Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

Rumor's are also swirling that some their current commits are starting to look around, namely Wittek, one of the qb they've got a verbal from, reports are saying he is looking into Oregon.

Because when USC wins the Pac10, the number 2 team goes to Pasadena!

Oregon will be that number 2 team, and maybe even number 1.

I stopped caring for Seantrel Henderson before he made his original committment to SC. That NY Times article that detailed how he and his father tackled recruiting turned me off. His father was miffed that Pete Carroll left for Seattle and "didn't give him a call". Seantrel made Randy Shannon wait two hours in his living room while he had his hair done. Randy Shannon must be desperate to wait that out. I'd never wait that long for a recruit, especially if it takes him two hours to do his hair. What kind of man spends that long doing his hair? I just see too much prima donna need for coddling from this kid. This is football--no coddling!

Not sure Henderson would be a good thing for the Canes...Too high maintenance...him and his Dad...

Missing In Action

INSIDE USC By Scott Wolf on July 5, 2010 4:01 PM

Seantrel Henderson remains in limbo after visiting Miami last weekend.

Meanwhile, linebacker Glen Stanley is looking to transfer to Florida State. Sources said his transfer is not related to NCAA sanctions. But I doubt USC will give him a release to allow him to transfer without sitting out a year.

I feel you on the race thing Cap. I've actually halfway steered away from using the term "African-American" as of late.

With out getting to much into race or politics, I'll just say its inaccurate.

But Shannon being the first________coach to win the big one..............It is very significant to me, even if not for anyone else.........

Hurri, what's with the abbreviated name?

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

I hate to make to make it a race issue, (cause the only colors that really matter are orange n' green) but consider how long college football has been played, and how "American" the sport is, then wait until Coach lifts that crystal ball, being the first African-American coach to do so. A lot of people may not grasp the significance of this.

It will have significance only if people continue to subscribe to the myth called RACE.

Barack Obama barely has anything to do with America, in thought or deed, and only skated in to office because so many Americans still believe "race" is something other than a myth.

yeah, so far DVD has been closer to Sharpe..all the speed in the world but lacking *true* confidence (the kind that is proved by your play..not your mouth) and focus at times. DVD was terrified in that OU game against WR Malcolm Kelly, but Kelly Jennings was never scared even with a broken hand he stuck some of the best including Calvin Johnson for the most part. One thing I'll never forget about Jennings was that the only completions made against him were perfect passes. Opposing QB's had to throw perfect to be successful against him. I loved the way he played.

Zaro, those are some good picks to step up this season: AJ, DVD & He-Man...lol.

Hurri'

Zak,

But Jennings stayed with his man, 8 outta' 10 go's. DVD is closer to Glen Sharpe than Kelly if you ask me.

But last year, I gave props..........Kid tackled better than both of the latter combined! I was shocked!

zarokon

on playing early this is what Latwan Anderson said...i hope he plays either Safety or Corner...i love our class and the late additions of Anderson and Henderson is just perfect!

`If they give me a chance, I can be one of the reasons why we win that game . . . because I hate [the Buckeyes] so much.''

Also. Are their a couple people on this team that you guys want to see produce and see some change in...

Aldarius Johnson- He has all the tools but that injury in the Florida St game I believed killed him into late in the season.

Marcus Robinson-I thought he would kill this year and at times he was unstoppable but im sure with R.Petri he will thrive in not having to play all the time and better coaching.

DaMarcus Van Dyke- Had been starting for sometime reminds me of Kelly Jennings.

Hurri'

College Football Live on ESPN had LOTS of the U on today.

First they spoke about teh Seantrel H case, and ALL three guys said that USC should RELEASE Seantrel! One of teh guys even said FREE SEANTREL!

NICE!

Maybe USC will feel some National pressure now to step up and let the kid go.

They also started their "What if?" daily series with the U beating Nebraska on Calhoun's 2 point conversion attempt pass break up.

