solar - I remember reading a quote from the guy who founded UArmour ... it was something to the effect of how when he first started, he just needed to find football players that wanted to wear women's nylons and convince them it's cool to wear & will help them

That guy has UArmour now all over the damn place

Of course all the collegiate & professional sports, hunting & fishing, military as well

First time I really took notice of it was in that movie "Any Given Sunday"

I think they've got these teams pretty much locked up for all their clothes/equipment, that I can remember seeing from a bunch of games over the years - Maryland obviously, USF, Auburn, Texas Tech, Illinois, Hawai'i, South Carolina, Temple, Southern Illinois, Delaware, Utah

I know I've seen some NFL Canes in their commercials - Vilma, Santana Moss, Anytime Hester and Ray Ray

They also have The Rock on lock down as well, that cat sports UArmour all the time, esp. in his photo shoots with Muscle & Fitness

Hey look, it's those crappy ass facilities that some people would always complain about

Good enough for all the previous Canes that went through there and are killing it in the NFL & MLB .... good enough for all those Canes that are in the NFL & MLB to come back and train in .... good enough for The Rock to come train in .... then it damn sure is good enough for all current Canes and possible future Canes to train in

Buncha freakin primadonna pansy asses that complain b/c the weight room doesn't have 20 flat screens & disco balls with night club music going on, like in some meat market pretty boy glam girl fitness club

I'd love to move in and live in that damn Canes weight room if I could

GURU

I Love to see those ga boyz representing on the 305..storm Johnson didn't start a Buford as a Jr..

86 - Siesta Key is nice ... go to the village while you're down there and get your eats on

AlpharettaCane

Soup - wife and I have been going to Siesta Key for close to 25 years....was walking the beach one day and bumped into a little place called Siesta Royale - classic old Florida...little 1 and 2 bedroom efficiencies right on beach.

We were youngest ones in the place by 50 years, at least! Nothing to do, lots of fun.

Used to eat steaks on the beach and hang with the silver hairs, all watching the sun go down in their little semi-circle.

Damn 86, a little notice next time! I'm in Naples until late afternoon. I'm a lock for FSU, but I'm not sure if I'll hit up FAMU or not.

Go 'canes!

I just found out that WR LaRon Byrd’s MRI came back negative.

But according to a source, he’s still doubtful to play in the Sept. 2 season opener against Florida A&M.

Byrd, second on the team in catches (33) last season and third in receiving yards (460), underwent the MRI on Monday after he hyper-extended his left knee in practice the day before.

Two other receivers — freshman Allen Hurns and sophomore Davon Johnson — also are banged up, and Thearon Collier was dismissed from the team earlier this month. Collier’s reportedly is headed to Southern Cal.

Still, the Hurricanes aren’t in bad shape with Leonard Hankerson, Travis Benjamin, Aldarius Johnson, Kendal Thompkins and Tommy Streeter around.

— Also, cornerback Ryan Hill’s shoulder problems apparently aren’t near as serious as the shoulder injury that forced him to miss all of last season.

Six,
I think UnderA will continue to chip away a Nike's empire and the competition is good for everybody.

I know a lot of the younger guys especially the PS3 and XBox gang love a lot of the Nike stuff.
I guess I'm old skool in that I loved those short Russell jerseys with the big bold numerals.
The orange was the perfect shade and we looked so much bigger.

I know it's progress but some of the Nike stuff is too super hero comic book inspired.

I told a friend here, one of the silliest things i've seen lately are pro bass fishermen dressed in full wrap lightning bolt pattern gear.
No matter how you filet it Bass fishing isn't Xtreme-motoX
50 year old pot bellied men in skin tight Bat gear is creepy.

Anyway

If Russell hadn't been so greedy they probably would have had 100 of 120 colleges plus all the high school teams. They had 80 colleges for awhile.

Is that an ALPHARETTA sighting?

Could it be true???

AlpharettaCane

Solar - agree; most intimidating unis ever, especially when the linebackers wore those mid-drif / cut-off versions.

Barrow looked like a monster, same with Lewis, et al.

FOR SLING BLADE "EYES ONLY":

The NCAA has granted a five-year clock extension waiver to Adrian Thomas (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) of the University of Miami men’s basketball team. Thomas is now officially eligible to compete with the Hurricanes for a sixth season in 2010-11.

“We’re very pleased to have Adrian officially back on the team this season,” said head coach Frank Haith. “He is very well respected among his teammates and has a great work ethic – both on the court and in his graduate studies. He will continue to be a key player for us this season.”

