Bring on the ACC baby: We ready, we ready!
In the movie Shawshank Redemption Morgan Freeman says the following famous line: "You better get busy living, or get busy dying."
Today it is time for your Miami Hurricanes to "get busy" in winning their first championship in the Atlantic Coast Conference as they play the Clemson Tigers on the road at noon.
Post your comments during the game as the action happens. But remember, please think twice and take four deep breaths before you spit the hook or go off the chain.
Canespace will have several representatives at the game and we will be taking photos and taking in the sights and sounds of 81,000 screaming crazies at Death Valley.
We will post our thoughts and pics from the game tonight here on Canespace.
GO CANES, BEAT CLEMSON! WE GOT THIS!!!
Game Prediction: Canes 34, Tigers 24.
WOW - GO CANES.

The path starts in Death Valley.
It is here that the 16th-ranked Miami Hurricanes will begin their seventh journey in search of a spot in the ACC Championship

Its time for the Canes to put mediocrity behind them and win this game. As Herbstreet said, a win at Clemson will set them up nicely for a nice run to a BCS bowl game THIS YEAR, and edge in recruiting, an establishment of the program as an upper tier program, more respect for the coaching staff, elevated draft stock of the current players, etc.
This is a big game and the Canes will win easier than expected because they will be prepared and they will continue to improve and mature over the course of the season.
GO CANES!

When it comes to the Miami Hurricanes and Clemson Tigers, anything goes -- as long as it's nerve-racking. Big plays, turnovers, dramatic touchdowns and overtime have combined to make this modern-era series as outrageous as the decibel level at Memorial Stadium, better known as Death Valley.

Miami and Clemson are arguably the ACC's top two contenders for the ACC Championship game and the BCS this year. Sure there are a few others, but these two teams are widely thought of as the most talented and capable teams in the league.
Both teams possess speed, strength and pure athletic ability that few can match. Clemson showed it two weeks back in a tough, physical loss at Auburn. The Hurricanes' talent was on full display last week in a blowout win at Pitt. Obviously something has to give Saturday.

"Everybody we talked to that played here at Miami [and] played Clemson at Clemson, they told us that's going to be the craziest game we've ever played in," cornerback Brandon Harris said. "Maybe not the most people, but it's definitely going to be the loudest."

Jorge- Defense
Clemson ranks first in the ACC in scoring offense with 39 points per game while the Hurricanes are first in the conference in total defense (252 ypg). One of the two units will be exposed as a fraud.

Nice comeback by Camden, who looked like Clemson had swallowed UNC's colors. It made the second half interesting....

Love the quote... love the prediction! I have the game going 31-17 MIAMI. Let's do this! Definitely one of the most important games for our program... more important the the Ohio State game. We need to win this and show everyone that WE run the ACC now. This game means a lot to us... LET'S DO THIS!!!

canechic,
I am a huge Rays fan so I will throw in my opinion on them in if you dont mind
The only one thats hitting in the Rays lineup is Carl Crawford and Jason Bartlett but thats about it. Carlos Pena just flat out sucks .195(year) .111(sept/oct)
James Shields who started last night sucks as well
3-5 vs the Mariners, Orioles and Royals down the stretch has now taken the control of winning the division from them
Six will have a better and well thought out opinion then the one I just gave
GO `CANES!
Posted by: Sebastian | October 02, 2010 at 10:08 AM
Sebastian I am a Marlins fan so I really never watch the Rays play but my goodness, this is no way to get into the playoffs. It is one thing if they had already wrapped up the division and are just taking it easy but losing to Balt. then KC....does not bode well for them into the playoffs. I am going to get behind the Giants in the post season but I think Philly wins the series.
Posted by: canechic | October 02, 2010 at 10:13 AM
canechic,
I will be cheering for the San Francisco Codys as well.
Can't cheer for the Braves or Phillies (although having the Braves do well would be a nice final farewell for Bobby Cox), and could care lessa bout the Reds.
On the AL side, I know the Yankees are not popular here, but anytime I get to see Girardi smiling at the camera while Loria is trying to find an even CHEAPER manager makes me smile.

"But remember, please think twice and take four deep breaths before you spit the hook or go off the chain."
So, you don't want something like this?
Canes four yard gain: "We are UNSTOPPABLE! I bet if we played OSU today, we would beat them by 50!"
Tigers four yard gain: "We are TERRIBLE! I bet if we played Pitt today, we would lose to them by 50!"
I guess that (combined with slow reading skills) is why I don't post during the game.....
GO CANES!

