Indeed! I wonder where SolarCane is? LOL

nice one canesteeler,

I see your reflexes are getting better, how is the health coming?

Canes will stomp the Hokies. This will be an old-school metting out of justice.

OK....so will anybody be at the Hampton Inn on Friday night? Will anybody be partying after the game?

Who's going? Where the tailgating taking place at? What time are we starting?

Now that we know Morris is starting ,these are the kind of questions we need to be asking. :-)

One of my favorites from that was "Placenta Helper". Censors killed it, while today it would be tame in the Family Guy era...

Damn I'm sitting here laughing thinking about some of those skits the first 2-3 years of SNL when most of them still had their brain cells... Two skits in particular that I'm still laughing about right now are, first the Super Heros party. Murray as Superman, Ackroyd as the Flash, he went out to get more beer n chips, walked out of the camera shot for 2 seconds and then reappeared with all kinds of food in both arms. But the topper was when Belushi, as the Hulk, went to the bathroom and was gone for sometime. Then the Flash knocked on the door to hurry him up and as he emerged, the look on their faces as the wave hit them was priceless ! " Ahhhh come on, it's not suppose to smell like roses."

The other, that had to be year one, and I haven't seen it in 20 years, was another party scene base in old 18th Century England of famous inventors. Garrett Morris in a powdered whig would announce the guests as they entered. First, was Buck Henrey as Lord Sandwhich, eating a corn beef on rye. Then Harry Scherar as Sir Argyle in his sweater. A few others then finally, Bill Murray is introduced ... "Ladies and Gentleman, introducing, Mr. and Mrs. ahhhh DOUUUUUCHEBAG !!!" To which he strolls in smiling and gets a little ribbing from the others. Then Sir Argyle says, "Ahhhhh it's never a real party til a Douchebag shows up! "

I'd type lol, but it wouldn't do laughing loudly outload justice... Damn, I have to find these on youtube somewhere or I get the first 3 season on dvd soon. God those were groundbreaking skits. Thanks for the remind Ungar. Feels like i just did 50 situps.

btw, ... I'm Fred Garvin, Male prostitute ... Ohhhhh, I've seemed to have cut myself ... That's why I eat little chocolate doughnuts ... Jane U INCREDABLY Ignorant slut. It's SLUNKMEAT like you ...

Damn I do have some brain cells left.

Freddie's buzzzzzzing off ... Beisbol haz been berry berry good to me... Tooooooooddddd ... Samurai Delicatessen ... DEAD HONKY ... Nixon, "There was this boy that I visited in the hospital who was hit in the eye by a surface to air missle ... My name is Rosanne Roseannadana ... The Loooooovvvveee Train ... Garrett Morris on Weekend Update for the hearing impaired ...

Many of these are on U-tube. God what a blast from the past.

I'm down, but wanted to tell everyone,

Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow ... And a better Saturday gameday.

solar - I haven't seen those Sticky Pods before, but props to whoever marketed them b/c that's a great idea

Old Skool should have some input on it as well, he knows what's up

One thing I was looking for in those kits they showed was some kind of spring action device like they have on steady cams to absorb any movement up/down, to keep the shot level to some degree

Then again, if the whole essence of the device is to allow the realism of seeing what it looks like from the viewpoint of a speeding car, boat, etc. then you might actually want to see the shot go as the car/boat/etc. goes ... such as if someone is to take that thing and put it on the front of a raft that you're using to go over insane rapids, you might want to let the viewer try and experience what you went through by having the camera go up/down with the raft instead of it being stabilized on a straight ahead shot the entire time

I think that thing would be cool as hell to have on your kayak, esp. when you're just gliding over the water on a calm day or something

Sebastian57 - thanks for sharing everything you said about your personal experience with concussions ... stay strong brother

That's great that you and/or your wife goes down to Bayfront. I've been there a couple of times, but always hear about it, esp. with the helicopters flying people in there or to Tampa General

Let me know if I could possibly help with those kids in any way, whether it's me actually going down to volunteer to help at all or just getting the awareness out by talking about it on my radio show or me possibly pitching some idea to some of our producers or reporters up at work

I'm still amazed with the All Children's Hospital down a couple of blocks from Bayfront as well, esp. with what Vinny Lecavalier did in helping there with the $3 Million he committed to them

I think it's officially called the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center - and he has the VL4Kids

26,500 square feet with 28 individual patient rooms and nice accommodations for the parents to stay overnight with their child who is being treated there

Special HEPA filtered positive airflow system throughout the entire facility so the kids who are being treated for chemotherapy that have weakened immune systems can go anywhere in the building, esp. the playrooms, instead of being stuck in their own patient room

That place is awesome

MH- McCarthy

``To me, he's done a great job,'' cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke said. ``He's the heart of our defense -- it all revolves around him. When he moved to middle linebacker this year, I knew it was going to be successful because he can play all three positions.''

