The 2011 season comes to a close and the Shortlist to the Superdome finishes with these teams ranked in order of their worthiness for consideration for a championship game invite as such:
LSU, Oklahoma State, Alabama, and Stanford.
Only one team lost a game last week that I didn't call for them to and ends up eliminated at the finish line from the Shortlist to the Superdome in 2011:
1) Houston watches their defense disintigrate before their eyes and can't keep pace with Southern Miss in the CUSA title game as they fall 49-28. For Case Keenum, the record books may belong to him for all to see, but his one that got away will always be one of the biggest true life whopper tales of all time in a devastating slice of poetic justice. It took him six years to secure his place in college football history but ultimately, he ends up with no storybook ending and the coach who signed him to his letter of intent might have coached another player to the Heisman ahead of him as well. It probably is still better than having your career end due to a knee injury sustained while attempting to tackle a UCLA player who picked you off and was running for a touchdown.
Once again, the Shortlist and the BCS just don't see eye to eye for yet another year in a row, with the added irony thrown in this time that apparently the coach of the overrated championship game participant doesn't even agree with the results based on his comments made while coaching his re-matched opponent in New Orleans as well.

While the SEC has their sixth straight national championship already locked up before the title game is even played, the conference's perfect championship game record is also already sullied as well, but not as degraded as the integrity of the regular season conference showdown results that preceded this less than intriguing rematch.
Why the best offense in the toughest conference in college football was not elevated at the eleventh hour to preclude an interest sapping do-over for the crystal football in a similar fashion to what happened at the end of the 2006 season that started the SEC's championship streak eludes me, unless the most tenuous argument is advanced that the 2006 Michigan Wolverines needed late turnovers to even have a chance to make their loss competitive on the road that year while Alabama kept missing field goals at home during their loss in this one.
Reading that logical fallacy of a case only makes even less sense than ever of the motivation for why the voters scheduled the very first BCS championship replay in history. In doing so, the entire system has made a very rich, powerful enemy in energy tycoon and Stillwater Cowboy bank-roller T. Boone Pickens, perhaps a mistake that could prove fatal to the current configuration of providing a championship caliber game utilizing the bowl system, polls and a scoring margin of victory blinded set of computers currently employed to close the system off to only the better half of the SEC in this given year.

If change is forced upon the gate keepers of the big bowl payouts by intervention of representative democracy, not only would it be a laughable waste of elected official time, it would also only highlight how far astray the nation's priorities have managed to veer while sports and entertainment consume the attention of the populace and fiddling rises above the cacophony of warning sirens blaring out over the final dismantling of the worlds last superpower.
Hey, at least a third of the SEC West will find the game exciting though, that ought to keep two of the more cantankerous states calm through the holidays and out of the Occupy movement, right?

We will have MORE new players on the roster and be one of the YOUNGEST teams in the Country next year.
Looks like it could be a tough season again next year barring some surprises from the youngins.
Looks like 2013 before we can contend?

If Hester takes good care of his body he can end up with close to 30 return td's. that is HOF ish right there.

We will have 35 newcomers, I am going to say that maybe 5 of them will be either Juco or guys that are a year removed from HS, but 30 17-18 year old kids will struggle, We have a better schedule next year but I agree with 86, it will take another year for us to get back. The other issue that might help is we will have prob 8-10 EE's and some of them are going to be "not really freshman" lol so that helps. If every ball bounces are way no injuries and we play as good as we can we can win 9 games, if we play as bad as we did this year but with younger players we win 5 games with a better schedule.

I suspect we'll see alot of freshman playing for the next several years until AG gets things settled with the overall team roster.
Great chance for kids to step right in and play from the start.

I think you are right, until Golden's first two classes are upperclassman we are going to struggle around .500
The good think is Golden camp's attention to detail and him winning over the Fla HS coaches will help. These days you recruit kids in 9th and 10th grade, the 5* players takin money to go to the SEC developed relationships with those coaches years ago, Golden did not stand a chance. But now that we move into year two the "state of Miami" coaches and players will start to really trust him and his steady pitch will win them over. I expect our camps this summer to be crazy and us to not only land future 4 adn 5 stars but also he will continue to learn the SFLA area and keep finding 3* Gems like Perryman, AKA Mr Freshman All American.

Leon Searcy on Juniors Leaving: What is it about a 6-6 season which says you're ready for the NFL. Everybody in the league is big, strong, and fast. What seperates the men from the boys is the development of fundamentals, techniques, and work ethics which is essential to you're survival in the NFL. I hate to see kids chase the cash then a few years from now, they can't get a call back from their agent and are told their careers are over. Look, I could have come out my junior year and was projection 1st Rnd. I decided that being a CANE was more important plus I wasn't ready! I needed to develop. If you're a baller, the cash is coming and the NFL is not going anywhere."

U may be right. He did say he's not allowed to talk to underclassmen until after Dec 1st.
He also said Forston and Streeter both decided before the season they were leaving. Weird.

Do you know how we change that? .....Dont go to any games. We have the power, just not the will power. If everyone didn't attend a single game for an entire season, salaries would drop.

CGNC- yes, got out yesterday! It was great until sundown, then got really chilly (for us). We worked on collecting, first time I'd done it and it certainly made the loping and trotting much easier on both of us. Then we did figure 8's while loping, transitioning to a jog before the lead change. What abotu you? Are you able to get out as often as you like this time of year? Thinking I need to buy or lease a horse next year, I enjoy this way too much to only do for an hour a week.
Sorry for the delay in responding- I can't sign in at work anymore (still trying to get around the firewall without getting heat from my employer).
