In the recently released sequel of the movie "A Few Good Men" Canespace brings you A Few Good Men Too (written by Canespace blogger Ungar).
In the sequel we find Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon and the Miami Herald's Manny Navarro squared off on Greentree Practice Field in a heated exchange eerily similar to the courtroom scene between Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise in the original classic film from 1992.
Here is how the conversation goes down in 2010...
RANDY SHANNON: You want answers?
MANNY NAVARRO: I think I'm entitled to them.
RANDY SHANNON: You want answers?
MANNY NAVARRO: I want the truth.
RANDY SHANNON: You can't HANDLE the truth!
RANDY SHANNON: Son, we live in a world that has games. And those games have to be played by men with helmets.
Who's gonna do it? You? You, Steve Gorten? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Collier and you curse the Canes. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: That Collier's transfer, while tragic, probably saved sanctions. And my coaching, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, graduates players.
You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about on blogs, you want me on that sideline. You need me there on that sideline. We use words like swagger, process, consistency... we use these words as the backbone to a life spent playing something. You use them as a punchline.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and blogs about the very games I coach, then questions the manner in which I coach it. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a clipboard and coach a position. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to.
MANNY NAVARRO: Did you order the code orange?
RANDY SHANNON: I did the job Donna sent me to do.
MANNY NAVARRO: Did you order the code orange?
RANDY SHANNON: You're goddamn right I did.

From what i read on some of these blogs, it seemed pretty set in stone that Teddy B was not coming to Miami, but on second thought, TB is quoted as saying, ``right now, I'm planning to come'' to UM, Bridgewater said. ``It's pretty definite.''

Hill (5-9, 255) has turned out to be good at something else, too, in his three years at UM -- opening holes for the fleet of running backs behind him and damaging equipment. Two weeks ago at Georgia Tech, Hill cracked his helmet during a head-on collision in the backfield with a linebacker.
``All I know, it was a run play -- I don't remember the exact play,'' Hill said. ``I tend to hit with my head first and then bring the rest of my body and hands. I'm pretty sure it was helmet-to-helmet. The equipment guy came to me and I showed it to him. I said, `I need to get a helmet Tuesday.' He said, `No, you have to get one now.' He said I could keep it as a souvenir, which is pretty neat.''
It was the first time Hill shattered a helmet, but not the first time UM equipment manager Bobby Revilla has had to replace one. Hill said he has shattered his face mask ``a few times'' after big hits.

Teddy Bridgewater
Elite Miami Northwestern senior quarterback/UM oral commitment Teddy Bridgewater said Stephen Morris' emergence will not deter him from joining the Hurricanes.
``Right now, I'm planning to come'' to UM, Bridgewater said. ``It's pretty definite.'' UF and LSU are pursuing him; Miami's staff is cautiously optimistic.
If Morris plays the next three seasons (he will compete with Jacory Harris in 2011), Bridgewater -- if he redshirts next season -- would have two seasons of eligibility after Morris graduates. Or UM could use Bridgewater in 2011 as an off-the-bench weapon, like UF's Trey Burton.

Freshman quarterback Stephen Morris took all the snaps with the first team Tuesday during media viewing -- about 10 to 15 minutes early into the Hurricanes' practice session.
Coach Randy Shannon has said numerous times since the loss to Virginia Tech that Jacory Harris will start only if his ``timing and rhythm'' are down pat in practice, and only if he is sharp enough -- not rusty -- after missing more than three-and-half games since sustaining a concussion Oct. 30.

After reading some of these articles im becoming even more concerned about the focus of this team for the upcoming game against USF
This really isnt a good sign
Well at least I get a distraction today by the numerous turnovers the basketball team will commit tonight
275th in assists per game and 237th in F.G.% per game
Ok I had better chill on the basketball talk before my head explodes

Maybe we aren't as bad giving up the long run as I had led myself to believe.

No big deal, and yes, we ARE as bad giving up long runs as you believe. Anything over 10 on a run is a bad defensive play, and we have a bunch like that.

