NICE! I am sooooooooooooo tempted.

macjones

The Horny Toads will play for all the B.C.S. marbles. Just U'all Hurricane fans wait and see.

Of these two Top 3 teams, Auburn and the Duck, the War Eagle has the greater possibility to stumble. Think Roll Tide and the S.E.C. championship game.

pbcfrcane13

And what stat are you reading that says Morris is better then Harris?

macjones

Oregon vs. T.C.U. would be a classic B.C.S. championship encounter.

Just imagine, the ABC/ESPN promotional marquee says... High Octane O vs. True Grit D. lmao

SOUP

Cav, Six, Zakkee...great blogging today!

Makes me proud to be a Canespacer.

macjones

Posted by: pbcfrcane13 | November 07, 2010 at 03:35 PM

Yeah. Morris hasn't played enough games to get an accurate reading of his game.

However, this Stevie kid has ' beaucoup potential. ' Yes.

The road trek to A-T-L will relatively make this reading ' clearer. ' Especially when Miami flies home with the victory!

For instance, with another week of practice, that Whipple Factor will be able to relatively open up the playbook for the Second Coming. LOL

SOUP

And what stat are you reading that says Morris is better then Harris?

Posted by: pbcfrcane13 | November 07, 2010 at 03:35 PM

Four very specific stats are involved in the scientific analysis of why Morris is better than Harris:

The eyeball stat.

The leadership stat.

The talent stat.

The team player stat.

Morris 4, Harris 0. Any other questions?

pbcfrcane13

Man I've heard this story before...Hey just saying lol

macjones

An intangible to consider going into Miami's game with GA Tech.

Johnson's Rambling Wreck squad will be playing to become ' bowl eligible. '

Perhaps, I shouldn't lay down the sawbuck on Team Shannon. LMAO

Six

Bippity-bop-diggity-doh-mackity-mac, increase your font size on your screen or something to help you read what is written

Didn't I say the win was a team effort and it wasn't just the Defense that won it for them?

That was the whole point of my posts that were like my boy Calvin-esque type length after the game

Six

Ed Reed with the INT today and he almost flipped it back to Ray Ray as he was being tackled, who was following him down the field

Jimmy Graham also got a TD today to add to the other Canes that scored and kept the consecutive streak alive

How many weeks is that now? 128 or something?

macjones

PB we have been down this road before, huh?

I love how everyone's gut tells them so many things....Crud up, Kyle, Kirby, Marve, Jacory and now the new king in town.

Understand we all want him to succeed but I think the most mature responsible way to handle him is to prop him...yes but do not expect that he is the answer to all that ails this team.

This is the slow and steady time in the development phase.

Nonetheless, the upcoming game against a . 500 Rambling Wreck team will give Stevie another opportunity to show his game of the Cane sort. No.

canechic

Yes he needs to develop and may or may not this remains to be seen but let's stop being fortune tellers. We have no idea what he will become....I hope good but I am not going to get on this roller coaster again. Slow and Steady like the kiddie ride.

Game plan against GT...STOP the run in the middle...We need CMac, Spence, Cookie and perhaps Cain to show up big time.Redshirt sophomore QB Washington( Nesbitt out for the season) throws some floaters our DBS should make a couple of interceptions...GT has a decent D...Run the ball at least 40 times and we win. Morris needs to read the defense better than he did against the Terps and use his arm strenght like he did on the last drive against Maryland...

Albeit, the Turtle D-unit is relatively stronger than the Rambling Wreck.

Even after Miami totaled 505 yards of offense, Maryland is still ranked in the Top 50 total defense category.

For instance, the Turtle is ranked No. 37. And Johnson's GA Tech crew is nowhere to found in the nations Top 50 team defense stat's.

Of course, the Rambling Wreck probably played a relatively stronger SOS. But not that stronger than the Turtle.

The Whipple Factor had great success against Georgia Tech last season, although that was a Cane home game.

Then, throw in the concrete fact that Shannon had Miami's offense shift into 1s gear and all.

So, let Miami fandom, as well as Whipple's apologist see what the Whipple Factor is really about with a road game.

Heck, Marky Mark has his QB de jour, now. And he and his Hurricane staff have another week to prepare The Second Coming.

All in all, this is a winnable game for Team Shannon. Don't U'all Cane rowdies think?!

mac - you're laughing b/c I'm the one that said that I spent time on the bench or down in the bullpen of a Div.2 college baseball powerhouse, more than out in the field?

