Deven Hester's favorite new song

The guy doing this can sing.

See you guys Sunday PM late, have a great weekend.

Old Skool - ya, like hawaiicane said, Dwayne Johnson's momma is Samoan, but his dad, Rocky Johnson, is black

They actually lived in Tampa for a while, when The Rock was up in Canada, trying to play for the Calgary team that had Doug Flutie

He went to school all over, a little in Hawai'i when he was in high school, but his family moved to PA when he was in 10th grade and started playing football there

Do we call The Rock Samoan? or do we recognize him kind of like Tiger, being "Cablinasian"

Reading the tweets of some Canes players...
Funny how to see how some guys are immature and not focused on football like Jacory Harris...On the opposite it's refreshing to see the winning attitude of Phillip Dorsett...His latest tweets...

Phillip Dorsett
So hungry to get to the top!

still SMH on Dorsett's loss of a star...LoL...can it get more BLATENT than that??? Guess the Rivals had to find some kinda way from us climbing up the recruiting board cz we're def heating up !!!

Here's to him having a better career than Greene. Go Canes...

PS - Stay home Chik, blood's thicker than water...

if you hate brett favre this is hilarious

A great QB is a top priority!!!!!!!

Ice Harris = waste of space
Brandon Harris = over rated

Good Riddance!

It's tough for me to say anything bad about B Harris. The kid left it all on the field every game. As for Ice Harris, I don't know enough to say he's a waste of space. Maybe you have more info than I do.

Arthur Frances Kehoe

The man who never stopped loving the Miami Hurricanes might be coming home.

Arthur Francis Kehoe III , a member of the UM Sports Hall of Fame and the only man to earn all five UM national-championship rings as a coach, was interviewed in Greenwood, Miss., on Thursday by coach Al Golden for the vacant offensive line job, according to a source close to UM.

Former Hurricanes defensive back Hurlie Brown, who played on two national championship teams in 1989 and 1991, was hired Thursday as a special assistant at the University of Miami.

Brown coached the secondary at FIU from from 2001 through the 2006 season and spent the last few years at Louisiana-Lafayette coaching defensive backs there.

Brown replaces Tim "Ice" Harris Sr., the father of former Hurricanes cornerback Brandon Harris, who spent three years as a special assistant to former coach Randy Shannon. Harris Sr. left the program earlier this week according to UM and will likely be named the head coach at Miami Booker T. Washington High as early as next Monday.

Thomas Finnie

Miami Central CB Thomas Finnie officially became the first member of the Hurricanes’ 2011 class on Thursday as he enrolled early at Miami.
UM confirmed Finnie’s enrollment.
Finnie had been waiting for issues with his high school transcripts to be resolved before starting classes at UM. As of now, no other recruit orally committed to the ‘Canes has enrolled. Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy’s Olsen Pierre plans to enroll early, but has been delayed because of issues with his transcripts.
— In other news, former ‘Canes DL coach Rick Petri was named Duke’s DL coach on Thursday. Petri was on Randy Shannon’s staff this past season and also coached UM’s DL from 1993-95. He was not retained by new UM coach Al Golden.

Art Kehoe

Former University of Miami offensive line coach Art Kehoe may be heading back to the school.

The only person to earn each of the Hurricanes' five national championship rings, Kehoe spent several hours on Thursday speaking to UM coach Al Golden about the team's vacant position of offensive line coach, according to a source close to Kehoe.

The two men met in Mississippi, where Kehoe now lives. Golden flew on a private plane provided by a UM booster to meet with Kehoe.

Kehoe, 52, played under Howard Schnellenberger at Miami, then spent 25 seasons as a member of the Hurricanes' coaching staff before he and three other assistants were fired two days after UM's 40-3 loss to LSU in the 2005 Peach Bowl.

This is what goes on in Gainesville and Tallahassee in the off season:

Go Canes!!!

UM commit LB Nick Menocal will not visit this weekend as planned. It is uncertain at this time if he will re-schedule. This situation is something to pay close attention in the next two weeks.

CB Rashad Wadood, another California prospect, was expected to visit this weekend and was very high on UM. However, he will not visit as it looks like UM is uncertain whether or not they will continue to pursue him to be a part of this class.

The Nick Menocal non-visit is not a big deal, he lives just down the street, so it would be like visiting his high school.

He is all Cane.

RE: The homeless guy that won the ESPN Fantasy league.

"For his winning effort, Harrington won a $3,500 Best Buy gift card."

I guess worked out to about five dollars an hour. 17 weeks, 10 hours per week on it, at LEAST, not to mention time watching, reading about, and discussing the games with other homeless guys, at maybe 40 more hours per week, 50 * 17 = 650. Round it to 700 hours for the cost of time waiting at libraries, checking his standings, listening to his girlfriend complain about the waste of time, etc.

That's like the guy that plays the scratch off daily for a year (-365 dollars), and then brags about winning 200 bucks on one card.

I tried like heck to work a quick lunch in with you but Cheryl is doing the logistics and she said I have .5 minute to pee once both ways and that was my allotted free time.

