I am thankful Yordy went in the second round as I think he ends up enrolling. Or has he made a decision on that already.... Anyone know?

Sebastian

2nd round is going to be tough to pass up

In a couple of months hes going to be 20, so this might be the time to go ahead and make that jump

Ungar

Well, here are the other five guesses that failed to meet the State of Florida standards.

2. Was the best QB ever in the Longest Yard, and I am NOT talking about Adam Sandler

3. Multisport championship athlete who stole his working name from Alcatraz since Dwayne Johnson just didn't strike fear into the hearts of men.

4. He iced his opponents long before Smirnoff started icing people, but not commonly known as Robert Matthew Van Winkle.

5. She was an unstoppable part of a machine, even when her name was Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García.

6. Best. Guatamalan. football player. EVER.

10 Reasons Recruits Should Choose Miami Over Florida

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/406774-10-reasons-college-football-recruits-should-chose-miami-over-florida

Old Skool

Hmmm

Matt Elam
Ronald Powell
Dominique Easley
Shariff Floyd
Chris Dunkley

We should start a pool on who gets arrested first. The winner is determined by selecting the right person and getting closest to the number of days before said person gets booked. Bonus money if the arrest is for a felony.

Old Skool

Regarding the rest of the top 5. My guess is one of them will be 5' 6" and Solar has tried to get a peek at that person's underwear.

86Cane

Hmmmmm...Powell sounds promising?

"I guess for lack of better words, he had behavior issues, problems in interpersonal relationships with other students and teachers."

Duffy's being too nice.

Powell was downright mean, a mess who didn't seem to love much of anything, and perhaps was on the verge of leaving his mountain of potential in a steaming pile.

There are two words for it: lost and angry.

"I was just careless, didn't care about what anybody said, or what they were going through, or what they felt," Powell said. "My parents started splitting up when I was in eighth grade, and my mom and dad took a toll on me. I was going back and forth between them, and there wasn't too much I cared about.

"I would talk back to teachers, cuss them out, I was fighting all the time. I didn't respect nobody, or nothing."

Ungar

Old Skool, cheerleaders might be athletes, but a Top 5 athlete?

Or are you talking about a jockey? (get it, jockey shorts? God I need some coffee....)

86Cane

My guess is one of them will be 5' 6" and Solar has tried to get a peek at that person's underwear.

That's disgusting. True, but disgusting.

bg,

Played the NCAA demo. It is much improved. Much smoother than last years. I would assume NCAA just uses Madden's engine from the previous year. I especially like the quick play call screen during a hurry up.

Raizecane,

What did you like most about E3? Looks like PSN has gone Plus and joined the M$ Live ranks for $50 a year. I guess it's P$N now.

I don't have RDR on PS3 but I do have the console. Looking forward to Killzone 3. Send me an invite and let's connect: "BENKILLN".

As for the AGOF (Arrested Gators of Fall, trademarks and copyrights reserved), I go with Shariff. Anyone who's parents have dealt with the cops that much that they try to give their kid a title combined with the misspelling of the word are a likely candidate for an episode of Cops.

As for Powell, you cannot count prior arrests in the contest, only FUTURE arrests.

One thing I always appreciated about Kilgore College was the Rangeretts. For a small school that is probably the best group of college gals in the country.

Canes can never have enough pitching, or have enough better pitchers either

Gutierrez and Santana were Seniors this year, Wulf was a Senior and who knows what's going through Hernandez's mind in coming back. We don't know how Erickson is going to be

Guts and Santana had the 2nd and 3rd most IP on the Canes ... Erickson had the 4th most, Hernandez was the top dog in IP

All the other kids on the team had the following IP and Appearances:

Wulf (Sr) 15 (18 Appearances)
Nazario (Jr) 10 (10 Appearances)
Robinson (Soph) 28 (19 Appearances)
Miller (Soph) 16 (12 Appearances)
Ewing (Frosh) 24 (8 Appearances)
Grundy (Frosh) 17 (9 Appearances)
Lovecchio (Frosh) 9 (5 Appearances)

Lovechhio is the kid that came in relief during the Dartmouth game and gave up 5 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings

So, who exactly are going to be the starters next year?

Encinosa, Miranda, Whaley and possible Erickson? Possible Ewing, a big kid that throws lefty?

I wonder if Perez and Ratcliff have started working on fielding yet since they got home from Gainesville and if the pitchers have worked on hitting their spots

Six

Fran - you are not kidding .... those girls are very, bendy

I know those white cowboy hats they wear are traditional, but, it might be time to retire them .. the Dale Evans retro semi-pin up look was nice for a long time though

Okay. I'll choose Ronald Powell for my AGOF And give him until right after the season - say February 10, 2011 - at which point, he goes Carl Johnson or Jacques Rickerson on someone.

86Cane

Regarding 2010 recruit Kevin Nelson accusing his coaches of dirty recruiting, Meyer said he didn’t hear about those comments and that Florida worries “about its own business.” Nevertheless, he touched on the subject of how bad ugly recruiting can get.

"We feel very good about our freshman class. Our [defensive line] – those kids are going to play. We don’t redshirt here at Florida – you go play. That’s why we recruit them and that’s why they’re here.

Esteban

Chase Ford is the recruit who could really put this offense over the top this year. Glad to see he's a hard worker. Going to need to put that work in to be ready to play big time this year.

I'll hold off paying the $50 for PSN Plus for now but you knew it would be coming. I currently only play COD MW2 on the PS3 but will be gettingg NCAA, Madden and RDR. If you get RDR, AngryCane plays that game and loves it. he also plays COD along with Moneycane.

From Mike Bianchi:

Florida State owes the NCAA an apology.

A grovelling, heartfelt apology.

