A nice little shout out to Dartmouth

Now on to the Aggies and the beating they have in front of them at 4 p.m.

Solar, that's a great point about coming from behind. We've done it a few times but for the first time I think we'll be able to score points in bunches, quickly.

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are," Wooden would tell them.

LOL, good one.

I like the way Teddy thinks!

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound, Bridgewater explained that he and Rogers will be actively trying to recruit other top athletes to join them at Miami.

“I’m serious about putting together a great class,” he continued. “Some of the players I want to bring to Miami with me are Dallas Crawford, Sammy Watkins, Anthony Chickillo, Nick O’Leary

bg1906

didn't paste the rest! HAHAHA!

Kelvin Benjamin, Jabari Gorman and James Wilder. Those are the types of players we need at Miami, and I'm going to do my best to get them to join me."

bg1906

^^^Funny thing is I think we get EVERY ONE of those guys he said EXCEPT Wilder^^^

HAS POSTED MANY TIMES!

FROM MANNY AT THE MIAMI HERALD:

Just got off the phone with Miami Northwestern quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who called me to confirm that he has committed to the Canes. Here is a short interview I was able to conduct with him in the middle of the Marlins-Mets game.

Q: Why did you decide now was the time to commit to UM?
"Right now, heading into the summer, I figured it was just a good time to do it. I just called coach McGriff and coach Shannon and told them about it. They were actually about to speak at a banquet in Chicago, so I didn't have a chance to talk to them."

Q: Are you still going to take your visits?
"I don't know about the visits. Me and my mom have to talk about that.

Q: Why UM?
"I'm going to be the only quarterback they're going to take. They're in my backyard. They've sent a large number of players and quarterbacks to the NFL. I just want to go there and become the next great one."

Q: Did the fact [former Northwestern quarterback] Jacory Harris is the man at UM play a factor for you in choosing UM at all?
"Not really. Jacory is cool. We're friends. But I'm looking forward to playing with all those guys who went to Northwestern.

Q: How much is this about you wanting to just get the recruiting process over with?
"Honestly, I want to be done with recruiting. I mean, right now, I'm just enjoying it. But it does get crazy."

Q: UM isn't going to have a big class. Do you know for sure you are going to be the only QB in this class?
"I don't know if it was a promise or not. They just said I'd be the only QB they would take."

Solar. Interesting info on whitewater rafting. I'm not sure Forbes should be calling it a sport. It's not like it's football.

I mean how good would Warren Sapp be.
A) Assuming he can swim (I don't know whether he does or not)
B) Assuming other people could fit in the raft with him.

360Cane

What does Manny mean by his last sentence? If the kid says his recruiting for Miami and doesn't know if he'll take other visits (talking to his mom about it) then why would Manny rain on our parade?

"The question now becomes how firm both commitments really are. Both players told me in March that regardless of whom they committed to, they would still take their five recruiting trips. UM coach Randy Shannon has said he takes commitments from players who still take visits with a grain of salt.

Northwestern has been a longtime pipeline to UM. They sent seven players there in 2008 including quarterback Jacory Harris. But I wouldn't consider this a done deal."

Keep the SUSPENSE alive! We told U about "Water Under The Bridge" several days ago. Done deal.

Sebastian

I wouldnt blame any of these kids for taking visits

Its a chance to get away for a few days and enjoy some recruiting love.

Trust in Coach Shannon and trust in Coach Soup

CaneSawMassacre

Its tough out there Sebastian..

These others schools are the same VERY VERY Shady places that Shannon has to deal with breaking rules every day town in Dade county.. Visiting kids more than they should or w/e...

Then he has to trust kids up in their places while they are lavishly throwing all kinds of stuff out there. Duffel bags sometimes can make things interesting for kids, who come from very poor families. It can cause different perspectives.. And you know these kids are hearing all kinds of Bullsh*t and lies..

Now I know we can all be like ohhhhhh

That kid wasn't a TRUE CANE anyway... but that is nonesense..

PJ $$$ got caught up in the hype and the $$$$$$$$$. LSU paid that man. Shannon didn't want anything to do with him afterwards.

5. Morning Riser (cockfighting

I think Morning Riser was the cock that took the title from Little Jerry Seinfeld in the classic Barnyard Bash.

solarcane

skool lol
There will probably a lot of room in our raft a couple seconds into the first class IV rapid

UMike

I don't like the whole Bridgewater is the only qb were taking talk..we should take at least 1 more..imo..unless were planning on taking 3 or so next year.

SOUP

CSM...if any kid goes on a visit to another school and lured away by the promose of $$$, babes or other temptations then U don't want him at The U anyway.

Let 'em go and screw up and make the headlines for all the WRONG reasons somewhere else.

Don't need ya...

Uh huh, but shhhhhhh not so loud.

Bridge may wind up NOT being the only QB we take this year. But that just may the way it turns out. If another top 10 kind of guy wants in he'll get in, but at this time it does not appear that there are any banging down the door to get in in 2011.

Sarasota 'cane

Welcome Teddy!!!!!! I'll bet UM will see a coveted lineman (or two!) fall in line with this anouncement!

There's a storm brewing...

Go 'canes!

Zakkee

Bridgewater just opened up the floodgates (that sounds funny). We needed a respected recruit to believe and others will by into what we're doing now. Teddy's a leader and he's dead serious about being the best. A win in that horseshoe would do wonders for us as well. Got into a heated exchange in the barbershop up here (Cleveland) yesterday. Apparently, we're gonna get blown out the water and there's no need for me to make the trip to Columbus to see my squad get de-cleated. The ironic thing was that I knew more about OSU's current roster and team than my main detractors did. The more ignorant the fan..the more obnoxious they tend to get. You have to yell to mask your lack of knowledge. Informed (true fans) are more level-headed and present facts. There was one true Buckeye fan there and he knows we have a strong chance. The other dudes couldn't name their starting o-line or LB corps this year (and I could), they were totally exposed. Also, now that Latwan's a Cane, nobody remembers him and/or he was "maybe the 4th best player on last years team"...LMFAO! Ok, I hope he takes the opening kickoff back in the "The Pump". Damien Berry, Laron Byrd, Spence, & Brandon Harris are gonna have a field day on Sept 11th.

You're high. I have Steve Garvey at #21 and I will not waver - ha

Only people I will change, is when they're illegal ... and believe me, their replacements are just as good or even better in some sense

Chris Collinsworth - disqualified, so David Eckstein replaced him

Charlie Ward - disqualified, so Tino Martinez replaced him

Ted Hendricks - disqualified, so Leroy Cromartie replaced him

The guys on my bench are strong, just like the 2000-2002 Canes teams

I didn't say he wouldn't be, just may NOT be. I agree with U that there is a 90% chance he will be the only one, but then there is that 10%...

Who are the other QBs we are after? Frazier? Others?