You should receive a package in a day or two.

Just wondering, did Chikillo move to 5 stars because he is being courted by the Gators, or because he dominated the Underarmour game.

I can get with the refs hating the Canes, but the idea that they would shave stars off Canes still is beyond me.

I mean, what is the benefit? if you lose to us with our shaved stars, then your team looks worse. better to inflate our commits, and then make our coaches look incompetent. You know, like they did to Coker with all his "five star" talent.

Old Skool

There's very little for Canesport to say.
The Canes are interested so Golden met with the tight end Barnett. They talked. They noshed.
His mom served kugel and rugelach.

An appeals court has thrown out former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach's breach of contract claim against the school over his 2009 firing.

The ruling released Friday allows Leach to try to prove that the university's reasons for firing him were false, but without monetary relief.

The 7th Court of Appeals upheld Tech's sovereign immunity claim.

Leach's attorney plans to appeal the breach of contract claim to the Texas Supreme Court.

A Texas Tech attorney did not immediately comment Friday.

Texas Tech fired Leach on Dec. 30, 2009, two days after suspending him amid allegations he mistreated Adam James, a receiver with a concussion.

LSU coach Les Miles hired former Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe as his new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Thursday.

The 45-year-old Kragthorpe, who interviewed with Miles earlier this week, will replace Gary Crowton, who left the program last week to become Maryland's offensive coordinator.

"This is a great opportunity to join the coaching staff for one of the top programs in college football and to compete in a league as strong and competitive as the SEC," Kragthorpe said.

Miles is hoping the arrival of Kragthorpe will boost the Tigers' quarterback play in particular. The Tigers were 11-2 last season despite ranking 86th in total offense and 107th in passing.

Kragthorpe, a former Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach earlier this decade, was 44-43 in seven seasons as coach at Tulsa and Louisville after leaving the NFL.

Old news but some more details:

University of Miami Senior Football Operations Coordinator Tim "Ice" Harris, Sr. will be leaving the program to return to Booker T. Washington High School as the head football coach. Harris previously held the same position at BTW from 2003-07, compiling a 57-7 record and guiding the Tornadoes to the 2007 Florida Class-4A state title.

For the past three seasons, Harris has been in charge of coordinating the team's community relations projects, which have grown since he took over the position. Harris also assisted in other day-to-day operations with the team.

Harris has strong ties to the UM athletics family. His older son, Tim Jr., was an All-American and ACC Champion on the Miami track team. His younger son, Brandon, was an All-American cornerback for the football team. Tim Jr. is currently the Offensive Coordinator at BTW and will stay in that role under his father.

More old news, more details:

The University of Miami and head football coach Al Golden welcome back former Hurricane Hurlie Brown as the senior football operations coordinator. Brown replaces Tim “Ice” Harris, Sr., who stepped down to return to coaching at Miami’s Booker T. Washington High School.

Brown, a standout safety for the Hurricanes from 1988-91, now returns to where his coaching career began. After winning two national titles under Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson, Brown began his professional career as a graduate assistant under Erickson for the 1992 season.

Brown comes back to Miami to join Golden’s staff from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Brown served as the Ragin’ Cajuns’ secondary coach since 2008 after spending the 2007 season working exclusively with the cornerbacks. He joined Rickey Bustle’s ULL staff after serving as defensive backs coach at Florida International from 2001 through the 2006 season.

BTW DT E. Watsonis on da fence with UF & #Miami. He likes #UM a lot, also hearing that its going 2 B "Arty Kehoe" "Arty Kehoe" "Arty Kehoe"

It don't matter who Miles hires at anything. It's the leprechaun he's got tied up in his closet that poops 4 leaf clovers that's winning those games.

i forgot kehoe coached michael oher

Why do we need to give a full bio of every maybe coach or coach? I don't care what he did 25 years ago, just what he's done the last 5. I ain't mad, just sayin!
To more important things, like recruiting, Hopefully after this weekend some of the glaring holes that we have can be filled. As of right now we still have no TE, DT, MLB & QB. I don't know about you guys but it will be hard for us to pick up a good TE, this late. We already have a bunch of maybe and mights at TE right now. We need a difference maker at that position. I believe will end up with a good DT, Weather it's Watson or Gosha or someone else. If we don't get Perryman, we won't end up with a MLB, either. If we don't persuade Sousa to come on over to the Green side, then it's going to be Weatherford, how good he can be is a Question mark. I know we need a couple more DB's & WR's but how we fit our needs into 5 to 7 schollies, will take a rocket scientist to figure out, of course that's a good problem to have, I guess!

herb...the news is slow and blogging is even slower so I'm just trying to fill the void until Kehoe is announced as OL coach.

Oops, did I say that out loud? My bad...

lol, 86. Is the hire somewhat official now?

A little birdie flew up to Ohio and told me Kehoe would be announced by Monday...

No worries when it comes to recruiting

lol, 86. Is the hire somewhat official now?

Not yet, but it now seems inevitable by later today or Monday.

Speaking of Kehoe... Forgot he was on this teaser for the 30 for 30 movie.
