Rosenhaus was really praising Golden on fighting for the players to get drafted.

And Jedd Fisch.

Even coming from a snake like Rosenhaus, that's great news to me on our current coaching staff.

Recruiting Update: 4-Star QB Kevin Olsen, 6'3'' and 195 lbs, will make his decision in coming weeks. UM, AU, USC and Wisky. Guess? UM.

Did You Know? That UM target 2013 QB Kevin Olsen is rated as the nation's #7 pocket passer and #77 recruit in the ESPN 150 list.

Lamar on his injury on Joe Rose: Injured it his Freshman year and fought thru it since then. He said it came out of socket twice this past season.

I hope the surgery and rehab get him back to 100% or even close to that.

CANESPACE WISHES TO SEND OUR FORMAL AND SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE MIAMI HURRICANES WHO WERE EITHER DRAFTED OR SIGNED AS FREE AGENTS WITH THE NFLU!

SOUP

From Bruce Feldman CBS Sports"

In the wake of NFL Draft week, it's always fascinating to see where touted guys end up their college careers from a pro perspective. No doubt it's a different type of game. Just because the NFL personnel folks weren't sold on Kellen Moore, Case Keenum and Chris Polk doesn't mean those guys weren't outstanding college players. They were.

An intriguing subplot is the production vs. potential dynamic. I went back and looked at the 2009 recruiting class -- guys who would fall into the vaunted Three-and-Out category. That term is often used by coaches in regard to elite talent who on first glance when they go through a training camp have the physical “Wow!” factor. Of course, players can end up Three-and-Outs also because of some character issues or bad judgment, too. The results of this weekend should've hammered that point home quite well.

The 2009 signing class produced seven Three-and-Outs: Two became first-rounders, and both were Bama products: Trent Richardson and Dre Kirkpatrick; one was a second-rounder, LSU WR Reuben Randle; another was a seventh-rounder, K-State via Tennessee RB Bryce Brown (widely touted as the top overall recruit in the class) and three others, ASU LB Vontaze Burfict, McNeese State via Tennessee DB Janzen Jackson and UNC DE Donte Paige-Moss, did not get drafted at all. All three had major character concerns dogging their NFL prospects.

MORE FELDMAN FROM CBS SPORTS:

I doubt anyone would've predicted a few years ago that Florida, the BCS champs in 2009, would not have had a player selected in the first 113 picks or only have two guys taken in the entire draft.

The bulk of this draft class came from the 2008 recruiting class. That year Florida's signing class, ranked No. 3 by Rivals.com, had 16 players ranked as a five- or four-star prospect, a staggering number, especially when you consider that was 16 out of 22 signees. (This isn't one of those cases where cynics can say it's because some SEC powerhouse signed 35 guys.) Over the weekend, only one of those Gator signees, enigmatic CB Janoris Jenkins, by way of North Alabama, was drafted.

By the way, a handful of that celebrated crop still have eligibility left: Frankie Hammond Jr., Omarius Hines, Omar Hunter, Lerentee McCray, Earl Okine and Matt Patchan with only Hunter, Hammon and Patchan listed as starters on the spring two-deep.

Is it me or does anybody else thing that Ojomo well end up have a good career with the Giants?

The What

Very interesting about that 2008 Florida class. Looks like Meyer's whole system was falling apart by having entitled players that never put forth enough effort. If I were an Ohio State fan I would be very worried that immediate success is going to lead to long term turmoil.

Love the fact that the Dolphins and Canes are creating a relationship once again. I think the guys invited to try out for the Dolphins is mostly Al Golden putting in a good word for those guys. I really hope word gets around that Al Golden will not only coach you up but he will bust his tail to make sure NFL teams know your name and give you a serious look.

The man just impresses in so many ways.

I think a team can pick up Jacory. He proved in his final season that he can keep turnovers down and can manage games. I do hope he gets picked up by an NFL team.

