Oregon looking pretty crappy.
Kelly saying no sweat he will make a couple adjustments

AlpharettaCane

Solar - I usually try / and have sat down with a small slice of 'Cane fans down near the goal line, in the corner.

This time up in the north (?) end zone, but the fans were great...lots of old school threads, lots of laughs, lots of f-bombs (thank god my daughter wasn't there), lots of VERY knowledgeable 'Cane fans. A very ballsy Tech fan came up and started jawing with the section; I thought a riot was going to break out.

Nice to be around people that you can relate to...the blog / internet can be a little isolating for us fans far away from S Florida.

One guy had his leg amputated, but his stump near the thigh was wrapped in what looked like 'Canes underwear. He was sporting the Pro Combat uni (how ironic) with a lot of gold teeth. Oh,and very f***ed up!

Overall, I thought lots of Canes fans, pretty good showing.

Oh, a lady in front of us was blowing in a conch shell painted green and orange - it was loud as hell! Like a S Florida variant of the vuvuzela. I wondered if her husband was Conch Salad from the space.

AlpharettaCane

Solar - you can add Wesley to that list of meeting attendees! (was going to say Latwan Anderson but I'm not sure he even got an audience with the Boss.)

solarcane

Alph LMAO!
sounds like I missed a great time.

I used to wrap my stump in Canes underwear too!!

Super: I'm still not sold. Too many reasons (at least that I see) why Shannon isn't the guy.

The lack of being able to get team up for certain games (and the associated crushing losses), the media, time management, record with coordinators, special teams, penalties, recruiting, record vs. ACC, developing talent, LB/QB/OL depth, etc. etc. etc. No division title (much less conference). No bowl wins.

One more year. Next year's schedule is no gimme if I remember correctly.

Today was fun though.

Alph, Butch couldn't beat VT or FSU for five straight years. He couldn't win big games for five straight years. They got blown out and lost 3 straight games when he was rebuilding.

Shannon's doing a complete rebuild and just ask yourself this one question:

If RS had a SEC budget do you honestly think Nix, Walton, Fluzzi et al including Mini Martz??

Recall, his first choice for OC was Dirk Koetter but he went to the NFL I'm sure because of the money.

Your other points about recruiting, clock management etc are ridiculous. Les Miles screws up clock management a lot more than RS ever has. In fact, he's screwed up more THIS YEAR than RS has in his entire HC career.

And homnestly considering the shit-hole the Idiot Coker left behind, I'd say he's AHEAD of schedule given the academic and budget constraints.

But people often don't like to consider ALL factors when evaluating things.

solarcane

Alph I'm with the majority that Morris is going to be starting next season.

With Randy who knows who starts next week?

He does the honorable traditional thing if J12 is ready he starts him with the shortest leash in history.

Or Randy crumbles and starts Morris because
fan pressure and his scorching hot seat has him betray his own belief in what fair is.

Jacory will throw a pick within 8 minutes into the game and be playing where ever his dad sends him next year anyway, so it's not a long term distraction.

I'm in with Captain O a little on thinking Id swap a Coastal crown for a guy with Morris' upside.

orange 'n green in the vein

What I want to know is, how did Morris fall to the like 100th best QB rated coming out of high school? Oh, that's right, the stars get added to your name when you choose the school with the most fans.

AlpharettaCane

Cav - won't argue the Les Miles / clock management thing; he's as lost or more than the 'Canes ever will be. Last I looked though he's got his guys right in the mix, and has been pretty successful during his tenure.

Plus, beating Alabama and the Devil Saban recently surely made his stock rise with the fan base.

At end of day its all about wins / losses, and from a comparative standpoint, Shannon doesn't come close to measuring up vs. his predecessers.

Today's win vs. Bees puts him at what, .500 vs the ACC?

AlpharettaCane

Solar - don't know if unwritten rule about not losing your job due to injury overrides need to win now, and go with what's working.

Guess they didn't have that unwritten rule when Wally Pipp played!

Morris stares down receivers with the best of them; all I know is that I like the added dimension his mobility brings, plus he throws with a lot of zip on the ball - vs. those hope and pray lobs.

I think we'll be ok either way, actually.

BTW, no comments from you tonight on Oregon's unis?

Good point, amazing what subscription demographics have to do with a kid's potential huh?

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Alph, absolutely the Ws and Ls are the last factor. I don't dispute that at all. But all things considered, esp. with depth and money as factors, I'd say he's on course.

His problems actually are not the ones you cited per se. His problems, challenges, however you want to see them, are in between the Xs and Os, the subtleties of getting into his kids' heads and getting them ready to play every week.

One thing is for sure after watching CFB this season, NO ONE has the one formula for it.

And if you want to give RS Les Miles' budget, official and unofficial, and his admission standards and release of him of a complete rebuild, RS would have won more games than Les.

Again, if you want to compare Ws and Ls, compare everything else.

