To be, or not to be? Will it be wide right or wide left? That is the question.
One thing is for certain this week in college football: When Miami and Florida State meet at Sun life stadium this Saturday night on national television (8 PM / ABC) both teams with have their throttles stuck WIDE OPEN in their effort to beat their arch rival and ACC foe.
Both Miami (3-1 / 1-0 ACC) and FSU (4-1 / 2-0 ACC) come into the game unbeaten in ACC competition and fairly evenly matched talent in a game that either team could win.
Whichever team does win will once again have an inside track to competing in the ACC title game on December 4, 2010 in Charlotte, NC.
As usual, Canespace will be on hand to witness history being made as the Canes and Noles battle for State bragging rights and recruiting dominance. Here is a brief update on happenings this week:
Hotel Accomodations: As you know by now the Canespace official hotel is the award winning Hampton Inn in Plantation. Here is more information on the ONLY place to stay for Hurricane games:
If you are traveling to South Florida for a University of Miami football game this year then we highly recommend that you stay at the designated Canespace hotel for these events: The Hampton Inn - Plantation.
This award-winning, luxury hotel is situated in an ideal location just West of University Drive and just a few blocks north of I-595. The Hampton Inn is located near numerous restaurants and several sports bars, is in walking distance to the Broward Mall and only 20 minutes from Sun Life Stadium.
Hurricane fans from near and far literally take over the hotel lobby and patio before and after UM home games. There are always opportunities for car pooling to the game, purchasing tickets and snatching up one of the prized Canespace T-shirts.
Canespace usually throws a "Party On The Patio" after every home game with free food, beverages and prizes for UM trivia contests. With a lush, tropical setting and a large pool and jacuzzi, the Hampton Inn patio is THE place to celebrate each Hurricane victory in 2010!
The special Canespace Rate is $89 and includes a FULL hot breakfast.
For reservations please contact the hotel front desk or speak to:
Susan Stern, Director of Sales, Hampton Inn Plantation: 954-382-4500
Or reserve your room on line with Canespace Corporate Code 0002702804 at:
www.ftlauderdaleplantation.hamptoninn.com
Tailgating Information: The Canespace tailgate can be found in the East 12 area of the Sun Life Stadium parking lot. Enter the stadium off of Florida's Turnpike, turn right and park as close to the stadium as possible. We suggest you get there early (4 PM) as the game is basically sold out and the crowd will be eager to arrive and get their mojo working and their buzz on.
Look for the Canespace banner on the windshield of my white Isuzu Rodeo when U arrive. Some food and beverages will be available for all that show-up but we ask that you bring some additional snackage and your favorite beverages and do what you can to support the party.
Grab Your Hurricane Gear Here: If you are looking for some new 'Canes gear to wear to the game or a special tailgating item then you need to visit the new Canesport merchandise site.
Gary Ferman of Canesport.com who has visited Canespace on occasion emailed me some info about the new site. The Canes Shop web site can be found at: www.canesshop.com.
They have some great stuff, good prices and even a really cool Hurricane memorabilia section too:
If you are lucky you may be eligible for some additonal "insider" discounts if you shop now (see below). We suggest that you shop early and often at this great Canes gear site offered by Canesport.com!
I'm sick of biting my nails in FSU games. Let's put them away early for a change. 2001 was the last time we did that and we have the same talent differential this year.

SHOCKING STAT OF THE DAY:
In the five season span between 2000-2004 Miami had 50, count 'em FIFTY, non-offensive TDs (special teams and defensive scores).
Guess how many they had in the five year span between 2005-2009?
Go ahead guess...don't be LAZY, guess?

