NEON DEON #2!

Yeah... even though he went to FSU, you gotta give it to the man... he was an unbelievable athlete! (He may have been the fastest human on the planet for his first few steps... )

Nice research again gents, (as usual.) Where do you find all of this stuff? (Impressive!)

This was a fun and interesting series, and a great way to fill the summer doldrums on the blogosphere! Bravo!

One more to go...

solarcane

Here are the reference sites I used to research the Fab 50
Six will have a some to add also

The first link should be in everybodys favorites, you will be amazed at how many names are there, and I looked over all of them.

Thanks again for the kind words on the article

Before I knew anything about UM vs FSU, I was a Prime Time fan.

He was #2 at FSU and he's #2 on this list.........

Is Solar a marketing genius, or dumb-lucky?

The world may never know........

Soup,
I fired my tee shirt guy,
He has screwed me over twice in 4 weeks I'm gonna call you tomorrow about something.

Thanks for all the photos, editing, and tweaking you added and helped with through the project.
I couldn't have put it together without Six and you helping out.

Teddy Bridgwater was just on WQAM with Larry Bluestein. Teddy tells this story.
This past week he along with his 7 on 7 teammates were up in Tallahassee for a competition. He was wearing his UM gear. He and his teammates were given a tour of the FSU football field. The tour guide told them not to step on the field. Teddy responded, "Don't worry about it, in 2 to 3 years you'll be begging me to get off the field."

Nothing better than when it was said that Deion didn't make tackles............he made business decisions.

Hurriphin 302-4-305

HaHa, yo Teddy................Swag much?

Jacory won't be missed for too long.

shwarma

LatinCane, you have a link to that interview with Teddy?

LatinCane

Nah. It was live on the radio. It might be posted on the 560 WQAM website.

Solid choice for #2.

The man could dominate an entire game defensively and leave it with a spotless jersey.

CanesFanStuckInCali

Great article!!! Deion is the man. Even Canes fans love him.

Also, I LOVE that Bridgewater quote!!! That's what I like hearing from recruits!!!

ONLY 2 MONTHS AND TWO DAYS TO GO!!!

GO CANES!!!

I'm trying to come up with a more decorated world competitor from FL and failing. Plus I've had a crush on her since '93 when I was 13 and worked on Sportschannel broadcasts of UF swimming and diving meets that she was the color commentator for so any excuse to pull up pictures of her taking names in the pool is good in my book.

Siento la misma manera. Biselo espera hasta que la estación comience. Espero que todo sea bueno con usted.

I can't believe prime is #2, but like I said he's one of my fav players of all time...dude change the way db's play the game...90% of corners in the nfl now would prob say prime is the one they pattern their game after...I'm a cowboys fan and prime almost single handledly stop a 3 peat in the NFL in 94...he and the jimmy/jerry conflict....but his 94 def MVP season was the best season by a def player I ever see other than Ray Ray mvp/superbowl season...but anyways I gott commend U guys for the thot put in when compiling this list.

nash,

If it makes you feel better Prime Time was in the #1 slot a couple times, but never lower than #2 throughout the entire project.
He is the only athlete that was 1 or 2 in every updated list, and there were at least a half dozen revised lists.

I love it when Jacory gets the top billing on a Gator site

Yep, I wonder if they have the whole video on youtube.

Ahh. Here it is. "Sammy sucks!"

But this video shows why Neon Deion was a special player.

solar, the link at the bottom showed that they have John Brantley as the 21st best player in the ENTIRE SEC. Hilarious. And their highlight is him throwing a meaningless RUTS TD against mighty FIU.

I mean, cmon! He has done NOTHING. He is probably the 21st ranked QB in the SEC right now, not the 21st best PLAYER. 12 teams, 12 backups, yeah maybe he makes the Top 20 QBs if a couple guys get injured, but Top 25 overall? I bet there are 20 better players on his own team, let alone Alabama and LSU.

I don't know if this is old news or not, but I found this interesting...

From ESPN.com

Public records from the University of Florida and media accounts provide a timeline of some of football coach Urban Meyer's activities since the SEC championship game:

One of many entries -

"Feb. 11: Micheal Barrow, a University of Miami defensive assistant, is passenger on the 11-seat plane on a flight from Miami."

I was familiar with Hurtt communicating w/ the Crocs, but not Barrow. FWIW.

Go Canes!

Former Miami QB Derrick Crudup Jr. set to join Nick Saban's staff at Alabama

Published: Sunday, February 21, 2010, 9:53 PM Updated: Monday, February 22, 2010, 12:18 PM

Former Miami quarterback Derrick Crudup Jr. has joined Alabama's offensive coaching staff, according to his father Derrick Crudup Sr., a former QB at Oklahoma and in the NFL.

While not a position coach, Crudup Jr. is to serve as offensive "quality control," his father said, helping out with Alabama's quarterbacks and wide receivers.

CanesFanStuckInCali

Several teams have launched "Heisman campaigns" for their players, including FSU for Christian Ponder.

You guys think it's a good thing Miami hasn't done this for Jacory? You guys think Shannon would ever allow that?

I for one think it would be a bad idea, especially this year. We need to focus on winning and winning alone, and a Heisman campaign would be distracting IMO, especially early in the year.

What do you guys think?

GO CANES!!!

U win, U get the stats, U get the heisman.

Another great read on a state athlete

Well done as usual

Prime Time was a true CB on an island. To this day I have yet to see a CB bait a QB like he did. His closing speed was unreal

Meaning my own personal selection for #1 will be just that #1

A very well deserving selection I might add

Ungar

After the 2-0 start, these guys started listening to the hype, and it was a factor in the VT game.

Yeah, no press on Jacory for Heisman THIS YEAR, giving him a chance to have a title under his belt for SENIOR year. If he gets the Heisman this year, we might have to replace him when the NFL snags him early.

Call me selfish, but I want to reduce the number of 2008 recruits that leave early for the draft. It means a more solid team in 2012, higher graduation rates, and more time for our younger players to build skills before being thrown to the lions.

Funny how Dieon, Irvin, and Smith all ended up with JJ in Dallas. Irvin got the best of Dieon in college (19-3 going into the fourth quarter ring a bell?) but Smith and Sanders ended up passing him in the end thanks to injuries.

Why didn't the DOLPHINS grab those players? Give Marino the help of Smith and Irvin and Sanders, and WE win some titles.

If the Dolphins had grabbed some Canes like Lewis, Armstead, Hester, Moss, Portis, Gore, Reed, Irvin, etc that would have been awesome.

Canez1

rthur will be an animal next year and will lead the team in tackles.

I have faith in my boy! Mark that shyte!

360Cane

Nice Fab 50 solar and six. Nice touch ups 86 even though I don't really know what those are except for some added photos solar mentions??? LOL

What I really like about Prime Time, is he would talk to the WR he was covering, and actually tell them how they can beat him. It never happened but at least it was cool of him to try and help them out!

Ain't no one leaving bruh. Remember the 2011 lockout that is suppose to happen? Can't leave early if there isn't anything to leave early to.

has ab and his brother find a school yet?