Wow. Ha. Ya, I guess I could've lied and said that I played in every single game for 4 straight years over our starting CFielder who actually transferred from the Canes to our team his Frosh year ... or took that I took the spot in the rotation from one of our pitchers who transferred from University of Texas

Where did you go to college and even sniff being on a collegiate level team again? ha. Our batting tee would strike you out, let alone a live pitcher

I won't even ask if you played football, let alone even tennis or golf in high school ... collegiate level isn't even in the question with you

It's not even funny anymore with your asinine statements man, it's borderline sympathetic to your plight of imbecility

And once again, you bring up something that has no relevance to anything at all, that I never said .... even after the fact that I addressed that before and proved you wrong

Solar, that comparison is difficult because we can't see the HC's skills the same way we can see a QB's skills. We can speculat based on what they say and don't say, how the team responds to some degree, although with Shannon having so many Cokerites it was difficult to tell.

But with a QB you can see what they can and cannot do rather quickly. You could see the difference Morris arm-strength made against UVA.

Against MD, we got to see the whole package. He is to J12 what J12 was to Marve. Or better yet, he is to J12 what Dorsey was to Kenny K.

First you have the tangibles....arm-strength stretched the field, opens up passing lanes, completes balls that J12 was not completing in Mini Martz's scheme.

Then you have the intangibles, summarizes by the photos of him on the sideline compared to J12 on the sideline.

Finally you have history and internal dissension on the team. J12 was dividing the team. RS was letting him, in one of the most idiotic moves ever, although it may be more common than we thought. J12 has throw bad balls THIS YEAR that a junior should be long since finished throwing. Part of it is playcalling but a nice chunk of it is arm-strength.

Notice the increase in YACs by almost every WR, TB especially. Notice the wider variety of routes that were open.

All this comes from being able to hurt a team deep. MD was not prepared for it.

Bud Foster will be but with that strength established it's going to force his team to defend the field in a way they haven't done so far.

The sum of the parts is enormous. The domino effect of Morris, Miller and James is serious. And don't let Mini Martz start to use the RB like Martz used Faulk. It'll really be over then.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Mac, no one is saying the defense hasn't held their own and carried the team all season long. Hell, the defense was playing at a BCS level there for a few weeks.

But they, along with the rest of the team has been up and down recently, more down than up.

I'd say MD was a total team win because each side executed when it really mattered, and each side made mistakes that hurt the team.

But the important piece was that they fought for each other and won. MD's was playing well, hitting a good stride on both sides of the ball. They were confident coming in, esp. with Morris at the helm.

And we beat them with a true frosh at the helm, and a bunch of youngins on the OL.

It's a stepping stone game, not a statement game. They may be ready for that by VT. Maybe. It depends on if they can improve this week against GT.

j.w.

Cav, you're taking a lot of internet gosip for the gospel with this post. Not saying it's all untrue, but be careful buying all that.
I agree with you that Morris threw the ball better, put his receivers in better position to get YAC, but a lot of that was becuase MD's defensive backs played pretty poorly and their coaching staff makes as many strange calls on coverage as any other teams (ours included). I like what Morris brings, but let's see him take on an Al Groh or Bud Foster defense befroe we annoint him the starter.

What!

Didn't the Whipple Factor ' own ' GA Tech in last year's game.

A game, where Shannon probably ordered Whipple to ' shut down the offense' in the fourth quarter.

Sebastian

I was at the game and will watch the tape tonight

Things I took from the game on the O

#17 throws a great ball but will need to work on his over the middle decisions. I know in time he will im just talking currently

#84 is a darn good blocker, that man will flat out move people out of the way. He is a major part of the run game.

#77,#47,#3,LM6(of course),#5and #85 played and blocked very well

On D......Once again #57 showed why he should be a 1st round pick, there hasnt been 1 guy this year that has pushed him back. He gets held more then any other player ive seen play this year

#26 and #7 should never ever come off the field. Why #29 gets as much p.t. as hes been getting I cant be sure. I just go by what I see on the field and those 2 are unreal when they are out there

It seems #31 is even getting quicker when going to the ball carrier or covering a TE

#1 looked like he was playing a little dinged up about halfway thru the 1st Q. He didnt have that explosive step like im used to seeing when ive been to the games this year. I was wondering if he was bumped up just a bit making a tackle with #57. It wasnt anything serious because he still played a decent game

Cav,

Good point. I remember thinking the same thing... MD shot themselves in the foot almost as much as we did with numerous dropped passes. Our 'D' got LUCKY on many occasions with some poor execution by the MD 'O.'

Our penalty yards are just ridiculous though... (not EVEN including the "phantom" face mask fiasco.) We have GOT to find a way to clean up our act.

I like-ee Stevie too, but he's still only a Freshman... the kid's going to have some rough times ahead... we're going to need him AND JH12 before this season is over.