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP:
India today blasted New Zealand after a television anchor made fun of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's name, pronouncing it phonetically over and over, even after being told by another announcer that her name was pronounced "Dixit."
Dikshit is in the news because New Delhi is hosting the Commonwealth Games, which kicked off last Sunday with a grand opening ceremony following weeks of bad press about the mismanagement of the event.
"It looks like Dick-sh--," Paul Henry said during a breakfast show on the television station TVNZ and then proceeded to repeat his joke and laugh loudly for over a minute. "And it's so appropriate because she's Indian. ... So she would be in Dick-in-sh-- ... walking along the street."

Looking back at that game I gotta give my man Ocala some props.
Consider we had the same view of the field you have of the city Miami flying in at around 10,000 feet or so.
At the beginning of the game there was a whistle.
Before any ref or fan said a word ocala shouted:
"DUDE! their nose tackle was off sides "
And that WAS the call.
Seeing their nose tackle at all was remarkable.
Seeing he was offside while viewing the play at a 45 degree angle from the upper deck bordered on Supermanish skills.
Posted by: solarcane | October 07, 2010 at 02:41 PM
That explains why they were going against the Canes. Refs hate it when you call them "DUDE".
Posted by: Ungar | October 07, 2010 at 04:44 PM
The Miller injury affects more than just the RB situation, it affects the KO return game as well.
If Storm or Cooper are a "GO" for the game then they could fill in.

1 darn hit thru 6 innings, 6 more strikeouts
Shields gives up another blast, Qualls comes in to give up another bomb....open your eyes and its 6-0
Joe starts a guy in Baldelli that had 24 at bats the entire season yesterday and now turns around and starts a rookie(Jennings) with 17 at bats today. What the heck is going on around the 727/813?
Shields in game 2, Hot Plate catching both games, Penas 3 strikeouts
Thats it....We are leaving tonight instead of tommorrow to get ready for the Saturday night beatdown of the `Noles

411, that is GLARING. I guess that first INT was under fifteen yards though, because that one was to Hankerson.
Now, what are the numbers for Benjamin?

That's a bery, bery, bery, bery good sign for your Miami, F-L-A Hurricanes. That's IF U'all Cane rowdies belief in such superstitious notions. LMAO
Seriously though. The line opened up Miami - 6, and has raised ONE POINT since then. ( Heavy, heavy action on Team Shannon. No. )
So, what does that indicate. It says the Wise Guy HEAVY MONEY is going with your Hurricanes, to COVER and win the game outright! That's what it means.
By Sabado, Team Shannon should be a - 7 1/2 point home chalk.
DZ, yous and yous friends should have layed yours cash on the Hurricanes! LOL

My take on Reid’s comments: Certainly, there are some who are likely to criticize Reid for being outspoken. And there are some who’d prefer Reid to let his play do his talking. I don’t think Reid meant what he said in a taunting, disrespectful manner. He’s simply confident. And isn’t this the kind of thing that makes the Florida State-Miami rivalry fun? Here’s hoping the PC police don’t come down too hard on him. Nothing wrong with showing a little bit of personality.
Posted by: solarcane | October 06, 2010 at 09:48 PM
Let em' keep on yapping.
Yous know how the trite adage goes... bloody action speaks lounder than yap. LOL Or, something like that.
Heck, yous figure Reid would've learned to tone down the rhetoric a bit. Especially after Boomer Sooner and QB Landy BYTCH SLAPPED his Seminole secondary. LMAO
And baby, that was a MAJOR bytch slapping OU layed on F.S.Who!
Now,Team Shannon's victory come Sabado won't be of epic proportions as the Boomer Sooner win. But Miami will most certainly win, and COVER the game time point spread!

Losing to Ohio st, playing 3 road games consecutively, i'd be surprised if Miami plays bad tomorrow considering the adversity they have experienced throughout the month.
Posted by: Sean Spence is a Beast!!! | October 08, 2010 at 11:15 AM
First Denard, then Martinez . . i'm pretty sure Jimbo will try to let Ponder loose like crazy a-la those first two i just mentioned.
It seems to me the trend is letting your dual-threat qb off the leash and rely on them to win the game themselves.
