There were so many official reviews during Saturday's Miami-Clemson game that it was absolutely ridiculous and completely disrupted the flow of the game.
There were so many reviews that went against Miami early in the game that many Hurricanes fans felt that typical anti-Hurricane "fix" was in.
In the end, not even the referees or the 81,000 screaming Clemson fans could stop Miami from accomplishing their mission.
The Hurricanes came, saw and conquered the Tigers 30-21 against all odds.
Jacory Harris threw four touchdowns and two interceptions in the Hurricanes win. The Miami defense was again dominant and intercepted three passes on the day and have already almost equaled their entire 2009 total for picks in 2010.
Matt Bosher connected on the game sealing field goal late in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach as Hurricane fans celebrated in the stands.
By the time it was over, the Clemson faithful were nowhere to be seen but the UM football program and their fans were still alive and well in Death Valley.
Canespace was on hand to witness the solid Miami defense and the capable Hurricane offense. The boys from the 305 looked talented, motivated and confident as they played on the road for the third straight week in a hostile environment.
We went to the game with SolarCane, OcalaCane (and wife), HersheyCane (and wife) seen below.
We tailgated with some great UM fans like Aces & Canes and G who hosted the tailgate party. And oh what a party it was!
They had the satellite TV set up, the grill cooking and the drinks flowing. We were treated like family by people who we had never met before except on the blog. These good, down to earth people were true Canes fans and hard core tailgators.
Need less to say a good time was had by all! The 'Canes won on the road against an ACC rival. The tailgate was extreme. The Hurricane family grew together once again in glorious fashion.
We met some really nice Clemson fans, talked ACC football and then took some photos.
And then, as what always happens, of course happened once again.
U know, Veni, vidi, vici...it's what we do!
question for the team: how does it feel to silence 82,000 fans in death valley?
go canes!

I can answer that: IT FEELS GOOD!
We shut them up early and often and then for good. They walked out starting at the end of the third quarter if U can believe that!

You caught me typing during blog change so will repost.
I think there were alot of key plays to the game today. I think Seantrell Henderson played better than any lineman this year. He made the key recovery on the Jacory fumble and like you sai, he was only beat once that I saw. I do not think we would have won this game without him.
I also think Mr Bosher deserves credit. How many times has that guy saved a TD on a kick return in his career. If they kept a stat on it, he would be in the kick defense hall of fame. I am also glad his low kick on the PAT did not cost us the game.
The replay referee was absolutely ridiculous. First, replays can not over turn judgement calls on the field. When the kick returner muffer the punt, and Streeter caught it, and no interference was called on the field, the only thing subject to review is whether the returner was down before the muff. You can't decide, in your judgement, there was interference because that is a judgement call. The catch by Hankerson was called a completion on the field. I didn't see anything conclusive to say, with certainty, it wasn't a catch. I also thought Benjamin established possession of the ball before the defender knocked it out of his hands after he was out of bounds. It seemed like every chance that replay official could favor Clemson, he tried to do it.
Congrats to the team for rushing for 171 yards. It was exactly the right thing to do with a 13 point lead at the half. Berry, Miller and James all had big games. Well done. Jacory was very careful with his throws in the second half as well. And running the ball on the scramble was a huge play.
Game ball to the entire defense though. Obviously, Brandon's play on 4th down was the biggest play of the game. But credit alot of others as well. Bailey for the tip and Forston for the interception. Spence is the best Miami linebacker in maybe ten years. Ray Ray's int before half was huge. But the defense absolutely made Parker look like a high school quarterback most of the game. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they plays the pass.
Hankerson is so far better than the other receivers it is not even close. Miami should hire Duper to coach the other recievers. What is up with the drops though? Aldarious and Ford both failed to hang on to passes that were right there, and would have been huge plays.
I thought this game would be a nail biter and it really wasn't except the 4th down play. Miami just had better players across the board. Me thinks Dabo Swinney is also overrated, and benefited greatly from the talent Bowden left him. A smart coach always keeps his team within a field goal in the fourth quarter and does not go for it on fourth and better than a yard.
I really like our chances next week. FSU is a good team but they have some defensive issues. Hopefully this team keeps the pedal to the medal and wins that game. After that, I think the schedule is not too tough until VT at the end. And VT is not who we thought they were before the year began.
Great game Canes! And yes, Soup, you, solar et al absolutely got this!

