MARTIN VS MORRIS:

Martin has led the Seminoles to the College World Series 13 times and to 32 consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, including in each of his 30 seasons as head coach.

For the past 30 seasons, Martin hasn't just produced great players he has developed great teams. FSU baseball is the second-winningest program all-time but no school has produced more wins than Martin's Seminoles since 2000. No other Division I school has finished in the top 10 more times, compiled more 50+ win seasons or gone to more NCAA Regionals since 1990 as well.

Since 1990, the Seminoles are tied for fourth in College World Series appearances with nine, while Martin has led his teams to Omaha 13 times in his career including nine trips in the last 19 seasons.

University of Miami Head Coach Jim Morris continues to produce some of college baseball's most consistent and dominant teams heading into his 17th season in Coral Gables. With a talented staff around him, Morris' Hurricanes are continually the class of collegiate baseball, winning national titles in 1999 and 2001.

In his 16-season tenure at Miami, no other program, nor head coach, has qualified for the College World Series as much as Morris and his Hurricanes. Miami, which has qualified for the NCAA Tournament a NCAA-record 37 consecutive years, has made it to Omaha in 11 of Morris' 16 seasons in Coral Gables. Morris set an NCAA record for guiding a program to the CWS in each of his first six years at UM. In addition, Morris has won a 14 of 16 NCAA Regional appearances at UM, including a record 13-straight to start his tenure in Coral Gables. His teams have qualified for NCAA Regionals for the last 25 years, 16 at Miami and nine at Georgia Tech.

A three-time national coach of the year and 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year, Morris has directed the Hurricanes to a 733-278-3 (.724) mark since arriving in 1994. Including his 12 seasons at Georgia Tech (1982-93), Morris has forged a 1,237-522-4 (.703) Division I record in 28 years as a head coach. Overall, Morris has been the head coach at the collegiate level for 32 seasons, spending the first four at DeKalb (Ga.) C.C. from 1976-79, and has recorded a 1,368-563-4 (.708) mark.

Go CANES !!!!!

Acane

They can quantify strength, speed and intelligence... If only they could quantify attitude. Ill take a team full of Boshers knocking snot bubbles outta people...Imagine if A Brown (and some others we have seen come through here over the last few years) had the attitude to go with the strength and speed. Oh well... Its a new day at the U and I have a feeling all will be well.

No promises on the shower thing though.

Listening to that Gary Ferman Rivals interview about the Canes upcoming season was very encouraging. I thought I was listening to Capt. O. Never heard Ferman speak so positively about the direction the Canes are headed. I think we are in good shape for 2010 to make that special run.

But the spirit was right, even if the timing was a few years off. lol

Is there a video of this hit that Bosher had against the Gator in 08? If so and one of you knows of it maybe you could post the link. I'm horrible about searchin' for stuff like that. If not, maybe someone could describe it for me. I had a bit of a stroke a while back and my memory got scrambled. Hell it was poached before that happened so

CaneSniper

I agree I really thought this was the year the stars would align at all 3 of our LB positions. But now we have Kylan Robinson penciled in at the once feared Miami MLB position. Ouch. If we can find a solution there and another CB opposite of Brandon Harris, our D will be back to old school.

Cat 5 Cane

OUCH Man, That's poring more salt on the wounds... and I'm still not over it!

We don't know all of the crap behind the scenes... (Private life, Girl issues, family, self confidence, coaches, brother not coming here, etc.)... But he was one of many that got here and never developed during 05/06/07/08.... but that was then. Now looking beyond that, I think the tide has turned in 09 with Lovett and Whip's arrival.

I need some Orange... Later

Dedrick Epps in interview with San Diego Press.

LM: How did your time at Miami prepare you for this transition?

DE: Well, Coach [Randy] Shannon has his ties with the NFL, so he knows how things are run and he knows how to run a team in a professional manner. It’s simple things like being on time, having your notebook so you can write things down as you need it, just little things. When I got to this level, I expected that as the norm, so he molded us very well.

MORE ON BOSHER:

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

5 things to focus on:

1. That ridiculous tennis match will go for another 4-6 hours.

2. Don't Miami and Notre Shame have the same academic qualification level??

Then explain to me, how is many reports saying this Devaris Daniels kid were on a verge of choosing UM over ND b'coz he wouldn't qualify to Notre Shame!?! And to think he would qualify at the U???

