The 12th ranked University of Miami Hurricanes made their first road trip of the season on Wednesday as they traveled to Fort Myers to face the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. The game was played at beautiful Hammond Stadium which also serves as the Spring Training complex of the MLB's Minnesota Twins.
Junior pitcher Steve Ewing guided the Canes to their fourth win of 2012 by pitching seven full innings and allowing only one hit while striking out seven. Ewing was a model of efficiency on Wednesday night, needing only 86 pitches (great number) to get through his overpowering outing.
Catcher Peter "Bam Bam" O'Brien led the way on offense, finishing the game 4-for-5 with a run scored. The Miami Gardens native has been heating up in his past two games, connecting for hits in eight of his last nine at-bats. The senior captain is now hitting .579 on the season as he tears up the competition.
The Canes opened the game's scoring in the fourth inning, beginning with a scorching opposite field O'Brien double over the head of the Eagles' right-fielder. Fellow senior Rony Rodriguez advanced O'Brien to third on a ground-out, while first baseman Brad Feiger helped plate the run with a groundout of his own.
Fieger, who happens to be Canespace blogger Six's favorite player due to his running style, finished the day 1-for-3 with two runs batted in. It was the fourth career multi-RBI game for the sophomore, who was playing in front of family and friends from nearby Naples, FL.
With the Canes holding on to a 3-0 lead, head coach Jim Morris turned to closer E.J. Encinosa for the ninth inning. Encinosa, however, was pulled for health reasons (leg strain or cramp) after allowing a hit and a walk.
A.J. Salcines would enter the stressful situation in relief of Encinosa, earning his first save of the season. But that was not before he loaded the bases but eventually induced a game-ending double play.

I will hook U up when the new 2012 shirts come in!

One thing I will say with confidence is that: SIX IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
At tonight's game, just like last year, we sat right behind, and I mean RIGHT behind the UM dugout at Hammond Stadium. When U see the pics tomorrow U will know what I am talking about.
Last year there was absolutely ZERO coaching going on by Mercadante and Tomas who are now BOTH gone.
This year returning (first year) coach DiMare was all over the team EVERY inning like a glove (pun intended).
More to follow...

El Nuevo...SU-ZA-NAHHHHH!
But Alonzo Highsmith, a former UM star and 14-year scout for the Green Bay Packers, told me he believes the only sure future picks -- meaning they'll end up on an NFL team -- are linebacker Spence and tailback Miller.
"The speed and all that other stuff is awesome, but it still comes down to being a good football player,'' said Highsmith, whose son, A.J. (now up to 201 pounds), started out as a UM quarterback but was converted to a safety. "If it was just speed, anyone off the street could come out and try out for a pro football team. To be a good football player you've got to have a body of work. Guys who have bodies of work and they're good college football players, eight out of 10 times they're going to play well as a pro."

Hopefully Wilder Jr. wasn't planning on being a defense lawyer. I don't think this is a good strategy for getting your client off. (LOL):

Tallahassee, FL --
On February 22, 2012, a Leon County Deputy responded to 415 Chapel Drive #419 in reference to arresting Bianca N. Camarda, 20, on an outstanding capias for failure to appear in court on a Criminal
Mischief charge. The uniformed Deputy made contact with James C. Wilder, 19. Wilder allowed deputies into the apartment in order to search for Camarda. Camarda was located hiding in a bathroom and taken into custody without incident. After placing Camarda in handcuffs, Deputy Donnie Bramblett began escorting her to his marked patrol car.
Wilder then began telling the deputy that Camarda was not going to go to jail. Wilder stepped in between Deputy Bramblett and Camarda and then pushed him. The deputy was able to regain control of the situation by unholstering his taser and advising Wilder that he would be tased if he continued to interfere. Wilder then began yelling obscenities while continuing to say that Camarda was not going to
jail. As soon as Camarda was placed in the patrol car, Wilder was placed under arrest without further incident. Wilder and Camarda were taken to the Leon County Jail.

Jacory will be a workign QB throwing to everyone all 6 days of the combine, Good luck to Jacory hopefully he will impress. Kyle Wright did this he got an NFL tryout from it.
BTW why would Wilder be dating a hood rat with a record? He can get any girl he wants

Yes, I have thought about that and even invited them to the last LIVE chat we had but they were no shows. I do talk to Blu on Twotter fairly often and he is the hardest working man in da bidness. Maybe next time?
Which is a LOT more than I can say about the rest of them. Funny how sports reporters think there job are SOOOOOOO tough and that they are the only ones who work hard. It makes me LOL.

Hassan...good looking out on J12. Best of luck to him and all of the other Canes in the NFLU combine and draft!

The charges against Wilder will be dropped.
I GUARANTEE IT!
Posted by: SOUP | February 23, 2012 at 09:31 AM
Good thing Wilder pulled that stunt in Tallahassee, if it was Miami or Tampa, He'd have two "hot ones in His ass" instead of two felonies.
Posted by: CaneRock | February 23, 2012 at 09:47 AM
Papa Cane - Recruiting Update: Miami has offered TE Christian Morgan, 6'4'' and 244 lbs. Will visit March 5-8, 2012. Offers from Ark, UW, Cal, etc.

It seems like New Jersey is the place to go for those long and lean DEs.
Miami Scout has us as offering 3 D-Linemen from NJ.
Posted by: CaneRock | February 23, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Wilder just EFFF'ed himself if he doesnt make to the NFL because with two felonies charges good luke finding a job.
Posted by: SinisterCane | February 23, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Wilder may be a good player, yet to be seen. As far as judgement, this was a pretty stupid error. See, we really do not need guys like that...book still out on how good he is going to be. Are people really that stupid....
I here Prez Obama is at UM today to speak about gas....says they cannot do much about it. since we are a socialist like country now, why not drop the Federal tax on gas, and require all the state to do the same? Yes it will add to the debt, but hell look where it is now!!!!LOL!!
Posted by: VA Cane | February 23, 2012 at 12:30 PM
Wilder will plead them down to misdemeanors- but give him time, he'll find a way to screw up again.

