its great to see the team beginning to come together down the stretch as opposed to falling apart late season as has been the m.o. under randy

Sebastian

The `Canes have to win this game

No question about it

Another loss against a ranked opponent just cant happen

The trend must come to an end

Everybody here agrees. Let's hope the team hears U and agrees too.

Sebastian

Going out on a limb and taking Michigan over the Badgers?

Now that is stepping out there

SOUP

Sounds like a plan.......how far is the Hampton from the turnpike?

Posted by: raizecane | November 18, 2010 at 02:20 PM

5 minutes. Take 595 West from the TP to University.

Who killed the blob today?

Something very interesting is going on. Nobody seems excited about the game? Apathy has set in?

"For this week at least, Mike Gundy's alma matter is the proverbial man, without a doubt, in the Big 12 as they zero in on an epic bedlam showdown against their in-state tormentors from Norman for the right to represent the south division out in the mid-west to close out the regular season. I don't expect them to be caught looking ahead against Kansas in Lawrence this weekend so T. Boone Pickens could get his money's worth finally this year if the Cowboys can stay on the bull all the way to the buzzer to finish the season."

NOW THAT'S WRITING MY FRIENDS!

Old Skool

Apathy? How about confidence?
Saturday Beamer Ball becomes Beamer Bawl

Ohio very interesting info from ESPN there. Thanks.

ChicagoCane

Ungar - I will pass along the thanks to the Schwartz boys if I see them. Although I rarely frequent places where I could rub elbows with those guys.

As for prediction - Canes get up big in the first half only to squeak out a 28-27 win over a surging 2nd half Va Tech team.

After that, we tell those pesky USF Bulls to grab their ankles and show those recruits who went there how terrible of a choice they made.

Sebastian

Come Saturday you can be sure its going to pick up

Either its going to be fire everybody that had anything to do with the program for the last 4 years or it will be where was this team all year long. If they played like this they could of been playing for the NC

So come Sat. expect this place to be near the 1,000 mark

CaneRock

If our defense and STs give the offense a chance...THEN MIAMI WINS!!! Simple right?

solarcane

"Either its going to be fire everybody that had anything to do with the program for the last 4 years or it will be where was this team all year long. If they played like this they could of been playing for the NC"

sebas, nails it about perfectly.

Maybe a little Heisman talk about Morris thrown in, regardless of the fact the running backs will have amassed 170 yds. and run for three tds.

And let's not forget my man Mi@mic@ne's twenty game time observations that the ACC officials should be wearing hoods.

fmcane

thanks soup e-mail has been sent

solarcane

canerock,
I like it, the defense, I think will deliver.
The special teams are overdue to make something big happen.
With all the talk about VT's special teams, I think our ST guys will play with a chip on there shoulder and surprise us.

ChicagoCane

Hopefully the field will be okay after tonight's game. I am guessing it will be a little torn up after such a quick turnaround.

The Dolphins are just bad ... and it's good to see Brandon Marshall helping out his team by throwing a temper tantrum in the last game and flipping the ball at Cutler on the sideline in the game tonight that cost his team yardage

Way to help your team jackass

1 TD on the year? Davone Bess has 3 and he's making $300k to your 4 year $47 Million

Ya, you had a great game against the Jets early on in the year and a nice game against the Packers

Best WR in the state this year is a rookie in Tampa from Syracuse

He has only 25 less yards on 15 less catches, but he has 4 more TDs

If Marshall had as many TDs as he's been arrested, he'd be a superstar

Six

CGNC - ya, I remember the celery stick thing coming around b/c my fridge was running empty but I always have a container of fresh salsa no matter what .... I had like salsa, water, apple juice, lemon juice, apples, bananas, spaghetti sauce, chicken and celery

Was craving that salsa, so I started breaking off the celery stalks and dippin/chompin them with salsa

Salsa on omelettes are a must. Salsa with scrambled eggs too. Hell, I put salsa on my damn spaghetti

