GREAT POST.

I was about to summon the Golden Al "we need to man up and start acting like Miami Hurricanes again" speech. No more of this defeatist attitude, acting like we're not the most storied program in the state with the most hardware and accolades. The poor little private school w/o an on campus stadium that rose up to beat the giants of the college football establishment in embarrassing fashion, THIS IS WHO WE ARE SO OWN IT! The most hated yet most watched program in all CFB. Even though we've been down these other clown schools still cant hold our jocks. EMBRACE THE HATE! Let it wash over you and fuel you to dominate.

OK back to work.

BTW CEO, glad to hear you are doing better!

CGNC

Ok what am I missing? Poor fans means poor performance, the fans are soft, the fans need to man up? No. The athletic department needs to straighten out the teams\coaches. To say poor play is directly related to the fans is a BIT much.

RCCF

CGNC if fans dnt give a hoot and expect to lose then the playes will immulate just that....U expect a loss they accept a loss U boo whn they lose BET they wont be as carefree about losing like it or not thtz jus how it goes..or as I say if U not 12%ing why be a fan its fairweather to say oh I expect us to bt 10-2 or 8-4 wht fan realistic or not says tht..

I would like to see an 8 team playoff with the quarter-final games played on the home field of the teams with the best seeding. It also makes more sense to play the semi-final games at a home field, but I can live with the BCS bowl format for the semi and the National Championship games.
Not all fan bases are willing to travel twice during the post season. We can barely get our fan base to travel once in the post season! My two cents! ;-)

Go 'canes!

herbieibis

Look we have no on campus stadium. We have to play in caverness Dolphins stadium that seats probably 75 thou. and here we are with maybe 10,000 students. We're lucky if we put 40,000 in that canyon. As many ships as we have won and the money the school has made by us, skip to my looing all over these universities across the nation how in the hell is it that we don't have a stadium? What is there maybe 2 or 3 schools in the U.S. that don't have on campus stadiums? I wouldn't say we are poor fans, just bitter. Once we learned how to win and win big we became spoiled and just like any spoiled kid we pout when things don't go our way. We all keep thinking this is the year we're going to get back to the top and when we don't we revolt or vent, whichever. Patience isn't a virtue of mine, so it gets old, especially us taking a backseat continually to Va. tech, UNC and the rest of these basketball schools. If you would of told me it would be 8 years and counting with no ACC ship, I'd of said what witches brew you been drinking. Hell we have losing records to Mary, & NC St, since we joined this conference. The only teams that haven't beat us are Wake Florist, & Puke. Why should we at times be poor fans when we expect so much more. I see where Golden's taking us, so for now I'll just keep looking at the horizon because the Suns got to shine on us again some day!

What U are missing is everything! U are personally responsible for Miami losing. That's right, U and people like U are to blame.

Until U learn to man up (oops!) and strap up (hmmm?) and embrace the hate then we will keep losing.

There OK, U got it? GOOD! LOL

Herbie...for the LAST time there is nowhere to put a stadium on the UM campus.

And even if they could find a spot (they cant) Coral Gables Zoning would never clear it.

And there would be no place to park.

And traffic would be horrendous.

Other than that it would be great!

It's about damn time for Miami's players and fans to man up, strap up and fill up a big 'ol bucket of hate and pour it on another team like the sorry azz Seminoles of FSU.

I HATE FSU!

THAT'S RIGHT: I SAID IT!

RCCF,

Exactly!!!! 12% or get you another team is my motto!!!!! Every game both teams have a 50/50 chance, so if both teams have the same chance of winning and anything can happen in a game, why would you expect your team to lose. As the old saying goes "that's why we play the game"

RCCF

12% Willie Will 12%....to U who do it Keep your predictions to yourself We Cane fans Do Not wanna see U predict loses plain and simple we always talk about how it used to be so does not used to be also refer to how U support ie and I knw its a movie but alot of U are like the fan in Major League who expected loses up until the ship was rightd and tht my friends is wrong fyi nobody should have to preppd into expecting greatness out of tht U ask yourself why the 12% isnt 100% thtz a better question.....

Thompson has a Torn Labrum (shoulder tear) and will undergo surgery. He was not going to play as a freshman for the FB team anyways coming this late in the game. He will be fine for BB season.

I HATE every team on our schedule and wake up hating UF.

Hassan

David had a stage 2 SLAP tear in his right shoulder repaired today with arthroscopic surgery.