RS has his own set of internal challenges and it's going to be interesting to see him work through them. This QB situation is really going to test him cause Morris is head and shoulders above J12.

solarcane

alph,
When Cal came out dressed as sticks of butter they trumped the Cherub winged wanker outfits, I had to yield the floor.

AlpharettaCane

Nice to see Urban throwing the head-set.

Six

Cav - execution?

Didn't you get the memo, execution has nothing to do with it

AlpharettaCane

Sticks of butter just scored!

Between Cal-Oregon, SCarolina / Fla, and Troy on the movie channel, I've got a serious case of ADD.

Not to mention blogging over shoulder...

Six

Alph - nothing funnier

than seeing Corch Urban Meyers throwing his headset

AlpharettaCane

Cav - we're polar opposites on Shannon, always have been, always will be. All good.

Agree - motivation seems to be an issue with these kids. I tend to pin that on coaches vs. players, but its' probably both. Can't figure this team out, week in and week out.

I did like the way he went ballstic over that fumble / spot call this afternoon. Good to see the emotion on the sideline.

Hey yalll the gators suc....

SOUP

SIX...GOT YOUR MESSAGE.

CALL U BACK TOMORROW...

mi@mic@ne

I feel bad for Meyer ...he gonna end up in the hospital tonight

Six

86 - alright. Real cool kid, very nice

AlpharettaCane

Six - especially when the Evil Genius has kept his visor on over on the other sideline.

He's got headset on over visor, so he'd have a little more trouble if he needs to fling that thing off.

I'm sure Garcia will give him that opportunity, sooner or later.

Cock's D looks ferocious tonight - the beast is hungry!

Six

mi@mic@ne - you feel bad for Meyer? the hell is wrong with you man, ha. If I could take a still image of his face with the way it looks right now and put it up on my wall like one of those Fathead posters you can buy, I'd never have a bad day in my entire life b/c I'd just look at that jackhole with his sorry face and it would make me smile from ear to ear

mi@mic@ne

The old ball coach is one cock Meyer aint going to be able to beat... hehe

AlpharettaCane

There are a lot of Gator fans disguised as empty seats in the Swamp right now.

Wonder how many carries Lattimore will get the rest of the game

I'm addicted to this game ...

Yea, the jet ski pirates on there are right out on Lake Lanier. I wouldn't mind having a couple grenades with me either.

Solar, lol, wherever his dad sends him next year....too funny.

This will be very interesting indeed. I don't think it'll be fan pressure that will force RS hand though, although I'm sure you meant that in jest.

I think the team will sputter with him back there, point blank, UNLESS Morris really lights a fire under him and he plays smarter and sharper than ever.

Even still, he doesn't have the gun to make the throws Morris makes, so I don't think it will matter.

RS will blame it on the playcalling, at least that's what he may be hoping. Hoping J12 can still deliver with the new run-first play-action playcalling. Maybe but I doubt it. We'll see soon enough.

Who on here said Nevada will beat Boise????
I'm watching Nevada and they look clueless out there.

solarcane

Captain,
With true competition at QB, the O Line being more experienced and a quality running game it is looking better and better.

The defense played with pure passion too except for a #26 taking plays off.

AlpharettaCane

Solar - was that you earlier in the year re Nevada, because I may be guilty as well!

Of course, I thought Utah was a sleeper, and that they'd hammer ND. They may fall clear out of the top 25.

What in god's name is going on in Austin? And I thought we had it bad.

Dog is giving me that "Ok, enough football for one day. Time to go out" look.

Go Clemson - beat 'Noles.

#26's injury I think affected him more than he'd like to admit. Jo Jo made some good plays though.

WHERE IS JAMAL REID??????????? He was ready to pass RR in the Spring. WTH happened to him?

Solar, I thought they might give them a game but after watching a few of these WAC teams, the defense is not too high on the list with them.

solarcane

Captain,
could be with Ray Ray, maybe he was confident #44, and #31 were getting it done and he didn't have to blast anyone and re injure himself.
I am just used to seeing him coming up ready to deliver a hit.

Just after I said Nevada looks confused, they start playing pretty well.

aight I will catch you guys later

Miami Hurricanes THANKS FANS!! From Jorge Milian of the Palm Beach Post: "Give credit where credit is due and it goes to several thousand orange-and-green clad Hurricane supporters that made themselves heard often during Saturday’s game. I’ve been covering this beat since 1995 and, aside from games at Florida State, I can’t remember a ...game in which more UM fans were in attendance at a road game."

Too bad about tech. It's not like UM didn't deserve it though. The sad part is I think we can beat them at home. And I'm thinking NC State will probably roll 'em in the ACCCG. Oh well, just got home from Roger Waters. Over the top! I'm going again on Tuesday in Tampa! Good night legion!

Looking at the highlights, we are stacked at RB for a few years with LM, James, Clements/Johnson. The oline looks like it could be very good. Once the receivers become consistent and the QB situation improves (JH gets better or Morris starts) this O could be very dangerous in the future.
