TE Chase Ford, Corrigan, Texas -- As a junior college transfer (Kilgore J.C., Texas) Ford has the edge in experience over Miami's other tight end signees, Asante Cleveland of Sacramento, Calif., Andrew Tallman of Carthage, N.Y., and Clive Walford of Belle Glade, Fla. At least two of the new tight ends figure to see significant time in 2010.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "The more that we keep addressing our needs and our issues in going after the players we feel will fit at Miami the more we are going to be successful."

-- Coach Randy Shannon, noting the emphasis this recruiting season in filling needs at tight end, offensive line, and linebacker.

YES. If the article is not ready by tonight then I will post something else and we can postpone it for another day.

#14 - Clive Walford (65 Ovr) (Number will need to be edited once its known what his number will be, in recent articles he's said it will be #18. He did wear #14 in HS, but I don't think that number is available at UM)

#14 is available at UM.

Posted by: 86Cane | June 16, 2010 at 03:25 PM

I think someone said #14 is retired.

The Houston Texans have signed fourth-round pick LB Darryl Sharpton, the team announced. A league source confirmed that Sharpton signed a four-year deal worth over $2.32 million with about $535,000 guaranteed. If he hits on playing time escalators, the deal could be worth close to $3.2 million. Profootballtalk.com first reported that Sharpton signed with the Texans.

Sharpton (5-11, 244) was selected with the 102nd overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami (FL).

As a senior, the Miami native started the final 12 games at middle linebacker and led the team with a career-high 106 tackles (65 solo). Sharpton figures to compete for playing time on the weak-side.

Every once in awhile you see something so simple in it's execution and so perfect in conveying it's message you just nod your head and say yeah

Really? Who wore it?

#18 is also available.

86Cane

Testaverde wore #14. UM has 16 members in the Ring of Honor so if they retire all 16 then that would only leave 84 numbers to choose from.

UM has 7 QBs in the Ring. Can U name them?

BTW...this is for Ungar:

#89 Ted Hendricks

Defensive End (1966-68)

A native of Guatemala but raised in Miami, "The Mad Stork" became one of the most feared pass rushers in college football...UM's only three-time All-American (1966, '67 & '68), Hendricks finished his Hurricane career as the leading all-time tackler and was voted fifth for the 1968 Heisman.

Sebastian

I can only come up with 6 of them

Vinny
Bernie
Kelly
Gino
Walsh
Mira

Who am I missing?

Ray Lewis was a freshman All American, a soph All American, jr All American, had he stayed for his senior year and continued to play like he was he would have been a senior All American

Chase Ford

Sounds like a name right out of Talladega Nights doesn't it?

He has it right about Aldarius but Watford? Not so much...

5.Miami
The Canes may lack the elite All American in their unit, but look at all the NFL talent. Leonard Hankerson, who turned down the NFL last year, is a 6’3 target playing alongside 6’4 LaRon Byrd and 6’3 Aldarius Johnson, who may be the most talented of all. This doesn’t even mention Travis Benjamin, one of the fastest players in the nation. Speedy Thearon Collier, Davon Johnson, and Kendal Thompkins and 6’5 Tommy Streeter all posses great talent as well. At tight end, there is a weakness with senior Richard Gordon holding the edge over JUCO transfer Chase Ford, redshirt freshman Billy Sanders, and true freshmen Clive Watford, Asante Cleveland, and Andrew Tallman. The youngsters do have some potential though, and I’m a fan of Sanders and Watford. This is one of the most talented units in the nation, and despite not having a go-to All American they do have a guy with that potential in Aldarius Johnson.

Josh, nice piece on Ford. I think he's going to be a baller. You always want TEs who are athletes and he's definitely an athlete. Mentality and work ethic are right on target as well.

Gottdammm! Talk about hitting the lottery. lol

I hope Sharpton shows a lot more than he showed Us. I always like our boys to make some money, even when they didn't really look right with that U on their helmet.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

CSM, that is some ish. haha. I wonder what they offer a kid other than money? There must not be much of it if TCU lured a ckid away. Then again, kids may want to have fun in college and get their education for free. It's probably a better deal in the long run if they're smart about it.

Ungar

ungar,
nice list we will see if you have any of them correct or any in the right order

Spurrier played all his jr high and high school sports in Tennessee if that helps you a little.

Then I will go with that guy that gave a bunch of money to the Canes for the revamping of their baseball field.

He at least never lost to the Canes, so I can cheer for him a bit.

He loves his school so much that he called it by the wrong name? He clearly says, "The University of California".

This guy is a joke.

CaneSaw - that's the reality of high schoolers getting drafted by MLB, but another reality is that it happens to other big time programs as well ... not just the Canes

They deal with it, so do the Canes

FSU had 5 of their recruits drafted this year ...

- Kaleb Cowart 1st Round (Angels)
- Jose Dore 8th Round (Padres)
- Ben Gamel 10th Round (Yankees)
- Eric Arce 27th Round (Rays)

Arce is a local kid from Lakeland, got arrested for getting to "3rd Base" with his 14 year old girlfriend - which is odd as hell to me, to be 18 and be with a 14 year old? He was charged with lewd battery & lewd molestation

Check this out, it talks about the whole thing

http://video.tbo.com/m/30222795/lakeland-baseball-players-arrested-stirring-up-controversy.htm

I like how the anti-skinny homely looking girl, Rachel Cumberledge, tried to organize a "Kiss-In" in support of these kids? I really have no idea what the hell that even is, but I do know this .... someone should tell Rachel Cumberledge that she is what we called a "practice girl" back in the day. You didn't want her as a girlfriend, but, you knew she'd let you do anything to her if you were bored

Hey, I'm just telling the truth b/c it really happens out there with um .. bigger homely girls

Huh ... you'd think this jabroni read all my heated posts on Canespace, during the Canes vs. Crocs Super Regionals - and decided to use it for an article

Hey Fowler, since you're reading Canespace, why don't you at least give it a shout-out