If U talk basketball or baseball for that matter the blog will explode before your head does.
Seems that nobody cares? The % of who cares about what goes about like this:
Football 100%
Baseball 30%
Basketball 20%
All other sports < 10%

Since the care for basketball is so little then I can let it loose and nobody will give a darn and just ignore it but yet make me feel a little better
Garrius are you kidding me with 19 fga and 13 of those are 3 point attempts. 15% on 3 points 31.6% overall and 57.1% from the line.
That helped

Who does he sound just like he was talking about?
"Instead of paying for good tools in the first place, they they bought the pretty good ones to save a few dollars.
And now they spend all their time sanding stuff instead of selling it. "

Ladies and Gentlemen, Sun Life Stadium is proud to present to you, the comedy stylings of Randy Dangerfield!
"Hey, what a great crowd. I tell ya, I get no respect. I mean, I told my offensive coordinator to surprise me, he showed me a naked picture of my wife!"
"Yeah, and my players are no great shakes, either. I told them someday they could be a pro, and they said 'so could you!'"
"And my trainer, Dr. Vinny Boom Bots, he says Jacory has a concussion, he doesn't have a concussion, he has a concussion, I said Hey Doc, just let me know when he can throw the ball in a straight line! I'm still waiting to hear from him."
"Oh and don't get me started on the defense. I told them to hold the offense, they come back with a defensive holding penalty! No respect."
"And the media, ohh the media, they are like a heaviness on my chest. I says to them, "Hey, Manny, Steve, Jorge, how about you get off my chest", They said "Last week you said to get off your back, make up your MIND!"
"No respect, why I tell you the only one who loves me is Donna Shalala. She says to me "Randy, you are doing a wonderful job. Why, the Canes used to be on the front pages all the time, arrests, fights, now they are NEVER front page news."
"I tell yah, sometimes, it's not worth waking up. I call up Jimmy Johnson, and I ask him, what should I work on the offense, the defense, the special teams? He paused and told me "Your resume.""
"And the other coaches, they don't let up either. I mean, Mike London, he says to me "Thank you, I wouldn't be where I am today without you" I said, you mean a black head coach? He says "No, a coach with an ACC win!"
"I tell you, I get no respect, why just the other day solarcane came up asking for my autograph, and I looked at the document. It was authorization to talk to Boise State about a trade of head coaches!"
"No respect at all, I mean, I want to get compared to the greats, Bear Bryant, Don Shula, but instead I get compared with Ty Willingham and Ron Zook!"
"Hey, you've been a great crowd, and now I would like to introduce you to our new starting quarterback, Jacory Harris. I would like to, but HE ain't TALKIN!"
"Thanks, you, make sure to tip 86Cane on the way out, I mean, this show wouldn't be here without him, you know what I mean!"

State Championship discussion.
So, since we are not playing Florida this year, and it looks like the Chic Fila bowl is out of the question, I would use this game against USF to judge how close we are to UF. It could have been used for the state title, but we screwed that up versus FSU.
Actually though, if UF beats FSU, and we beat USF by more than UF did, we could make the claim that UM >> USF, UF > USF, UF > FSU, so UM > FSU, right?
Nah. Heck, I wonder who will be cheering for the Gators and Noles on here this weekend? I want to see both teams drag out a snorefest to a tie, followed by NEITHER team scoring in OT, dragging it out until nobody else cares who wins, but that isn't likely to happen.
I guess the winner of that game gets to claim the state title, sort of, until 2013 gives us a real three team matchup.
Ugh, that FSU loss is sooo much worse than the OSU, UVA, or VT losses to me. To be that flat and bad in a rivalry game, it still stinks worse than even losing to UVA.

Miami Hurricanes looking to end football series with South Florida Bulls
By Greg Auman, Times Staff Writer
In Print: Wednesday, November 24, 2010
TAMPA — USF suddenly has a limited window of opportunity to get its first football win against Miami.
With the Bulls looking for an upset Saturday at Miami, the Hurricanes have told athletic director Doug Woolard they are not interested in continuing the rivalry beyond 2013, when their six-game contract ends.
The teams, which first played in 2005, are in the second year of a five-year run of playing on Thanksgiving weekend.
The Bulls wanted to extend the series. The original contract was signed when Paul Dee was Miami's athletic director. New AD Kirby Hocutt is declining to continue the series. Miami associate athletic director Chris Freet said Tuesday that "at this point, we are not interested in extending the deal," noting that Miami's 2015 schedule is complete, including a home game with Cincinnati.
There is one opening in 2014, Freet said, but the Hurricanes are looking at neutral-site options, much like a discussed 2013 game at Yankee Stadium.
Beating the state's traditional three powers is USF's best way to merit consideration as being on par with them. The Bulls beat Florida State in Tallahassee last season. They lost their first game against Florida in September. They get another shot at FSU in Tampa in 2012 and go back to Gainesville in 2015.
By 2013, USF could have more than seven conference games as the Big East eyes expansion. Woolard has scheduled other games against BCS conference opponents outside the state: next season at Notre Dame, Michigan State (2013, 2017), N.C. State (2014) and Indiana (2015-16).