Remember a few months ago when former Florida State president T.K. Wetherell was crying and whining about how the mean ol’ NCAA had double-crossed the Seminoles and stuck FSU with unjust penalties in regards to the widespread academic fraud scandal at his school?

In hindsight — after seeing the hammer the NCAA wielded against Southern Cal — how silly does Wetherell’s complaining look now?

Southern Cal, in the wake of a massive cheating scandal involving Heisman Trophy-winning Reggie Bush, lost a total of 30 football scholarships over the next three seasons, will likely have to forfeit its 2004 national championship and has been banned from bowl games for the next two years.

What penalties did Florida State’s football program get for a massive academic cheating scandal that included nine sports and 61 athletes? No significant loss of scholarships, no bowl ban and no TV ban. The Seminoles’ most significant sanction was to forfeit some of Bobby Bowden victories — victories that turned out to be relatively meaningless.

Boy that is one reach for a pun, Ungar, Props, nonetheless, I didn't see it coming.

Look, I've seen dads who go into Hooters or Winghouse - with their little daughters - who are going in there to get their happy hour on. The guys think they've "still got it" b/c some 18 yr old giggling girl in a small obnoxious outfit with their bewbs being pushed up/out of the little shirt they have on, laugh at their stupid jokes or comments, and might touch their hand onto the arm or shoulder of the guy as they ask them what they want to drink .. followed up by "hun", "sweetie", "cutie", etc. And it's a straight shot of testosterone to the guy, b/c the 18 yr old waitress did that .... even though we all know the game, hopefully - that it's all just to get a bigger tip and she could really care less about you

But making sure you have enough Enfamil, some clean diapers in a bag with wipes and your baby's pacifier, so you make sure you don't miss the show that "Mercedes" is giving your friend at his party in the double wide - that's whack

solar, since you got them all right, here are my guesses on your top 4, and a guess as to why you think they will get a few groans when they are displayed:

1. Steve Spurrier (15 YEARS running from the Canes and an 0-1 record against them gets him ahead of the players he was afraid to play?)
2. Chris Evert (15 love after the first serve if I played her, but I hear Jimmy Connors showed her what he called his "decathalong")
3. Deion Sanders (15 catches by Irvin against him, how he can be higher than Irvin when Irvin owned him head to head)
4. Emmitt Smith (15 yards versus the Canes, how is he even ahead of Brock Berlin?)

From www.hurricanesports.com:

University of Miami junior catcher Yasmani Grandal has been named to the 2010 Yahoo! Sports All-America Team, as announced by the website on Tuesday.

Grandal recently wrapped up one of the most productive offensive seasons in school history, leading the Atlantic Coast Conference in batting average (.401), slugging percentage (.721) and on-base percentage (.527) en route to 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year honors.

The Miami native hit safely in 48 of his 62 games played - including 30 multi-hit games - and finished with 24 doubles, 15 homers, 60 RBI, 56 runs scored and 57 walks on the year. He currently ranks among the Top 5 in the ACC in seven different offensive categories, including a .994 fielding percentage that also ranks among the top marks for a catcher nationally.

Texas Rangers rev up recruiting of drafted pitcher

MIAMI -- Having locked up their first two choices in the First-Year Amateur Draft, the Rangers have set their sights on signing their third choice.

But signing Florida prep right-hander Luke Jackson, who the Rangers selected with the 45th overall pick in the compensation round, isn't going to be as quick and simple as first-rounder Jake Skole and Kellin Deglan.

Jackson has received a full-ride scholarship to pitch at Miami, and the Hurricanes are putting on a full-court press to make sure the prize of their recruiting class doesn't sign a professional contract.

So, the Rangers are also doing their best recruiting job after perhaps not doing enough last year when first-round pick Matt Purke eventually landed at TCU.

Jackson was the club's guest at Sun Life Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, and last week was in Arlington to watch Skole and Deglan get the royal treatment after signing their contracts.

"We want to sign this kid, and we want to be sincere about it," assistant general manager Thad Levine said.

"We're trying to do everything we can to recruit him. We know Miami is doing everything it can."

Jackson, who was 8-0 with a 0.90 ERA in the regular season at Calvary Christian High in Fort Lauderdale, said he was in a "win-win situation" no matter what happens.

The Rangers have until Aug. 16 to sign him or else lose his rights.

"I'd like to play in the major leagues," Jackson said. "That's been a goal of mine for a long time, and I just hope it works out." -- Jeff Wilson

For baseball freaks ONLY:

Records: This was the first UM team to record 100-plus homers, 100-plus steals and 20-plus triples. The 108 homers ties for second in school history with the 2008 team. The 103 steals were 42 more than last year and the most since 2005. The 22 triples were 16 more than last year and the most since 2005. Seven players had eight or more homers. Martinez's 21 homers ties him for the ACC lead and is the sixth best single-season mark at UM. He led the team in RBI (69). Pitcher E.J. Encinosa was a Freshman All-American. Average home attendance was 3,124, the most in the Mirris era and nearly 1,000 more per game than a year ago.

raizecane,
3DS is going to be sweet. I just don't get this whole 3D mayhem though. I don't know when you'll require a 3D TV and when you don't. I would assume PS3 will covert the images itself and you won't need a 3D TV. They at least showed the audience Killzone 3 in 3D yesterday and that wasn't on a 3D TV. I'm just confused on the whole thing. It's just carzy how 3D is coming back full force.

I play those games you listed on Xbox. I usually only play PS3 exclusives. Everything goes Xbox.

bg,
It was a done deal. P$N had to catch up with Xbox. I would bet Xbox Live is a huge reason ESPN went with them. Man, I can't wait to replay any game I want on me Xbox. Sa-Weet!
