1st Round – #17 (OAK – Richard Seymour)
1st Round – #28
2nd Round – #33 (CAR – 2010 3rd Round)
2nd Round – #60
3rd Round – #74 (MIN – Randy Moss)
3rd Round – #92

Conditional Draft Pick – Round Unknown (KC – Jarrad Page)

DZ8

http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/19657/patriots-loaded-with-2011-draft-picks

Now this one says they have two picks in the firsy 4 rounds! It gets worse every time I look. I'm not going to look for awhile.

Herbieibis

With our speed I wouldn't mind us playing a gimmick offense. I'm sure Jaboney wouldn't mind either!

3rd Round – #92

This is what I could find for the Pats this year. Two picks in the first, second, third round? SMH.

Belichek takes that old Bum Phillips saying about Don Shula seriously, "he'll take his'n and beat yours. And he'll take yours'n and beat his." He's done it to Miami over the years with our "cast offs" (and I'm not talking Wes Welker, that was actually a good trade by Huiezenga.)

pac-12 now with more COLORADO AND UTAH! And worse uniforms, is never de jour, even in 2011. By the way mac, running an offense at a high rate of speed between plays isn't a system, it's a . . . gimmick! Kind of like the gimmick of a wing-T fullback who throws jump passes off of zone read action every snap from the shotgun. Wait, that kind of describes Chip, "Never played in a real big game I couldn't lose," Kelly's offense too now that I reread it too, doesn't it?

macjones,

Since when are we going to let a kid tell us when or if he's going to redshirt. We had Cooper, Berry, James & Miller, why would it be necessary, to waste both Johnson & Clemente freshmen year barely playing and even Hearns was a bigger question mark. He hurt his knee his SR. year.

Herbieibis

OGV,
Dan Morgan was in the 235-240 range, if you can remember that far back and the last 5 or 6 years doesn't include Morgan, I guess that's means you want to skip those years too, it we're going back to Morgan. Redshirting Bailey would of been an option since he rarely played except for special teams and since Auburns on your mind, why you jump on the station wagon before the tires blow out. Lastly Bailey should be hell of a pro player because that's what we specialize in getting players ready for the pros.

MassivCane

So something interesting, I was listening to Joe Rose archive and was listening to the Golden interview from last week and Joe asked him about the O-Line Coach and the offensive coordinator. The interesting thing he said is that the OC and O-Line coach are tied o the hip since they need to be on the same wave length. So I would assume someone from his past coaching stints anywhere from the Seahawks, to Denver, Baltimore. Who knows, if Al thinks that way I would assume that Kehoe is not even in the equation.

As for not wanting to remember 2004 and beyond, get a new team to cheer for then or take the good with the bad. Auburn is more popular than they've been in almost 60 years right now, that bandwagon's only got a limited NCAA shelf-life too so you might want to jump on that sooner rather than later when there's no wins left that weren't vacated to celebrate H.i. If you take that advice though, stock up on the single ply, it saves cash and comes off the tree easier on Monday.

You make no sense. When you want to make a cogent, well thought out point, please announce so at the start of your point and I'll start reading your posts in depth again, until then, you're on the skim and skip list of commentators for me.

Try to understand since you don't like thinking about things that happened before:

The UM roster was in shambles in '07 thanks to inadequate recruiting and roster management. We needed defensive front seven players en-masse (to answer your retorical weight/LB question: Dan Morgan was in that range and what position did he play? Or is that too far back for you to want to remember too?) and it wasn't possible to redshirt a bunch of players who under different circumstances absolutely would have sat out. As for playing end and tackle on the line, it's not a big deal and I doubt it had a hand in holding Bailey back at all, if anything it raizes his value since he can be a fast tackle or a power rush end depending on down and distance.

