As the well known narrative to the now wildly famous post Super Bowl ad goes:
NBC: "Eli Manning, you just won the Super Bowl, where are you going to go?"
Manning: "I'm going to Disney World!"
But if that same question was posed to former Miami Hurricanes Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips who were also a BIG part of the New York Giants Super Bowl winning team you might get a different answer.
NBC: "Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips U just won the Super Bowl, where are U going to go?"
Rolle/Phillips: "We're going back to "The U" to work out under Camp Swasey!"
Former Hurricanes may win the Super Bowl, and maybe even slide by Disney World for a quick visit with their family, but that would only be on their way back to "The U" for Summer work-outs under Swasey.
That is what "The U" family is all about.
Here are the members of the University of Miami's Super Bowl Family:

The only question is who, from The U, has got next?
Will the names Duke Johnson, Tracy Howard, Raphael Kirby, Malcom Lewis, Jelani Hamilton, Danny Dillard, Erick Flowers and Deon Bush one day be mentioned as Super Bowl winners or MVPs?
Maybe a few will, and others will almost certainly not, but really only time will tell...who got next.
First?

Canes in the early top 2 of 2013 OT Marcell Lazard out of NJ. Rivals has him listed at 6'6 293lbs. Already has offers from Michigan, Maryland, USF, Virginia and others
Posted by: UMike | February 08, 2012 at 07:45 AM
This recruit has only played DE in high school, but UM wants him as a DE/LB hybrid player. And he has serious interest in the Canes.

Papa Cane - Check out 2012 UM LB Josh Witt's senior year highlights - Fast, agile, tough, good tackler, great vision. http://ow.ly/8WBJu

LB and UMike, I asked Papa Cane. Waiting for a response. Not sure he'll know this early, but he might.

This is not an attempt to talk about politics, but a true/sad story.... last night my youngest son (2nd grade) had to do a Wax Museum thing where they dressed like famous people, or historic people. My son was President Obama (not a fan favorite here in Tenn, but I dont care)...one of the parents of 2 kids my sons plays basketball with started joking around about it. First he goes, "hey, your suppose to be someone famous, not someone everybody wants to kill"...and I replied "maybe here in Tenn", all in good humor. The guy asked me if we, my wife and I, voted for Obama, and we said yes, and he goes "well your the only people I know who would admit to it"..again..just fun, no biggie. Then later on he has another guy with him and he tells him how we voted for Obama, and then he finally hit us with it... "i had never voted before that election, and I dont know the other guys name, I just voted for the white guy"...while he was still laughing, I just walked away...I am not by any means suggesting people shouldn't have voted for mccain, but that statement was truly sad. This old guy has custody of his 2nd grade twin grandsons, wonder what their gonna grow up thinking about black people?
Posted by: UMike | February 08, 2012 at 09:25 AM
UMike, U think kids learn racism on their own? Nope. Kids learn racism by watching their parents, family members, and close friends.
Those kids will probably, and unfortunately, be racist as well.
I don't know exacly why I'm not, and never have been, but when I think about it, I always think of my dad. He was in the military in Vietnam and one of his best friends, and bunk-mates, was black. He always told me stories of how nice he was and how they did everything together when they were overseas. He always said he would trust him with his life, no matter the situation.
Maybe it's because of that? I dunno really, but it's very possible because I learned it at an early age and still remember those stories to this day.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | February 08, 2012 at 09:32 AM
UMike,
What's really sad is that he made it seem like you were the minority (no pun intended) of the crowd. So if that's the case its not just those twin grandsons, its most of the kids in the room.
I wonder if they celebrate Black History month?
Posted by: Da U N Houston | February 08, 2012 at 09:36 AM
Ohio..I was born in Carol City and raised in Opa-Locka an North Miami...there was no way I could ever be racist lol..I grew up around many black and latino people, my aunt married a black man, it never even crept into my mind.
Da U...I agree...and something else..the kids bball coach is black, and his son is the best kid on the team..and this old man sits with him, roots him, talks to him etc like its all good..but wont vote for a guy simply because he is black
Posted by: UMike | February 08, 2012 at 09:45 AM
Da U...the school does celebrate black history month...later on this guy told his friend "lets go see obama", because every kid had a speech...so i said "yea, he is right there next to Martin Luther King"..which he was..and I think he got the point of where I stood on it

AP Source: Memphis to join Big East http://sns.mx/pojcy0
Looks like Pitt will be in the ACC for 2012-2013.
Last I heard, Pitt was waiting for WVU to be done with the Big East legal stuff. Memphis joining tends to singal that WVU will be in the Big 12, which let's Pitt start right away in the ACC this coming season, I think.

Herbie should be PUMPED. 5 DT offers in the Top 100. Lol
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | February 08, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Felipe- his dad is coach at USF. Supposedly Hargreaves loves UM, and his mother was teasing the UM coach who is recruiting him (can't remember if it's Barrow or not) about making their lives difficult with that offer.
Ohi- as always, appreciate the info on recruiting!