Is OSU have more experience across the board than Bama?
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 02, 2010 at 11:01 PM
I feel the same way. Bama just looks like an elite team. At least defensively and from a runningback standpoint.
Posted by: diesel9 | October 02, 2010 at 11:13 PM
There are 4 teams that are ranked higher than the Canes that lost. Teams ranked # 7, 9 and 11 lost or is in the process of loosing (Stanford and Florida).
Teams ranked 6, 13, 14 and 15 didnt play this week and just how the Canes dropped a few spots when they had their bye, i expect a few of those teams to drop as well.
Dont be surprised if the Canes are ranked between 10th & 13th!
Posted by: BahamaC | October 02, 2010 at 11:13 PM
Who was the FSU fan in the pic? Couldn't you photoshop and put a Canes shirt on her? lol

Posted by: Montreal-Cane | October 02, 2010 at 11:21 PM
Once again the `Canes ride their outstanding D to another impressive victory
The D is nasty, fast and fierce
Its not going to be the O that gets the `Canes to the ACC Championship game
It will be that gruesome D
Big Daddy Fortson is really coming into his own this year

Posted by: diesel9 | October 02, 2010 at 11:13 PM
------------------------------
Bama weakness on offense is their QB and their WR's to me, are average. Mallet is one of those QB's whose job it is to "manage" the game.
The only way to beat Bama is to somehow take an early lead and force their QB to beat you.
You have to throw on them and run enough to keep their defense honest!
Bama's defense is good, but like we saw tonight against Florida, you can move the ball on them. I think OSU has the offense, but i dont know if their defense is stout enough to slow down those Bama RB's.
I dont think Ohio State or Boise St can run with them, especially upfront. Bama's d-line and o-line are straight up maulers.

4 or 5 days is that enough to have a real football field at Sunlife Stadium for the FSU game?
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | October 02, 2010 at 11:26 PM
USC LOSES! Yeah!
Posted by: SJMPARMAN | October 02, 2010 at 11:26 PM
its scary how good we could be. it was very possible that we could have won that game by 2 more touchdowns (at least). the day soon come when we will have all three phases clicking when it happens-- LOOK OUT!
i have to admit, i'm a little concerned about not just the "o" players but also the "o" coaches. it appears that we didn't make good adjustments at half time. you just knew clemson would. seems as if lovett/petri/shannon made all the right adjustments to keep pace with the clemson o-- but our own o (and the coaches) seemed to have failed to do the same.
what's up with the tight end? heard all these good things about chase being compared to shockey--- not so much i would say.
lastly-- we need to fire our receivers coach-- we really do. hire duper now! byrd, benjamin, johnson, streeter, thompkins, johnson-- get a clue from hank's offseason workout. it pays off.
get rid of fluzzi while you're at it too. dead weight for sure. good job seantrell and linder. boy we gonna be good!

If FU doesnt drop out of the Top 15 then the voters really have some bias towards them
31-6. I dont care who you play and where you play them
You dont lose 31-6 and deserve to stay in the top 15

2. OSU
3. Ducks

There is no team with a better defense then the one we have
On a nuetral field we could go toe to toe with anyone in the country
Posted by: Sebastian | October 02, 2010 at 11:56 PM
SJMPARMAN, the fumble Seantrel recoverd was because of him not blocking his guy....thank God he was hustling on the play, otherwise he played a good game.
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | October 03, 2010 at 12:02 AM
Yes, he got beat, but he also stayed focused and got the ball. I am also not sure what Jacory was trying to do there. How do you fuble backwards. It still showed good awareness.
Posted by: SJMPARMAN | October 03, 2010 at 12:07 AM
Anyone think we'll jump ahead of LSU...they were handed the game against Tennessee...no way LSU is a Top 10 team.
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | October 03, 2010 at 12:08 AM
No way we will jump them
LSU is SEC...Voters love the SEC and will at the very least keep them in the top 10 if not move up a spot or 2
They would be better of just running the ball everytime and let their D and ST do the scoring, thats the only chance they have at winning games

AROUND CAMPUS
• UM's September/early October 2009 and 2010 schedules have been among the nation's toughest, but athletic director Kirby Hocutt said Miami is fine with that approach. September games are on tap with UF (2013) and Nebraska (2014 and 2015). But Hocutt also booked home-and-home series later this decade with Buffalo and Toledo to lighten the load. The 2011 early slate includes two ACC games (UM declined Labor Day overtures), then home against Ohio State (Sept. 17), Kansas State (Sept. 24) and Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 1). In 2012, ACC games sandwich games at Kansas State on Sept. 8 and Notre Dame on Oct. 6 in Chicago.

Watching replay, no excuse for that blocked PAT. Bosher kicked it low. You just can't do that. Surprising really. He is such a great player.
Posted by: SJMPARMAN | October 03, 2010 at 12:39 AM
Cav, was Linder in at guard most of the game? Whenever there was a bust from the offensive line it was over 61 or 66. Even the extra point that was blocked it was over 66. Those two are bad. I prefer freshmen in there than them. 77 had a bust, but first time playing tackle as loud as that stadium is, no false starts, no holding penalties, one sack, he had potential to be a very good lineman. And, I'm purposefully trying to temper my excitement about him. Too many times, freshmen played great never to be heard from again...... until the end of their senior season
Posted by: canesluvr | October 02, 2010 at 08:03 PM
>>>>>
I didn't notice 66 was on the blocked FG but it wouldn't surprise me.
I don't know what it is with these two upperclassmen. Franklin has played well all-season, so I'll give him a few mistakes but Figs and Gunn haven't done much, or less than much.
Linder was in a lot but I couldn't tell from one play to the next.
SH is LEGIT. Go ahead and get excited. He's 20-30 pounds overweight. Once he gets rid of the baby fat and gets stronger he's going to be a great one.