I remember the Fla St game last year and when you posted you had to scroll about 30 comments back up the screen to see your post. Insane traffic that night.
Posted by: DZ8 | October 02, 2010 at 10:27 AM
1-5 in the last 6 games outscored 22-9 out hit 50-29
A little over a run a game and less 5 hits a game.......OUCH!
Rays have avg. over 8 Ks a game over that stretch
Its pathetic that I know those stats but that goes to show how frustrated ive been these last few games
By the way, I do agree about the Phillies
LETS GO `CANES!!!!!

Ok this isnt game time.. its Cane time. We play consistent football and we win. On o we need to either set up the run by the pass or set up the pass by the run... whatever is going ... feed the life of the o... if its our backs.. run them ... if is Jh ...confuse the d... no huddle... pro set... roll out...just use all of our talent in the fastest way we can.
On d we need to get to the qb... there is no one on their o line that is going to be in the early rounds like our d line will be! Its time to make a statement... the U is back... we must bring them to our knees! We must silence the crowd. We must become the hated U that Espisen loves to create... but we must do something meaningful to get them to come out of their holes! Its time to take the Tiger out of the Clemson tigers and silence their crowd. Remember our history... we are winners!!!!!!UUUUUUUUUUU
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 02, 2010 at 10:38 AM
When are they going to turn the feed on? We are the only game that is not being broadcast now... i need the feed .

My MAIN MAN Herbie comes to moi's rescue, once again.
Because, he simply said what I've been yapping boUt' ever since 9/11.
And what's that.
Well, IF yoUr Hurricanes take care of matters today, then they will run the rest of the A.C.C. gauntlet, along with taking down SoFla, and finish 11-1.
In other words, other than the relatively mild distractions with ' what's bothering Jacory. ' Herbie absolutely KNOWS that Clemson will be Team Shannon's most difficult game on their remaining schedule.
Why do U'all Cane rowdies think he said IF Miami wins today, then they'll go undefeated the rest of the season, and play in a B.C.S. bowl!!
Heck, that's what I been yapping since the Buckeye fiasco.
Miami, F-L-A Hurricanes 27

What's the over/under on the following comments being posted during this game ..
- Japicky sucks, I'd rather have AJ Highsmith in there or even Ray Ray running the Wildcat
- Forget Highsmith, put in Spencer Whip
- Whipple's playcalling sucks
- It's not Whipple, it's Japicky
- Ramon Buchanon is got burnt by Jamie Harper or Ellington again
- Figs sucks at RT
- Pannunzio should be fired
- Aubrey Hill should be fired
- Their TE is killing us, I thought Lovett was supposed to be good
- Why can't they stop Kyle Parker from running
- Run the ball more with Damien Berry
- Why doesn't Shannon yell at some players
Those are just a few that I can imagine will be typed on here
I'm off to CDBs Southside in Tampa .. where the flat screens are nice, but the f'in appetizers are wayyy overpriced

I LOVE playing a real schedule, but we keep getting punished for it when cowardly teams use their first three games as preseason work and three free wins. No SOS and RPI measure in the BCS, so no reason to take on that extra burden. Unger
---------------
Wait just a moment, Unger. Because the ' computer polls ' do take into consideration the SOS, as well as strength of overall conference.
But I do get your point, that Miami should ease up on the non-conference portion of their schedule. Play only ONE and or TWO difficult games, for instance.
Matter of fact, the vast majority of B.C.S programs are ' adopting ' the Herbie Cornhusker format of playing weak arse non-conference games. LMAO
In other words, that's the trend these major conference schools are evolving towards.
Posted by: macjones | October 02, 2010 at 11:35 AM
canechic - Sebastian put up some nice numbers about the Rays
Longo is out. They look like they're still hungover from Tuesday night when they clinched a playoff spot. And many more things that I don't have time to type b/c I'm out the door
Let me say this though. James Shields is a f'in sh*tstick of a pitcher
He's supposed to be the Rays #1 starter, with a 13-15 record .. the most HRs given up by any starting pitcher in MLB .. he has an ERA of OVER 5 .. he has the most wild pitches on the team .. he got bent over and railed right in his poop shoot last night by the Royals? .. he's been declining the past 2 years, but yet, a lot of idiots still called him "Big Game" James - f'ck that, I refused to call him that 2 years ago .. the rotation for the playoffs better not include him as a front line guy - it better be Garza, The Golden Child Price, and I'll take damn Wade Davis and the Big Texan Niemann AND Jeremy Hellboy over Shields
The way they're playing, they'll be bounced in the first round b/c they'll probably be going out to Texas - and if they play the Twinkies, they'll probably get bounced by them as well
The Phillies are peaking at exactly the right time - that team is dangerous
