shwarma I was just kidding about Shannon.lol

Another thing is Ohio State is personal to Us the U fans, we are out for blood for sure.

While in reality we could lose to Ohio State go 11-1 play for the NC.

WindyCane1

I like winning on the field, but Collier, Wesley and Futch need to take care of business in the classroom. They will be missed, but it will send the right message to the rest of the football team. The Canes will not miss a beat without them. It will free up some schollies for Henderson and Anderson.

Great game

Rays win

The 813s own Matt Joyce hits a 3 run HR to lead the Rays to the 3-2 victory

That was the loudest crowd I ever heard at the Trop

Sebastian

I get to see a great great game and then I get to read some junk about possible suspensions and players leaving the team

What the heck are you guys trying to do to me

I dont drink, I dont do drugs so how am I expected to deal with this emotional letdown

I knew going back and reading posts was one day going to be bad news

Back to the car and off to the Skyway!!!!!!!

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

It looks like The "U" once again is going to miss out on alot of top players in the state. Reading about the Gridiron Kings camp on Rivals and their recruitng thoughts, it looks like Steward, O'leary, Lyons, Waisome, Benjamin, Newberry and Jernigan, Magget, plus Wilder don't have to much interest in Miami. Most have all talked of Fla, and FSU as being there most likely destination. I realize we have limited schollies this year but we need to be 4 star loaded this year, with it being a small class. I know Shannon is a good recruiter but it seems he's starting to get Like Coker and scanning the globe for players and forgetting the livestock we have here in-state. Anyone have any insight on what we may or may not get?

>>>>>>

Carolina, have you noticed the kids we already have committed from SoFl?? lol

It's always funny to me how the sky is ALWAYS falling if we don't land EVERY LAST SINGLE supposedly highly ranked kid from SoFl.

Maybe you didn't pay attention to the way our current SoFl commits have been dismantling the best from the rest of the country.

Or maybe you didn't check to see if these supposed kids we're missing out on are able to qualify, play a position we need/want, or maybe, just maybe THEY WANT TO PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Funny how you didn't say it sucks for UF that they're not getting the cream of SoFl like we are. But I guess you can't say that about UF right? Why? Because there's always plenty of talent to go around.

Have you seen Benjamin's reel and compared it to Dorsett??

Remember that 2001 team? How stacked they were? How many of those kids were 5-stars from SoFl?? A few but a lot of them were 3 Stars. And one of the main ones was from Gainesville itself. And a few weren't even 1 Stars..I refer to Santana Moss and Ed Reed.

I won't even talk about how our recruiting classes were ranked in the 80s...Steve Walsh, you remember that guys who should've been 38-0 with two NCs were it not for some cheating Irish refs....his only other offer was a possible 'ship from NORTHWESTERN....not the one in MIA, the one in ILL.

So let the pessimism rest bro'. Listen to BG, Canez1 and a few other recruiting experts for the scoop. We might miss a player but we'll also snatch a player from UF, like 3 guys in this incoming class...Ty Cornelius, who comes from a family of Gator grads, and Nelson and Davis.

But since no one EVER notices how many players we snatch from UF, you automatically think we're losing out.

And RR and Dyron Dye come from FSU and UF territory. Hmmmmmm.

shwarma

Capt, I wasn't even going to give that guy a repsonse. To me that's ignorance talking. (and I don't mean in the stupid way but in the unknowing sort of way).

He was talking like every kid in FL wants to go to Miami and has the grades, then on top of it the coaches have to like him because he has the star rating. listen sometimes i do think the coaches could SLIGHTLY play to the kids a little more (and let me re-emphasize ever so slightly and that is more just because of generational differences) but if a kid needs to be chased or sold on BS forget it no thanks. I only want hard workers who got their head on straight.

Carolina I have to disagree

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Collier??? What the hell? And what's Wesley doing??

As someone else said, Futch is the one that hurts the team the most.

I'd hate to see Collier leave though. He's worked hard and been through a lot.

shwarma

Yeah I was the one who said about Futch but as Solar and I were discussing two games if true isnt a big deal since they are out of conference to start with. We wont go through a season full strength anyway we just all want us to be 100% for Ohio St.

And if Collier is out for the year, my LOF of Thompkins is looking better and better

86Cane

They will be missed, but it will send the right message to the rest of the football team. The Canes will not miss a beat without them. It will free up some schollies for Henderson and Anderson.

Next thing you know somebody is going to tell me that Arthur Brown is leaving U as well

PhillyCane

Hershey.. not bad. Im definetely going to sell my tickets so we can all be in next to each other or atleast in the same section.

C1 said he is going to look into this weekend to find out where our section will be at than we can all grab tix. But those seats looked good to me

'87 Canes

LMAO @ sebastian57....hilarious

PhillyCane

C1.. we gona tear it up in station square for a nice pregame for the game.. i hope the canes fans come out and roll deep

PhillyCane

Actually Hershey.. for the okla game last year in miami i sat in seats like those and didnt enjoy them as much as I thought I would. The seats I got for the pitt game now are second level within the first three rows @ 30 yd line.. for like 70$ a piece too

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Shwarm, this Futch situation must be what Shannon meant when he said 2 frosh will have to play.

shwarma

Capt could be. Though I am hoping Futch takes this as a wakeup call if its true. After the incident in high school and this rumor, he is seeming to be a bit of a bonehead.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

I'd hate to see Wesley leave like this though. He's one of the last of the Cokerites and he seems to be doing well, esp. with Petri. Hopefully it's a suspension.