I've gotta give Rosenhaus credit. His ability to evade questions and spin is impressive. Not surprising to see how he could convince young men that their dream is guaranteed without seeking the proper guidance.

j.w.

Happy Monday, all. Draft is over, spring practice is over, now it's time for our baseball team to pick it up a notch and get us to Omaha!

UM Center Reggie Johnson returning to UM basketball team for next season.

Bears signed WR Brandon Marshall (from the Dolphins) and drafted WR Alshon Jefferies from South Carolina).

As a result, Devin Hester's role may have changed significantly:

Mike Tice had the "Randy Ratio" while with the Minnesota Vikings. In Chicago, the team's new offensive coordinator will have the "Devin Package." Bears general manager Phil Emery did the naming honors after this weekend's draft while explaining how Devin Hester will fit into the new Bears attack.

"Devin's role has not changed," Emery said. "We see him as a guy that is going to help our receiving corps in a big way. I know that Coach Tice has done a lot of planning. We want to make sure that we have a special plan for Devin, we have the Devin Package, a package of plays as a receiver. You never know where he is going to line up.

I for one am glad the draft is over. I'm tired of hearing about it and ESPN over hyping it like they do with anything pro football. It was great to see some of our players get drafted and a couple got left hanging in the breeze (Forston. Most who didn't get drafted, will get picked up and have a chance to audition for a spot on a roster. If those who left early and to those who are free-agent picks ups, cop the same attitude that they had here, they will be what the NFL truly stands for (NOT FOR LONg). To those players still on the roster and have aspirations of playing pro-football, take a hard look and see what being medocre gets you. Listen to Coach Golden, get bigger, stronger, faster & smarter before entertaining these ideas of granduer! It's great to get drafted but why be a 6TH rd. draft pick when you could of been maybe a one or two, with another year of seasoning. When it comes down to it, it's not so much about chasing a dream, as it is about the loot!

I have a feeling he will. I also was of the belief that Vernon would impress the most out of the UM class that declared for the draft, with the exception of Miller.

Vernon had a knack for simply "making plays" while he was with UM. He had to compete with a former all frosh honoree in MRob and didn't blink and he himself had a great start to his UM career. It's just that in his case, he was able to turn that into a pro career.

Contrary to many who have posted that LM6 "blew it", perhaps he did from the standpoint of the possibility of getting drafted higher next season. However, I have thought that outside of Richardson, Miller is going to the best of this year's NFL RB class and seriously turn some heads.

A lot of folks fell in love with the Boise St back, but I personally did not believe he was a "sure thing" in the NFL. The ACC is not the SEC when it comes to the quality of defenses faced, but it sure as hell is superior to the WAC or MWC or wherever the hell Boise St played.

I liked the Wilson kid from VT, but LM6 just has "it" when it comes to making the big play. The NFL will pose huge challenges he is not used to facing regularly, but just give him a step and he will impress.

I don't have a black and white opinion on if an underclassman should leave early for the NFL, but I certainly do not harbor any ill will towards any of the now ex-Canes who left early. They are not Cub Scouts anymore and it's their life to forge. It will certainly be unfortunate should they not make it, but it is their time to start their life - wherever it will lead - Just like the vast majority of Americans.

I wish each of them the best and do hope they make it.

Purdue. Got a 6th year of eligibility for this coming season.

On potential -

Ask any NFL GM - it's one word you don't want to bank your future on. Just like AG makes his own evals on players to whom he offers schollys, a good NFL GM best have a personnel staff in place that does the same. You can have all the Kiper's, McShay's, Mayock's, etc touting a kids horn, but unless one of them is on your payroll, you best conduct your own due diligence before offering a contract to a player.

In the NFL, unless it is in the player's contract, the money is not guaranteed. Everyone starts out with a clean slate and the players all compete. If you prove yourself, you are going to earn a spot. 7th rounder or 1st rounder - a good GM and coach will make an honest assessment and play the group of players that give the team the best chance of winning.