Freshman Stephen Morris will make his third start at 3:30 p.m., when the No. 14 Hokies (8-2, 6-0) play the No. 24 Hurricanes (7-3, 5-2) in a nationally televised Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.

Coach Randy Shannon has been praising senior Pat Hill for helping the run game with his excellent blocking skills.

Hill, 5-9 and 255 pounds, is a selfless a player. He never complains about not getting the ball and said he savors his responsibility.

Manny- Pat Hill

Hill, a fifth-year senior from Torrance, Calif. and starting fullback, has made head-butting and opening holes his specialty at UM. Last week, he took that a step further when he cracked his helmet during a head-on collision with a defensive player from Georgia Tech.

"All I know it was a run play -- I don't remember the exact play," Hill said. "I tend to hit with my head first and then bring the rest of my body and hands. I'm pretty sure it was helmet to helmet. The equipment guy came to me and I showed it to him. I said `I need to get a helmet Tuesday.' He said `No, you have to get one now.' He said I could keep it as a souvenir, which is pretty neat."

With the longest catch in his career, he tied Michael Irvin for most touchdowns in a season (11) in UM history and joined Irvin and Lamar Thomas as the only players with 800 yards receiving in back-to-back seasons.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder has 879 yards on 51 catches this season, 235 yards fewer than Eddie Brown's single-season school record from 1985. His 20 career touchdowns are tied for third most, six fewer than Irvin.

Jacory- Neurologist

"I think a lot of fans and people just want to see, 'OK, what is Coach going to do.' It's not that. I'm looking at what is best for Jacory. It's not what's best for Randy Shannon or this football team."

The Sticky Pod seems like a good idea, we have used suction cups for car mounts to avoid scratching the paint.

I really can't offer any insight though into the Sticky Pod itself. I rarely get to use consumer equipment. The key is whether the video camera you want to mount it on is waterproof and if not whether you're willing to take a risk.

Thank you Six

Yes, All Childrens Hospital is a a Hospital almost to hard to explain. The few times I have gone in there to visit the children I am in awe of the place.

I never had the chance to go to Tampa General although I have heard good things about it

There can never be to much awareness about concussions and what they can lead to later in life. That sounds good about getting the word out across the airwaves even more. I really wonder sometimes if the people(parents and coaches) of these kids quite understand that a concussion doesnt have to be the violent hit they see on tv. Theres plenty of other signs out there that are over looked that even the player doesnt know about and that goes for any sport

Thanks again Six and im going to pass this on to my Doctor and he will be in contact with your station and maybe we can get together to come in

Speaking of 12% forever, what % in that poll to start the year had us with 3 losses?

I bet those people hate that they were right.

Posted by: Ungar | November 16, 2010 at 11:16 AM

92% of fans here voted for the Canes to go 10-2 or better.

I was like RaizeCane before the season: I said MANY times that the only teams that could beat Miami were OSU, FSU and VT.

But I also thought that Miami would win ONE of those three games and finish 10-2 which is how I voted in the poll.

Miami beat themselves against UVA and that ruined an otherwise decent season.

Posted by: SOUP | November 16, 2010 at 08:18 PM

Sooo, the 8%ers were right, the 12%ers were wrong.

This is a very important fact Sebastian!

WGT, "Cheeburger Cheeburger Cheeburger", "OUR TOP STORY TONIGHT!", Star Trek, "Spud", "Mr Bill", "I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not.", "I'm just a dolphin, ma'am". All good stuff.

Ungar......my favorite was the following response from Chevy Chase when he was running for president in a skit

"I was told there would be no math".....

skool, six, thanks

I am investigating the set up a little more.
I know a couple drag racers in Florida that made some commercials with one of those hooked to the side of their race car.

I think if I use it I will have a short tether hooked on.
You saw my luck with cameras and water in person.

Uncle Luke visits Jacory's doctor,
or how it all went down

would you shoot that Uncle Luke link up on your pals at the 7th Floor for me, if you get time later, thanks!

That's not Luke, that's the late Jam Master Jay...

I have wondered this for awhile but never said anything about it because fans like to judge what they see on the field only

Maybe im over sensitive to the concussion situation because of what it has caused me now but it has made me look at #12 even before the big hit he suffered

He went from a kid that would make a mistake and say ok guys, my bad and ill make up for it next time to a guy that would stand off by himself on the sidelines looking totally lost. Issues I went through.

Im in no way saying that anyone that has what I had is going to go through what I have gone through or has even had a concussion but what I am saying is that I have seen a few signs before that hit that had me wondering if anytime before even this year he had suffered one or maybe a few.