Hopes that continued rest and therapy would resolve the problem were dashed when the MRI revealed the slap tear in the labrum.

It was a huge shock to David, his family, coaches, etc

Recovery is between 3 and 6 months.

It appears the tear occurred during a practice for the Semper Fi All-American game back in January. It was amazing that he played the entire high school baseball season with the tear.

Depending on his rehab, Thompson will make some practices in the latter part of the season or more likely will focus on being ready for baseball season in January. The goal is to be 100% for baseball.

I loathe any college that has beaten Miami. It takes at least 4 years of blowouts wins by the Canes before those teams can get back onto the just-hate list.

And for those who have inflicted embarassment upon the program - Ohio St (2002), Virginia (2007), Syracuse (1998), LSU (2005) - those teams are on a very, very special list. A few blowouts do not suffice. They must be beaten, and beaten again. With each devestating loss their program must be set back further and further until they are reduced to an afterthought.

That is the attitude that Miami needs to have back.

Expanded and gotten much nicer on campus facilities while getting even more highly regarded as a place of higher education. The Don isn't the place to lament the receding fortunes of the athletic programs, you stop that particular buck at the AD's office door.

RCCF and Willie Will, a pretty fair share of posters on here are alumni, so trying to place blame on those who paid the tuition and chipped in for the athletic scholarship rides offered during their time at UM isn't reasonable and telling them to go find another team is even less feasible. If somebody is taking an unbiased look at a Hurricane team's prospects for the year and doesn't see an easy stroll down an orange and green brick road to a title, you might not want to hear their opinion, but that doesn't mean they don't have a right to post it or that they're any less of a fan of their school for saying so.

The fact that the football team isn't the division favorite right now speaks more to Golden's failure to bring back key players on offense than it does to fan support lacking because a nice fall Saturday in Miami is so much more easily spent doing something more fun than watching a .500% middle of the road college team get seasoned the hard way.

OGV I definitely undstnd where U are coming frm but the bottomline is when the fans start to accept marginal play then the players do as well they play to please themselves and the CANES in the stands and on millions of tvs....Michael Jordan said it best U gotta play every game like there is 1 person in the stands who NEVER saw U play live and they NEED to know U are REALLY the Truth....when the fans in attendance Expect a loss all of that is thrown out the window and marginalism is accepted and warranted remember they are kids they need nurturing jus like kids and when U take that frm them then U have wht we have ....take for instance if TXA&M who has suckd for awhile now accepted marginal play then would they still be selected to move to the SEC even tho record and all suck NO they got that because of past glory and fan support so again OGV I Truly undstnd where U are coming frm but my CANE friend U are Wrong..

Yes i see a disconnect for some reason about this lackadaisical attitude about competition. It used to be that when you stepped on the field there were no more friendly relationships. The other team became the enemy.

I was talking to a Miami fan the other day and we were talking about the Heat. And i was smiling and saying that the deflated the Okies and then in the last game they put it all together and destroyed them. I was laughing..by the look on the guys face it was like i was disrespecting Okie.Screw okie!!

Why is it that winning is no longer relished in? I love the old days when all we did was brag about the U. It was part of the whole culture. We used to live for another championship.

I dont know what it is but people no longer take this stuff personal. They can live in a disconnect from the field to life. Thats just a very boring way to live in my opinion. If your a champion you can walk about with your head held high for real.

You know we used to joke about the guy on the team who was voted caption as if that was a big deal. We just considered that bragging about being the water boy. There used to be a culture of winning in Miami. And when we were not winning we were all miserable and angry. Its time to get back to living on and off the field like winners and being proud of those memories.

The Dude

I favor the 12 team playoff. All 6 major coference champs get in plus 6 at large. Top 4 of rankings get 1st round bye. Next 4 of ranking get home games. Then start the bowls.

The Dude

The attitude of the fan MEANS NOTHING! USC fans are just like Miami fans. USC is rolling right now, Miami is not. Right now the losses dont mean as much so people dont get as angry. Me being more pissed off after the 4-6 games per year we have been losing will NOT make Miami better. When you never lose, the losses matter more. Thats when people will get angry again. What will make Miami when again is coaching up those players into future 1st round picks.

