umike,

The severity of jammed fingers varies greatly... from a mild sprain to stretched or torn ligaments, to fractures. I have a finger that barely bends now, (at age 55), because I "jammed" it when I was 10 and didn't do anything about it.

Yeah, players play injured, and you can't come off the field everytime you get a bump, or get the wind knocked out of you...

You should explain to your son that football is a "collision" sport, and he should expect to get hurt and play in pain often.

HOWEVER, he's still growing and you need to take care that he doesn't damage any growth plates, or doesn't do any other permanent damage.

(Don't forget what a seemingly benign "sprained thumb" ended up becoming for JH.)

Bottom line... take due diligence and provide RICE (REST, ICE COMPRESSION & ELEVATION.) Don't hesitate to take him for x-rays if it looks really bad the next day.

If it doesn't look bad tomorrow, tell him to "rub some dirt on it" and get back to work!

JMHO...

I think everybody should send their under 12 yr old kids to Hillview's house for a summer.

A couple waterboard sessions and a few kidney punches and you have a 7th grader that could start at a lot of Mountain West schools.

Football Camp at Dalton Ga.

Christa Nix, another Dalton graduate, came to the camp with her husband, Patrick Nix, and their four children.

Although unemployed at the moment, Patrick continues to receive payment from the University of Miami, where he had served as offensive coordinator. “A lot of people thought we would go to the Buffalo Bills because Patrick had been Chan Gailey’s offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech,” she said in reference to Gailey being named coach of the Bills in January. “That didn’t work out. It’s just as well, for it gets awfully cold up there.”

How does Nix still draw cash? I thought his contract wasn't renewed after the term had expired?

Mike we all need to fight the never ending pussification of America .

Right here Cap...

"Then too, there was Seantrel's hustle-and-flow pops, Sean, who seemed to reappear in his son's life at about the same time Seantrel began making headlines with his behemoth deeds at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, which also produced athletic prodigies such as All-Star catcher Joe Mauer, Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke and current Notre Dame wideout Michael Floyd."

Dam that's ballsy. Hometown hero bends over, moons the camera and tells the hometown fans to kiss it bye bye on national television.

I guess, in the end, championships count for more than adoration.

Still for Cleveland, it must feel like Marino just signed with the Jets except that he wasn't a hometown hero.

Here's a good clip of Jacory hitting a lot of passes,
Note how wide open our receivers are all over the field on every play.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Old Skool, it's pathetic if you ask me. He has enough clout in Cleveland to organize the team more or less the way Jordan did BUT he's not a Boss and never will be.

His attitude should be, "I don't need two other Olympic stars on my team to win a Ring."

Oh well. That's why there's only one Jordan.

I know who I will be playing with on NBK 2k11...

I was completely wrong, Miami did end up with LeBron - props to you Heat and Heat fans

What's the excuse going to be if LeBron doesn't win a title in Miami? D-Wade and Bosh playing with him - no excuse at all

The Bulls did go to the playoffs the one year that #23 took off, and lost in the 2nd Round to the Knicks

The Heat at 42-40 and the Pacers at 47-35 were the bottom 2 seeds of the Eastern Conference ... a team that goes 2 games over .500 in the Heat makes the playoffs -

People don't think the Cavs could do what the Bulls did this year, going 41-41 and making the playoffs?

I dunno, maybe they couldn't or maybe they could

It's all up for debate - but there is absolutely no excuse for LeBron not to win a Championship now, right?

CaneRock

Six, stop with all this faux hatin', you know your ass probably jumped through the roof as soon as the South in South Beach came out of His mouth...

Cat 5 Cane

.

j.w.

Six, now his team has no bench, center, or point guard. :) Seriously,he's a mercenary now so he better win if he wants his legacy to mean anything. I agree with Barry, Chicago was the better choice for him. And go Celtics in the East.

CaneRock

UMike, I'm with RoachCane, and coming to you as a fellow football dad, examine that boys finger real good. Same thing happened with one of my boys last year. He was a QB on His youth team, and something freak happened while He was at PE. I blew it off as a jammed finger only to find out it was a fractured pinkie. And also, since he's playing middle school ball, don't be afraid to start him on a strength program, I started mines on the Bigger Stronger Faster program, it's pretty good.

Chi Mia 'Cane '98

Living in Chicago, I was never a big LeBron fan, but I lost a lot of respect for him tonight.

He will never be Jordan no matter what... There may never be a Jordan. The closest to him maybe be Kobe.

j.w.

Agree, Chi.

I couldn't agree more!

Montreal-Cane

Give us your opinion and projections on SH...

Do you think Seantrel Henderson will be more of a distraction or a great addition for the Canes?

Will he think that he is bigger than the team?

How about his work ethic? Is he out of shape?

Do you think the Canes desperately need him?