HersheyCane

Phillly,
Check back this weekend and I want to go and hook up with as many CANES as we can, barring I got the dough since we just moved, but just let me know what you find out. I definately would like to go. Are you planning on staying overnite?

Nahh, Futch is definitely not a bonehead, not after the way he handled the grade thing with his school then the injury then his brother's death....missing a couple of classes is just a moment's immaturity, not a trend. I think Sean Taylor did something similar when he was here. Futch will be fine.

Wesley, though, who knows. He's close to a nice chunk of change with Petri teaching him and the team set to make a run. I hope a moment's foolishness doesn't undo what he's done.

orange 'n green in the vein

Pimp was keeping my LOF Steeter off the field, but he was my favorite WR from that class, I'm not going to lie.

Six

I love the tenacity of The Playmaker, when he was at Miami and also with the Cowboys

It seemed as if no one ever worked harder than him and no one got people more riled up than him

But I have to call him out on something ...

I remember when Boss Man Shannon was hired and off the record he said that it was basically a mistake - but now, he's gone completely the other way and is playing the "good ol' buddy, good ol' teammate" card with Boss Man Shannon

If you're going to be that way, at least come out and say publicly that you didn't like the hire of Shannon at first and how you thought it was a mistake .... but have now come over to the other side in thinking that Boss Man really was a good choice in handling the program

I can't stand people that can't admit their mistakes, basically being non-accountable, and then act like they were in the person's corner the entire time ... even though they weren't

Hey, we all make mistakes - it's whether we can admit to them or not that defines us

Six

I picked Ojomo and Thompkins as my LOFs last year .... I love both of those cats

I'm thinking that some jackass walk-on won't cheap shot sucker punch Ojomo this year

I'm also thinking that how the Collier situation happens, my boy Thompkins will get out there and leave some opponent's torn ACLs on the field

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Six, maybe Irvin just thought the next guy should have some HC experience first. Clearly, he's never doubted Shannon brain-power.

But since then he's seen that Shannon has made very few mistakes and corrected and upgraded them quickly.

I don't know for sure but I do remember the rumors about Irvin saying it was a mistake.

As far as Collier opening the door for KT, yeah, I don't expect any drop-off there at all, in fact KT has more moves.

I'd still hate to see Collie leave though. Sounds like he needs a RS unless it's a personal situation.

"but now, he's gone completely the other way and is playing the "good ol' buddy, good ol' teammate" card with Boss Man Shannon"

Irvin was a great football player.
He deserves all the recognition he has received for his on field career.

Off the field he has never impressed me the least.
All the showboating, lying to his children and wife, drugs, and playing people that tried to help him have really tarnished my opinion of him.

DZ8

And stabbing a teammate with some scissors in the Cowboys locker room 'cause you couldn't wait your turn to get a haircut. Ya Irvin is a swell guy.

DZ8

Futch? Noooooooooooooooo.
Collier? Damn.
Wesley? Thanks for your effort, say hi to Glen and Romeo for us.

Memphis is probably texting Futch and Thearon right now.

DZ8

lol^^^ Yep.

BRINGN YOU THE NEWS.......T-Pimp was in a huge hood fight back home and led to breaking his Hand, was already on the $%#ish list of Shannon due to not going to classes and work ethic from weight room and practice.-But may be able to come back if he wants to get his act together.-Per Shannon. Kinda makes you wonder if the recent death of his newborn is taking into effect??????

J-Futch- Is f-ing off in school he comes to practice and works hard but his grades are issues. Makes me alil upset because the light switch had turn on for him on the field and could of been able to start If he just took care of his biz N class.

Steven Wesley- Academic Issues plus he is a senior! Un-excuse for that. 1 word Lead by example.... Shannon basically told em to hit the Highway!!! Also theres speculation that an incident occur?? Don't know what tho????

Not even done.....
RT Jermaine Johnson who was a starter will be suspended for the first game maybe more because of falling to sleep in class not 1nce but 3x per professor who reported to the coaching staff, Also is slipping with academic issues. Thats why they move FIGGS in there to get him comfortable. Also Ben Jones is not mature enough and is basically out there like whatever-???- in practice. They want more from him?

Wr walkon Ben B. whom transfer from Ucla may also get kick off from stealing Jacory-12 Harris Iphone!!!! Had a huge rumble in the locker room. Asst coach Aubrey Hill really like this kid and said by time he gets to be a jr or sr and learn the ropes he could be possible a star in the making! Coaches are investigating the incident.