2. 2002 Draft – Miami

Starring: Bryant McKinnie, (No. 7), Jeremy Shockey (No. 14), Phillip Buchanon (No. 17), Ed Reed (No. 24), Mike Rumph (No. 27), Clinton Portis (No. 51)

The 2001 national champs were in high demand and when the first round ended the Hurricanes tied the record for most first round selections from one school (5). They ended up with 11 picks in the draft.

Years later in 2006, McKinnie spoke of Miami’s football pedigree: “If you put together a team made up of guys playing in the NFL who come from the University of Miami, we’d be playing in the Super Bowl this season. And I think we’d win.” No argument here.

Doc Ibis

Wasn't Samuel Adams as in Sam Adams as in Sammy Adams or Sammy Watkins also a president?

Either way, on scout this dude said it wasn't Watkins so I'm guessing its one of the George's... Atkinson hasn't visited yet and from Mike Bakas' reports Farmer has us in his top two but with a 25% chance of him picking us... These kids don't tell the recruting analysts everything because Eli Rogers committed to the coaches about a month before his and Teddy's commitment became verbal...

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Six, it's not really tough love it's just that he hasn't really accomplished anything in his profession yet that's on the level with the 50 mentioned.

Once he starts dominating CFB with ACC and NC rings, it'll be different.

Are there any coaches on the list btw?

Six

I agree that Boss Man Shannon is someone all Canes fans should be proud of - my man has gone through more than any person on here most likely has ever gone through

I've been in his corner, through thick and thin, since day 1 - no one can deny that

The complete and unsubstantiated evidence would be, go back and look at the blogs during the football seasons from my entire time here on Canespace. I think everyone remembers how insane people get on here during games, making outrageous claims of how Shannon should be fired b/c of the Canes performance during the games .. how Shannon is only a black Ron Zook .. how Shannon doesn't have this or that or whatever .. how Shannon should be fired b/c he shows no emotion that the CAMERAS ALLOW YOU TO SEE on the sideline, along with just how horrific he is with time management (which is a completely overblown statement) .. etc. etc.

With that all being said, for everyone that thinks Boss Man should be in the Top 50, I hope none of you then questioned the choosing of: Dick Howser, Lou Piniella or Tony LaRussa - that solar and I chose

If you can provide me with the stats of Boss Man when he played with the Cowboys - go ahead, we'll match them up to the stats of Piniella, Howser or even LaRussa in MLB

Shannon did win rings .. so did Piniella, Howser and LaRussa

They obviously didn't have to go through the same struggles that Boss Man did, no one is saying that and would be crazy to even think that

But, to say that he should be at #30 over all those other people, that's pretty bold. I like how bold it is, but, ya gotta come up with why he should be ranked over the likes of: Tommie Frazier, David Eckstein, Danny Wuerffel, LeRoy Butler, etc.

Even Lomas Brown - The Damn Gator that he is, was still:

- All-Century Team in FHSAA
- 1st Team All-SEC
- 1st Team All-American
- Played in 263 NFL games, starting 251
- 7 Time Pro Bowler
- 7 Time All-Pro

That's not bad .. even for The Damn Gator

Credit is finally coming Boss Man's way for rebuilding the Canes, little by little, in the 5 year project that it should be from when he took over. A lot of people said it should only take him 2 to 3 years maximum, simply b/c "This is Miami" - that's absurd

When Boss Man wins the ACC and then a National Championship - then I'll possibly put him in my Top 50. Until then, it's tough love that I'm showing the guy I've been behind since DAY ONE

Miami's Harris joins Pata family's clinic

Associated Press
MIAMI -- Bryan Pata's family hosted hundreds of children for a football clinic on Saturday, calling it another way to celebrate the slain Miami player's life.

Several players from Miami, including Hurricanes quarterback Jacory Harris, and FIU took part in the clinic, although very few of them ever met Pata, who was killed nearly four years ago.

No arrests have been made in the case. Miami-Dade police officials have told the family that their investigation remains open.