Off topic but need help =
I have some Hi8 tapes that I took in the mid 90's that I want to covert to DVD. The problem is that I no longer have the same camcorder I used to take the video. I bought a new camcorder around 2000 and it plays everything from then to current fine. But for whatever reason, it won't play the older tapes even though it stil uses the Hi8 format.
Any suggestions on how I can get these older tapes burned to DVD's???
Thanks

Think High is right. Miller may make it but you know how he likes to hesitate, pick and choose....he choose to get punched in the mouth. Needs to learn to run north south right off the bat, full speed. Spence is just a guy who goes all out; he will find a spot somewhere. The other guys have some talent, but think about it....none of them have enough time playing at a high level, and did not dominate competition in any way....lot of supposed potential, but cannot say I ever saw dominance. Now you move up with the very best. I wish them luck. I cannot see J12 even being drafted, if you were in the bigs, would you draft him? Nice kid, good HS player, very average college player.
Posted by: VA Cane | February 23, 2012 at 12:39 PM
So Jacory will be throwing to the DB's and LB's too? He will REALLY impress the scouts with those throws!!
LOL, I had to...
Sorry Jacory, and I hope U and the rest of the Canes do GREAT!!

86 - as long as Fieger gets the job done, it's all good, haha
Nice to hear that Gino was actually doing what his title calls for .. being a "coach"
I just remember how disgusting it was to sit there, while we were watching the Canes play USF (and lose to them) at Steinbrenner Field, wondering where the hell the coaching was ... let alone where the damn Cane players were in the dugout while Miami was either up to bat or in the field
Meanwhile, looking across the field, USF had everyone up on the top step hanging over the railing, Coach Prado was in their ears, etc.
Won't even mention what FSU and UiF looked like later that night when they played - put the Canes to shame

raize - check around on Google or whatever search engine you use or the yellow pages for any kind of video or production type house. Those guys generally have the equipment to convert for a small fee
I just typed in "tampa production house convert vhs to dvd" and these popped up immediately

I agree.
Being that track is so linear,
it seems to take away that change of direction ability that's so important in football.

Kind of a funny quote from Jacory about being a throwing QB at the Combine.
Said Harris: “It’s perfectly fine (throwing to defenders). Because just like everybody else is trying to get an opportunity to go into the NFL, I want to help them. So I am going to throw perfect passes to them so they can have the opportunity to practice their skills
Posted by: Hassan | February 23, 2012 at 04:05 PM
I like Obama as a person, love to shoot some hoops and drink a cold onw w/him. I just do not care for this much government, but its been like this far too long. He is a pretty cool guy overall. Like to see him throw the U!!!!

And even though He's nursing and injuy, I'm still holdin' out hope that Big Reg does a Jimmy Graham and flips to football.
Looking at His footwork pre-injury,
the kid had left or right tackle written all over Him.
I could see why Shannon approached Him to play football...

Big Reg will not be playing FB, learning the OL position takes years, even Seantrel who is bigger then big reg is still not an all american, and Reg would not have enough time to learn a new game. If his knee does not get better he won't play much Basketball either.....
Campbell and Myers are about to sign huge new deals with thier clubs maybe they can send a few bucks down to the U and help out.
Richardson had knee surgery and will not workout at the combine or proday, this gives Truth Miller a big opportunity to shine as the premire back at the Combine, people around his training say he has been running mid 4.3's and Vernon low 4.6's leading up to the combine.

One of the reasons gas prices are so high is because speculation is allowed on oil. That drives the price up or down, mostly up. Not sure why speculation is allowed on such an important commodity (it shouldnt). Its one of the fundamental engines of society and the economy. Remove speculation and you resolve part of the problem of why gas prices are so high IMO.
Very cool of obama to throw up the U.

The Oil market is the biggest fraud going.
There are a lot of reasons why the prices are so high but let's look at the biggest one's.
1. We have been taught Oil is a "fossil fuel" since we were children, that it is the product of teh decay of dinosaur's and plants from millions of years ago. This has been proven false by the Russians as far back as the 1950's and is in fact a substance created deep in the mantle of the earth itself and is therefor far more abdundant then we are lead to believe.
2. Supply and demand have nothing to do with it, Not only do the "expert's" fail to even predict basic's like the demand year in and year out but the supply is not actually known, any given time countries like Iraq and Saudi can turn on the spigots and increase supply if they so choose, Not to mention the U.S EXPORTS 30 million gallons of refined product each DAY!!
3. The markets changed fundamentally a little over 10 years ago crude oil was traditionally traded on the NY mercantile exchange, which was regulated by the SEC, however Goldman Sachs created the I.C.E market HQ'ed in London to go around these laws which has created the entire speculation market on scales we never seen before.
4. The secret stock market known as the Bank of England Nominees trades commodities like oil secretly and world leaders are able to participate provided they keep the status quo BS that we are fed thru the media owned and operated by the 1%. The CIA and other strong arms of the 1% create false media stories like a expected shortage here or there due to__________ attack on whatever said oil infrastructure can create money making opportunities that these 1% can use to manipulate the entire market.
There you have it folks more than you ever wanted to know about how the oil markets really work. 15 years in intelligence you learn a lot about the real world not the Matrix one we are programmed to believe in, back to Canes lol