Allen Bailey
The senior is was a 2009 All-ACC selection after tallying 34 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 2009. This defensive lineman has 100 tackles, 31 tackles for loss and 19 sacks in 48 career games at Miami. This senior currently ranks fourth in the ACC in sacks and leads all UM defensive linemen with 42 tackles.
Damien Berry
Berry leads the Hurricanes and ranks third in the ACC with 810 yards rushing this season. This senior has appeared in 44 career games and garnered nine starts, all coming this season at running back. Earlier this year, he joined Edgerrin James, Willis McGahee and Clinton Portis as one of only four ‘Canes since 1985 to have recorded for four straight 100-yard rushing games. In his career, this senior has 1,426 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Matt Bosher
Bosher has appeared in 48 games as Miami’s punter and 37 as the team’s kicker over the last four seasons. His 105 straight extra points made from 2008 to 2010 ranks second all-time in school history, while he also ranks seventh all-time with 249 career points. A three-time All-ACC performer, this senior currently leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in averaging 44.9 yards per punt.

Dallas and Ungar,
Thanks for responding to my posts yesterday. I think it's great how we all try to figure this thing out. Anyone can be negative and bash. That's the easy part. Finding the solution is the hard part, and I enjoy each one of your posts that are to the point with limited to no bashing. I'm the kind of guy that does not mention a single thing about a problem unless I have a solution. Complaining about something until my face is blue without an ending result is a waste of breath and time. We can complain about the problems all day long, but I'd rather do productive things. All we have to do is wait for SOUP to post: "There it is right there." and all is well in Hurricaneland.

I give Shannon next year and that's it. His 2008 class will be seniors and if they don't improve then (I hate to say this) he is not the right man for the job.
In college, HCs should at least get to see their first recruiting class all the way through. In NFL, you get 2 maybe 3 years, and that's it.
He should have plenty on top of that foundation of his. We'll have plenty of vets and seniors to take this thing to the top. I do understand what it takes from top to bottom to be the elite, and this is why I am ok with this season. Not really ok because I expect greatness every year from this school, but ok because I understand.
It's going to come down to the players once again. We simply need to understand that the coaches can only spend so much time with these players, and what I want to know is what are our players doing when they can't be with the coaches?
I want to know if at least VT, Ray Ray, McCarthy, Spence, DVD, Hill, B. Harris, and Cookie are all together in the film room going over who busted what coverage. Fix the stupid wide open TE issue.
I want to know if at least McCarthy, Spence, Cookie, Forston, Vernon, Bailey, and Regis are all together in the film room going over who is suppose to fill what hole on any given running play. Throw the safeties in there too. We've had very poor safety play on runs.
I said awhile back #34 was going to get us when we played VT. And he did on that same misdirection play up the middle FSU ate us up on.
I will be the happiest when I here we don't have to shuffle people around. I do not want to hear ever again how we need to move an OLB (McCarthy) to the MLB because we don't have a true MLB. Things like this have to go or we will never be elite.

And don't forget that we started the season with a former RB from Alaska at that spot.

You mean to tell me they're NOT fixing stuttering problems at THE U, but they are in the NFL?
I'm calling right now to rent a plane to fly over SunLife this Saturday with a banner that reads, "Fire SPA!".
""I was surprised he didn't stutter the other night when I was watching Monday Night Football. He actually said 'Antonio Dixon, The U.' I made sure I called him and left him a message about that," Franklin said of Dixon, who battled a severe stuttering problem when he was at Miami Booker T. Washington High and at UM."