Pata's brother, Edwin Pierre-Pata, says the foundation that he helps run in his brother's name is trying to both educate the college players on how to avoid violence, as well as provide positive role models for kids.

j.w, somehow i feel like you hate L$U the most out of all the SEC teams, for whatever reason we don't blast LSU much compared to other hated teams, i mean they stole a good number of recruits from us, they should be in the top 5 most hated by canes fans just by coming in here in south florida and in trying to raid the U's backyard.

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

Anywayz, i think Wade comes back, no way he turns down 125 million dollars, he goes to Chicago and he'll have to pay luxury tax, and there is no guarantee he plays along side Derrick Rose, the kid will be a casualty of a sign-and-trade as soon as he gets there. What has Chicago offered that we have not yet.

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

Spence- did Wade agree to come back to the Heat? If he did and you're a Heat fan, that's a bigger story than any HS recruit just because a million things can go wrong with any recruit, but Seantrel would be huge!

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

Question:

Should you be more excited with Wade finally deciding on signing back with Miami?

Or

Should you be more excited with all these rumors about SH leaving SC for the U being true?

Also, if Richt gets fired in the future and become unsuccessful getting a HC job, should Randy Shannon extend an offer to him as a coordinator or something being that his got some U ties.

Also, did we not offer Gerrod Holliman who is now an Ole Miss commit because Wayne Lyons is expected to choose the U or atleast have Miami high on his list?

Lastly,I was thinkin' that WR that is high on us with a last name of a president is really Kelvin Benjamin, i'm thinkin' 100 dollar bill, then again it hit me, Benjamin was really never a president and was just part of the four fathers.

Finally, what are the chances we still land Anthony Rabasa who have us in his top 6, and B Dubose who is high on Miami as well assuming Chikillo commits to us in the future?

On the side note, per ESPN insider, Jeremy Davis is still waiting on his academic clearance until August, he may still slip in.

Henderson would have to be released from his tender by USC to be eligible to play elsewhere next season. Evidence exists that USC coach Lane Kiffin assured Henderson there would be no major penalties for football, and that could be used in a waiver request to leave USC.

Yeah, I'd probably have him in the lower half, somewhere around 25 - 40. He wins an NC, and he jumps in to the top 20.

If you look at his background, what he's overcome, what he's accomplished, and his steadfast, "doing it my way" approach, I think the deserves to be on this list. I know I certainly feel pride in having him as our coach. I understand how some might say "wait and see", but just based on his accomplishments to date, and the "proud" factor, he deserves in.

From www.twincities.com, nothing new but just confirming what we all talked about yesterday:

Psst: Seantrel Henderson, the 6-foot-8, 350-pound Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman who committed to Southern California before the Trojans were severely penalized by the NCAA, was in Miami on Saturday. The Hurricanes were believed to be Henderson's second choice behind USC, which has been futilely waiting for him to report.

Henderson would have to be released from his tender by USC to be eligible to play elsewhere next season. Evidence exists that USC coach Lane Kiffin assured Henderson there would be no major penalties for football, and that could be used in a waiver request to leave USC.

Warren Sapp, 1994

Sapp originally arrived at Miami as a tight end before emerging at the defensive tackle position. His three-year Hurricane totals included 176 tackles, 19.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumbles recovered and five passes deflected.

Sapp was an All-American his junior season. He won the Lombardi Award -- given to the nation's top lineman/linebacker, and was a finalist for the Outland Trophy in addition to winning UM's first Bronko Nagurski Award.

Then they look at Richt, who can't do anything but shrug his shoulders. He had his shot to at least win the conference and get in a BCS game that one year but they buckled and crumbled under the pressure of being #1.

Now, esp. with the U about to rise back to the top, he's done. Stick a fork in him.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Shannon doesn't deserve to be on that list.....YET.

After he wins 40 straight games, and 3 consecutive NCs, we can talk. haha

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

BG, maybe I haven't seen enough GA games, but I wouldn't want Richt as OC. I know he did some things at FSU but I've never really been impressed with his UGA's offenses, esp. against serious defenses. And at FSU they just ran a spread all the time playing in the formerly very weak ACC.

