The University of Miami baseball team took to the field today to begin their quest for the 2012 College World Series in Omaha at the ACC baseball championships held in Greensboro, NC.
Unfortunately, the results were not so good. Miami eventually lost 3-2 to the Wolfpack.
After wasting a brilliant effort from starting pitcher Eric Erickson;
After blowing several excellent scoring chances with men on base;
After leading the entire game until the bottom of the ninth inning;
After Jim Morris changed pitchers more often than Kim Kardashian changes boyfriends;
The University of Miami baseball team lost to North Carolina State in the most awful way.
They walked in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Now, with the season in jeopardy after a brutal and devastating loss, can the Hurricanes recover?
Or do Hurricane fans feel that the 2012 season is just slip sliding away...
First! Listened and hated the result.

76ers just beat the Celts. Big for the Heat. Gives Bosh more time to heal and if the Celts win Game 7, it gives them less time to rest those old bodies.

the NBA gave yall one championship title already

Is it football season yet?
I wait, and wait, and wait... it NEVER seems to get here!
The only baseball I care about is if we win the CWS... otherwise, it's just continued frustration with that squad. (Never been a big baseball fan personally... )
I mean, I WANT them to win, but jeez, we should be WAY better than we are with the talent available.
C'mon Canes!
Oh yeah... and BRING ON THE FOOTBALL!

"Is it football season yet?

I rest my case. That's why people watch the star system in recruiting.
Go Miami.

It seems like Ohio State is what people connotate with UM. A little buzzer is on ESPN.
Win at all costs.
It's an interesting philosophical discussion. Can you win big without being dirty? Has it been done? Is the system set up as such? Or does it take an Al Golden-type to change the culture of NCAA football?

Top 2012 HS Players in PBC according to Jeff Greer from the PBP:

Of the top 15 players in PBC last year Miami landed three of them, UF one and FSU none.

Exactly.
They need some extra revenue to help support the WNBA
The 10s of fans that show up to their games (who aren't either related or who aren't Rosie O'Donnell/Whoopi Goldberg) don't dish out enough revenue to support the league
It is good though for those that play in the WNBA to be some type of role models for little girls though - rather them be that way instead of like any of the reality show females ... Fill In the Blank Housewives of Whatever County .. anything involving P.Hilton/N.Richie/Skankdashian/etc.
But ya, it's still not that great of a product to watch from the sports spectrum of it
Tennis or track and field though - those girls are badass

You can play baseball year round in Florida, unlike most of the other ACC schools and you have way more talent to choose from and yet we can't hit a lick and have stumbled & fumbled our way through another season. What's this 3 years in a row? No way The "U" with the weather and surrounding High School talent, should ever lose 20 games, much less 15. It's time for new blood!
Posted by: herbieibis | May 24, 2012 at 02:09 PM
I thought the title was appopriate. Season isn't over yet but losses like this tend to haunt a team for a while, and it's sad that we've grown to expect things like this.

"Miami Hurricanes" twitter - Deon Bush Starting out at CB per Coach Williams. Someone else on the staff (not Williams) had said he'd start out at safety, but it looks like they're going to do the right thing. This is the best spot for him IMO.... Good sized physical Corner something Miami has been missing for 6 or 7 years... Moving on to Rayshawn just may be a crowd all by himself. I'm expecting him to quietly blow everyone's mind.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | May 24, 2012 at 02:21 PM
If the Canes fail to make it to Omaha it will be four years in a row.
IF they make it through the regionals they will likely end up in Gainesville again for the Super Regional where UM baseball dreams have gone to die the last few years in a row.
Sad, but true.

The 3 strictest (is that a word? LOL) refs are being sent to Game 6 tonight. Should be interesting.
Almost sounds like Stern protecting Wade and James from retaliation.

Ewing pitching for UM against UNC.
Allows a single in the first followed by a double play and a S/O.
UM comin got bat...Perez with a leadoff 2B.
Posted by: CEO | May 24, 2012 at 03:27 PM
Ohio...the NBA refs need to meet with BOTH teams in their lockerooms BEFORE the game and let them know any funny stuff and OUT U go. More people will watch tonight to see what happens between the two teams (fight) than who wins the game. Not good.
Posted by: CEO | May 24, 2012 at 03:29 PM
UM 1, UNC 0 after the first.

Joey Crawford and Mark Davis must be on the case then. I was thinking that would be the deal w/Stern taking pre-emptive action to discourage any Pacer thuggery directed at #6 and #3.

Sorry SOUP... it was a nice title... (just a sad topic, so I guess I overlooked it.)
All you baseball "stat" guys... How many Cane baseball games saw us take the lead first, only to lose it somewhere near the end? (Probably some kind of record this year I'll bet.) I know I don't want to do the research...
Hard to beat Paul Simon for lyrics, eh? (Solarcane would appreciate it I'm sure.)

On a brighter note... Charlotte Co. FL (where I teach) is a high performing District, so we're allowed to set our own school "start dates" each year. We like to get the first semester finished before Christmas so we get started in early August.
What THAT means is SUMMER VACATION FOR ME IS NOW HERE! Kids last day was yesterday, and teachers' last day was today.
Time to sleep in & work on my golf game! WooHoo!

I try to stay away, but they just suck me in...
