Fabulous article!!! Sounds like we are back and in the hunt. I got the chills watching the U Tube videos. Can't wait for football to begin and it sounds like something has changed---all these top notch guys coming to the U.
Love all you guys and sorry I've been away for awhile. They tell me that I had a stroke with the surgery and all those narcotics. Every week though, I get a little bit better. My goal is a national championship and to see the U win with 86 and Mrs. 86.

Ohio_Cane

All we need is 6 stars to emerge, 1 at QB, 1 at RB & 1 at WR. On defense 1 at Dt, 1 at LB & 1 in the secondary.

Posted by: Herbieibis | June 24, 2011 at 02:36 PM
--------------------------------------------

I'll go thru each position with my opinion of who will be that guy.

QB - Jacory Harris. Scoff all you want, J12 haters. With this kid's drive, natural ability, and now correct offensive play calls and coaching, he's gonna shine. We don't need him to shine though, we need him to make good decisions, and I believe he's going to. I said this same thing about 2 months ago, and I'm sticking by it.

RB - Lamar Miller, aka LM6, aka Quick 6, aka Miller Time. I know, I know, Mike James is a beast. 100% true, and he'll help out a ton, but Lamar is the guy. Period. He showed that in a relief role last year as a true freshman, and he showed it even more this year in the Spring Games. Was his 176 yards the defenses fault? Partly. The rest was on his speed, skill, and size. It's gonna be Miller Time all year long!!

WR - This one puzzles me just a little. Why? Because I don't think we're going to throw enough to have a "Star" receiver. We're going to need someone to move the chains on 3rd down. That's a possession receiver. What do I think of when I think possession receiver? Andre Johnson. Who is most like Andre Johnson on this squad? Tommy Streeter. Tall, quick, good hands (working hard on it, from what I hear). He'll be my pre-season pick for "Star" at WR.

DT - Marcus Forston. The kid is a monster. This is the kid that came back to the []_[] because he wanted to win a championship and leave a legacy. Need I say more? This kid could be in the NFL right now, but no, he came back to win. That's all I need to hear about him. He WANTS it. Period.

LB - Sean Spence. I don't have to defend this one do I? I will. Like Forston, could be in the NFLU right now. Could've left, and would've been drafted pretty high. He also WANTS it. Bad. I think his play last year warrants me not bringing that up. Add that he's very intelligent, getting some better coaching on angles (which we all can admit they need work on) and he'll be a 1st rounder next year after a HUGE senior season.

Secondary - Ray Ray Armstrong. I saw it in this kid from the day he announced Miami was in his future. I saw it the day he steam-rolled Demarco Murray (Oklahoma - 2009 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uEE8y3MJ2g). I'll admit, he didn't have the best year last year. Was he in Shannon's "doghouse"? It seemed like it. This kid had too much talent, size, and power to be sitting on the bench for any reason other than to get a breather.

All of this, JMO, of course.

SOUP

It's not Swasey -never was Swasey- that was the problem with the conditioning or workout regime for the kids.

Posted by: Six | June 24, 2011 at 01:16 PM

Stories I could tell...

On one hand you are correct. The strength and conditioning program that Swasey ran under Shannon was not adequate. But if you asked me who was at fault I would have to answer: ALL OF THE ABOVE.

But at the same time on the other hand what Solar says has some merit. It's not like Shannon went to Swasey and said:

"I want my team to be small, weak and tired so we can lose games in the fourth quarter and I can get fired, can U help me out here?"

It would appear that Swasey took it easy on his job and with the players because he could under Shannon.

What I can tell U from people who are at practice and in the weight room at UM is that the game COMPLETELY changed once Golden arrived and continues to improve even today.

Players are individually having to pass VERY difficult conditioning tests/drills after each stage of the new program that has been implemented.

A new day is dawning at The U!

CaneRock

Canechic, you speak in parables. So I'll try to decipher your last 3 parables.

Are you saying that CERTAIN players were lying about eating? Or NOT getting fed?

If they lied about eating, WHY were they not eating?

Are they not eating because they don't get up early enough to eat breakfast?

Are they not getting up early to eat breakfast, because they're up all night and morning partying on SoBe?

Are they up all night and morning on SoBe drinking and smoking?

Are they not getting the benefits of a nutritious breakfast because they're up all night and morning drinking and smoking?

canechic

Honestly cane rock I would not say these kids are constantly partying, I would not even say these are really bad kids but what they are content and laxidasical. They are willing to just skirt by and do the least they have to get by.

My comments are regarding the stories I have heard blaming everyone for the ills of this team over the last couple of months. I know there are quite a few kids who throw many under the bus. They are way to willing to blame another and never take responsibilities for their own actions.

Now hopefully things are changing. It would be nice to see these kids live up to their scholarships and have some pride in their school and most importantly in themselves. I want to see it for myself, don't really trust the judgements of so called "experts".

SOUP

Canechic...are U watching the trial? Can U believe what is going on with the testimony of Cindy and Lee Anthony yesterday and today???

macjones de Albuquerque

Mcgahee is right OGV we did get cheated out of the Ship in 2002, whether they had illegals or not. That was about one the greatest injustices, I've ever seen & we've been snake bit ever since.