CaneRock

Face it, Miami fans either want to watch a freak show, or they jump the bandwagon when a team has Championship promise:

17-0 Dolphins
Marino Era Dolphins
Heat with Wade and Shaq
Heat with Wade and James
Hurricanes back to back NC appearances
Both Marlins WS titles
Stanley Cup appearance by Panthers

mi@mic@ne

I still get angry when we lose. I put it in perspective but at the same time there is always someone to blame and a reason why we should not accept losing.

But like i said it feels much better to be happy because everyone is our dog. And life is fuller when you know your the one who can talk proudly. Its a culture. Im keeping the amount of time that we are losing because it matters to me.

As a Die Hard Chicago BULLS fan I can all but Assure U the FANS play as much a role in winning as U would obviously never understand and as much as U ride those Okies ask them how much their fans play a role in the Chesapeake....miss me with tht its not the fans IT IS the FANS the kids can only channel so much out of themselves whn the ppl watching are lackluster and waiting or expecting a loss the moral is low on all ends which is automatic to a loss and then its a shock when U win and then when U continue to win U got the "I knew it all along ppl"....if U went to the U then U should knw better lead by example and start by STOPPING in predicting L's....

As a person who has never seen a game up close and personal I would think U take it way more serious than wht is shown on the surface OU sucks if U ask me but their fans NEVER expect to lose OSU sucks but their fans NEVER expect to lose we are the U and our fans predict L's something is wrong with tht and if U cant see tht as alum and superfans all I can say is the 12%Bus will ride on without predict your L's but don't come lookn for salutations when U are proven WRONG....

RCCF, College Station TX fall Saturday =/= Miami FL fall Saturday for things to do. The fans of Miami who are expecting them to lose are the ones not at the stadium on any given game-day so blaming the fans who are die hard and will pay money to watch puzzling 1st and goal with the game on the line play-calling for a set of downs are not the problem. If fan support = championships, OKC would be holding the NBA title instead of barely avoiding a sweep and Notre Dame would have won something in the lifetime of a current NCAA football player.

The Dude

Those fans dont expect to lose because their teams are good. Michigan packs the house every Saturday. I am friends with several Michigan alumns. Trust me, they have been expecting losses for a long time now. Great fan support is one thing, it makes it tough on other teams to win in your house and it puts demands on sports front offices and athletic departments to win and generates a load of money for owners and universities etc. Killing yourself over not winning right away is just not for me bro. Its a game. Like I said, USC is probably the best team in the country going into next year and their fans dont care like say Alabamans or Floridians do. You can win w/o trees dying.

Went from a kid that was barely noticed, to a kid that had all the big schools throwing scholarships his way within a 4 month period (including Miami, which is funny, b/c he goes to Pasco High, the same school I was telling Art Kehoe about when talking to him about former QB Jacob Guy and how he should check him out - and Kehoe asked "where is that again?")

He went from a 1 star to a 4 star within those 4 months b/c of a powerlifting video he put on YouTube. He went from 245 lbs to 270 lbs in that time span. He's a Croc commit (Jacob Guy is also a Croc, he walked on)

"Ted" comes out tomorrow. Can't wait. "Spiderman comes out next week. Can't wait. "Dark Knight Rises" can't come out soon enough - been waiting forevah evah for that.

While that would seem like the general concensus, it may not be the case behind closed doors.

Even so, if that is the case, Golden knows and wouldn't offer unless he's going to offer the other one, or thinks he'll come without the other one.

The What

It was the same thing with that linebacker last year (I forget his name). He wanted a package deal and golden refused due to so many needs.

I'm confused but since when does predicting a loss mean anything other than a fan being realistic. If this were the 2001 class no one would predict a loss. Unfortunately it's not, we are in rebuild mode, lack depth, are very young, have an unproven qb, at best a 4 win offense according to reports from da skreetz, question marks at the o-line and the d-line, question marks at the tight end position. I can go on and on. Predicting losses for a team with the above question marks is not lacking in fandom or being a cane die hard. It's simply being realistic when looking at teams that have less question marks than we do. When a portion of those questions are answered (not all of them) then I like I believe many others on here would go 12-0 and NC all day. But until then i will let my brain do the predicting and not my heart.

From what I've read & heard we aren't taking but one CB. If the sanctions don't come down until after signing day I can't see us taking but one CB, unless we are going to pre-pay our debt.
I think the coaching staff the last few years Dopey was here just got to complacent, stopped working hard and just figured we'd win regardless and it has just snow balled until Golden got here. Changing a culture and attitudes takes a weeding out process, that we probably won't see the full affects of until 2014, just in time to be one of the final 4. So, for at least the next couple of years, we will have to ride the rollercoaster, that is our Miami Hurricanes.

