Monte, his ImPACT test was negative, so here's to hoping he is back sooner rather than later

j.w.

Cowher would be a great pick. Unfortunately, I don't think the Phins know what theyh want- Ross says he wants a young Don Shula, Ireland says he wants someone battle tested and proven. Both think the team is ready to compete now, both talk about finding a franchise QB yet I don't get the impression these guys know if that is someone in the league already (looking at you, Peyton Manning) or someonethey might be able to draft this year (Barkley, Griffin? Bradford?).

He played only two years for the University of Miami, but Hurricanes running back Lamar Miller decided that was enough.

UM confirmed Monday that Miller, who recently completed his redshirt sophomore season, will leave the Hurricanes two years early to enter the 2012 NFL Draft.

The 20-year-old tailback, who in 2011 became the first Hurricane since Willis McGahee in 2002 to surpass 1,000 yards in a season, joins receiver Tommy Streeter and defensive tackle Marcus Forston in leaving Miami early to declare for the draft.

Quarterback Gino Torretta became the second Miami Hurricane to win the Heisman Trophy Award on December 12, 1992. Torretta, a 2010 College Football Hall of Fame inductee, finished the ‘92 season as a unanimous First-Team All-American and took home numerous other awards, including the Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, Maxwell and Walter Camp awards.

Torretta finished his Miami career with eleven school passing records, including career attempts (991), completions (555), yards (7,690), total offense (7,772), longest pass (99 yards to Horace Copeland vs. Arkansas, an NCAA record) and most passing yards in a game (485 vs. San Diego State).

Jeff Godfrey

Godfrey’s dad goes through an entire tirade in the Sentinel’s article if you’re amused by angry parents. Below is just a snippet:

His father began questioning UCF’s play calling during the Knights’ 17-10 loss at FIU.

“Jeff told me he couldn’t check out plays and they kept wanting him to run play action,” Jeff Godfrey Sr. said. “He’d snap the ball and two seconds later he was running for his life. The offensive line wasn’t protecting him and the coaches weren’t doing enough, calling the right plays, to help him win.”

Jeff Godfrey Sr. said the UTEP game was the final straw for his son, who struggled with the decision to walk away from the school and fans he loved. Jeff Godfrey started against the Miners, but he was pulled from the game on the final play of the first quarter and did not return to the lineup.

“My wife couldn’t watch the game and left at halftime,” Jeff Godfrey Sr. said. “I couldn’t believe it. By the time the fourth quarter came, I actually walked down there close the sideline, and my son looked at me. I looked at him, and he said, `Dad, it’s over. It’s a wrap. I can’t deal with this.’”

The quarterback and his father visited O’Leary the next day to discuss the sophomore’s future with the program.

“He told me Jeff couldn’t get the ball down the field,” Jeff Godfrey Sr. said. “That was unbelievable to me. He broke the [Miami-]Dade County passing record in high school, led you to a championship and won the Liberty Bowl and now he can’t pass the ball? Unbelievable. … He said Jeff couldn’t read defenses. He has been reading defenses since the eighth grade.”

1. Losing good people isn't fun, but when some don't and won't follow a few easy rules, what can you do?

2. Kind of like telling people you can't bring your own bottle into a bar, and watching them do just that repeatedly.

3. Other times you gotta ask the folks who get plastered night after night and drive other customers away not to come back, for a while. It's never fun to see people leave, but sometimes you have to do this for the business to survive.

4. In blogland, I've seen many Canes sites fail because a few people drove out the masses, thinking it was "their" place, that eveyrone else existed for their amusement, etc. Believe it or not, canestime was the place to be at one time if you were a Canes fan. Now? Not so much.

5. The twitter updates do keep us informed, I can't check out twitter at work, just like I can't post here during work and the men's basketball team isn't inspiring us. When things get more interesting, things will pick up. Happens every year.

1. U are correct. There are rules everywhere in life, not just here on the blog. People have to learn to deal with it.

2. Exactly.

3. Nail on the head.

4. I have heard several people make that same comment about Canestime.

5. U are correct once again.

WURD ON DA SKRRETZ IZ...

When someone says tireless recruiter, just know that term was made for Al bruh. I aint ever been out when someone from his staff is doing their thing. F n last 2 staffs were like ghosts bruh. A couple of the current coaches I know pretty well and they say Al dont believe in sleep bruh lol. They say Al tells them, we might not get every recruit but ill be damned it would be because we were out worked. Its like this staff takes shifts when it comes to catching those zzzzzzzs lol. The parents of recruits here have all said their bois respect this staff being upfront with them.

SKREETZ WALKIN...

1. Got hit up by a few of your Spacers here giving my thoughts on the underclassmen. The Truth couldnt pass it by. Anything he lacks will be taught to him at NFLU. RBs dont have survive many years so go do his thing.

2. Streets and Boom are going on pure ego. Aint a goon out here thinks its wise. The only other guy that would make it quickly is that boi BWash if moved to guard. No other non senior should leave, just gotta feel RayRay is heading out though. It will take him a few years to make an impact.

3. Chicks surgery I dont think was anything that will effect him too long. If they do hold Hurns out through spring its only because Al is being safe with that pimp. It will give those young pups a chance to shine Al knows what he has with Hurns.

Da U N Houston

Anyone hear that Stoops is thinking of leaving F$U to go to Auburn as their DC???? That would be interesting, b/c a lot of recruits (defensive) are goign to play for him...

It gives me heartburn to see some parents attempt to become celebrities during their child's recruitment. This ain't "Keeping up with the__"

According to Inside The U: "Dexter School 2012 linebacker Abner Logan is a new linebacker target the University of Miami has started to explore."

Now they just need to take the next step and bring that effort to the field

I wish Al would just flatline social media all together.

That kid plans on enrolling(sp) early in a school so thats going to be tough to sway him at this date

Davon Johnson was moved to CB during this past season

If my old man memory serves me correct(which I doubt LOL) CJ played some RB in High School

True.

The beauty of Golden's situation though, is that he can tell basically every recruit, "Hey, guess what, sign with Miami and you'll get immediate playing time."

Sebastian

OL is the one position that a freshmen will really need to be at his very best to start

Maybe they can make it into the 2 deep. The OL is the 1 strength the `Canes have next year

That's what I'm saying. Golden wants to run with 10 OL that can go onto the field when needed. We don't have 10 he's comfortable with, do we? He said we had 6-7 last year.

UMike

D. Johnson confirmed to me on Twitter

Sebastian

I really dont like that OL rotation the `Canes did but im not the coach LOL

Bunche,Wash.,Henderson,Linder,McDermott,Feliciano,Wheeler

A couple on the roster are borderline. The `Canes have 3 commits coming in for next year so I dont know if he will make that a position of need this year

Alabama going hard after some South Fla guys. Deon Bush is one big name on their list

DrewZ2

UM most likely to go after another RB with Lamar gone...Mike Davis just became that more important. Al Golden going after him hard and looks like we have a good shot here.