I dont know #12 off the field so I can only judge what I see at the games and when im at them and I see on the sidelines and I find it odd that he goes from the man that is the center of the team to a guy that is quick to distance himself and be alone

Even reading some of his close friends from MNW dont seem to have that contact they once did with #12 like they did last year

Good plays or bad plays this year #12 just isnt the same #12 as I remember him being

Old Skool

I would second that notion. Make sure you are on the widest setting on the zoom. The more you zoom in the more unsteady the image will seem.

For you Canespace newbies. here's a classic that came up this morning

Congresswoman Corrine Brown speech to Congress congratulating the Florida Gata on winning a national title

She earned a master's degree in 1971 and an educational specialist degree from the University of Florida in 1974.

We have to contain Tyrod and not let him roam all over the field. We need to cut the head off and they will fall. Canes 23-17.

Thats going to be key. They have to make TT throw. He starts running up and down the Canes will loose.

BahamaCane, 8-)

Old Skool - I remember the first time I saw that Corrine Brown speech last year and I couldn't get enough of it, I had to save it to my Favorites on YouTube

I say a lot of the stuff she says in there up at work when talking to Gata fans about their team and Tim TiVo, Corch Irvin Meyers, or how Percy Harvey is doing with the Vikings

How their da-fence looked years better than their a fense this ear

This is one of my favorite lines from her:

"It is malice the most pressah he was undah"

The hell does that even mean?

Also from the SunSentinel:

CORAL GABLES — Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon said Wednesday that Jacory Harris has not been cleared by the team’s medical staff to play, but reiterated that Harris will be the starting QB whenever he returns from his concussion.

Asked on the weekly ACC conference call if the junior Harris would still be the guy over true freshman Stephen Morris, Shannon said, “Yeah, if he was healthy. But Jacory’s not healthy right now.

“We don’t worry about those things right now. Stephen Morris is our quarterback and he’ll play in this game against Virginia Tech. That’s the way we see it. Until our medical staff fully clears Jacory, Stephen will always be our quarterback.”

Harris was evaluated by a neurologist on Tuesday as he has been once a week.

Wearing full pads, a helmet, and most notably, a green, non-contact jersey, he practiced later in the afternoon for the first time since sustaining the concussion — his first ever — on Oct. 30 at Virginia. Harris threw passes in individual drills and then took snaps with the second team during team drills.

Harris threw some passes during individual drills last Wednesday, but did not have on pads or a helmet, just his jersey and black mesh shorts.

Morris will make his third consecutive start Saturday. He had not taken a snap this season until the opening drive of the second half at Virginia and was listed as fourth-string. Redshirt junior Spencer Whipple, son of offensive coordinator Mark Whipple, will back up Morris.

True sophomore A.J. Highsmith was UM’s No. 2 quarterback until Shannon announced days before the Duke game Oct. 16 that Highsmith had a wrist injury. He was dressed in uniform on the sideline at Virginia with a brace on his left wrist. Shannon said he could have been used in an emergency situation.

Highsmith’s father, former UM running back Alonzo Highsmith, told WQAM-560 that A.J. has a chipped bone in his wrist. Despite that, UM players said Highsmith ran the option on scout team effectively last week to prepare them for Georgia Tech’s triple option offense

Old Skool

Sorry, I can't explain what it means. I didn't graduate from FU.

Also, send me contact information on how to reach you (jbwilliams2007@yahoo.com), I should be in Tampa next week for a day or two. If you're interested in shooting for a sports reality show, we'll meet and I'll fill you in.

The deal hasn't closed yet, but it should in a day or two.

Old Skool

Thanks for the info. It's funny how the media had to ask Alonzo's dad to find out the son had a chipped bone in his wrist. If it was up to Shannon, all we'd know is that Alonzo has a problem with an upper extremity which could be anything from a hangnail to a compound fracture.

Virginia Tech is in town.

The weather will be fine.
The cleats will be fine.
Morris will be fine.

SOOOOO, I had BETTER not hear any excuses if we lose this game. We are a better team than JMU, we should win this game.

Last year's team was not 24 points worse than VT, so don't use that against them. Time to nuke VT, make them so disoriented that UVA gets a freebie against them.