Again, maybe I've missed something.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

I don't know where the truth lies, but apparently Damon Evans was a strong supporter of Mark Richt. After a couple of mediocre seasons and one in which the Dawgs were going to contend for a NC, the Dawg pack is starting to bay.

If Damon goes, supposedly Richt's seat is going to get very hot.

Posted by: Old Skool | July 05, 2010 at 07:54 AM

Skool, Richt is done because he'll never catch up with FL or Bama, and AUB and TN will be on his neck here shortly as well.

He doesn't hate to lose and even though UGA hasn't been a real national powerhouse in a long time, neither has Bama BUT now they are.

So all the GA natives are looking at their team and saying, "If Bama, FL and even LSU can do it, why can't we?"

Then they look at Richt, who can't do anything but shrug his shoulders. He had his shot to at least win the conference and get in a BCS game that one year but they buckled and crumbled under the pressure of being #1.

There it is right there!

I agree 100%. A lot of emphasis was placed on the "proud" aspect of it, which is fine, I understand that, that's why some great athletes were not ranked as high.

But RS is South Florida born and bred and he deserved to be somewhere on the list.

Dan Morgan, 2000

Miami middle linebacker Dan Morgan became the second Hurricane defender to win the Bronko Nagurski Award. Morgan started 43 games at linebacker, the most starts by any Miami linebacker ever and the most by any Hurricanes defensive player in the history of UM football.

Morgan helped lead the Hurricanes to a 10-1 season and an invitation to the Sugar Bowl. Morgan holds the school record for career tackles with 507 and is the only player in UM history to record over 100 tackles in four consecutive seasons. He led the Hurricanes in tackles in 2000 with 123, and he ranked in the top 10 in the nation in tackles per game throughout the season.

Morgan became first player ever to win college football's three top defensive awards available to linebackers: the Butkus Award, the Bednarik Award and the Nagurski Award.

Great job Six and solar, one small comment.

How could you leave Randy Shannon out of the top fifty? I understand not being top ten or twenty but the guy is a historical figure. I'm big on results, am against afirmative action, and hate excuses but he easily belongs on a top 50 list.

NCs as a player, NCs as an assistant coach, and then the first black head coach at The U.

Not to mention the part about making us proud. You know how proud I am when talking college football and someone makes a Thug U reference and I can confidently say, Not anymore.

The picture above his desk in his office says it all. A well dressed businesman on his way to work. Is the guy a business man or ballplayer? You can't tell by the way he is dressed or the way he carries himself. Jackie Robinson.

Once again, great job. Just think Shannon should be in the top 50.

Six... Sorry, I thought it was you when I responded.

On Chris Evert...Understand that I think she is a great champion and deserving of #1 status in womens tennis... I agree.

I guess My real problem was that I was trying to compare rankings of "best" athlete when it's impossible to compare life records of a non contact sport to a contact sport and from a group sport to a individual sport... it should not be done!

I read the book the Blind Side and also Lemmings book which had some parts on Oher. I don't remember him being a highly touted football recruit until he was at that Christian school. Basketball was his passion but for a big guy he wanted to play like a guard, wanted to be like Mike:)Jordan

If Richt is fired and say Whipple does leave, wouldn't mind have ol Mark come and be the OC. Welcome back to Miami Mr. Richt! HAHAHAHAHA! All of this is just speculative talk, PLEASE DON'T make it more than it is, just me thinking out loud.

Hey guys, I'd like some opinions. I know this is the place for that!

I'm going to join one of these websites for UM info during the spring. Which is best? Should I join Scout, Rivals or Inside the U? Rate your answers purely on content please.

BG, I know this will be something you have an opinion on, make sure to give me your 2 cents please.

