Soup, I honestly was thinking of some others, but since you mentioned it, that shoe fits pretty well.

Interesting that Shannon lets a freshman QB speak to the press and not Jacory

Posted by: Old Skool | November 03, 2010 at 07:11 PM

i was thinking the same thing too!

Dont know what to think of this current team..coaching staff...character. why would Randy play Whipple Jr. When obviously Morris is more prepared? Whipple SR. Recruited Morris. Cane radio is on melt down..shalala made it known what her expectations are...does Kirby have balls to say something? We lose Shannon as a coach would that f our recruiting? There needs to be change but its kinda like if u plug a leak another leak happens...I hate the fact that fsu and ufelons are going 2 gain ground on us on many aspects.. while this clusterfcuk needs to be fixed....

Maybe those smoothie drinks would help me. I need to lose 15 pounds and my joints hurt horribly. The spine surgery was a success but all of you know the rest. 86, please get the recipe and e-mail it to me.It might help with the shakes and stuttering too.
I don't want to talk about the team. None of us know what really is going on, but we all know when something is terrible wrong. I sure would love a winning team before I croak. It sure isn't the players fault. Just think how they must feel. Enough of that.

Old Skool

Here's your cool video of the night. Actually, cool is an understatement. Awesome or breathtaking would be more apt.

Take a ride on a U-2

You can see why the U-2 is considered the most difficult plane in the world to fly. Each pilot has a co-pilot, who chases the plane on the runway in a sports car. The chase cars talk the pilot down as he lands on bicycle-style landing gear.

In that spacesuit, the pilot in the plane simply cannot get a good view of the runway.
Upon takeoff, the wings on this plane, which extend 103 feet from tip to tip, literally flap.
To stabilize the wings on the runway, two pogo sticks on wheels prop up the ends of the wings.
As the plane flies away, the pogo sticks drop off.
The plane climbs at an amazing rate of nearly 10,000 feet a minute.

Within about four minutes, you're at 40,000 feet, higher than any commercial airplane. Then you keep going up to 13 miles above Earth's surface.

You get an incredible sensation up there. As you look out the windows,it feels like you're floating, it feels like you're not moving, but you're actually going 500 mph.

The U-2 was built to go higher than any other aircraft. In fact today, more than 50 years since it went into production, the U-2 flies higher than any aircraft in the world with the exception of the space shuttle.
It is flying more missions and longer missions than ever before -nearly 70 missions a month over Iraq and Afghanistan, an operational tempo that is unequaled in history.

The pilots fly for 11 hours at a time, sometimes more than 11 hours up there alone.
By flying so high, the U-2 has the capability of doing reconnaissance
over a country without actually violating its airspace.
It can look off to the side, peering 300 miles or more inside acountry without actually flying over it.
It can "see" in the dark and through clouds.
It can also "hear," intercepting conversations 14 miles below.

Enjoy the ride!

Solar's smoothies are good. From a health standpoint, they beat the hell out of eggs and bacon, cocoa puffs or bagel with a smear.

your pics are awesome I love them!!

I know what you are going through, it makes everyday uncomfortable.

My knuckles were so swollen and stiff I couldn't get my wedding band or ring off to paint or do masonry work.
My ankles used to ache so much I couldn't sleep.

I began eating healthy, smaller portions and not taking second helpings a year ago.
My weight went down but my arthritis still ached all the time.

Six months ago after reading a lot of articles on joint pain, discomfort, and even early signs of muscular dystrophy I started using a vegetable and fruit emulsifying machine ( you toss the complete fruit or vegetable in with the skin on except bananas , and you cut the pits out of peaches etc.

Well now not only can I get my wedding band on and off I have to be careful when I'm out that it doesn't slip off my finger.

1 banana, peeled
1 half peach, or nectarine,or pear with skin on.
1 small handful of baby spinach ( you don't taste it at all)
6 strawberries or 1/4 cup frozen berries
2 tablespoons of low fat yogurt, vanilla or strawberry
1/2 cup soy or almond milk
4 or five ice cubes
emulsify til thick and creamy and your good.

I hope you find relief however you go about it.

canes bb giving us something to talk about...

canes dominate barry university tonight 102-33...yes people a 69pt win...

Wow Slingblade that is awesome but I am cautiously optimistic.

Skool...just watched the video. It was awesome!

Native...great photos once again.

BTW...the meltdown is now complete. Even the AllCanes blog has gone completely negative and is alternating between questioning and lecturing Shannon.

First of all Jacory needs to go away and lets let Morris run the show for right now. Next year lets bring in a big 6'4 type quarterback who run and throw. Anybody think we would be 5-3 with Cam Newton? After watching the Virginia game two times I have come to the realization that I am honestly more content with Morris in the pocket than Jacory. At least with Morris he knows when to run the ball and not just stand there like a deer in the headlights. Also fire the special teams coach pronto!

Good points Elliot...

big daddy's

Miami quarterback Stephen Morris spoke to the media Wednesday after coach Randy Shannon decided to give him the one opportunity -- his limit was five minutes -- before his first career start Saturday against Maryland.

He seemed pleased to do so.

``I'm really excited to get this opportunity to start,'' said Morris, a true freshman who played the second half of UM's 24-19 loss at Virginia and led the Canes to all 19 points. ``The coach put his confidence in me. He had a lot of trust in me to run the offense. I'm not going to do anything heroic. I'm just going to go out there and give the playmakers the ball and see what they can do with it.''

Brandon Harris

Junior cornerback Brandon Harris was named Wednesday as one of 10 national semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award. He is the only student-athlete from the Atlantic Coast Conference to be named a semifinalist.

Morris was surprisingly composed at Virginia, throwing two touchdowns and rushing for another after a pair of interceptions. Of his poise Saturday, he noted, "I learned all that from Jacory. Jacory is the calmest cat I've ever seen. I just try to mimic him in all the ways possible.

