures doled out this offseason have been eye-popping, especially in the SEC.

Georgia lured Todd Grantham away from the Dallas Cowboys and will pay him $750,000.

Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart got a bump from $360,000 to $750,000 after Tennessee and Georgia courted him.

Tennessee lured Boise State coordinator Justin Wilcox to run its defense for $600,000.

South Carolina bumped defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson's salary from $350,000 to $700,000 after he was wooed by Tennessee.

Auburn increased the salary of offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn from $350,000 to $500,000.

"You have to say, 'What the hell is going on?' " Tiller said.

Money changes everything
College football's top 10 highest-paid assistant coaches - sort of.
There is a caveat to this list. Last season at Tennessee, defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin made $1.2 million and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron made $650,000. Both now are at USC, which is a private school and doesn't release its salary figures. A safe assumption is that both will make at least that much this season, meaning Kiffin would be first on this list and Orgeron would be fifth.

Assistant Salary
Will Muschamp, Texas defensive coordinator $900,000
Todd Grantham, Georgia defensive coordinator $750,000
Kirby Smart, Alabama defensive coordinator $750,000
Ellis Johnson, South Carolina defensive coordinator $700,000
Nick Holt, Washington defensive coordinator $650,000
Norm Chow, UCLA offensive coordinator $640,000
John Chavis, LSU defensive coordinator $600,000
Justin Wilcox, Tennessee defensive coordinator $600,000
Kevin Steele, Clemson defensive coordinator $575,000
Gus Malzahn, Auburn offensive coordinator $500,000
Tyrone Nix, Ole Miss defensive coordinator $500,000

Randy's contract...
Show confidence and hoping we settle this soon, by giving Randy a 5 year deal and not 3.

Whipple is another story and is going to be difficult keeping him here, after this year, without offering some major bucks to renew/extend his 2 year contract. That's assuming we finish in the top 10 and take ACC... 2011 is a story by it's self and there are many reason to believe Whipple will want to be here.

reasons to stay.
1...A run to NC in 2011.
2...Jacory and team will be primed and ready.
3...Whipple's son's senior year.
4...NFL owner's 2011 lock-out... Many questions.
5...Holding out for HC/OC in the NFL and needs a ship to do it.

86Cane

For the third season in a row, the ACC gets the honor of playing the most FCS schools of any FBS conference: 13, one fewer than last season. Every league team is playing at least one FCS opponent, and Virginia is playing two.

For the second season in a row, the ACC gets to boast that it is the "Big Six" league playing the most non-conference games against other "Big Six" teams, with 19. Miami is playing three such games, Virginia Tech none. Maryland has just five home games, one of just three "Big Six" schools with fewer than six.

Teams with eight home games

What a disgrace. I call it "arrested development." These guys still have the mentality of 16 year olds. Lopsided development might be a better word. One area is developed to the full, everything else is juvenile, immature.

Cat 5 Cane

Cav... I agree, it's ridiculous, but SEC has the bucks and the other schools are fighting for survival to contend.

it's like... look what under the Christmas tree!!! but paying the money might be more of being afraid what will happen if you don't pay the higher salaries and lose the coach, like what happened to the Hawaii AD, when Jones left for SMU... That's a little extreme, but you know what I mean.

Cat 5 Cane

Was searching other sites... and it's funny that we are not the only one's who have put up the hand and are saying enough is enough. If you want to bash the players, That's fine, but not here and are forcing the bloggers to think before the print.

Coaches are tired of news reporters and blogging sites, ripping their programs and players... Randy, Sabin, Myers and Davis to name a few, are all on the same page. Coaches are putting there foot down and are refusing interviews and or stalling reporters access to the team or players... Bloggers can't be controlled but telling the players not to have contact with bloggers and blogging sites can be.

Sites who let the bloggers rule are being red lined by the coaches. Many sites are realizing it and have gone to censorship before posting, like Manny's. Others like us, have open forum, but with re-strengths... Then, there is the open free for all, like Shandel's columns.

Funny thing though... even some of the most offensive bloggers, concerning players, are realizing that being honest to one's self can be done in a respectful way, without bloodletting.

and that's a good thing!

I'm out...

Six

Another reason I can't stand my brethren in the media world ....

all the writers out there who couldn't wait to type up a column about how Tiger said he was going to be different out on the course with his emotions, but he showed that he wasn't

Andddd did anyone really expect him to change? Hilarious to me that people act shocked to hear a professional athlete use particular language - Tiger didn't even curse, he just said "Tiger Woods you suck ... dammit"

Ohhhhhh. Don't know how I'm going to be able to wash those words out of my ears, I might just cradle up into the fetal position tonight and down as many Ambien as I can to try and take me away to "G" rated land. I think kids hear worse language than that on Spongebob or Hannah Montana

Does anyone on this earth think in their right mind that a person that is so driven and has been emotional is just going to be able to just drop it all immediately?