Posted by: CanesAddiction | July 04, 2010 at 05:33 PM

Purely based on frequency and content Rivals. But Ferman gets misled A LOT. ITU has a unique set of stories and does a good job covering the S. Fla kids because they actually go out and see them, they offer a unique perspective, but they are anti-Shannon and that pisses me off. Scout is by far in last place, BUT they have some good msg boards and Bakas usually is a little better with information than Ferman, though Ferman breaks all the stories first. If I could only do just one it'd be Rivals, but I have some great "partnerships" that allow me to visit and frequent all the sites.

At any rate, its just info, don't take ANY of it as fact all the time, as you learn to decipher who has legit info and who doesn't, you'll learn to make your own strong "gut" assumptions. Also by being a part of all 3 sites, you can REALLY compare the things the kids say to these reporters and REALLY decipher what they are thinking....TOO A DEGREE. Recruiting is NEVER 100% so that's why even with strong leans like Chickillo I still only say 99%! HAHAHA! BUT I think in the end he's All U All Day! Sorry CSM, I told ya! :-)

bg1906

bg...thanks for the updates on SH. What's your GUT feeling on this one?

Zarokon...bg had all but about guaranteed us that Chickillo will be a Cane, not a Gator.

Posted by: SOUP | July 04, 2010 at 01:33 PM

I told CSM Chickillo LOVES us. He can't help it, in his blood. Will not do us like Patchan. I don't believe he has that in him. I think 99% Cane.

As far as SH...

Smoke = Fire, and there is PLENTY of smoke. I think they are just trying to keep it quiet. Thing is, we CAN’T talk to him OFFICIALLY without a release in place, so if Keyshawn is to be belived, that MUST have happened or all of this is a big RUMOR.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Schnelly is king, Johnson built attitue, Erickson brought continuity and awesome chaos to win, Butch was a savior/ and wreckless, Larry was steady and naive, Randy has been steadily progressing and is ready to explode and put UM on the map again.

>>>>>

Schnell built the machine and the foundation but JJ turned it into a dy-nasty. Erickson rode the bull for a minute but he couldn't handle the pressure and the challenge. Butch rebuilt the dynasty then Coker ran it into the ground throuh ignorance and cowardice.

Now we have the son of JJ and Schnell who's determined to DOMINATE.

Mr Troutman

I can say this though Shannon has brought this team from the pitts to at least being on the mountain top again. I was on here when we were belittle and thrown out of Sooners stadium in 07...Ou knew we wasn't that talented at that time but somehow we stayed in the game until the 4th. Two years later we met up with the same team maybe not some players but still had its' nucleus intact and we won.. So all I'm saying is if U LOOK AT THE PATTERN YOU CAN SEE US STEADY BUILDING MOMENTUM. I always said that long suffering brings great rewards...and who better fit this situation then the Canes right now. We were hit with hard times for 7 years now...slapped around, man handled, laugh at..just plain stempede on. I'm going to be the first to be overwelmed when we win the NC because i can truly say this SIX ONE will be a very emotional one because us as a Cane nation whether players, coaches or fans has been through hell and back so U HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WHERE I'M COMING FROM.

Windy, GREAT first-hand reports. This is the sort of information that confirms the things we've been hearing.

It is kind of amazing, now that you give that 4-5 year comparison. God, what shytty shape we were in.

1st Time Cane

Capt. O,
The Canes have transformed over the last 4 -5 years. They do not have the 5'11" DTs, and the awkward DBs they had 4-5 years ago. The Canes current transformation starts with their physical stature. Today's team looks taller, bigger and more impressive. They pass the eyeball test. The 1999-2002 Canes also passed the eyeball test.

These recruits are big, starting with Bailey, Regis, Porter, Fortson and their friends along the DL - They are 2-3 deep along the DL. The OL is bigger, more athletic and nastier than the past, although they are inexperienced. Even the DBs are bigger and faster, and we did not have DBs like Ray Ray who is a legit 6'4"-6'5" and has long arms and is athletic.

Then, there is speed at nearly every position. This team is much faster at WR and DB, and even the LBs and RBs are faster and more powerful. For example, 5 years ago, Sam Shields was the best WR and Javaris was the best RB as freshmen. Now, Shields (one of my favorite Canes) and Javaris could not see the field with this currrent group of Canes.

