Starting to feel a bit like the late 90's when I thought our climb back to the top was going to be seriously delayed due to losing Edge. Little did I know...

86Cane

Yes. He was originally 86 and that remains a "more serious" persona. SOUP is a little bit of a nutcase and has problems being taken seriously by others. lol

THERE IT IS RIGHT THERE!

Smart move by Storm to leave UM...he'd probably be the starter next year.

If he didn't leave on his own he prolly woulda been asked to leave by Golden.

Talent to be a star? YES!

Good attitude and character? Not so much.

The line is one hour. Over or under?

I do head out with him to Mississippi this Sunday for a couple days to visit some schools to talk about concussions so he has no excuse to not go to the games with me

If there was ever a job Jon Gruden should take again in the NFL its possible it would be with the Dolphins

I really dont think any other big name coach will jump at that job

Well... not quite sure what to make of all of the "issues" brought up by Solar.

I for one don't feel this is blog is dead, or just a twitter repost.

By the way, I don't have a Facebook account and still am able to sign in using Typepad... for those complaining about not being able to post.

I DO miss old posters... especially Calvin... he always had a totally unique way of looking at all things Cane football.

I agree, much of the negativity is just frustration at the mighty fall our Canes have suffered over the last few years... as an Alumni, I am not a fair weather fan who comes and goes with wins. I'm a Cane for life.

We start winning... and this blog will light up like a Christmas tree. (The old bandwagon effect.)

And, it's now the offseason, ALWAYS slow times.

No biggie either way, everyone had some good points today on both sides of the issue... that's what blogging is about... making your points and seeing other's points of view as well.

AG has us heading in the right direction... I for one am looking forward with great anticipation to the next few years under his reign.

Seeing as to how this organization has missed on HCs and GMs since The Don retired, I don't have ANY confidence that they'll get this right. I like SOUP's idea of Winston Moss, hopefully this "organization" takes full advantage of the Rooney rules and not just go through the motions of bringing in a minority just to be bringing in a minority.

And PS: Unless Gruden has really changed, I don't want Him as HC. That guy's a QB killer...

Jer

Great post roach. I'm a Cane for life as well. I'll always be here lurking, reading, rarely posting but still enjoying the input from almost everyone that posts here.

Fran

"Fran - I am 10 minutes from you and live in Deltona".
Raize in that case I suggest you call Florida Orthopaedic and ask who does foot and ankel PH 386-774-2500. Their closest office is on North side (not Saxon) of Fish Memorial in the new addition off Harley Strickland accessed at the traffic light. Dr Hollmann is associated with them as is Dr. Reed who just replaced my brother-in-law's total knee.

good luck

DrewZ2

Can't find the link but Perryman earned 1st team and Chickillo earned 2nd team on the rivals all-american freshman team.

Also with all these losses to NFL and transfers that are yet to come, I'm thinking we will be right around 6-6 next year...Any other predictions?

DrewZ2

Recruiting tidbit - Josh Witt (3* OLB) IMO is a big sleeper. Hard nosed kit that loves contact. Looks like once he gets some muscle on him he will be a force.

Montreal_Cane

SOUP what is your take on Drew "Rat Face" Rosenhaus...To me he is all BS...Big mouth and BS. I don't trust this SOB...

I cannot believe he is a UM Alumni...If i were a player i would never go to him for advice....All he seems to care about is to lock in to some players as soon as he can. Not sure he is giving some of the players (juniors) good advices for their own interests...

So the rat face should stay away from the UM Program...I am sure AL Golden doesn't trust or like him....To some he maybe as bad as Nevin Shapiro...For the UM program.

He seems to care only about:$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Montreal_Cane

Very soon we will find out that some UM players made the wrong choice in going pro before their time...I really hope all of them do great but we will see soon enough.

Everett withers to be on Urbans staff eh ? wow.

to be honest we all knew Lamar was leaving be Storm is kicking himself now. next season will be truly rebuiding imo. but we will see a vast improvement

solarcane

Solar...good to see U around. I only wish that if you had something constructive to say about the blog you would email me or call me you have both contact options. But since U decided to go straight to the blog then I will respond here as well.
======================
Thanks soup
The reason I commented on Canespace and not to you through e-mail
and I'll use your format of laying it out for you was:

1 I wasn't directing the reply to you. I was asked to comment here so what I said was typed out exactly the way I said it, by me, nothing added deleted or edited.