3. If T Glenn and Jeremy Davis ain't qualifying, then there it is, have the private jet ready for coach Shannon and send the troops in a-la USC coaches for package deal Seantrel Henderson and Ego Ferguson as rumor has swirled both might re-consider their interest in Miami per Latwan A's fb.

4. U-S-A! will destroy Ghana! ahhh two african teams in a row. No surprise here, we should take care of business.

5. John Wall is a locked number 1, everybody knows that, and if i were to draft number 2 it would be Evan Turner, but what next after them??? Give me your take, lets see that mock draft of yours.

According to Manny UM is 5-6 schollys OVER the limit right now. He said expect others to go the JUCO or Prep school route unless there are some transfers.

No word on who yet.

Daniels may have been serious about UM over ND or mahe have been just attention seeking.

We prolly will not find out until February 2011.

More Seantrel.

Per ESPN Insider:

Ominous sign for Trojans

UPDATE: Seantrel Henderson played in a pro-am league basketball game on Tuesday, according to Charley Walters, and he said he is up to 350 pounds. (Wow. No wonder coaches salivate at the thought of inserting him at LT. Though Walters said he will have to drop weight whenever he goes back to football, which would suggest that he is not a rock-hard 350 pounds.)

When asked about his status with USC, Henderson said: "I don't want to talk about that." Yikes. That pretty much says it all, eh? Based on that comment, it certainly appears that the chances of Henderson ending up in Troy are pretty minimal.

Walters reports that "a little birdie" told him that Henderson was assured by Lane Kiffin that NCAA sanctions would not be severe. Now that they are, Henderson faces the dilemma of honoring his letter of intent or transferring -- and being forced to sit out a year.

Bosher's hit vs Florida at on Rusty98UM11's channel on youtube, but they are in the Miami vs Florida game highlights.

If it was up to me I wouldn't lift a finger to get Seantrel to The U. He had his chance and passed on us. If he wants to walk-on or something then by all means. He needs to prove how much he wants to be a part of this. IMO

Time to be a man Seantrel, you bought some lie now man up and honor your word.

Esteban

DZ, honor your word that was given based on a lie told to you?

that's like telling a dude to be a good dad even after he found out his chick cheated and the kid ain't his.

Ungar

Esteban, that depends on the age of the kid. If he has been the only father that kid has had for 12 years, then maybe he should suck it up and be a "good dad" for the kid just like if the kid was adopted.

But Seantrel is finding out right after the pregnancy, so leaving before the kid is born, no problem. Everyone will know the girl cheated, and gets what she deserves.

(We are turning Seantrel's case into an Jerry Springer/Maury Povich episode!)

Ungar

For Six and any other Scorpions fans out there.

They will be in Miami on July 16th with Ratt.

Wear your Canes gear so that they put a bit of extra effort into "Rock You Like A Hurricane!" 8-)

DZ8

I wouldn't compare the two but yes, honor your word. It wasn't like this came out of the blue. Many players don't "honor" their word so it's no big deal if he does go elsewhere. JMO

My main point is I'm not a big fan of him coming to The U now. I want the players that want to be here. The ones with a passion for the orange and green. The ones that don't have the passion will let us down at some point. Whether in off field incidents, academics, or the fourth quarter.

Ungar

I think Bosher has three personal foul penalties for "late" hits. In other words, later than refs are used to seeing punters jump into the fray.

I bet that is more than any other punter in the NCAA.

He is no Johnny Sample (a REAL dirty player on a dirty team, the Jets), but he sure doesn't have an off switch on the field.

Great to see, and deserving of MVP because of it.

Now we need him to get the rest of the team a bit "dirty" too!

PhillyCane

Watching the highlights of that gaytors game really pisses me off. That stadium one was quiet, two we forced them to punt the more times then any other team that season and i believe their lowest point total. Three, now they are shook to play us. We were so down that year, that we were only down 9-3 going into the fourth is amazing. I hate them

NOT UP IN HERE!!! as open palm slams the table

Ungar

DZ8, well said.

I won't be sad if he comes here, but he have that Bryce Brown stink to him already, so he would have alot to prove.

However, if he shows up here, does that mean some folks will change their Legends of Fall selections? I bet it will. He has that Blind Side type talent that MIGHT give us an edge worth taking the risk.

I won't be sad if he comes, but I won't be sad if he don't neither. 8-)

swamper

jadeveon clowny, is there any legitimate interest from him in the U??? The Kid's a BEAST!!!!

Ungar

PhillyCane, they were scared to play us even BEFORE that game.