The current Canes also line up and run the plays well. I also like the pro style offense and defense, and the execution was better. I also have to believe that they have more experience and will overcome some of the lack of preparation, seriousness and leadership that plagued the team in certain games.

This is a seriously talented team, and every opponent the Canes face this year know it.

I thought the Canes would win 10 games last year, but the injuries and mistakes caught up with them. they still took a huge leap forward last year with two new coordinators and a coach without a contract extension. This year, they should take even more steps forward, and if they do limit the turnovers and grow at every position, they have a chance to be SPECIAL!

-----------------------------------------

The Canes have progressed and been reborn. The talent level was at an all time low.... And the player mentality ( Me first, NFL second, everthing else last) was disease ridden and poisoning to a once promised land for premiere football.

Shannon has brought back a once forgotten mentality. Brought back players with attitude and an understanding of new age rules and etiquette. Also he brought a NEW understanding that expectations are demanded OFF the field as well. You have to act RIGHT and be a MAN>>> " I don't care if you ever contribute a touchdown, or a game-changing tackle but you must always learn to be a man, a gentleman, an educated person with respect for authority and rules," said Randy Shannon in 2007.

Things have changed Wendy.

He has put together a team with very impressive recruiting, bringing in talent, bringing in educated, skillful, football talents.

If Coach Shannon brings the U back to dominance during the ERA of "College Football Supremacy in U.S.A. Sports", after what he took over in terms of (talent, discipline, mentality and leadership) he would be immortalized in Hurricane Lore..

Schnelly is king, Johnson built attitue, Erickson brought continuity and awesome chaos to win, Butch was a savior/ and wreckless, Larry was steady and naive, Randy has been steadily progressing and is ready to explode and put UM on the map again.

Who is more important to a business... The man who created it (Schenlly with no expectations) or the guy who saves the business from probably bankruptcy in a time of turmoil and chaos. (with high expectations)

"Classic"

I swear some creepy person that sends high school kids messages through Online Networking Sites like, Facebook,Twitter, or Mypace please tell Anthony this... If he did what I just said and then balled out and won a couple championships too as he stars on defense...

They could make a documentary about him "The Return of the U" or some gay feature film like, "A Blind Side".. For Michael Oher's non football caring parents, who just only happened to be Ole Miss alumni... and just happened to be season ticet holders for the Ole Miss football team, and just oddly enough found a black 6'8 325 pount left tackle who didn't play for their daughter's local team in the ghetto. ( Oddly when off several other black adopted kids adopted by this family that made it pro.... O wait... that would be zero). They also just happened to be a little more different then how the movie depicted....
The movie makes it like they found him then he learned how to ball, because he was sooooo raw. He was already a HIGHLY rated recruit who had played at another school before going to that high school is senior year. And had two solid years before his senior year where he went to the other high school.

I promise if it was any other player and any other incident this would be a behind the scenes documentary on the downfall of college athletics. If the was a kid from the U we would be under investigation.

Sandra Bullock is great... But she isn't that real husband and lady.. Sorry I smashed on a top film and feel good story. BUT that is real life.

Wayne Lyons saves the day for South Florida Express with a pass breakup at the goal line on a diving play.

National Champions! SFE takes it 20-13.

This is the 2nd National Title for Bridgewater, who won another one as a junior in Oregon.

Question:

If Anthony Chickillo a would be 3rd generation Miami Hurricane does commit to our team after putting together a top two of UF and US.......

While at the ceremony he states he never seriously considred UF... "Hurricane is in his blood but he wanted to make sure that UF was along for the ride the whole way, and he wanted to remind Gator fans that UM has dominated this rivalry for the latter part of 25 years, and if UF will man up and continue this rivalry again... UM will dominate in the future"

Flashes the "U"..

Then ends the press conference.

Where would he rank all time as a CANE RECRUIT!! He is the anti-poon tang, I mean the anti-Patchan!

Coach...thank for the update! GO Canes!!!
