The Trojans appear to be leaking.
Now dealing with NCAA sanctions and the confirmed defection of the #1 rated recruit of the entire 2010 class, the University of Southern California, USC head coach Lane Kiffin and recruiting guru Ed Orgeron are scrambling to try to save face.
It became official today shortly after 4 PM that offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson has gone rogue and has been granted his release from the Letter of Intent he signed to attend USC.
Henderson is said to have requested his release on claims of "evidence" that Kiffin misled him during the recruiting process by stating that USC would NOT face serious sanctions from the NCAA.
Not so fast my friend! The NCAA slapped USC right across the face with some heavy handed sanctions that include no bowl appearances for two years and the loss of 30 scholarships during that period.
It would be a stretch to say that Kiffin lied to Henderson so we will avoid making that claim. Except for the fact that he did not tell Henderson the truth. I guess that is lying, isn't it?
Many Hurricane fans became orgasmic with delight (some may even have multiples) as soon as they learned that the news was announced and after it was rumored that Henderson may soon announce that he is hoping to immediately transfer to the University of Miami.
We suggest that rather than get your knickers all in a wad, just sit back and enjoy the ride. The fun is just getting started!
You see, as a result of the previously mentioned "firm but fair" sanctions recently placed on USC by the NCAA for multiple and egregious rule violations committed by the Trojans, this is likely to be just the first of many national and local recruits the Trojans are bound lose or let slip away.
All of that California talent that until recently flocked to USC will start to have second thoughts about trusting Kiffin the Younger (who I am told is still busy learning ALL of the words to Rocky Top) and his partner in crime, I mean recruiting, Ed "Sticky Fingers" Orgeron.
The NCAA penalized USC for allegedly paying Reggie Bush (seen below) and for other rule violations involving basketball star O.J. "Gimme Some Extra" Mayo while they played for the Trojans.
These recruits that were once certain to attend USC may be tempted to look at other options on the West coast like UCLA, Standford, Oregon and Washington as well as some distant opportunities that may exist at The U instead of signing with the Trojans.
Granted, the USC cheerleaders are still a great temptation. I mean who wouldn't want to be the lucky duck that winds up with one of them? But a leaky Trojan is never a good thing.
USC Women at a game .... Even if they are on probation, they still have these to look at to ease their pain

This kid said he's waiting on an offer from the Canes
#1 ranked DB in the country according to Rivals
He said he's been a Cane fan since he was little and rooted for the Canes to beat Ohio State in 2002 ..... and he's from Akron, Ohio

I'm not sure the Hurricanes are that interested in Doran Grant. . .
He def. looks like a nice player and he could be in play but I think they feel pretty confident with who they have had on their board..
Can't hurt to make some additional contact with this kid though.

after reading that. its ok. I will let Miami do the talking. I am sure every player, coach and fan know that this is THE statement game. Every year Miami has gotten better and is looking more like the Miami of old.
If we keep Pryor in check its game over. And with Petri and the re-vamped non injured D-Line its game over. He will be running all right..for his life!

CSM - I didn't see Wayne Lyons, the safety out of Dillard, on your list. You don't think we'll land him?
Thanks!
BTW Legion, I'm FINALLY reading Cane Mutiny. Almost done with it in two days! Can't put it down!

We're also gonna need the OL to hang in there and let Jacory and Co. do their magic. If this happens, even if Pryor has a decent game, Miami will still pull the win.

I think we will have our DB situation pretty much sewn up before W.Lyons gets over himself and decides to pick a team...
I have no inside info on this but I wasn't very impressed with his discussions about UM... or he could be playing the game well and just not showing UM SOO much love so schools don't think he is a lock... BUT I think we'll have 4 DB's committed before he makes his HAT PICK ON NSD.....
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | July 06, 2010 at 11:31 PM
Lyons is going to the SEC
Posted by: Lurker | July 06, 2010 at 11:34 PM
As much of a nice player he is, I don't think UM IS SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING HIM... 1. Either they like other prospects or 2.. They know he was already a lean elsewhere (apparently the SEC)

Solar, I gotcha and I agree, although I don't think it's surprising that a boxer participates in other ring-fighting sports, even with animals.