Bloody V-O-I-L-A!

Now, this is absolUtely why I don't give a fUc! what that " I played the game " suburban bUbba up in Tampa/St. Pete's has to yap aboUt.

BecaUse Willis is a solid on down, righteous Hurricane who REALLY PLAYED THE GAME, eh! If U-all Cane horde know what I mean.

Matter of fact, I came to the bloody conclUsion many moons ago, that Miami just wasn't the same after that travesty in the Valley of the sUn. Say it ain't so.

It's like the major college football deities been mysteriously putting the jUjU on the Canes since that robbery in Tempe. Get the fUc! outta' here, U bUffonish whimpy limp-wristed wannabe' Miami bandwagon fan.

Bloody oUch. Sounds like a Miami fan is taking a sUbtle hit at the former Miami O-coordinator.

3G Cane

Whipple thought he was sooo much smarter than everyone else, when in fact the only person he outsmarted was himself.

canechic

Soup talk about a whacked out family! I have done something to my back and unfortunately I am laid up watching this train wreck.....I am addicted! I really like Cheney Mason and I am not sure why he is hanging with this Baez character, who by the way received his BA from FSU.

-----------------------------------------

Maybe a miniature one. ;-)

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not just blaming Whipple, but he was part of the problem. Granted, J12 should've made the decision to NOT throw it. I place the blame on everyone from Whipple to Shannon for his bad year, but Jacory is the first to blame.

What I'm saying is, I think with different, more efficient play calls and from what I can see better QB coaching, he won't need to make that decision as often. When he does need to, I think he'll make the right one.

macjones de Albuquerque

Whipple thought he was sooo much smarter than everyone else, when in fact the only person he outsmarted was himself.

Be very, very, very carefUl 3G Cane on what U say in this here Cane forUm.

Well, at least concerning the ex-O-coordinator from the N.F.L.

Otherwise SIX'er and his henchmen will come after U's with pitchforks and machetes, Eh. LMAO

I disagree. He did what he could under RS. He cannot over-ride the HC - if the players are not motivated under the HC what makes you think the strength and conditioning guy can do it? He can't make them want to do it - that has to come from a higher power

macjones de Albuquerque

Ohio Cane still ceases to amaze moi with his sharp Hurricane football knowledge.

I pUt him ahead of the Miami genUis-sp list, along with a few others, in this here Cane forUm regarding football knowlege of the general sort.

Ohio_Cane

Mac - I appreciate that, but I'm no genius. Just a regular Joe who loves these Canes. Just calling em how I see em.

Mac...I agree with U on OhioCane. U think we should nominate him for blogger of the Month?

CIndy Anthony is changing her testimony in her depo to trial to try and save her daughter's life OR she is pathological like Casey - just my opinion

Baez - what can I say - three rings and you could have yourselves a circus with that one

canechic

CGNC you are right! And just because you have a crazy family does not give you the right to kill your child. This whole thing is a joke! Baez is a just well not good. This whole story he came up with is just crazy!
Keep in mind they pulled this jury from a very conservative area. She may not get the death penalty but she is going to jail.

Posted by: CGNC | June 24, 2011 at 04:41 PM

Isn't lying on the stand perjury?

Save her daughters life? U gotta be kidding me!

The same daughter who killed her grandaughter and then dumped her body in the woods and then lied to her family about it and then went out and partied and then had here family spend time looking for her and then accused her father of sexually abusing here and covering up the crime?

THAT daughter? Protect her? It is SO obvious to even the casual observer that her mom and brother were outright LYING in court that it was comical if not so sad.

What has this world come to?

orange 'n green in the vein

Does it make me a bad person that I was at the DMV yesterday while the TV was turned to the local broadcast of the mom's testimony about chlorophyl and chloroform searches on the computer and all I could do was chuckle thinking about Six's entertainment at the large woman falling down trying to make the court observer seat line then sitting there crying while other neck-turning gawkers raced past her to try and win the raffle?

I mean, the kid's dead and it's sad and all regardless of whether her mom was a spoiled nut-job skank who did the deed or just covered it up because her dad got sleazy with her but I couldn't care less either way because, well frankly, I'm not charged by the state to determine which one of the options it is, but for some reason that Six story makes me laugh every single time I think about it. I'm more concerned with who's going to be there sitting at #4 in the NHL draft tonight (offensive defense-man please!) than this trial truthfully.

canechic

No OGV what makes me mad I that if she was not a pretty white girl she would have already reached a plea and be in prison right now.

I am trial junkie and I get sucked in. I watched pretty much everyday of the oj trial. My girlfriends and I were addicted. Yeah I know it is silly just like my housewife addiction. I guess we all have to have a vice!

Big Daddy Cane

Winter Garden (FL) West Orange High School DB Lucas Thompson He lists a top four of Miami, South Carolina, Wisconsin and East Carolina.

MIAMI is 1st with a GREAT chance to land his pledge.
Lucas Thompson vitals: 6-2/190/4.56 and is projected as a safety in D1.