Yea, I think so too. I never put much thought into any mock draft that comes out before the combine. It can really cause your stock to rise (Darrius Heyward-Bey, Greg Olson, Vernon Davis) or fall (Troy Smith, Vince Young)

UMike

Tluv....im sure he will be. Most of these mock drafts are always wrong....those guys dont know what owners and GM' are thinking..and they havent even got the the combine yet

Herbieibis

OGV,
Would you want to remember the last 4 years or the last 6 for that matter. I already knew about the promise but whens the last time Miami had a 255 lb LB? Weather he should of honored the promise or not, the fact remains it was a waste of time. They should of reshirted him or started him out at DE.The next thing your going to tell me, it was a good move wasting Storm, Eduardo and Hearns, freshman years on special teams and playing sparingly. I mean we only had 6 or 7 Wr's ahead of Hearns and 4 upper class rbs ahead of Johnson & Clemente.

TLuv

If Bailey isn't a 1st round draft pick I'll be really surprised. Whoever drafts him in the 2nd round is getting an absolute steal. The guy was double teamed all the time and switched from DT to DE a lot. I think that shows his versatility, which imo, improves his stock. And yes, his numbers will be off the charts. I'm pretty sure he has the UM record for power clean (although not a combine test), which shows his explosiveness. I hope he's working out at a pre-draft camp as we speak where they teach you the ins and outs of each tests.

MassivCane

I was hoping that we could get an old salty navy seal or something that would really kick these kids butt. Enough play time, start acting like true D-1 players and work your tail off so when it is fourth quarter you can still push people around. If you don't want to grow up get out of the way for the kids that want to be here.

dj moonbat

OGV is right: Bailey only came to UM because they promised him they would give him a shot at LB. Then, after a year, they pointed out to him that he weighed nearly 300 pounds.

orange 'n green in the vein

Posted by: Herbieibis | January 19, 2011 at 02:29 PM

Get your facts straight, he spent a single year practicing at MLB because he extracted a promise from the staff to do so while he plied his trade on special teams, like most true freshman do on a football team that has a roster that has been properly managed for four years prior (which doesn't describe UM in '07 I'll remind you since you obviously have trouble remembering that far back).

Next your going to cry about Shields not getting the corner position until he had a whole two years trying to play there while only using one of his four at UM on it I bet.

Aside from the coaching, Bailey would of been better off learning one position instead of three while he was here. Wasted about 2 years trying to play LB at 260 lbs, of course that's Shannon's stupidity.

Baltimore RavensRecord: 12-4* Brandon Harris, CB, Miami
The Ravens ran into some really bad luck last year, when their first pick, Sergio Kindle, got hurt off the field. And among all their other picks, one spot they didn't hit was cornerback. Harris is a solid value at this stage, as he carries a late-first round grade. A coach's son, he offers prototype size at 5-11, 195 pounds, good instincts and isn't shy in run support. The Ravens need to address the secondary and Harris is a good option.

ESPN's Adam Schefter got Miami fans bent out of shape when he tweeted on Tuesday afternoon that newly hired offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch was on Pete Carroll's short list to replace Jeremy Bates. ESPN The Magazine's Bruce Feldman later tweeted: "Was just told by a source close to Jedd Fisch that he is '100% committed to being Univ. of Miami's offensive coordinator.'"

Well, it looks as if Fisch indeed will not be returning to Seattle. Schefter tweeted on Wednesday morning that Fisch will remain with the Hurricanes, and on the athletic department's official feed on Wednesday morning is this tweet: "If he gets all his paperwork done today, Miami OC Jedd Fisch will be on the recruiting trail as early as this evening." Speaking of Chick,I really don't know what the hold up is with him giving us the definite, I'm coming. If we do lure Sousa, which he too is a spread QB, Fisch will really be beneficial to him to teach him the nuiances of playing the pro-style. I don't think Rudduck will budge from Iowa. I'd like to see us get Savage, and hopefully next year go after a QB that is more suited for the Offense we run. It's also good to see us bringing in the farm this weekend. Hopefully are prayers will be answered, with the Cali boys. Is O'Leary planning on visiting? I know it he's been to FSU about a dozen times and yet he hasn't given them his verbal. ACC's Pro Bowl selections

Heather Dinich ESPN

Miami led all individual schools with nine of its former standouts playing in the Pro Bowl.

For the third straight year, the ACC leads all conferences in the number of former players selected from its current schools to play in the NFL's Pro Bowl, which will be held on Jan. 30 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii, and will be nationally televised by Fox.