Henderson to the U..............
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was told today that this is done. The only question is his final grade in one class, and he might need summer school, but should be in Miami in August................
Congrats from me. I believe you guys just landed the top OLine prospect in the country from 2010. Pair him with Linder and those are 2 sweet linemen. I've seen both in person, and they are sure things in my opinion.

Well, now that SH is officially released, would Bosh and Wade and possibly even Lebron signing with the heat have any effect on Seantrel's decision, i mean come on, that's one happening party in south beach, can his dad possibly resist that????lol, I mean even friggin' Snoop Dogg couldn't help but ride the U's bandwagon, even USC's ex-alum like Keyshawn ultimately predicted Seantrel will end up in Miami. Our city's def hot lately.

T.Bridgewater - QB (Committed)
S. Watkins - WR (I'd say 75% chance)
P. Dorsett - WR (Committed)
Eli Rodgers - WR (Committed - has been advised he has a verbal depending on what WR's UM pulls in this class. BUT I think it is becoming more and more apparent that the coaches are likely his route running ability, and ability to make plays and get OPEN on big downs in the zones...)
Wynn/Benjamin/D.Davis/D. Arnett/ (They will leave open one slot for a STUD WR if they really want to.. It will be either Rodgers slot or they will take 4 WR's and no RB)
S.Huggins RB (30%-35)
Nick O'Leary TE (50% chance)
Possible other TE
Mark Jackson OL (Committed)
S. Tuitt DT (35% chance)
A. Dubose DE (50% chance or better)
A. Chickillo DE (75% chance)
N. Menocal LB/DE (Committed)
D. Perryman LB (95% chance- I think silent)
T. Steward LB (30% chance or lower)
Jabari Gorman DB (75% chance)
Albert Jean-Lous DB (Committed)
Dallas Crawford DB (95% chance)

FROM THE BLEACHER REPORT:
USC reserve defensive end Malik Jackson has confirmed that he intends to transfer to Tennessee, becoming the second Trojan upperclassman to leave the program in the wake of NCAA sanctions imposed on the football team last month.
Due to the severity of the sanctions, which ban USC from competing in postseason play for the next two seasons, NCAA-instituted bylaws allow juniors and seniors to transfer to another Division I-A school outside of the Pac-10 without having to sit out a season.
Jordan Campbell, a junior linebacker, was the first player to transfer when he opted to leave USC for Louisville last month.
Jackson was a regular contributor for the Trojans, appearing in all 13 games in 2009 and recording 3.5 sacks.
According to Jackson, the sanctions did not play a role in his decision to leave. Rather, it was that Tennessee had contacted him last month, saying that they could really use his help.
That was enough for Jackson to jump ship, saying, "I just felt like I needed to be someplace else."
So is this the end of transfers for the Trojans, or are we seeing just the tip of the iceberg?

It's very gloomy on the Cavs neck'o da woods, i mean Lebron is selling Cleveland as hard as D-Wade is selling the Heat and his hometown Chicago to players like Amare and Chris Bosh, both these players seems to be just laughing it off as Cleveland is in no way a possible destination. That ultimately will be a very strong factor for Lebron leaving his hometown team for others eventhough his heart is truly in Cleveland. The fact of the matter is, if Lebron really wants to win a championship, he will be choosing between Chicago, New York, and Miami.
Posted by: Sean Spence is a Beast!!! | July 07, 2010 at 11:13 AM
Tennessee actually sent a letter to USC listing all their juniors and seniors so they could gain permission to talk to any of them. No harm, no foul.
And no, I don't think it's over. It's like free agency BUT there isn't a deadline. Kids can leave USC at any time without restrictions.