Is he in for another surprise and pick OS,ND or another team?

Will he annonce on friday, saturday, sunday or monday?

How high maintenance will his father be?

Is he another 5 star player nightmare for the Canes or perhaps a future Cane and NFL hall of famer?

All of the above are only questions.

In Randy we trust!

Let's go Canes!!!

I was thinking the same thing. When a city has "star power", kids gravitate to it.

Go 'canes!

CanesFanStuckInCali

Sup Fellas,

I know this is totally random, but did you guys know that SEAN TAYLOR was a 3-star recruit?!?!?! WTF?!?!

Star systems are total BS. Any system that had Sean Taylor as a 3-star and that was responsible for Ed Reed only having one other offer in TULANE is totally bogus!

And to think that Coach Fudd swore by these systems! *Sigh*

So glad BossMan knows what he's doing!

GO CANES!!!

conch salad

Canesfanstuckincali,

No surprise there. I went to HS with Sean at gulliver, and while he was amazing to watch in HS, he was playing against mostly crappy teams that had more kids with Jew fro's than athletes. So it's no surprise he wasn't ranked high. Thankfully he led us to a state champ and make a name for himself locally. Butch was the man for recruiting him though. He also grew freakishly in college, cuz I actually weighed more and could squat more than him oour senior year. So he wasn't a player who peaked in HS like a lot of the 5 star guys. He developed at the U.

CaneRock - you're crazy brah, ha

Didn't like LeBron, don't like LeBron, won't like LeBron

Didn't help the way he acted after the Magic eliminated him, with him just walking off the court and acting like a punk in the press conference afterward

I've got 15 people in my news room at work that will tell you that I was watching the Rays game and didn't even flinch or ask a word about the LeBron circus that ESPN had

Even they couldn't believe it, that I didn't watch one second of it. I told them I got more excited and was held in more suspense about if Hawai'i would win the Little League World Series in 2005 and in 2008 ...... both of which they did win and I went nuts

Family got tickets to the Magic back in 1989, and I've been a fan of the Magic since 1989

I was there back in the day, watching them win 18 games, 21 games, 31 games, 41 games and then finally breaking through with 50 games my Senior year in High School

I remember Curly Neal from the Harlem Globetrotters, wearing a Magic uni and going on television to try and get people to buy tickets their first season

Terry Catledge, Scott Skiles, Reggie Theus, Otis Smith, Sam Vincent, 3D Dennis Scott, Nick Anderson, Bison Dele, Chris Corchiani, Steve Kerr, Anthony Bowie, Tree Rollins, Brooks Thompson, Darrell Armstrong, Rony Seikaly, Spudd Webb, Gerald Wilkins, Michael Doleac, Matt Harpring, BJ Armstrong, Horace Grant, Fat & Old Dominique Wilkins, Big Ben Wallace, Chucky Atkins, Mike Miller, Old Man Dee Brown, Grant The Robber Hill, Ancient Pat Ewing, Shawn the Goodyear Blimp Kemp, Andrew Useless DeCercq, etc.

Those are the cats I watched and suffered with and still watch and suffer with - no one else

I was there in the O-Rena when the Magic took Chris Webber with their pick - and then they traded it for some skinny kid that we'd seen a few months earlier in the NCAA Tourney at the O-Rena, playing with then called "Memphis State", named Anfernee Hardaway

Everyone cheered when they took Webber, and then let out a big "uhhhhh" groaning sound when the trade was announced

I remember playing American Legion summer ball in high school, playing out near Altamonte Springs - and the team we were playing had one of Pat William's kids on it. Pat Williams was at the game, and every chance we could in between innings, we were all yelling at him from the dugout and on-deck circle to draft Shaquille O'Neal. He just smiled, laughed, each time and tried to ignore us - but it's hard when you have an entire dugout of kids yelling at you for 8 innings

I'm a big D-Wade guy, wish like the hell the Magic had him somehow someway. I loved his game at Marquette and thought he should've been taken 1st in the 2003 draft, not LeBron - and I couldn't believe the Pistons took Milicic at #2 instead of D-Wade. No one should've questioned him at all after what he did with Marquette in leading them to the Final Four

You look at that 2003 draft and only D-Wade has led his team to a championship .. not LeBron, not Carmelo, not Milicic, not Bosh, not TJ Ford, not Hinrich, not Collison

So ya, once again, congrats to the Heat for keeping D-Wade, getting Bosh and LeBron ... but I'm in no way excited about it, esp. since they're in the same Division and Conference with the Magic .. eeesssh

Word on the street in Ohio is that West slept with LeBron's mommy and is the reason we saw him drop off in the playoffs.

People want to jump on LeBron for leaving but shouldn't the blame fall on the owner and GM?

Watching Mike and Mike and they're going over the letter the owner publicly released. Whata moron.