Old Skool

Canesport reporting TE Sean Price

I didn't watch all of it. But what I did see was inconsistencies that the prosecutor was pointing out. I think Cindy Anthony saw this crazy defense unravelling and is now trying to backpeddle. The thought of her losing her grand child and her child would be too much for her. As it would be for most parents.

Casey Anthony reminds me of Diane Downs

canechic

Ok I clarify my tv show housewives addiction. Nick and angry get so mad when I watch it. I have cut it down to just the orange county and Beverly hills ones....I sure I will get bored soon!

canechic

Watching the NHL draft with nick and what are all these guys like 12?

OhioCane

Papa Cane - Confirmation: South Florida captures coveted four-star tight end Sean Price - es.pn/mpuHmJ - Wonder who we will target next? Jackson?

OhioCane

Papa Cane - JUCO TE Blake Jackson, 6'5'' and 235 lbs, visited UM on June 9th. Will he join the U? Very athletic. Great size.

CG
Could be, but you know how I am.
I think it's up to the individual to take matters in his hands and do the best job he is capable of regardless of what his boss or peers are not doing.

I'm just too damn old fashioned I know that.
Times have changed and it's all about The Me anymore.
I hate it for this country more than I can express in words.

This is also the single biggest reason Soup and I are friends.
He believes same as I do there is no excuse for doing less than you are capable of regardless of your circumstance or salary if you are the one that agreed to what you would work for.

I'll take the Art Kehoes over the Swaseys 10 out of 10 times.
jmo on this

solarcane

man these kids are playing their hearts out in this baseball game

OhioCane

Agreed Solar. Great game.

Six

solar - basically what CGNC said

Who says that Swasey maybe didn't mention anything to anyone - why would he go to Shalala anyway?

I think people are taking it a little too far with saying that Boss Man Shannon said he wanted a team that was smaller, etc.

You do what your boss asks of you as a coach - and if Boss Man Shannon had such a problem with the way the players were while he was in charge, like a lot of Cane fans had a problem, then why didn't he address Swasey about it?

The training table and breakfast concern is legit - how do I know? B/c the same guy that told me about the laziness in recruiting that was going on in Miami under Boss Man Shannon, is the same guy that told me about the lack of a real training table ... the same guy I wrote an email to you, 86 and CGNC about - who is at Memphis and helping build that program

Six

ON another note .... can anyone, ANYONE, tell me if there has ever on this blog been 1 jackass so insanely infatuated with another guy like the Cornhusker's b*tch mac is with me?

Seriously, it's worse than a plethora of nut job jealous ex-girlfriends

Mac, you're a moron. Period.

If you really do think that the Canes were "cheated" out of that National Championship against Ohio State - you're more than a moron and you obviously didn't watch the game, or remember it in any sense

Plenty of level headed Canes fans realize that Ohio State was better than the Canes in that game - that 1 bad call by Terry Porter didn't cost them the game

Both I and more than a few Canes fans on here have also brought up several instances in that game that made Ohio State win it and Miami lose it

OhioCane

Virginia and S Carolina headed to the top of the 12th. Still tied 2-2. Great game

canechic

So you really think Randy said Swasey quite bothering doing your job? Really? That says to me Swasey really has no drive of his own. I would never attach my name to a poor work product....if this is true I must say my respect for him goes way down.

Quit ^^^^

solarcane

Six OK I respect you and CG's opinion.
If I agree or not, doesn't matter as long as we are better. Golden has everyone doing what they were supposed to be doing before he ever came along.
It looks like everyone is overachieving now mostly because the guys before them were dogging it for so long.

solarcane

What a badazz baseball game !

canechic

I seriously have no idea how Randy ever coached a successful player at the U. Just don't understand how the canes ever had one successful defense under his watch?

solarcane

canechic that's the point I was trying to make.

Swasey had a sac he would have said, "fk this easy crap, this is wrong, I'm letting The U down, I'm going to make some changes, if Randy likes it or not."
Why be a lazy azz just because people around you are, I'll never stoop to that level as long as I live.

There IT is right there.

I know about Solar's life story. I also know about OcalaCane's life story. U know these guys you respect LIFE.

Nothing is given to you.

You gotta earn it the HARD way.

canechic

I agree Solar and if what Six says is true I really have lost respect for him.

solarcane

thanks soup

and about ocala, you bet 100%

solarcane

you know this game right here is making really start to enjoy watching baseball.

SOUP

Solar U and I know the truth. It's all good.

I could tell you a story about a guy that fell from the fourth floor of a condo construction site and shattered both of his wrists, both ankles and a couple of other bones here and there and spent six months in a hospital.

That guys name is OcalaCane.

He don't complain a day in his life and takes no charity from anybody. Took a risk, started his own business with no money in his pocket. He is just glad to be alive. He goes white water rafting with Canespacers like you and me like no big deal.

Live life, take responsibility, move forward, make your way.

man the Virginia catcher looked like he might clock his pitcher

what a way to pizz a game away.

canesfan5

cc Baez cannot be on this case without chaney mason. Baez does have the qualifications for a death penalty case. Second disagree about the race thing it's a money thing.
Last at least Casey Anothney is getting more out of the court than Lebron James.
