The one question University of Miami football players should be heard asking themselves before today's game against Duke is: FSWho?
Miami must leave behind the beautiful palm trees and supportive orange and green clad fans that filled Sun Life Stadium last week and completely erase last week's debacle against the Seminoles from their collective memories.
The Hurricanes must be able to put that game in their rear view mirror if they are to be successful this week against the perennial ACC bottom dwelling Blue Devils.
There is no time for feeling sad, moping around or self pity for this Hurricane team, a team that can still reach one of their most important preseason goals: winning their first ACC championship.
So as the Hurricanes take the field for the opening kickoff (seen below last year in Miami against the Blue Devils) today in North Carolina look for a fired up and highly motivated team to win convincingly on the road in what should amount to a tune-up game for next week's home game against another team from North Carolina, the UNC Tar Heels.
Next week Miami and head coach Randy Shannon will get a visit from their ACC rival North Carolina and former UM coach Butch Davis. The mentor has beaten the student four straight times in this series and that trend MUST and WILL end this year when the Tar Heels come to Sun Life Stadium.
A win against Duke today will jump-start the positive momentum for Miami's stretch run through the ACC. With every game now a "must win" for the Hurricanes another loss is simply unimaginable, especially against Duke, a team much better known for their baketball team than their gridiron gang.
Two wins against teams from North Carolina in consecutive weeks is just what the doctor ordered. And trust me, I'm a doctor.
Prescribed Medication: Miami runs the ball, rests Jacory and stops the effective Duke passing attack.
Final Diagnosis: UM 34, Duke 17

CANES
Posted by: darCANEgel | October 16, 2010 at 12:07 PM
It must be blind luck how teams like Alabama, LSU ,FSU, OK and the Hebie Cornhuskers can fall to average then somehow regroup over a couple seasons and be contenders again.
Posted by: solarcane | October 15, 2010 at 10:18 PM
Voila, again!
Dig this Cane fandom.
For instance, that Herbie Cornhusker squad has a RED-SHIRT FRESHMEN starting, as well as breaking all kind of Cornhusker rushing records for a QB.
Yet, this kid from Cali wasn't recruited ' heavily ' by most PAC-10 schools, and the ones whom were relatively interested wanted him to play wide receiver or in the defensive back field. Go bloody figure.
Chit, that Herbie Cornhusker red-shirt freshmen QB wasn't near a ' 4-STAR ' QB. A 3-Star QB he was.
Moral of the rant. For some odd reason, yoUr Hurricane coaching staff AIN'T BLOODY DEVELOPING all that ?? talent ?? down in Coral Gables. No.
I could provide more examples of B.C.S. teams having signal callers, whom weren't 4-Star or even 5-Star, whom are playing miles and miles and miles beyond Jacory Harris.
And baby, I'm just yapping signal callers, for example. LB, RB, DB, WR anyone.

Just listened to DBJ give the CAVEAT EMPTOR. lol
He says that yoUr Cane better be prepared to battle!
And, U'all Miami rowdies know Duke been a ' bloody thorn ' in Team Shannon's side the past several years. LOL
Miami, F-L-A 31
Blue Devils 6
I was thinking this would be Miami's ' 2nd shutout ' of the season, but Duke has the field goal kicker to score at least 3 points.

Just got done reading the BLOB from last night.
CGNC - my wife and I watched that Dateline special. Very interesting.

Boston College 3, Seminoles 0
It looks like the ' hangover ' syndrome has infested the bloody Seminole Tippee. LMAO
Yeah, yeah it's only the first-quarter. However, Boston College CAME OUT READY to go to war!!!
That's something I'd like to witness from Team Shannon every game the rest of the season. That include the bowl game, too!
Posted by: macjones | October 16, 2010 at 12:15 PM
Boston College's O-line is MOLESTING F.S.U.!
Golden Eagles are in the Red Zone!
Posted by: macjones | October 16, 2010 at 12:17 PM
B.C.'s Harris ALREADY has 129 yards against Seminoles. Go bloody figure.
All I know is some Cane RB better rush for over 100 yards today!!
Posted by: macjones | October 16, 2010 at 12:18 PM
Boston College 6, Seminoles 0
Yes, I know it's still early.
By the way, B.C. has a couple of 0-linemen I'd like Miami to trade for. Oh, that's right, this ain't the ' league. ' LMAO
Seriously thought, Boston College seems to develop decent major college football offensive linemen. No.

Posted by: 86Cane | October 16, 2010 at 12:34 PM
That Seminole RT, who was holding Baily last week, was holding B.C.'s DE. Even James said he got away with holding.
And that A.tlantic C.oast C.ORRUPT zebra was standing only feet away. Go bloody figures!

Whenever ESPN3 broadcasts our games, it disallows channelsurfing.net from covering the game for free.
If you don't have AT&T internet, then you can't get ESPN3 football broadcasts. You have to use ESPN's internet partner, which is AT&T.
We need someone to take care of us by posting a feed of the game on JustinTV. someone did it for the FAMU game and hopefully someone will do it again.

NorCal, what did you observe about Teddy?
On another note:
Don Bailey absolutely dismantled Sid's (sensationalistic) argument about the need to fire Coach Shannon...wow!
DBJ's didn't use emotion...just straight facts and history and Sid knew he lost. That was amazing radio!
Posted by: Zakkee | October 16, 2010 at 01:09 PM
I didn't know Panunzzio wore #2, and was returning kicks today. It's all on the players.