MH- Offensive Line

UM's new-and-vastly-improved offensive line is a significant step up from 2009. The new group, from left to right: 6-7, 312-pound tackle Orlando Franklin; 6-2, 315-pound guard Harland Gunn; 6-4, 295-pound center Horn; 6-4, 330-pound guard Brandon Washington; and 6-8, 355-pound tackle Seantrel Henderson (not to mention 6-6, 300-pound versatile backup Brandon Linder and 6-6, 330-pound alternating right tackle Jermaine Johnson). Washington is a sophomore, Johnson is a redshirt freshman and Henderson and Linder are true freshmen.

``You look at the size of some of those players and the matchups and say whoever had to line up in front of No. 77 [Henderson] is going to have a tough time,'' said Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Al Groh after last Saturday's loss. ``The good news,'' Groh said sarcastically, ``is that he will be there for three more years.''

Morris opened the eyes of Shannon and offensive coordinator Mark Whipple to a game strategy tailored to Harris that was laced with risk. It played to Harris' weaknesses and marginalized the team's strengths. Yet the coaches clung to it stubbornly, and it will probably end up costing them a shot at the Atlantic Coast Conference title game.

``Why don't you run the ball more often?'' Shannon was repeatedly asked. Neither Whipple nor Harris could be asked the same question because they are not permitted to speak to the media. Shannon replied with the usual coachspeak, and the answer was lost in translation.

Quarterback Jacory Harris, who practiced this week in a green noncontact jersey, could be in uniform and ready to play Saturday when Virginia Tech comes to Sun Life Stadium.

Manny- Dan Morgan

The Miami Hurricanes are in a tough spot heading into Saturday's showdown with 14th-ranked Virginia Tech. Even if the Canes beat the Hokies, they still need Virginia Tech to lose to Virginia a week from Saturday to earn a ticket to the ACC Championship game.

Shannon has been impressed with Morris' composure in the past three games.

"It has been wonderful," Shannon said. "He is the manager of the football team. He is not trying to win it for himself. … He puts the ball in their hands and executes what he has to do."

Watch him 'Lige, He's quickern' a rattler and twice as deadly

"It's the quickest way to win a football game because you're always talking about big-yardage plays, momentum plays," said Beamer, whose emphasis on scoring in ways other than offense has been branded BeamerBall.

"Everybody who played at Miami goes back and hangs out on the beach,'' said Hester, who grew up 80 miles north of the city. "Every club you go into, you're going to find someone who played for the 'Canes. We all bonded together. We go half on a table and chill all night.''

There was a Chase Ford sighting Saturday at Georgia Tech, and no one was happier to see the Hurricanes TE make a 14-yard catch in the first quarter than Coach Randy Shannon.
“I was happy for him, but also was happy for this football team because we needed Chase to step up,” Shannon said.
“That’s one catch that gives him a little bit of confidence. He played hard in the game as far as blocking and doing those things. Now he has to take that next step and make it two weeks in a row.”

Just watched the highlights of the Dolphins game last night. Such a shame that all I saw was Marshall's injury, Marshall's tantrum, and Thiggy getting the snot knocked out of him a number of times. Why in the world did they only run the ball 7 times?????

Can anyone explain that to me?

Thigpen is the next Tony Romo, why waste his opportunites throwing the ball with stiffs like Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams?

I know, sarcasm doesn't show in print. Dolphins are playing for that top 10 draft pick, I guess.

Go Canes!

Ungar

Native, I missed you yesterday. Thanks for this morning's expresso shot of Canes information.

Ungar

"Everybody who played at Miami goes back and hangs out on the beach," said Hester, who grew up 80 miles north of the city.

Native, that one was posted by ChicagoCane yesterday, but from the Trib up there. The Sentinel swiped it lock stock and barrel. Still a great read.

Hester was shut down, but Olsen made some NICE catches out there for the Bears. Then he was willing to respond to trash talk from a Dolphin after a play where a penalty should have been thrown.

