To all the bloggers here and to everyone out there in Canespace I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
After a year that brought about big changes at the University of Miami with the hiring of new head coaches Jim Larranaga and Al Golden, Hurricane fans have a lot to look forward to in 2012.
Now, I know that a few of you somehow managed to be really nice all year long while others were being completely naughty, but all Miami Hurricane fans deserve at least a glimpse at a very special Hurricane Holiday wish list that I have put together for the 2012 season.
- An ACC title in any major sport (baseball, basketball or football).
- A year with no coaching changes and greater continuity at The U.
- A stable and prosperous National and Global economy.
- A baseball team with great pitching, solid defense and a productive offense, but most of all, one that can beat the Florida Gators and the FSU Seminoles on a regular basis.
- A blog world with no haters.
- A National Signing Day that is full of talented players, good students and maybe even a few wonderful unexpected surprises.
- An offense that scores over 30 points per game, can run the ball with power and speed and can pass the ball down the field effectively while being efficient in the red zone.
- A basketball team that plays with good fundamentals: less turnovers, fewer fouls and attacks the boards on both ends of the floor.
- Improved play at QB where the game plan is to win games from the position under center not simply to play not to lose.
- A healthy basketball team that plays hard on defense and can actually run set plays on offense that can score in crunch time instead of the infamous throw it around the perimeter for 25 seconds and then chuck up a three with no time left on the shot clock.
- Pretty cheerleaders wearing orange and green that yell and scream and bounce all around.
- A good time at the Titanic Brewery followed by a fun time at a packed Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field followed by a trip to the College World Series.
- A football team with a defense that is aggressive and attacks their opponent and is much more like a solid brick of sharp cheddar and not so full of holes like aged swiss cheese.
- Hurricane fans that are positive and hopeful and encouraging to their team and each other.
OK, I know I was doing fine right there up until that last wish but hey, a guy can hope, right?
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to U and yours during this festive holiday season.
GO CANES!

All I want is our players to workout like men instead of Zumba and Jazzercise they apparently have been doing

Merry Christmas to all of you; hope holiday is safe, eventful and full of thoughts as to how blessed we all are. Soup, got the shirt, thanks so much. Will award to my MVP.
We won The Hopewell last Sunday 18-12 on the old Raider play "Ghost to the Post". We won first 2 games 24-0 and 30-0. We played Petersburg for the title; they had a couple JV kids playing, 16 or so. We still whipped their ass in the end. So we end the season 12-0 with the Super Bowl title, go 3-0 and win the Hopewell Bowl...15-0 overall.
Last 5 years we go 39-1 in regular season 8 games per season, 5 division titles. 14-1 in playoffs, 3 wins you go to SB,4 National Conference titles (lost out last year to go to SB), 4-0 in SB, 4 SB titles, 6-0 in Hopewell Bowl, 2 plus title game to win it, 2 titles.
Overall 63-2, 5 Southern division titles, 4 National Conference titles, 4 Super Bowl titles, 2 Hopewell Bowls. That has made this Christmas very very thankful and special looking back over 5 years. God has been so good to me. These young men have been unbelievable, and never complain....they just want to win every time. I am blessed with them, and my great family who understands my passion for the game. Thank you all for supporting me through the tough financial times, loss of my Dad, and letting me ramble on about these kids....I am proud of them, and it is their glory, not mine....they do it all so well, and their parents allow me to be there. Merry Christmas!!!!!

Great job Country Azz Cane! Congrats to you and your team!
Posting those kinds of numbers on ANY LEVEL is OUTSTANDING... forget that... flat out UNBELIEVABLE!
Your kids and their parents don't know how lucky they are to have someone like you, with your passion for the game, and your concern for the well being and growth of your players.
YOU should be on the sidelines in Coral Gables dude... AG and our boys could sure use U!
Merry Christmas man... I know your Dad is looking down and is SO proud of you!

Twas the nighht before Christmas and all through the house
Not an Ibis was stirring of even a Gator louse
The Cane stockings were were hung from the Chimney with care
In hopes that an ACC championship would soon be there
The legion were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of VT wins danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my Canespace gear,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the 50 yard line there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my 20 yard line seat to see what was the matter.
Away to the 50 yard line seats I flew like a flash,
Tore open another beer and threw up the U.
The moon of Miami did doth show
The lustre of four and five star recruits below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a pass catching tight end, and a middle linebacker to fear,
With an Al golden high fiver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be a sign on the dotted line with a Bic.
More rapid than Gators getting arrested it came,
And he signed them, and ordered to the weight room by name;
"Now, Hurns! Now, Morris! Now, James and Cleveland!
On, Armstrong! On Chickillo! On, Henderson and Perryman!
To the top of the ACC! to the top of the BCS!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each signing hoof.
As I saw them sign on, and was turning around,
Down the chimney was championships soon to be bound.
They were dressed all in orange, some in green,
They were committed to the U like we have never seen;
A bundle of toys and the Duke as the running back,
And they looked the future just waiting to attack.
Golden's eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of Howard's pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the needs; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

CGNC... We haven't done gifts for Christmas for each other in years. We do Anniversary and Birthday gifts but agreed not to do Christmas gifts about 10 years ago.
We donate to local charities instead for Thanksgiving meals for the needy and Christmas gifts for homeless families and children.
We are greatful for what we have and don't need to exchange presents to prove our love or to celebrate Christmas. It's not the reason for the season!
