Remember all of those years when Wake Forest had some really good basketball teams and seemed to compete for ACC titles almost regularly?
Well unfortunately for the Demon Deacons, this is not one of those years.
Instead it is the consistently improving Miami Hurricane team that is having quite an impressive year under the expert guidance of first year head coach Jim Larranaga.
Miami's record now stands at solid 16-9 with four games remaining on the season which includes an impressive 7-5 Atlantic Coast Conference tally to match.
Today it was F Kenny Kadji and Durand Scott who stepped up as each dropped in 18 points to lead the Hurricanes to a convincing 74-56 victory over the Demon Deacons Saturday afternoon at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables.
Miami put the game away when they scored 13 unanswered points during a 4:29 span early in the second half. Shane "Not Barry" Larkin nailed a 3-pointer with 11:44 left that ended the run and gave Miami a 56-42 advantage they would not relinquish.
Miami outscored Wake Forest 10-4 in the next 3:31 behind consecutive 3-pointers from Kadji and Garrius Adams for a 64-48 lead. Adams was seeing his first action since coming back from knee surgery on January 19th.
Reggie Johnson hit an easy layup with 5:42 remaining to give the Hurricanes an insurmountable 20-point lead at 70-50 and The Fat Lady could be heard humming loudly as she warmed up right behind the Wake Forest bench.
Next up for the Hurricanes are games at struggling Maryland this Tuesday and then a huge game at home against their rival and rising Florida State on Sunday, February 26.

There's no comparison. It's obvious to parents which coach cultivates citizenship.
Muschamp must really believe in the philosophy of negative recruiting. One would think he would have evolved past that.
Happy Saturday night to Hurricane Nation.

What's the story behind Canes pulling offer from NW safety ?

What's the story with Tom taking a morning trolling break to post under multiple IDs on his OWN site in a feeble attempt to create interest? Granted the site has withered to almost nothing but FAKE ID'S ON YOUR OWN SITE?????? But you don't miss any Gator news

Booger...your obessesion with me is so sad and embarrassing and reveals your psychotic (out of touch with reality) behavior and borders on stalking.
For your information Six, Nemo, LB, JW, 4-Real and everyone else who posted last night while I was enjoying some quiet time with my wife are all REAL bloggers.
You really need to get a life and move on and stop embarassing yourself. REALLY.

Hi CGNC! Got a 90 minute lesson yesterday, sore now (30 minutes of posting while collected, followed by 30 minutes of simple lead changes, all the while dodging a beginner.) Hope the rain clears for you tomorrow.

Booger- I have no idea what Soup is doing, but it doesn't sound like him. And the site is doing very well, this is just a long holiday weekend where a lot of people are busy. Stick around through the week, you'll see lots of posts and good updates.
Posted by: j.w. | February 19, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Soup- good to see you refuting this!
Wizard: from what i cna gather, the kid you're talking about (Taylor) nevber really had an offer- Northwestern coaches thought he did, but UM wanted to see more game film before making an official offer. Or maybe a UM coach did make an offer without Golden's knowledge? I think the first explanation is the more likely, but we'll never really know.

Booger...and U want to make accusations about posting under different names? Well guess what? A quick check of your IP address reveals that U are not only Booger but also "Wilbur" and "TurboDawg" and that U are a Gator Troll:

"...makes it even funnier when it's posted by somebody who calls Hurricane fans out for living in the past ..." -horse teeth It's the living in the past and using the past as a reason why you are relevant today that makes people laugh. All that hardware does not translate one iota to what we see today which is a program that has steadily spiraled downward for a decade. ( I tried to use a horrific run-on sentence so you would comprehend, failed).

there are HUNDREDS of kids that SEC teams recruit that go elsewhere. Some of those kids, Miami commits for example, HATE teams like UF. If there was this unbelievable cheating going on, it would have been exposed long ago as one of these kids would blow the whistle. For example, if UF was offering chick money or something enticing (strip clubs, yachts, pool tournaments) do you really believe that he would just let it go? You guys have this utterly absurd perception of the SEC because you are tired of seeing it whip everyone elses ass. Bottom line. Soup, when you post a blog and make a bunch of vague accusations it just makes you look like a hack. Wake up man. Football is religion in the SEC. The ACC? Not so much. It affects the final tally.

Oh and BTW, for the permanent record and for the law enforcement official that I will be contacting, your IP address is:
64.64.11.139
It has been added to the banned list although I am sure you will find another and post again and then be blocked again.
Next time I'll just delete your comments so that U will not get the attention U so desperately desire.
U ARE PATHETIC!

Canes dirt dogs taking care of business with teams they're supposed to - that's a good sign so far

And, the women's hoops team wins, 67-60. Struggled against FSU's zone but when they ahd their opportunities to run they finished well. And our guards are very, very good. This is a fun team to watch, even if you're not normally a women's hoops fan.

Many pundits are saying that David Wilson will wow the scouts at the NFL combine. I bet that Lamar Miller runs a faster 40 and steals the show in Indy.

My girls picked going to the lady Canes hoops game over the Heat, so I got to see the ladies play firsthand today for the first time this season.
First, I've got to say this was quite the deal. The U offered a 1$ ticket for those purchased in advance, although a 3$ processing fee. However, getting 6 tix for 9$ is a steal to see the #6 team in the country, regardless of the fact that it was the ladies playing. Unfortunately, there were still quite a few empty seats. Those who showed were clearly diehards, and although with a bit of sloppy play the ladies showed some athleticism. The guards are clearly the class of the team, especially mixed in with Stroman being out for the season. FSU had two big girls who weren't too coordinated or quick, with one being really tall and thin and the other being really big all the way around. My main critique would be the tendency to pass it around the perimeter way too much without moving around inside and setting up more layups, etc., especially on a day like today when the refs were blowing the whistle if there was any hint of contact. Blowing a ten point lead from the 10 min. to the 5 min. mark of the second half wasn't impressive, but never letting FSU pull ahead after tying and showing good team speed with aggressive D from there never allowed FSU to do anything else the rest of the way.
For those who care, they play Duke (mild upset today by Maryland in Maryland) on 2/24. These three are the class of the ACC, with Miami having beaten Maryland twice already (last time barely and only in the last 2 min), Miami having only lost one time in the ACC (to UNC) and Duke at #5 (before today) having been undefeated in conference play (until today). At 5,6 and 7 rankings going into today, Duke likely to drop a notch and the U playing them in a few days, a win (on the road) would clinch top seed in the conference tnmt, and a win of the ACC tnmt. would likely clinch a #1 seed in the big dance, but this is getting way ahead. They really miss having more depth at forward with Stroman out. Also, I found it quite interesting that Miami beat Maryland a few weeks at Maryland, and Maryland moved up from 8 to 7 that week somehow. How does this happen?
Okay. I'm sure this was the longest post on women's hoops in the hx of the site, but since I attended and made a big deal of it to my two basketball playing girls, I figured I should update here.
