damn its early........

JUST CANE

Daniels is not a Miami commit. The kid is going to Notre Dame.

Sebastian

Out of the last 4 that I figured was up there, I had Carlton higher then that

That guy was a nasty nasty lefty

I love what you guys are doing with a top 50 list

CGNC

FSU beats the gators, bye bye gators.

Posted by: Canesfan4life | June 21, 2010 at 08:17 PM

Well when your opponent doesn't commit seven, that's right SEVEN erros in one game, ya can't win 'em all

CGNC

CGNC the other day I heard a guy trying to convince a sports radio announcer that LeBron James was more of an athlete then Sydney Crosby. I was so angry I almost called in to the show to defend Crosby and I was like wait a minute I do not like this guy. Although I do not like him Lebron is better really? And are you trying to say hockey players are not athletes? That was a big huge COME ON MAN.

Posted by: canechic | June 21, 2010 at 08:24 PM

LOL, you would like him if he played on your team with Marleau! Don't deny - LOL!!!
Yeah people who don't understand hockey or really the athletic ability to do what they do on a sheet of ice will never get it. Oh well, better seats for us ;-D

Ungar

Lebron would slaughter Crosby.

He has speed, reach, and can jump higher.

We are talking MMA, right?

Ungar

Or are you letting Crosby keep that funny-shaped stick in the fight. That is an unfair advantage!

Ungar

Soup, that doc I sent you, would you prefer it in Word? That would allow you to skip through the conversion....

roachcane77

Great job on #4 Soup & Solar... a really good choice!

Just read a great article on our incoming FB Maurice Hagens (5-11, 230) from Tampa Tech.

He's been working out with a personal trainer all summer to get ready for the Fall!

This dude is a BEAST, and wants to PLAY!

Esteban

360Cane, thanks for that EBgames link. I might just go ahead and trade my 360 in. i got so many controllers that I'd just have to come out the pocket with maybe $50 or so. but then i'd have to pony up $15 for new cables, too. So i guess like $65. Thinking about it.

Esteban

roachcane, who was the article by? i might be able to find it online.

CGNC

Ungar - Lebron would have to wear skates......enough said. After all he is the "king" and the "king" can do anything, right? :-D

raizecane

There is no denying that hockey players are atheletic.....anyone who says different should be tested for drugs. And I would say they are in the top two when it comes to toughness.

So I wonder, who gives / takes the harder hits -

hockey player
football player
rugby players ???

PhillyCane

360Cane or Bg.. How is the new xbox slim going to be better then the xbox elite?

CG no doubt Crosby is athletic, but cmon lebron james is a freak of nature.. dude is a beast.

Da U N Houston

Rivals shows Daniels committed...Don't shoot the messenger....

Esteban

Philly, xbox slim has 250 gig hard drive and built in WiFi. supposed to be a lot quieter too. and of course smaller.

Canesfan4life

Crosby would take care of LeBron, shoot James went down when Rondo barely touched him. James is a soccer player thru and thru, sneeze on him and he goes down like a house of cards.

+1 and kinect "ready" meaning that it does not require an external power supply whereas the older 360s will. I have mine on the way from costco as we speak. Costco is the best because it effectively has a lifetime warranty on it because of their insanely awesome return policy. Unfortunately, I was not a costco member when i bought my current unit so I cannot use their return policy as an upgrade this time around...

Posted by: CGNC | June 22, 2010 at 11:15 AM

Hmm, if he is the "king", then wouldn't he send a few "enforcer pawns" to take care of Crosby for him?

I am stunned no company has come up with something like that, to have players, based on their specs, get thrown into battles in other sports.

Remember the Bo Knows commercials?

Or maybe even the Battle of the Network Stars?

Or another show I recall but not the title of (and google is being VERY unhelpful with) where pro baseball and basketball and football and track stars would team up to see which sport had the better athletes. I recall that hockey, bowling, golf, surfing, and curling were not invited because they were just "pastimes".

