"Fans, people don't understand how much work goes into this. Me and Malcolm [Lewis] were out at the park at 11 o'clock at night, battling, doing one-on-ones when the lights of the park went off every night. We lifted weights, ran bleachers when we didn't feel like it. We did sprints with my sprint coach, film studies for three hours every night, plus homework. Then, we woke up and did it all over again. The recruiting process is the easy part. You're just making a choice."
"They say if I don't go to Miami, Miami fans are going to be acting crazy and all that. Or if I don't go to Florida, those guys are going to be mad. I honestly don't care. They really don't know me. They weren't with me when I was there doing all the things I needed to do to get to where am. This is a selfish decision. You have to do what's best for you at the end of the day."

I'll be very surprised if CB Antonio Crawford, 5'11'' and 180 lbs, does not commit to UM this weekend - IMO if he gets offered = Pick UM.

Wish I could be a fly on the wall when Golden talks to TH about coming to Miami this weekend. Would be amazing to listen to.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 26, 2012 at 09:38 AM
Golden and Leniency are supposed to be at PBG high this afternoon. I hope they know its an early release day. Wouldn't look to good showing up and the school was empty.

Golden and kehoe....I hate auto correct.

Not that I've heard of. Maybe a late push? I really don't know a lot about this kid or his recruitment so far.
It seems like a free vacation, honestly, but who knows? Maybe Golden can sway him while he's there. Might just be the risk he's taking.

Per JH Clemons- He is excited to meet Ray Lewis when he comes down this weekend.
Posted by: 3G Cane | January 26, 2012 at 10:51 AM
If Coach Golden has Tracy howard and all those other stud recruits visiting in a week that he knows some ex-hurricane nfl players are gonna be there he is a genius...
Imagine tracy, Darius, And leonard williams meeting Ray lewis and hearing him speak about the U...they will be signed and sealed!!!!

Antonio Crawford from Plant?
I'll be very surprised if he signs with Miami .. then again, if he's promised immediate playing time b/c of depth issues at DB, who knows
Golden needs to get into this area and get more of these kids
Posted by: Six | January 26, 2012 at 11:25 AM
Ray Lewis is going to be there? Sheesh.
That's for sure one extra commit, perhaps 2.
Posted by: LB | January 26, 2012 at 11:26 AM
LB..... thats what im saying man with ray lewis there if he doesnt make you wanna committ to the U than that recruit ahs a serious issue mentally....
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | January 26, 2012 at 11:28 AM
By the way, Greg Schiano supposed to be named Bucs head coach
Hassan - Crow shouldn't even be a 3 star. Without Diomi Roberts and that Countryside OLine, he wouldn't even be rated that high. If you want to push the players in front of you, have someone good enough to scare them about losing their job
Old Skool - UiF has set the standard for hardball in this state when O'Sullivan got there. Canes record is crap against him, esp. in the post-season when it really counts

That's why it surprised me when you said Kehoe wasn't familiar with Pasco County.
IMO, if that's your area as a recruiter, then you should know every nook and cranny of that region.
But then again, Pasco County is one place I WOULDN'T wan't to get stranded in at night because my car broke down.
I remember some years ago my homeboy had me take Him through there to go look at a '64 Impala. And I'll tell you what, I had to turn my high beams on because you couldn't see your hands in front of you it was so dark on this one particular road.
And I don't know what Hillsborough County is like, but I can tell you from living in Polk County, the kids in that area aren't too fond of Dade County kids for whatever reason<<<<<<<<< at least that's the impression that I got when I lived there in the mid-90s...

Lately I have been making inroads with a couple more insiders, another former cane from the area. Tracy Howards does not have a twitter account but his mom does, and if you follow her she just loves soaking up the attn, Tracy wants to come to DA U but his mom loves teh attention, after NSD all that goes away and she finally conceded that, so she is onboard with DA U and I am told he will sign with us but wants to give his mom her shine. Kinda sad but is fairly common these days.
SIX, I agree Crow would be a 1 star or 2 star IMO, he has a good frame and can spin it but he really sprays it too much, Accuracy is VERY important to me in a QB. But he is a hard worker and can get better so who knows where he ends up after a spring and a RS year to get better.
Posted by: Hassan | January 26, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Greg Shiano to the bucs means that Darius hamilton to the Canes!!!!