In short, we shall see what happens. That's why the practices are held and the games are played. Enough of the talk, time to walk the walk.

Best of luck to the now ex-Canes as well as all of the current Canes come August!

I was watching the youtube vid of D.Bush working out and wondered how many if any others was doing the same preparing themselves to become a difference maker. The D.ends is where i have the most concern;T.McCord might have thee most explosive first step i have ever seen from and incoming recruit, but at 220 lb may waredown sooner than later.I hear G.Terry is a beast, but is lighter than TM;also J.Hamliton from the looks of it wont be able to avoid 300 lb.R.Williams and D.Hoilett also are at 220-225,i just don't wanna see A.C. and S.G ware themselves out.Hopefully the scheme is ran better this year starting with D.Smith,C.Porter,L.Robinson and O.Pierre.I can't help but think of that VA.Tech game one defensive stop and the season might have been saved.

Good for him! And great timing, too!

Looks like 3 players from Temple were drafted. I like what one of the guys drafted said that they came in as 2 star players and made it to the NFL due to good coaching and hard work.

I remmeber hearing about that pre, good for CJ. This is a good stepping stone for him, he can learn how to run a team and not have a ton of pressure out of the box from the media or alumni.

TheWhat

7 more players (other than the 3 drafted) from Temple joined NFL teams as Free Agents. Pretty impressive for a school that was kicked out of the Big East and left for dead.

I was just about to post the same.

I was reviewing the lists for Canes and kept coming across Owls!

Let's hope that AG & Co. can coach up the more high profile kids in CG, then we'll have somethin'!

SOUP

TheWhat...Those are good finds but I just want to let U know that U just ruined my next article about Temple and the 2012 NFL draft! Thank U very much.

SOUP

HERE ARE THE FACTS:

The Temple Owls had 3 players drafted and all were among the top 150 in the 2012 NFLU draft (#84, #111 and #138).

Miami had 6 overall and 4 in the top 100 (#72, #86, #97, #100).

FSU had 4 overall and only 2 in the top 150 (#105, #144).

The Gators had only 2 players overall that were drafted and only 1 in the top 150 (#114).

Temple had one player drafted (#84) BEFORE any player from FSU (#105) or UF (#114) were drafted and only 8 spots after Olivier Vernon went to The Fish at #72.

TheWhat

Sorry Soup. I got excited after seeing what Al did at Temple and had to post it lol.

Below is one last link as to what Al Golden faced when he went Temple. My last Temple article I promise.

LB - Kevin Olsen will be a Cane about as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow

Pretty good authority on that ... Kevin said it himself on the air to my friend who does the drive time show in North Carolina, while driving around with Greg

Here's the short version

My Friend: "What are your top 3 schools?"

Kevin: "Miami."

The end. Didn't even mention 2 other schools.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus may be gaining on Ozzie Guillen, Jeff Ireland and Nevin Shapiro as the most hated man in South Florida sports at least when it comes to UM fans.

Ohio_Cane

HEAT WIN!!

Montreal-Cane

...What people have been saying on Twitter and message boards has not been kind to Rosenhaus. The feeling among UM fans is that Rosenhaus sold UM’s underclassmen a bill of goods that cost the players big money and the Hurricanes a chance to have a good season in 2012...

I think Jorge Milian from the Palm Beach Post is right on.

Montreal-Cane

Canes baseball disaster...5 errors so far tonight Virginia about to sweep Jim Morris.
Virginia 7 Miami 2 in the 9th.

Montreal-Cane

Who should be UM next baseball head coach?

SOUP

Monty...all I can say about Rosenhaus is that U don't know the half of it. I will say that he is FOUL and not to be trusted.

hassan

I hope big Reg can regain his form from the year prior and get even better. If he works hard he can regain strength in his leg and get a lil lift back and lose some weight

Montreal-Cane

Miami will get out of the top 25 losing their last 6 games vs ACC teams.

Canes are 3-9 in the last 12 games.