So, Lebron and the NBA All-Stars in their sports and in games of volleyball, sprints, swimming, wrestling, etc. against NHL, MLB, NFL, PGA, PBA, WTFSAI*, and COCDHAADI**.

Make it kid safe, and call it Backyard Athletics! It would be like that but on the Wii, since it is OBVIOUSLY better than the Xbox 180. I can already see Madden doing the voiceover on it... (~~~~ wavy dream sequence ~~~~)

"And Ray Lewis has just POUNDED Slater into the boards! I guess boards in hockey are not as friendly to Slater as boards in surfing.

"Lewis passes to Brady, who gets LAID OUT by Lebron, who has chosen to not even have a stick in his hand. Brady is looking around for a flag. I always knew Brady was a pansyazz!"

(~~~~ wavy dream sequence over ~~~~)

What do you think, would it sell?

WTFSAI* (Whatever the freak surfing's acronym is)

COCDHAADI**. (Come on, curling doesn't have an acronym, does it?)

Rondo might be tougher than he looks. One flick of the wrist and he sent Artest into the stands, remember?

And that's why the NBA as almost as bad as soccer.

If I was a ref every time someone flopped I would give them a technical.

Canesfan4life

"is" sorry working while typing.

Ungar

Posted by: Canesfan4life | June 22, 2010 at 02:29 PM

Ditto. That T on Rondo, although it ended up not mattering, should have been a double T to include Artest for the poor acting job.

And if I was a cop, there would be tickets written at EVERY intersection.

And if I was a football coach, defenders would know how to TACKLE and backs would know how to pick up a BLITZ.

And if I coached the Marlins, Jorge Sosa would not have been out there walking away the game to the Rays. In fact, I would have been on the phone to Beinfest demanding he get a replacement as soon as I saw how he performs in the CLUTCH.

And if I was a soccer ref, I wouldn't even call offsides, I want to see some SCORING.

And if I were king of the world, I would make some CHANGES.

1. Get convicts out there dumping dirt on that leak, until their arms were tired, then bring in the next batch.

2. Get some more convicts to walk around in the caves of Afghanistan with cameras welded to their heads. First one to spot Bin Laden gets a pardon.

3. Get some more convicts to start cleaning up the Gulf states and charge BP premium prices for the labor. And make BP come up with a way to make that oil usable again. After all, it wasn't THEIR oil they wasted, but MY oil (I am king, remember).

4. Get some more convicts to "code red" Terry Porter. He is overdue for a little payback.

5. Get some more convicts to play football for the Gators. Oh wait, already been done.

See, those convicts we have been keeping in storage could be put to good use!

There is flopping in the NBA no doubt .. but it's funny to watch just how overly dramatic the Euro players are at flopping, than the American players

It must be in their blood. The Euro players in the NBA are William Shatner-esque ... but Euro soccer players, hell most soccer players, take that Shatner overacting to insane heights

You'd think they just got snipered by a howitzer

The thing I remember most about Steve Carlton, other than that dirty, filty, nasty slider and 95+ 4 seem fastball was, after his first couple of seasons in the bigs, he had a fall out with the press about something that was written about him personally. He vowed NEVER to talk again with any type of reporter, national, city or team beat writer again. Any time there after if any questions were asked to him, Lefty would simply stare straight ahead and walk right on by. For a few years, many tried to get a quote, any type of quote. Dude never so much as cleared his throat in response. Then finally, (minus one 1978 Playoff manditory pressor) from about 1970 until his retirement in 1988, the press never so much as asked him a question and bothered him again. The guy was Kryptonite to anyone that resembled the press.

Talk about your anti- Terrell Owens. Don't know why, but I always admired that about him in his steadfastness and focus to keep that up. And he was never mean or ugly about it. Whomever the reporters were, he just made them invisible. He said later after his retirement as to why he didn't grant interviews or answer questions was simply, "I was working".

Also after he retired, he was and still is one of the more interesting interviews there are to talk about the game of baseball back in that era.

Great choice with Lefty.