The 6-7, 229-pound forward suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries four games into the 2006-07 season and again four games into 2007-08. During that time away from competition, Thomas added strong perimeter shooting to his offensive arsenal and finished last season as the ACC’s leader in three-point field goal percentage, converting 42.1 percent from beyond the arc. In addition, he ranked fifth in the league with 2.1 three-pointers made per game, hitting a long-range basket in 47 of his last 52 games – including his last 11-straight contests for the longest active streak in the ACC heading into the 2010-11 season.

solarcane

Storm Johnson 132 yds rushing, not bad for a third team freshman.

solarcane

Junior defensive end Andrew Smith had the most impressive showing during the Hurricanes’ second scrimmage of fall camp Wednesday night at Traz Powell. Smith recorded team-highs for tackles (10) and sacks (3) while also adding a pair of QB hurries. Offensively, Storm Johnson (132 rushing yards, 2 TDs) and Jacory Harris (8-for-12, 102 yards, 2 TDs) stood out.

DZ8

I told many people that Andrew Smithw would be the man...

DZ8

He was a freshman and starting in a class FULL of super star freshman.

Roger that!

BTW....I never got to mail the WYPT 2010 shirts out Monday before I left for Bradenton Tuesday at 6 AM. Was in Fort Myers earlier today and now in Sarasota until tomorrow PM.

Mailing shirts out FRIDAY for sure! Mrs. 86 has agreed to help me get out a bunch of Canespace shirts (WAY OVERDUE) and the WYPT shirts too.

I'll post a list tomorrow night of who I am sending Canespace shirts to that I have on my list since June.

If you are owed a Canespace shirt and do not see your name on the list tomorrow night then email me at:

canespace86@aol.com

And we will sort it out. Thanks to all for your patience!

Solar / Soup: I "lurk" once and a while - much healthier approach to the blogosphere, although I do miss Angry's reports on scrimmages, etc...used to be the highlight after a long week at work.

Solar, yes...KatieCane (daughter - 13) and I will be at GT. We're going to grab tix in the corner, forget which section, down near the corner of endzone - amongst Cane lunatics. Have thought of buying season tix to Tech and selling UGA game when playing in ATL to fund rest of season. Maybe next year - their home schedule sucks this year, but I like seeing what Johnson does - think he's a good coach.

Luck seeing Canes in ATL not good - saw Winston blow out his knee; saw LSU blow out entire team; saw Reggie F------ Ball beat us one year, saw Tech pound us 2 years ago. Even saw NC State kick our ass last year, or was it year before, in Raleigh - all I know was it was cold, and Russell Wilson toyed with us!

Solar, before I head back into the shadows, just want to go on the record and welcome the vitriol by saying:
- Think Shannon is good recruiter, DC. Head coach? Not so much.
- Actually thought Marve had a decent future; hope he does well.
- Wonder how / why Pannunzio has survived.
- Love Bosher.
- Hated to lose Wesley, regarless of depth on D-line.
- Miss Quatrine Hill at FB.
- Think DVD is terrible and couldn't tackle his own shadow.
- Think we're still a couple of years away - want to see a division crown first, then conference, then we'll see about the big bowls.
- Hate how coy Shannon is with media, particularly about injuries.
- Pray our o-line stays healthy.
- Still have nightmares about Virginia TEs running unimpeded around the Orange Bowl.
- Loved FSU, GT, OU results last year, but haven't jumped out of my chair since Canes took it to Hokies in Blacksburg in what, 2007? 2008?

DZ8

I found out what Cat5 has been doing with his time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knYCilujrFM

shwarma

While Byrd is our second most consistent receiver, I have to say this rotation does have a nice ring to it, as everyone has a specific role:

Leonard Hankerson (total pacakge #1), Travis Benjamin (big play threat), Aldarius Johnson (possession, big catch guy), Kendal Thompkins (slot and elusive) and Tommy Streeter (deep ball and red zone specialist)

orange 'n green in the vein

"- Loved FSU, GT, OU results last year, but haven't jumped out of my chair since Canes took it to Hokies in Blacksburg in what, 2007? 2008?

Posted by: AlpharettaCane | August 18, 2010 at 10:17 PM"

Uh, 2005. I mean last year wasn't it? No, not last year.

Whoever asked earlier, in '99 going into '00 the OL was assumed to be good or better due largely to the fact that Kehoe was going to make them play that well or else and then there was this large gentleman from OK JUCO that had redshirted to get in top shape and adjusted to the level of competition he was going to see named McKinney. You also knew Joaquin was going to hold down a tackle spot with solid play if all year if he stayed healthy while Bibla and Romberg were assumed to be ready for a big step up even if it wasn't so assured for them as Joaquin's contributions were thanks to past performances at their respective positions.

pb

We ned Byrd big time IMO. Out of all our receivers, with the exception of Hank, he is the biggest loss.

pb

And I appreciate that Soup. 2010 feels like it's been the busiest year of my life. But football is here and everything else will now have to get in line!

CaneRock

As far as A.Smith's numbers, now I can understand 3 sacks from a DE, but 10 tackles is a helluva day for a DE. Hmmmm, do I smell a Miami DE in a 2 point stance, is that a 3-4 aroma I'm smelling...

SOUP

Marlins at home 9/1 and the Canes playing at home on 9/2?