"[Offensive coordinator Mark Whipple] has helped me a lot to understand where the ball needs to be," Morris said. "Yeah, I have a strong arm, but a strong arm isn't going to get it done all the time. You've got to have a lot of brains out there."

Lamar Miller said Morris has been "on point with his plays" in practice this week, and has had "good connection with the receivers." As it is for Morris, Saturday's game is an opportunity for Miller, the team's second-leading rusher with 252 yards and two touchdowns on 46 carries, to showcase his skills. Miller got five of his six carries at Virginia in the fourth quarter in place of Berry.

Gooden remembers asking Miami's compliance department "a million questions" when her stepson, Tavares Gooden, started dealing with agents as a top pro prospect in 2007.

And after Tavares was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, she heard from other NFL moms about the difficult process many of them went through in finding an agent while trying to adhere to NCAA rules.

So after talking to her husband, Robin Gooden holed up in her house for two weeks writing down her thoughts, drawing up plans and researching how to start a non-profit organization. At the end, she decided to form MOCA — Mothers of College Athletes — a grass-roots endeavor with a mission to "help college athletic programs adhere to NCAA standards by advising parents of student athletes."

Miami had five players score double digits, DeQuan Jones finishing with 16 points and freshman Rion Brown also had 16. Malcolm Grant and Reggie Johnson followed. Grant had 15 points and Johnson came up with 13 and six rebounds.

Stephen Morris interview word for word

Interesting Fact: Maryland has not had a punt blocked in 132 straight games, but over that time span they have blocked 16 of the opposition's, including four on the season (two vs. Wake Forest, 10/30; two vs. Morgan State, 9/11).

This says it all...

Question 4 to Morris
How much did the two quarters prepare you for what’s to come in your first start?

“It helped me a lot. It helped me understand game speed. It’s a lot faster than practice speed. But at the same time it helped me realize I just need to practice harder, to learn my plays. It made me realize everything is not like practice. They’ll come out there, and they’re coming full speed for you.”

This squad should be practicing at full speed with their capabilities. That explains why they come out looking like they are stepping in molasses. Like the canes pf past we should be practicing harder so game time is easy.

DC for Maryland, Don Brown(sp?), was a coach for Whipple when he was at UMass. So, Whipple should surprise Maryland by RUNNING THE BALL. They will never expect it.

GT has a big game 2nihgt. I hope they pull it out!

canesteeler - glad you are ok. Diet and exercise, nothing else really replaces that

Solar - LOL glad to know I am not the only one having soy milk, spinach, banana and protein smoothies in the morning.

Soup I saw the vids had been posted after I posted them - I missed the blog a day or two - busy here, gotta work sometime - LOL

It truly amazes me how people have turned on RS so quickly. Dude really had no margin of error after all!

all anyone needs to do is take a look at the shape you keep yourself in, and your always positive attitude to understand how much a good diet and exercise can be in a person's life.
I feel better physically now now that I did five years ago

Massiv..I could be wrong..but prior to this week, wasn't Morris taking most snaps with the scout team? Perhaps that is what he means. I cant see RS letting this kids slack and not go hard or "fly around" in practice.

I think the scout team qb gets a pretty good pounding from the 1s defense each week.
I doubt they sack him but I be Morris has been shoved on his ass enough to know when to roll out and get rid of the ball.

$$ spent

solar...what im sayin is in regards to Morris' comments aboout having to catch up to the speed of the game. I think its because he was on scout team, NOT because our practices are not hard..imo

Maybe our practices need to be slower so the kids stop "flying around" past their gap and lane assignments and learn some friggin discipline.

Beer..I can agree with that lol..I have kids that play with my son on the 5/6yo team..and they dont even overrun a ball carrier..they break down lol

TJL, nice article.

Top 4 spenders, only one didnt get to the title game in the past four years.

Clemson spent less than us, brought in more money than us. Must be nice to have fans loyal to the team even when they have 4 losses....

orange 'n green in the vein

Wait, the little brothers are having a field day at OUR expense? WTF? Have they watched their programs play this month? Meanwhile a true freshman scout team backup almost pulls off a huge 4th quarter comeback in his first game action and we should be ashamed? What ever happened to some perspective when you're chasing the best? That's right, inbred fan-bases lack perspective due to bad breeding. So do fair-weather ones too I suppose

Ungar - but that is south Florida sports in general. Actually not only South Florida. U can get really cheap Carolina Panthers tickets these days - lower bowl has been fairly empty

and bTW who is the little boy in the photo? He is just too cute!

aight here is Donna giving Randy the ultimatum

I just finished this one up an hour ago

link that last youtube vid to your friends on the 7th floor for me sometime ok?

i'm out for a few

CG, not sure if you were talking to me, but what little boy?

Get your A&% out on that field and channel some Jimmy Johnson!!!

I love listening to Alonzo Highsmith! Why doesn't RS channel some of that fire from back in his day? Man he pumps me up!

The fuze is set and the timer is ticking...Lamar Miller is about to explode.

Tough D to go up against to explode. But we will see. I have a funny feeling that this thing will be put on Morris, though I would love to see the backs come out and set the tone.

Sparky Anderson RIP
God waved him in.
So he rounded third and went home.

In other news ...

Dallas, TX (AP) - A seven year old boy was at the center of a Dallas County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree reasonably possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Dallas Cowboys professional football team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Met Ocalacane and Ms. Ocalacane while at the FL State Golf Finals yesterday. REALLY sweet Coffee Roasting Store & Restaurant they're about to open.

If you're ever in Ocala, you've got to check it out.

Let's Go Canes!

I will be the biggest GT fan tonight!!