2 I know you feel like you are getting stressed from the blog, you chose that burden yourself, many people close to you suggested you take a break or shut it down til next season. If you can't or won't let it go, then you will have to find the strength and wisdom to carry on.

3 The Legion is perpetual, we will go on regardless if Omar, Tom, Mary, Manny or Steven are hosting where we hang our U hats. You know that for a fact, if you take a well deserved break or even retire Canes fans will just move along to the next watering hole, always have always will.
I think in a way that scares you, and it shouldn't. You have done a wonderful job as far as keeping the doors open.
You will be just as important to me if you have a sports blog or you don't, there's a real world out there that we have shared and had a heck of a time enjoying.

At the end of the day Canespace is a good Canes blog.
It isn't a corp with a CEO and staff. It's a great Cane's fan pouring his heart into his blog.
If you tweak a good recipe long enough you eventually change the flavor, some will say it tastes better others will say they liked the original.

3 Matter of fact pb does blog other places and has invited me to join him, as have many others that don't frequent Canespace any longer. I love all the Canespacers present and past, I am enjoying other things at the moment. I don't sit in on any Canes blog as you know from checking out what other blogs are doing.

I came here out of respect to friends I made here that asked me to comment on what I thought was going on. I guess in some way they think You and I still discuss what goes on at the blog.

My best to you Tom, my advice would be, continue to do more with your beautiful wife, don't take the blog quite so serious, keep the sun at your back and your paddles always wet.
Peace

raize lol!, I didn't mention monte, ungar, and a zillion other guys I dig either, it would have been a phonebook.

Thanks to all of you guys that mentioned me,
I'll be around start of next season now and again.

Solar good to hear from you. SOUP is cleaning the Space which should make Canespace a better place to blog for real Canes fans. We will have to be patient once again in 2012 because our team will be so young but full of hope for the future...Al will have a great recruiting class to work with. I wish you the very best Christmas and Holiday season.

JCane

I've been checking in a bit more often the last few weeks, as I love this place and love "recruiting season" when the real season is done (and when the U's last game is done, the season is done as far as I'm concerned!). FWIW, I have enjoyed checking on the updates for recruiting here that Ohio and UMike have been throwing in.

I am sorry to hear of the soap-opera chain of events, and whatever may have caused some excellent posters to head elsewhere. I can say that life has gotten ever busier and that family and work life simply don't permit the time that I used to spend here, even though I miss it and look forward to the periodic look-throughs.

Thanks for what you do and all of your efforts over the years, 86, and best to you, Solar. Happy holidays all.

j.w.

Solar, it is good to see you around, and you seem like your old self again, I'm happy for you.
The enthusiasm is down, but that's more because of crap we can't control such as the record of the team, years of frustration when we thought things would be better, etc. Losing good people isn't fun, but when some don't and won't follow a few easy rules, what can you do? Kind of like telling people you can't bring your own bottle into a bar, and watching them do just that repeatedly. Other times you gotta ask the folks who get plastered night after night and drive other customers away not to come back, for a while. It's never fun to see people leave, but sometimes you have to do this for the business to survive. In blogland, I've seen many Canes sites fail because a few people drove out the masses, thinking it was "their" place, that eveyrone else existed for their amusement, etc. Believe it or not, canestime was the place to be at one time if you were a Canes fan. Now? Not so much.

There isn't much going on at UM before Christmas and after football, and if you ehck out other blogs or sites you'll see the same thing going on as here. We have no drama with our coaches right now, recruiting news isn't breaking daily (and the twitter updates do keep us informed, I can't check out twitter at work, just like I can't post here during work), and the men's basketball team isn't inspiring us. When things get more interesting, things will pick up. Happens every year.

Montreal_Cane

CGNC this is a sad day for the NHL, for the Pens and for the fans...Sid the kid is more to the NHL than Tiger Woods has been to the PGA. Crosby is a very smart guy and he will make the best decision for his future in the NHL or elsewhere based on his health first.

j.w.

Monty- I hear he was out again, is he retiring?

86Cane

Solar...fair enough and thanks for your input. It is appreciated.

Been traveling...anyone know whether the Jedd Fisch to the Gators rumor has any credibility?

USAFCane

Fins should go for Cowher or Fisher, no one else. Do it right for once. With a bit of luck they'll get RGIII, the guy is a stud and absolute class act

j.w.

Texas: no. Just speculation that he would be a good candidate by a couple of journalists

I would love Cowher to coach the Fins. Tired of them being a trainwreck LOL
