SlingBlade

did i get a first?

NativeCane

Golden!!!

SlingBlade

now does he bring his current staff with him?
or does he start fresh?
or does he keep some current coaches in place and fill out the rest with his current staff?

Drtycane

golden shower on the turds in 2013

SlingBlade

when does he start coaching?
right now and coaches the bowl game?
or does he start in the spring?
my guess is he starts now, but concentrates on recruiting instead of the daily coaching duties...and allows stoutland and the other coaches audition for him...

AlpharettaCane

Disgruntled - well stated.

DisgruntledCanesFan

1. Who on the current staff stays?
PETRI, STOUTLAND, and CASSANO.

AlpharettaCane

^^^^^^^^^^^^

I meant good post, Disgruntled Cane.

(Not disgruntled over Golden hire. Just not a Gruden jolt of electricity).

Drtycane

bring in a leach and a leavitt, and keep stoutland to recruit s. fla....

UpNorthCane27

Im with it man if golden is the boss now in my eyes hes the best coach in college football .....

I just want to see some real progress n playmaking on the field, off the field and also the w's man..... What defense will run? Whos staying whos going aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh i need to know fast you can only be great if you have great assistants

Is anyone scared that the negative of the hire is that coker effect recruiting outside of southflorida which tool randy years to rebuild

AlpharettaCane

I think at his first practice Golden goes in and makes the ND bowl game the first of many auditions.

Now we'll see people flying around having fun.

Drtycane

< is happy with no Trestman aka Cam Cameron aka Hashmarkmoron

I read somewhere that he's coaching the bowl game... can't remember exactly where though since I've read a ton of articles in the past hour. Although Temple was bowl-eligible, they didn't get picked to play in a bowl, so Golden is free to come down and get started on coaching and recruiting.

Thanks! GO CANES!!!

SlingBlade

which recruit does he call first?

Drtycane

@slingblade

O'Leary from Dwyer HS...
I heard he though RS was an A-Hole...and would NEVER play for him

The Dude

Its not final yet right? I mean is it 99% done? Just waiting on some last minute salary stuff?

AlpharettaCane

I think we're set at linebacker - Golden and D'Nofrio have a ton of experience with them.

Remember D'Nofrio being at Penn State and being a monster, as all their LBs are.

OK, see Golden also has some ST experience as well.

Wonder how he is with QBs? I think he needs a high-powered OC..again, hope Whipple stays...

pb

It's final. We sent out a press release already.

I'm really happy with this hire.

University issued a press release and set up a website for him http://hurricanesports.cstv.com/coaching/

I'd say that makes it pretty final.

AlpharettaCane

miamicane: waiting on your new Avatar...as you can see, my life isn't all that exciting

YUP!

toledocane

What type of offense does he run???

AlpharettaCane

His D-line guy has a great name (Jethro), lots of experience, both college and Pro, doesn't seem to stick around long at any one place.

Drtycane

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1flUhRjdUKc

Miller, Storm, James...may see the Wildcat next yr

AlpharettaCane

Toledo - think I saw a YouTube video where they were running a read-option kindof deal (?); seems to have more expertise on the D side of the ball.

Needs a really stout offensive coordinator - JMO.

Who would've thought Bowden/Myer/Shannon would've turned into Fisher/Muschamp/Golden a couple of years ago?

SlingBlade

i doubt his first recruit house call is to a TE...

Drtycane

@slingblade

Farmer from Cali or Perryman from the 305??

Jersey_Cane

I like the hire. Remember JJ and Erickson had also taken relatively weak programs and turned them around to make names for themselves. Let's see what he can do with this talent. Go Canes!!!

SlingBlade

you dont think he calls a current commit to reassure them that they made the right decision?

SlingBlade

or does he call Bridgewater?

LA3

Lets keep open mind....He guy has alot of people with Football knowledge says good things about him and he was looked at for a ton of other jobs. His staff or who he surrounds himself with will tell the story.
But, he team plays defense! They beat Villona which just beat App St. They played Penn St tuff - 22-13 lose. They lost to N. Ill 31-17 and their coach just went to Minn.
I think it is encouraging hire....And he seem intense with some intense asst. coaches. I think is will have the team ready to play! VERY READY to play! And that will be plus! Let give the guy some luv and try to help build for the future!

Hurri

Well, Golden doesn't get me off, but I've got his back, just like I had Randy's, till the end.

Can we now start the OC request lists?

fmcane

Love the hire look for some more st. Thomas boys at the U coach gazillo on staff is a former penn state lb and grad ass't.

It will be interesting to see who he brings in

ARCane

I hope his first call is to B. Harris to convince him to stay.

Drtycane

Jagz for OC

Ohio_Cane

I know nothing about this guy, but I will support him thru the thick and thin!

CANES!

MDCane

As I said before, we don't need a big name coach. I know Petersen would have been a popular hire. Remember, Dirk Kotter had Boise St flying high went to ASU got fired. Dan Hawkins replace Dirk, had Boise St flying high went to Colorado got fired. Petersen replaced Hawkins, lesson learned.

WGT22

Soup ... Golden is a very very good hire.

Christ V. would agree

start buying some ties ...

WGT22

What type of offense does he run???

Posted by: toledocane | December 12, 2010 at 09:26 PM

a few more than the other team

W

Drtycane

Canespace ties...im liking it!
or maybe Canespace T's with the tie on the front

DisgruntledCanesFan

I think he keeps his current DC, Mark D'Onofrio, who was Golden's teammate at Penn State and has coached with Golden since his days at UVA.

He maybe even keeps his current OC, Matt Rhule, another Penn State alumnus.

BTW, for those saying our facilities were an issue when recruiting HCs, I'm sure Golden and his Temple crew will LOVE the Miami facilities and South Florida in general.

It's all about perspective.

solarcane

In 2004, Golden oversaw a defense that featured the nation's best group of linebackers, according to Athlon, The Sporting News, and ESPN The Magazine. Under his guidance, Ahmad Brooks blossomed into a finalist for the Butkus Award.

He'll definitely motivate the players but the transitional period as we switch to the 3-4 is guaranteed to hurt us in the short run.

Sebastian

Welcome to the `Cane Family Coach Golden

You will not regret for 1 second that you came to this great school

Line up the coaches you need and lets get this rolling early

Lets Go `Canes

LA3

I agree but did he play 3-4 because lack of d-line talent? Temple did have DT with 9.5 sacks! And I only saw to FL players on the roster. Once he sees the talent he has here...WOW! He may adjust and do some really cool things. Made cover the TE down the middle?!!!!
