In the last thirty years no single rivalry in college football has brought about more excitement, garnered more attention or decided as many National Championships as Miami vs Florida State.
The storied history between the Hurricanes and the Seminoles is chocked full of tremendously competitive games, memories of famous dramatic endings and an incredibly long list of star-studded players from both teams who would go on the excel in the NFL(U).
Wide right? Wide Left? No matter how you kick it this series has been center stage under the serious spotlights since 1980. It is now wonder why four of the top 7 rated games ever shown on ESPN are between Miami and FSU.
Former FSU head coach Bobby Bowden had his coaching career defined and ruined by losing to Miami a few too many times. He could have shed a thousand tears over the sudden, tragic losses and dreams of National Championships squandered against the Hurricanes.
While Bowden left his disbelief and his crimson and gold bleeding heart on the Orange Bowl turf more than several times over the years, there was one occasion at Doak Campbell Stadium when UM safety Sean Taylor decide to all by himself demolish the Seminoles on a rain soaked day in Tallahassee.
Former University of Miami coach Art Kehoe who coached at Miami for over 25 years (1981-2005), all of the great rivalry games and all five UM National Championships was once quoted as saying something like: "Miami versus Florida State in October is what college football is all about."
I would like to go on record as saying: "Kehoe was absolutely correct. "
Here are some UM-FSU series stats as the two teams get ready to square off today at Sun Life Stadium:
Score Predcition: Miami 31 - FSU 27
He sets up the run with pass

Yes, but the key is Garcia is completing his passes.
Also, notice how South Carolina's O-coordinator isn't going for the homerun throw, yet, and is going with the short, safe routes.
Miami gets into trouble when Whipple forces the homerun throw, and Jacory fails to read the coverage.

Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 04:43 PM
Like I yapped about above, Roll Tide escaped Arkansas. But not this afternoon.
Roll Tide misses a gimmie' FG. An ominous sign for Bama fandom.

Mcelroy is an average qb
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 04:42 PM
---------------------
Go back and check my post early in the week. I told you guys when McElroy is average at best. His job is to do simply hand off the ball to those BEASTS!
You have to make McElroy to beat you. this is Spurier's game plan!

Carolina leads Clemson 7-3 with four minutes left in the half.
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 04:45 PM
Garcia cant go J-12 in this game!
Posted by: BahamaCane | October 09, 2010 at 04:47 PM
I'm starting to get a little nervous. You can't have Cane blood in your veins and not get nervous. I hope the crowd is strong and loud.
I wonder if the Chief and the horse are going to ride into the stadium or if the Canes are the only ones going through the smoke.
86, Mrs 86, a special hello. Wish I was there with you, but progress is slow for me right now.
So everyone scream and yell for me and kick their ass.

SC special teams isnt holding up their end of the bargain. Thats the 2nd good return by Bama!
Posted by: BahamaCane | October 09, 2010 at 04:50 PM
What about intentional grounding... bama should be moved back
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 04:58 PM
Posted by: MaryLouAlumni | October 09, 2010 at 04:49 PM
Don't get too nervous MaryLouAlumni. Because no matter what happens tonight, the Hurricane defense won't allow Miami to lose!
Miami, F-L-A Hurricanes 31
Seminoles 20
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 04:58 PM
Bama got special treatment... Mcelroy basically throw the ball in the ground
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 05:01 PM
Roll Tide back in the game.
Theys have too much bloody MOXY to check it in.
Second-half will be bery, bery interesting. To say the least.
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 05:01 PM
Clemson looks like crap. hangover from the Canes game still?
Posted by: BahamaCane | October 09, 2010 at 05:03 PM
the old ball coach needs to play wide open ... cant get conservative
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 05:03 PM
Carolina 14, Clemson 3... at the half.
Miami took too much out of Dabo's Tiger squad. No. LOL
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 05:03 PM
Our d beat the crap out of 23... they are feeling it now... we got some serious size coming up to bring the wood... like having 5 linebackers.

Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 05:03 PM
Saban and his D-coordinator won't allow Garcia to go long. Their giving him the short-to-medium routes. But no mas. LOL
That's why Spurrier can't open it up. Yet, Whipple has no problem with playing Riverboat gambler. LMAO
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 05:06 PM
VT and UNC are starting to play well!
Posted by: BahamaCane | October 09, 2010 at 05:12 PM
OSU plays a basketball school ... where is the fairness? What a weak schedule... they should drop this week... LMAO
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 05:15 PM
WOW, 14-3 SC!
Posted by: BahamaCane | October 09, 2010 at 04:14 PM
Remember, remember the Hog game. Arkansas was in control eary, yet failed to cash in when it mattered most. The bloody fourth quarter. No.
Still, I wouldn't mind seeing Roll Tide fall this afternoon. Then, the initial B.C.S. standings on Monday would really be muddled.
IF Bama loses against Spurrier's Gamecock squad, here's my take.
1. Ohio St.
2. Oregon
3. Boise St.
4. T.C.U.
5. Alabama
6. Herbie Cornhuskers
7. Oklahoma
Yous know both the USATODAY/ESPN Coaches and Harris polls are in lust with the S.E.C. lol That's why I think they won't drop them that far.
--------------
However, the combined total points of the SIX computers will, eventually, be the deciding factor. SOS anyone.
The computers SEVERLY PENALIZE teams for playing a SOFT ARSE non-conference schedule. The Herbie Cornhuskers, for bloody example. LOL
Hurricane brothers 'n' sisters, is it game time yet. LOL

Yes indeed.
However, there will be around 14,000 f.s.WHO fans in attendance. Yes?
Look for Herbsteit to give the authoratative take on tonight's A.C.C. showdown.
Hint, hint. Yous know he's going with the Miami, F-L-A Hurricanes!

Alot of time left on the tick-tock clock, and Roll Tide is back in this S.E.C. thriller.
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 05:38 PM

For Pete's sake, Spurrier is past his prime, yet he's still hanging tough.

Roll Tide ain't going away! That's why they're the defending champs. Capice. No, Well, freak' me. LMAO
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 06:05 PM
Spurriers defenses are always his Achilles heel.
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 06:07 PM
The only time Spurrier had a complete team was when He had Stoops.
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 09, 2010 at 06:09 PM
I'm just messin' with U, mi@mic@ne. That's all. No harm intended.

Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 06:14 PM
Saban gambles, and losses it all. LOL
Posted by: macjones | October 09, 2010 at 06:15 PM
Way too much time still... SC must score a td to shrink the time.