I've read that, but I don't think it's necessarily true. Furthermore, some CB's are actually projected by UM as safeties (which we desperately need: Armstrong, Telemaque, and Swasey are all seniors). There is also a report out there that the sanctions may not strike until after NSD.

I cannot pinpoint the blame on any one person or thing but I can tell U what Da Skreetz said (transalated version):

"These currents (current players) will walk through an opponents warm ups and act like it's a family reunion or something, talkin and huggin with their bois from da hood. Damn straight the ONLY reason a former Cane during my years would walk through another teams warms up and I don't care who it was on the other side was to start a brawl and U better be ready to throw down. I lost more friends from the 305 once they went to another team because orange and green blood and The U family is stronger than any friendship from the past. I hated them bois as much as anyone one else on any other team. Once U strapped the U helmet on it was war and they were the enemy. Plain and simple."

Agree 100% on this. Donna gets a lot of heat from the fans but that is misplaced IMHO. 2. If a ballah puts his decision on needin a full crib to ballout aint what Miami wants. Boiz should come to Miami for the tradition, bein part of a real family and knowin every f n school hates Miami and dont give a f they do. Bein real and not sure fans like hearin this but THE BIGGEST factor is the preperation and respect NFLU shows for Miami ballahs. You get scouts watchin all the time, the greatest to ever gear up come back to get their grind on, other ballahs from the NFL come here to grind.

3. You can walk up to Killah, RawLew, JimmyG, Shock, BMc, Portis, Edge, Dre, Santana, RegWayne, Rolle as well as others and talk to them bout life, the grind and dedication. To f n bad them boiz of the last 5+years listened bout flip and ignored the torture them boiz went through to be great in college.

4. By havin these camps with ex ballahs helpin and showin up at practices to show dap and support the family, these boiz figurin its what you do in grindtime now that leads to greatness at the next level.

5. Some of us goons preachin that HATE anytime we see them boiz. Sh$#, teams want to play Miami now. That HAS TO and WILL change. Even time to get Sebastian The Ibis into some good mascot brawls lol

It's a pity these funds won't be coming from the PSU football budget. Nonetheless, if a restitution/compensation fund gets set up, expect more victims to come forward.

“The university plans to invite victims of Mr. Sandusky’s abuse to participate in a program to facilitate the resolution of claims against the university arising out of Mr. Sandusky’s conduct,” Rodney Erickson, Penn State’s president, said in the statement.

The message seemed obvious: the university wanted to avoid more embarrassment and criticism in civil court for not having done more to identify Sandusky as a threat to children by dealing with his victims “privately, expeditiously and fairly.”

Otherwise, with judgments and appeals, this could go on for years.

3. Al is currently goin through scout, rivals and espn to see who is rated 4 or 5*s and will dump those that arent. How did Miami fans like the way Coker recruited cause thats how that foolie did sh$#.

4. When this boi sayin 4 win O I aint meanin thats all Miami goin to win. Im sayin the O has a very long way to go before the playbook getz opened up. Fisch wants that quick route flowin O with solid runnin game and occasional deepz. Thats a Ryan type O but boi cant have his apple bag shrinkin when pressure is on. Morris needs to tighten up his snap throws and quit puttin the head down and tuck and run. Keep them eyez downfield cause boiz are open.

4. Dewey lookin ite under pressure and is understandin the playbook alot better. Yah, could be a solid future starter, just gotz to get some meat on that skinny azz boi. Crow wont be outworked by anyone, aint scared of competin against anyone. That boi is an intense m fer lol.

Be that as it may, Wilder failed to do what the law asked of him. This morning, he entered a plea in Leon County Court accepting responsibility for his actions. As a result, he will finish his final three days of an 11-day jail sentence and complete two more anger management classes.

Additionally, Wilder’s attorney, Tim Jansen, told the Orlando Sentinel that his client’s probation has been extended to either September or October.

Had Wilder not agreed to the plea, he could have spent another couple of weeks in prison.

“Under the circumstances, he couldn’t afford to just sit in jail and wait; to wait for another hearing,” Jansen said. “It was basically in his best interest to get the case resolved.”

Wilder was initially arrested on a pair of felony charges stemming from an incident that initially began as an attempt by the police to arrest his girlfriend this past February. Wilder pleaded no contest in early April to a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence.