Despite his career-long rivalry with Ryan, Carlton maintains his greatest rival was Tom Seaver.

Interesting old S.I. article about these two in the last year of their careers.

DaVaris Daniels does an about face

"It's been a wild couple days," Vernon Hills coach Tony Monken said. "The family has decided to re-evaluate. The plan right now is to wait until after the season and go on his official visits."

In the meantime, the family has hired Brian Butler and Patrick Peterson to advise them on how to handle the recruiting process.

I prefer Sony and the PS3

Esteban, It was an ITU article... I still have a subscription. Here's some highlights...

He's going to get to keep his HS jersey number 33 at Miami, and he's dying to get to campus, (he reports next Tuesday.)

In Maurice Hagen's senior year he had 204 carries for 1305 yards and 18 touchdowns. His three year stats included 518 carries for 3686 yards and 41 touchdowns.

He's going to be rooming with DB Kacy Rodgers from Texas, whom he met on his official visit.

I REALLY LIKE this kid... I think he's the real deal!

bg1906

Latest from C6Vette (insider), he’s normally pretty reliable

Heard the numbers will be 17-19 signees

We have 3 committed receivers

We are going to be backing off of Benjamin

Already have 9 kids verbally committed to the staff(2 Lb, 3 wr, 1 qb, 2 db, 1 ol ….Amazing how much easier it is when you have a recruiting coord like Hill…

___________________

Based on his numbers its pretty easy to figure out. The one question is who is the other LB. It isn’t Hankins because he’s commited to Arizona, but it does explain why Hankins’ commitment was not taken.

QB – Bridgewater
WR – ???
WR – Rogers
WR – Dorsett
OL – Jackson
DB – Louis-Jean
DB – ???
LB – ???
LB – ???

The question marks are the 4 silents my guess at who they are (Watkins, Crawford, Perryman, the last LB is a mystery). Very tricky to figure out that last LB. That last LB to me off the top of my head is either Steward or Townsend would be my best guesses.

Or we can add another option…Vette is wrong. :-/

USC got a commitment from a high school sophomore and his 8th grade brother today

Did Rivals or Ferman get it wrong again or did the Kid pull the old switcharoo?

Sebastian

Dyron Dye is going to have a "im the next great one" type of year

Hes going to be scary good as the season moves onward

canechic

Okay CG can't believe I am doing this but here goes.

Sidney Crosby wins The Stanley Cup...The freakin Stanley Cup at the age of 21 and the following year wins the Olympic gold and not to mention put in the winning goal in overtime. Enough said...tell me please what Lebron has won?

Like I tell my annoying Gator baseball fan friends...."Win one and we will talk"!

PhillyCane

Lebron hasnt won as much cause he doesnt have a champ in the nba but he does have the US gold medal.

Not that I am disagreeing but looking at an athletic standpoint Lebron is a freak of nature.. sure lebron couldnt play hockey but he could play football, but sid the kid couldnt play bball or football.. thats just an example

Hurriphin 302-4-305

Hurriphin..........the U.

canechic

A gold medal in basketball? Cannot really compare to one in hockey..remember great NBA players are basically on the USA team, great NHL players spread all over the teams in Olympic hockey. LeBron is probably good maybe could play football but when it comes to winning the big one....not so much. Physical tools are not all you need to win and LeBron has been known to melt down.

Tru dat.

Old Skool

Okay so who would you have liked to see play football?

Shaq as a defensive lineman would be interesting novelty act especially on field goals and against passing teams. That is assuming he could get down in the stance repeatedly

The person I would have loved to see play football would have been Karl Malone. He probably would have made a great tight end.

Sebastian

Planet Lovetron would of been a blast to have as a TE

Not many are going thru that man

Sebastian

Marlins should be able to piece a few good wins together by playing the Orioles after beating the Rays 2 out of 3

Sebastian

Yep...The Rays are down again 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th

SOUP

Marlins 7, Orioles 3

bottom of the 8th...

But Pamela Anderson would have made a great WIDE receiver.