Big Boom M-FO- Been coming along but not where he was when he was a freshmen, some say he is not even gr8 enough to start over Curtis Porter or Micanor Regis -whom believe is the best DL. 99 is 3rd on depth chart 4 now. The Good thing is per coach PETRI that he has the potential and the gifts to turn it on and be dominant. Petri wants more from Fortson-per quote "I WANT DOMINANCE FROM MARCUS!!! not just another DL that can play the position.

Brought you the bad now here are the GOODS!!!

Source told me that Whipple has implemented a spread formation in one of his plays just to see how it works. Basically testing it out a bit??? I LOVE THIS IDEA I HOPE IT STICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said it before and reports form different newspapers had articles about it. LOL
He just plays and thinks better when its spread out a bit in my opinion . Besides look at the weapons we have why not??? SPREAD THE FIELD OUT WHIP!!!!!!!!!!!

Kendal has been BALLLLLLLLLLINNNNNNNNGGGGGGG in practice!!!! Source told me who been at miami for a long long time told me that he HAS Santana Moss all over em!!! Moss also work with em over the summer and its truely has paid off 4 K.T.!

Defense is been doing well in implementing a good package plan for this season!!! They're worried about the LB positions tho..... Cookie has put on 15 pounds and Spence added 5pounds. Even the DBs have been balling a lil with a lot of tips and ints on 7 on 7. B-Harris has been more of the vocal group in practice. J. Reid is also in the mix look 4 em to play some db also in dime or nicks along with Ryan Hill.

Source say Storm Johnson is all Business many feel that he just toooo good not to keep em on the field. Coaches are having a hard time on this decision.

From the people i talk to and my honest opinion that if all the players are taking care their business in the classroom and the field and realized that they have something VERY SPECIAL THEY could possible run the table. I feel this team is better now than whom many believe next years quote on quote CHAMPIONSHIP??????

3 Things im scratching my head on are the OL. -Sorry i just feel that we do not have a gr8 push of men who are mean enough. DBs -I don't think its basically the group of caliber of players in my honest opinion i think its the db coach Mcgriff! Fluid of techniques to players is not there. They're basically playing off of talent but not both. Just the basics of back paddle, swing of hips, mindset of with routes to jump or play it out???? Angles to come up and make tackles is just not there. Loss on those transitions... Hopefully we're good and able enough to lock it down. This is coming from a person whom played the position and was taught by a former cane and nfl, cfl player. ;) Whom had couple of solid d1 offers. 3rd Lbs- As we all know. Whos going to be the the run stoppers and shut it down men on 3rd downs???? Spence needs to add another 10 pounds tired of em ducking on pulling OLinemen. Colin needs better coverage when its passing downs, Cookie needs to get it together were depending on em. Kylan has not played a lick of downs.- He noooo D.J. Williams in this transition!!! Don't like the fact we are relying on freshmen to come in at the position.

Well im off to the gym.... stay tune folks stay tune!!!!!!!!

Oh by the way Young LA-(Canes players call em) aka Latwan Anderson is my pic for starting by game 4!!!! TRUST If he gets it and is clicking!!!! Look for him to start over thats right i said it!-DVD,MCGEE and others besides B.Harris. That kid has it all!!!!!!! Just hope the transition from high school to getting ready to play now in college won't be hard for em?

DZ8

Thanks 321canes... Is that from you or someone else?

Canez1

Irvin was a hothead and in his youth something of a roughneck. The same passion and intensity that he brought to the field came from the same source as his uncouth behavior. That energy works both ways, like a sword.

And it's usually not until the swordsman matures that he really understands how to wield the sword and not let the sword wield him.

Irvin's sword was a great deal of self-confidence that erred on the side of a widely inflated self-importance. Not very different than Babe Ruth, really, who pissed on a teammate showering next to him. Inflated self-importance.

The flip-side of this occurred once Irvin was injured and couldn't play. His behavior doesn't surprise me at all. He had all this testosterone accumulated and built around his passion and then the passion is suddenly taken away. Bjorn Borg did the same thing.

A lot of people take maturation for granted and like to criticize decisions made in the heat and folly of youth and it's an easy thing to do.

But if you see the way a man has matured, the folly of youth is just that, unless he continues to behave like a fool.

To me, Irvin is one thing...Mike Vick, Tiki Barber, Ben Rothlesberger are another thing entirely.

86Cane

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Based on the list of players you posted we have 31 or 32 FRESHMAN on the team.

HUH?

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

321 with the scoop!! Thanks for clearing the air dawg. Good stuff. I agree with your sources views of the OL, DBs and even LA. I saw some footage of him playing CB and he's a natural. DVD better ball out!! haha

But that's what the U is all about.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

321, disappointing to read about McGriff. Sounds like another one of the original staff that was a mistake on Shannon's part.

PhillyCane

Hershey.. ye i plan on staying the night itd be too much driving for one day as piutt is like 3 or 4 hours from me.

C1 was talking aobut staying in a sheraton in station square where we would be pregaming, so after the game take a ferry back sleep then leavin fri morn. Im waiting on my man C1 for the details

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Also sounds like Linder and SH might be able to move in and take over at tackle quicker than anyone expected.