Picture the Dolphins if they had grabbed more Canes, they would be a better team with a better attitude. And locals would be more likely to stick to the Canes, knowing they would have a better shot at being local in the pros.

Yatil Green, I blame you!

Portis and Gore and McGahee in the backfield, Johnson and Moss and Wayne running routes, Olsen and Shockey in the 2 TE set, Vilma and Reed and who is that #52 on the Ravens, his name escapes me on the defense, I bet even Dorsey could do better than Thigpen did last night.

Did I mention that my boys have Madden 10, and they did that, drafted Canes whereever possible? I brings a tear to my eye, seeing a Dolphins team like that. They are of course undefeated, just like the real one would be.

Ungar

Alright, I am out for a bit, I don't want this to turn into UngarSpace....

solarcane

ungar, roach, skool,
Thanks, I'm glad those things make you guys smile.

Bad Bart

Hey Unger..I have a Madden 10 Dolphins Dynasty that has Canes at every position. Little weak at only the QB position with Dorsey and Brock Berlin. Feagles at Punter, but I am worried that he is gonna be retiring soon. May have to create Matt Bosher which I hate doing because I always make them better than they are in RL. Won 2 SB in a row with this bunch.

Ungar

Bad Bart, that is awesome!

And no other college could do that, we are unique in owning so many stars in so many positions.

I do wish that I had the opportunities and toys that these kids have. I mean, football at my age was either this:

http://www.videogamecritic.net/images/intel/super_pro_football.png

or this:

http://www.blackmarketantiques.com/imagemagic.php?img=images/20100606072155-

These kids get to be GMs, coaches designing their own plays, and even create their own players.

You do know that NFL football in about 20 years is gonna be unrecognizable, when all those cool plays end up occurring in the real world.

Sebastian

Six,
I see the Bucs WR, Mike Williams was arrested after being pulled over early Friday morning for going 12 mph over the speed limit then adding a DUI by blowing a .065 and a .061.

The Bucs said he is making the trip to San Fran

Do you think anything will become of this because of his past?

I hated to hear this for both Mike and the Bucs

They didnt need something like this with a 6-3 record and the tough part of the schedule coming up

Bad Bart

Unger, you can play the same games your kids do. I do! And I am 37! I still love my football games on the PS3....

Question for all the gamers out there my age..

Which games do you remember and miss the most from the following systems:

Atari 2600--Pacman

Original Nintendo--Techmo Bowl & Contra

solarcane

atari 2600
Pitfall and River Raid

DZ8

The Dolphins offensive line is injured all over the place. Jake Long has a bad shoulder, will require surgery after the year. We lost our 2nd string center last night and played most of the game with Incognito sliding over meaning our backup LG was also playing.

It all starts up front and the Dolphins have had bad luck and poor decisions as far as aquiring offensive linemen.

I still like Sparano but never liked Parcells.

Thought our defense performed admirably :)

Ungar

solar, I thought your games were played on an abacus! (50%)

Bad Bart, there is never any TIME for me to play, and they trounce me due to their many hours head start in each game...

Oddyssey 2 -- (I begged for an Atari, but "Santa" brought me this knockoff) don't remember the title, but is was a Space Invaders/Galaga clone.

Amiga -- don't remember the title, but the hockey game was good, and I don't even like hockey.

Mac -- Hardball, way ahead of it's time.

PC -- Age of Empires, controlling whole groups of people for the first time, so cool.

Never had Nintendo or PS3, jumped to the motion gaming on the Wii, never looked back.

DZ8

Contra was awesome!

Ungar

Argh! - Oddyssey 2, Pick Axe Pete, a Donkey Kong knockoff, THAT was the game that kept me from dating until I was 16. How could I forget that one...

solarcane

ungar, lol!

I do recall thinking that nothing was ever going to top the technology of putting English on the "ball" in Pong.