Posted by: CGNC | January 26, 2012 at 11:58 AM
Shiano going to Bucs, would be sweet but that may only put us in second for Hamilton, with Flo. probably sliding in at one. We'll see what kind of closer Goldie is after this weekend.

I was watching Him throwing it around on YT at a particular camp. And the one thing that I noticed with Him is that He waits for the WR to get there, instead of anticipating when the WR is gonna come out of His break, and then throwing it. In a West Coast Offense, the ball is supposed to be half-way there before the WR even turns around. But IMO, that's something that can be corrected when He gets on campus through reps and film-work...

I hrard lockhart did not pass clearing house. Yrst scores or something. Hope is supposrd to be in but some paperwork stuff still, not official but who knows.

JC Shurburtt - RE: Shiano's departure - The father of four-star offensive tackle Ryan Brodie (Long Branch, N.J.) told me Greg Schiano's departure for the Tampa Bay Bucs affects everything with his son. He recently picked the Scarlet Knights over Connecticut and West Virginia. Miami also was involved to a certain extent.

At least Lockhart has several months to get things in order to arrive in the Summer, if it's simply paperwork.
Schiano's departure could present some new options for several teams, UM included!
Last but not least, CGNC- simple lead changes yesterday for the first time, what a challenge but it was really fun! Flying lead changes are the next hurdle, once I figure this out.

CaneRock - I hear ya on Pasco. There's certain parts up there that seem like Alaska when they only have a few hours of daylight ... let's just say as well that we get the craziest calls to our station from viewers up there. There's a lot of developing though going on up in Pasco esp. on State Road 54. Polk County is known to be just straight redneckish
Surprised me as well with Kehoe about Pasco. I know he should be focused more on the 813/727/941 triangle from Tampa out to Lakeland and down to Sarasota, but Pasco has a few players as well
Posted by: Six | January 26, 2012 at 12:40 PM
CGNC - he won't even come up when you open the door? Your boy sounds spoiled, haha

I like what Coach Golden has done in the 12 months he's been here. We were competitive in every game, instilled some toughness, handled adversity and had to fight through a black cloud of uncertainty, on what sanctions loom. We could of easily been 10-2 but being a coach myself, it's not how you start it's how you finish. The finished product, we won't know for a couple more years. I'd say by 2013, at least we should start to climb back up. I like this class but if we can sway a couple big dogs, i'm defenitely going to be loving it. With 3 QB's coming in, surely we can develop one of them to perform on the level of Dorsey, if not our misery will only continue. Our QB play has not been very good the last 8 years. We've had flashes but that's it! The second thing we really need to get back to, is depth of talent. We used to have talent stock piled and as all of us have seen, our depth is way below the water line, especially on defense. Third, we have to have a dominate De-line again, it sets the tone for the whole defense. It makes our Lb's & CB's look good. As it it stands right now, unless we get some love this coming week, from recruiting, we are still going to be short of dominating talent up front. We have Chick, who I think is going to be dominate but the rest haven't shown to much. We have good coaches but you still need some talent (difference makers) to get you to the next level. Most good teams have the same things in common, One good D-lineman, one good, LB and one good player in the secondary, a Qb that can manage a game and a WR or Rb that is the go to guy. If you think about it out of your 22 starters, we're talking about 6 guys that are head and shoulders, just better players. There the ones that are going to give you a chance to be on a national stage. We probably have 2 players, that have the potential to be defined as difference makers, at this point.

Six - nope - not if we haven't been out in a little while. He knows. And gets mad. If we go and see him regularly, then there is a big greeting. People think horses have no personality but they do - U know that tho
Posted by: CGNC | January 26, 2012 at 01:17 PM
Damn, this Howard kid put FSU on blast:
"Uhhh...I mean I wouldn't say I too much like Tallahassee, you know, it's a party city. You know uhhh, their's some people about business, you know uhhh, they have a lot of coaches with a lot of diversity but you know, it's a lotta partyin' that goes...gooooes around down there...ya' know (picture it in a pimp voice). I'm not to easily influenced but at the same time you know, that's what you're gonna be livin' around, so I'm not to really to sure about that."
Now He had some positive things to say out of that context, but still, if He signs with UF, I can imagine what they'll be playing over the loud-speakers at Doak Campbell next season..."Party Like A Rock Star"!