Sebastian57 - no problem man, like I said, if I can help in any way I'd like to try. Whether it's me going down there to Bayfront and helping any way possible with the kids or possibly just talking about it on the radio

Since I do a MMA show with the XFC, where guys are hitting each other a lot in the ring, that might make it more interesting

I remember seeing an interview with the head of UFC, Dana White and one of his fighters, Rich Franklin, on Bill O'Reilly's show

O'Reilly was trying to make the sport come off as human cock-fighting, asking if they were going to bring lions into the ring to fight humans as well b/c it seemed like MMA is nothing but gladiator sport like in the Roman Empire days

I really didn't know what O'Reilly was getting at by saying those things. Then he mentioned the Parkinson's that the great Muhammad Ali has and how he said he got it from boxing, and O'Reilly tried to say that MMA is even more brutal than boxing

The whole point of the interview was kind of a waste of time. O'Reilly had his agenda to no matter what, make the sport look as bad as possible .... even though in boxing, 2 guys stand toe to toe with each other and just try and pound each others faces/heads in for how many rounds. In MMA, there are a ton of rules/regulations of what you can and can't do and the majority of the fights aren't stand up brawls - a lot of them go to the ground and end with guys tapping out from submission ..... that's why a huge majority of guys in MMA are former collegiate wrestlers or are trained in jiu-jitsu, and they try to take the fight to the ground - and if they do try and stand to go toe-to-toe, even that doesn't last that long b/c usually one of the guys uses kicks to weaken the leg of the other guy so he can take the fight to the ground

I'll ask the President/CEO of the XFC, who does the show with me, about the idea

I guarantee that the other guy I do the show with, who is not only a New York Golden Gloves boxing champ, but a black belt in jiu-jitsu, will agree that boxing is worse than MMA

I'll tell you what's funny, is how much the Senate Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid (D) from Nevada (70 years old) loves MMA ... and he was a former boxer back when he was young ... he's been trying to get MMA sanctioned in New York for the longest time

Playa..The Blogger Formerly Known as Rashad

LOL@Old Skool...No prob man..

Old Skool - definitely. I'll shoot you an email with my info and what my work schedule is

That Corrine Brown clip just cracked me up....

Happy Wednesday, canes fans! Forgot to mention that I saw Moncur and Bibla play again on Saturday for the local UFL franchise. I saw about five of their games, Bibla wasn't penalized in any nor beat very often in pass coverage. They had no RB's so it's hard to assess run coverage. Moncur was a pass rushing specialist, mroe or less. He's fast and had at least 3 sacks in the last two home games. He played well enough to get a shot at the NFL next year.

CaneSpace: The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Miami Hurricanes. It's continuing mission: To explore strange new stadiums... To seek out new teams, and beat them... To Boldly Go Where No 4th String QB Has Gone Before.

Saturday's Episode: Beamer Me Up Scotty!

Bad Bart

Earlier this year, Boise State beat Va Tech twice....Let's beat them twice and then knock FSU back down to size in Charlotte!!

"He's concussed, Jim."
"I'm a doctor, not a recruiter!"

"Calling a timeout in this situation is not logical, captain."

\\// "Run the ball and prosper."

"There's Hokies on the starboard bow, captain!"

"Keptin, the offensive line is at 20%, ve cannot fire the ball deep"

"Mr. Shannon! The play-action crystals are overloading, the team she canna tae another interception!"

(I know, 50%)

Just watched the replay of the GT game on espn3. O Franklin is funny as hell. If you watch every play #74 is getting out of his stance a half a count after everyone else. He is making sure he does not jump offsides!
Listened to the Tampa Bay Bucs coach on WQAM, never heard of him but he had me fired up! Wish Randy spoke like him!!!

Old Skool

Screw the 50%. Ungar that's a unique take on Star Trek. I like it

Know Thy Enemy Double Feature:

Bud Foster's Pressure Defense explained, and a chance to see Heather Dinich talk.

If I had solar's talents and free time, I would put the entire braintrust of the Canes in the in one of those videos.

Kirk: Shannon
Spock: Young (gotta put him somewhere)
Scotty: Whipple (of course)
McCoy: Hill
Uhura: Shalala (typecast by that XX chomosome)
Sulu: Harris (all that calm samurai demeanor)
Checkov: Morris (The young one.)

TJL - Raheem is great ... you should hear him in press conferences, he has the room cracking up one second and ready to go to play in a frenzy for him the next second

He does impersonations of Aqib Talib for the Bucs that are hilarious, sounds just like him

Raheem also speaks faster than any human at times that I can recall, but he speaks very clearly and fast, not like some auctioneer

Check out the end of my video of the East/West Shrine practice when he talks for about 30 seconds, he was speaking slow in it compared to how he usually speaks

Old Skool

Just tell me this. Is Heather easier to listen to than Susan Degnan?

If not, I'd rather clip my toenails or listen to Mormon Tabernacle Choir as hundreds of 18 inch steel needles are inserted in their eyes. (Now there's an obscure SNL reference)

Feral Cat

I really don't know, I have the videos on mute here at w.o.r.k. Never heard either of them...