What's one of the most over used pieces of video footage of Tiger? Him following his putt as it makes its way into the hole, while he's staring it down, slightly back peddling and then pumping his fist and yelling wildly when it sinks

Tiger is the reason more people actually were interested in watching golf and getting into golf again. He brought a fierce emotion to the game, he brought the fist pump yelling fire charged emotion and "quiet please" piddly golf clap after sinking a putt be damned

So, for all those columnists and commentators out there that are gloating over writing or talking about Tiger showing some emotion again, after he said he was going to try and control it - I salute you with both of my middle fingers raised, a double kickstand salute

Wow, how enormous of a Epcot sized softball is lobbed to you by running to your keyboard and writing about Tiger "losing" it, after a microphone had Tiger muttering that he sucked and then said "dammit". Everyone knew it wasn't going to happen with him keeping his cool, but yet, you act like it actually was going to happen

It would be like Ray Lewis saying he was going to play with no emotion, that he wasn't going to come out and do his world famous entrance

People cannot suppress the drive and emotion they have inside that got them to be where they are now. That's one of the main reasons they're there

I read some columnist say that Tiger should've been blown away by how well he played, like the rest of us were

Um, hey jackhole - that's the difference between someone like you and someone like Tiger. That's why he's the best to ever play the game .... b/c he doesn't just settle for being very good - he has the drive to be the best

Whereas you'd be happy to get through a round of Putt-Putt at +11 ... Eldrick isn't happy at getting a -11 at The Masters

Yep, he tied The Masters record with 4 Eagles in one week. He was only 1 stroke off his scores in 2002 and 2005, both of those he won The Masters

But he wasn't happy - that's what makes Tiger, Tiger. A drive and determination that select few have. Michael Jordan had it as well.

You don't, all you columnists and commentators - and you never will

CGNC

Six I wa disappointed that the Masters would not allow any hecklers. I was hoping for some Happy Gilmore stuff - LOL.

Congrats to Stamkos of your Bolts he will share the Rocket Richard with Crosby

Ungar

Remember when ESPN did all those great teams playing each other... '72 Dolphins vs. '76 Steelers etc...

That would be pretty cool if someone did that for all time 'Canes teams!

Posted by: DZ8 | April 10, 2010 at 03:00 PM

Cmon, you know the ESPN computer programmer would be an Irish fan and make them win it all on a roughing the passer call and taunting after the tackle in OT. Or worse, they will call an excessive celebration penalty after the game is over, giving the other team first down at the one. Heck, they wouldn't even need to tweak the computer simulation versy much, just change the color of the OSU helmets from '03.

Ungar

Six, I am usually with you, but what is the problem here. After a long and cold winter, he is happy that Spring is here and he can finally go out and get a tan. I mean, I try to get baked a little every summer...

Canez1

I am extremely disappointed in Tiger!!!

Young dude with a Billion + dollars and he can only pull down 20 or so freaks in that many years!!!!

That was real weak!!

Put a billion in my pocket and I would disgrace that friggin nerd.

Queer!

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Six

CGNC - ya, I dunno how many times we dropped the line "you will not make this putt .. you jackass" when we were watching various golfers, ha

That's the thing though, if anything, Eldrick has brought a little bit of the Happy Gilmore enthusiasm to the game

I've heard him say some pretty funny things, dropping f-bombs, tossing his club, getting all jacked up after a nice putt, etc.

Beats the boring stuff that you usually see. You can still play the gentleman's game and show some emotion as well ... it's ok

Stammer is a good kid, he actually led the NHL in Power Play Goals with 24 (next closest was Heatley with 18). I can only imagine just how good he could really be on a team that is legit around him. He's got Marty St.Louis to feed him - Marty is a little beast as well.

Maybe it will all change b/c both the Coach and GM were fired this morning

Fighting Ibis

FightingIbis, no BS, but when are you going to write a CaneSpace article showing how the offense has evolutionized from "The Coker T" to what Whipple is doing now?

Posted by: CaneRock | April 12, 2010 at 02:02 AM

I don't think you could call it evolution. Whipple didn't come in and evolve Cokers offense. He installed his own version of a pro-style offense.

Six

Canez1 - haha brah, those 20 or so are only the ones we know about and that have come out yapping their traps

We don't know his over/under for how many he got down with overseas and could've paid to "go away"

I still think the best is hearing some of them say they want an apology from him ... or some of them saying that they didn't know he was married

One of them was just here in Tampa, at a strip club, she was the main attraction. I guess the big deal was that you could get a lap dance from a chick that was with Tiger? I dunno man, what's the appeal in that? I used to work with a chick that Montel Williams would have flown into his town every other week - maybe she could've made some loot on the side, going to some of the local strip dives in town, pimping herself as Montel's Trick

Fighting Ibis

Who gives a f%$k about Tiger Woods? Media types are nothing but a bunch of whores themselves. Who are they to talk about Morals? They'd eat their young if it meant they could break some BS story that people shouldn't even care about.

LMAO!!! But it's true. hahaha

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Elliot, you prove my point about how there are no standards or expectations for being an adult American male.

For an adult male to publicly state, "it's time to wake and bake", is pathetic, I don't care who he is or what he does and earns.

It's disgraceful and pathetic for damn 16 year old to say that.

But in the last 30 years, standards themselves have been eroded and destroyed. Instead it's what can I do for myself to get by and feel good.

Pathetic....

And you wonder why our boys always want to stay boys....

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Yeah, I think when you just throw money at someone it's because you don't know how to analyze and find the best person. Boisie's DC is good but beating TCU isn't a reason to hire someone. They had a month to prepare and TCU just runs a run of the mill spread. That's not saying much about a DC, esp. when they face spread teams all the time.

And he's not worth that kind of money.

The person those schools SHOULD have hired was Utah's OC who demolished Bama in that 2009 bowl game. Everyone forgets about that game and him when they talk "SEC Football".

But one of the KS school's hired him.

So TN is going to look funny when dude gets drilled by Ole Miss. lol