You know how a little kid will take his ball and go home when it looks like is gonna lose? When they quit on us, they had the series lead on us. 31-4 made sure they never opened that box again until we

But a couple of bowl games and a couple of games scheduled when we were recovering from probation, and they took a chance. It failed, and we took the series lead. Now that they won the last game, at home, and with SEC refs, against a first year coach and a new QB (nobody else demands such advantages), I expect they will do EVERYTHING in their power to dodge the return game in 2013.

Foley is already making comments about the "cost" of going down to Miami that lean that way, and it is still three years off. in other words, they will ask for travel costs to be reimbursed by Miami, and then cancel when the Canes correctly then ask for reimbursement of our travel costs for the 2008 game.

It's their typical MO, cowardice under the cover of "financial cost" that explains why they don't play ranked OOC outside of Florida, and haven't since Syracuse (yep, Syracuse) humiliated them. I guess plane tickets cost more when you have a yellow stripe down your back.

France and Italy both out? They live for this stuff. WOW

Amazing Tennis match. Will be remembered forever.

Esteban

DZ and Ungar, you can tell I've been watching My Name is Earl on netflix. Definitely not on the same level importance wise, but i ain't with the keep your word stuff when someone was mislead into it. If Seantrel comes here he's going to have reality hit him - nothing will be given to him. If he doesn't come here he can probably get immediate playing time promised. I don't really care either way. Wasn't the biggest fan when we were recruiting him, but I'll always take a big athletic guy.

Ungar

"Welcome to this special Canespace edition of Jerry Springer. Today's edition is called "Hell hath no fury like a lineman scorned". A young and impressionable Seantrel Henderson had to choose between two schools, and now he feels he might have picked wrong. We have brought the two coaches HERE, to tell us their side of the story."

"Seantrel, you have a couple of men out back that have not met each other, but one of them is gonna be your coach. You picked one, but he LIED to you, and left you disappointed. The other one is a guy that you left waiting while you had your hair done like a little girl, but now you want to go with the honest man."

"Yes Jerry, my daddy even asked him about getting a record contract, and after talking to Reggie Bush, daddy siad I should sign up with USC. But after finding out they were lying to me, I want to get out of the relationship."

"Hmmm. (pause) Let's bring them out here! First, the liar, Lane Kiffen."

(The audience boos loudly, he flips them off, the security guy holds him back from the audience.)

"Lane, you told Seantrel that he would get to be in bowl games, win titles, and be an NFL star. Instead, he will be a footnote on a team under probation. What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Well, Jerry, he was just so hot that I said what I needed to to get him and his dad to sign on the dotted line. Now he has a contract and he should just shut up. I own him now!"

(crowd boos again)

"Wow! (pause) Now, let's hear from the honest coach, Randy Shannon!"

(crowd cheers, some throw up the U, others woof in old Arsenio style)

"Randy, you waited while this young man got his hair done, and then he dumped you for Coach Kiffen. How did that make you feel?"

"Well, Jerry, I was hurt, I won't lie, but I understood he was looking out for his father's career."

"Do you still want Seantrel in your school?"

"Yes, I do, he will be an excellent student and athlete at the University of Miami. And that's the truth!"

(crowd cheers, stands, and a guy with a big head in an orange shirt runs down the aisle.)

"Seantrel, the crowd seems to know what you need to do. You gotta bite the bullet, take that year off, and transfer to the school that will do you the most good, Miami!"

(sniffling) "I know, Jerry, but it.... it..." (and he runs off to the couches offstage)

(Jerry looks into the camera and says)

"It looks like Seantrel is still conflicted. I will talk to him, bring him back out here, and we will see who he chooses, after the break."

(Outro) "Has your son been lied to by a college coach? Call us at 1-800-Jerry and you might be on our show, too!"

Ungar

Esteban

I understand exactly what you're saying about making a commitment under false pretenses. If I was in his shoes I'd get out of my comitment letting everyone know that I was lied to. To me he's just trying to get some more attention. Or USC has new payment rules in place and he/his father doesn't like them. We are seeing a re-negotiation occuring.

Wisdom. This is so true.

If by some slim chance Seantrel comes here, like was said before, reality will hit him square in the mouth the first time he steps on that practice field.

Having said that, correct me if I'm wrong, SH can't do us any good this year anyway, because he'd have to sit out a year (go the JC or prep school route)...or am I wrong on that?

Esteban

Ungar, i never watched Touched by an Angel so I wasn't ruined by it.