The ACC had 19 former players selected to play in this year’s Pro Bowl. The SEC was second with 13 selections and the Pac-10 was third with 12. The Big Ten and the Big 12 had nine each.

The ACC also led all conferences in number of starting players named to the Pro Bowl, with 12 of its 19 selections projected as starters. The Big Ten was second with seven starters, followed by the Pac-10 (5), the SEC (4) and the Big East, Big 12, Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference with three starters each.

Miami led all individual schools with nine of its former standouts playing in the Pro Bowl. Tennessee was next with five followed by USC and California each with three selections. A total of 11 schools had two selections, including three ACC schools in NC State, Boston College and Virginia Tech. Four other ACC schools had one selection each including Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.

• Offense: At quarterback, UM is still trying to convince St. Thomas Aquinas’ Jake Rudock to switch from Iowa or Orlando-based Kevin Sousa to switch from Wake Forest. Rudock has been leaning toward Iowa but is still considering UM. Palm Beach Dwyer’s Jacoby Brissett plans to visit UM and South Carolina and will choose among those two, UF, Wisconsin and LSU, his mother said. Tom Savage, transferring from Rutgers, also remains a possibility.

Grooms, who committed Monday, will play running back initially but can also play cornerback. Daytona Beach running back Marlin Lane, rivals.com’s 55th-best player, said he is leaning toward Tennessee but is strongly considering UM.

UM has one receiver committed (St. Thomas Aquinas’ Phillip Dorsett) and hopes to land Dorsett’s teammate, Rashad Greene, who told canesport.com there’s a 40-percent chance he will switch from FSU to UM. Dorsett is ranked 27th among receivers, Greene 24th. Two California-based receivers are visiting UM this weekend: Marqise Lee (rivals.com’s 19th best player) and Patrick Onwuasor. Cris Carter’s son, Duron, likes UM but grades are an issue.

Ayles, eligible to play in 2011, was the No. 2 tight end out of high school but had injuries and just 14 career catches at USC. Among tight ends, UM is recruiting top prospect Nick O’Leary (FSU is the favorite), Fort Meade’s Brandon Fulse (No. 10 tight end) and New Jersey’s Ryan Malleck (a Maryland commitment). There’s one offensive lineman committed: tackle Taylor Gadbois.

• Defense: Crawford, rated the 23rd-best cornerback, has more experience at safety but could play either. After getting commitments from Crawford and Central cornerback Thomas Finnie (who is enrolling this week), UM also wants Byron Moore (the nation’s top junior-college corner; UM, Tennessee and Oregon State are finalists) and/or California-based Rashad Wadood (an Arizona State commitment considering UM). Moore and Wadood will visit UM this weekend. UM’s new staff cut ties with cornerback Jeremy Davis, an oral commitment under Shannon.

At linebacker, UM has oral commitments from Kinard, Belen’s Nick Menocal and Homestead’s Ricardo Williams, who had 18 sacks and expects to play a hybrid defensive end/linebacker role. UM covets Coral Gables’ Denzel Perryman, who said UM, UF and FSU are finalists, with no favorite

NFL U - Even if just hangin' in there...

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots have signed TE Carson Butler, QB Jonathan Crompton, WR Buddy Farnham, DL Marlon Favorite, WR Darnell Jenkins, CB Thad Turner and DB Ross Ventrone to future contracts. All seven players finished the 2010 season the New England practice squad.

Jenkins, 5-10, 191 pounds, was originally signed by Houston as a rookie agent out of Miami in 2008. He spent the majority of his rookie season on the Houston practice squad before being signed to the active roster for the final two games of the season. Jenkins was waived by Houston following training camp in 2009 and spent time on the practice squads of both Houston and Cleveland before joining the New England practice squad. Jenkins went to training camp with the Patriots in 2010 and before joining the practice squad again in 2010.

Totally unconfirmed rumor advisory: Art Kehoe "a very strong candidate" to return to The U. We'll see how this plays out.

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

The whole McDade thing is very silent, what's the deal???

Brissett doesn't really have much interest in us, he's a longshot at best.

The QB coming in will be Weatherford, and hopefully Sousa or Rudock follows up, with maybe Savage as a back-up plan if the kid is really looking at the U as a school he would transfer to.
