I should let you know that out of respect to country music legend Willie Nelson I was going to title this blog article: "Mommas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Seminoles". But that would be disrespectful to Willie and so I just couldn't do it.
But seriously what you may not realize is that if a high school athlete really cared about getting a college education (some obviously don't) and if they all knew what I knew about academics and Florida State University then they would have to admit that the blog title is 100% accurate and factually true.
Friend don't let friends go to Florida State.
In fact it could be argued that the words "academics" and "Florida State University" should never appear in the same sentence unless the word "failure" comes right before or after those words.
Now, all I am asking is for if for you to just give me a few minutes to prove it. I did all the research, I crunched all of the numbers and I have to say that what I found left me a little bit shocked at the actual findings and results.
I looked at the NCAA Academic Progress Report Scores for the three major revenue producing men's college sports: football, basketball and baseball. If you are not familiar with the NCAA's APR it is an annual report that measures the year-to-year and four year aggregate academic performance of a university's athletic teams in all intercollegiate sports.
I went to the NCAA web site to research and compare FSU's APR scores in the three major sports with what are considered the four other major universities in Florida (Miami, Florida, Central Florida and South Florida) and all twelve of the Atlantic Coast Conference teams and what I found was basically this:
It was nearly impossible to find one single example in any sport that favored the Seminoles.
I guess if one thing can be said about FSU is that they are consistent. As in consistently bad. But don't take my word for it, just let the numbers and stats do the trash talking for me.
Football: The Seminoles and Dumbo, excuse me Jimbo Fisher, came in dead last in the State of Florida and 10th out of the 12 teams in the ACC.
- The ACC average APR score was 957.
- FSU missed that low water mark by 25 points with a score of 932
- That is just two points above the minimal accepted NCAA score of 930.
- Not surprisingly Duke led the conference in football with a 986 score.
- Miami came in second at 979. The 'Noles trailed Miami by 47 points.
- Even UF (976), UCF (971) and USF (952) scored higher than FSU.
Basketball: The Seminoles and former UM head coach Leonard Hamilton who apparently moved on to easier pickings should be ashamed. FSU did worse in roundball than in football in the APR rankings:
- The ACC average for basketball was 961.
- Miami came in well above that at 975.
- FSU scored a embarrassing 926,the 2nd lowest in the ACC (GT 915).
- Even UF (964), USF (937) and UCF (929) outscored the Seminoles.
Baseball: Finally we get to the Seminoles pride and their celebrated head coach Mike Martin. When you see the final results it is enough to make you choke on your mustard covered hot dog:
- The ACC average was 977.
- Miami came in third in the ACC and scored 989 (Duke 1000, UVA 992).
- FSU came in at 938 and LAST in the ACC (next lowest was MD at 949).
- UF pulled off a 981 and UCF a 980 both below Miami at 989.
These facts beg the question: Why would friends let friends go to FSU?
If true, don't tell me the curse of the 5-Star, has bitten us again! How many in a row is it now? Wright, Moore, Williams, Forston,Youngblood, Armstrong & Henderson, thats just off the top of my head.

I asked 2 players they would not confirm it. I think it is a BS rumor but there could be a element of truth in it, maybe they got in trouble or something? Who knows, I just report the news lol. BTW Josh Witt our Freshman LB is up to 218 lbs so U though is really helping he checked in at 205 this January.

I won't say anything else.

WURD ON DA SKREETZ IZ:
1. Antonio (Crawford), Vernon (Davis) and a little bit of Nate (Dortch) have been used there. The 1st 2 are actually pretty da&@ smooth out there. Nate is too raw in my opinion to see any time there but he does have the skillz. Of course Davon could be a kept at WR but that boi gotz to worry bout even makin the team 1st.
2. Sh$# that boi Deon does it better then any of them but aint no way Al would take that risk lol. Al might be slick but he knows what he has in Deon and hes the key piece to winnin that ACC for the D.

Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Witt is doing much better after sitting out much of Spring ball with a severe concussion from a head on impact in practice.
Posted by: Swami for CEO | June 29, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Witt is a freshman, he was not on the team last year. He is an EE and sat out a lot of spring though.
Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 12:49 PM
I don't know what the big secret is, if their gone there gone. I'd love for it to be a hoax but if true, the way they've both played, at best they would be one year, wonders. It's not like we were going to set the woods on fire this year anyway and it just gives a jump start, with giving kids like Bush & Bunche more PT. Al's cleaning ship and we don't need no more melingerers.

What is well known is that Trel and Ray Ray both have had their issues at Miami. It is very possible one or both could leave, with Trel being more likely than Ray Ray.
So IF it does happen then it does. but I'm not going to confirm or deny the rumor until we have the facts. We don't want to be FIRST (see CNN with FALSE Supreme Court announcment yestreday) we just want to be right.
Posted by: Swami for CEO | June 29, 2012 at 01:34 PM
If true, I'm honestly not surprised at all by Seantrel.
I would be surprised by Ray Ray, considering he decided to come back to try and improve his draft stock.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | June 29, 2012 at 01:34 PM
Ohio...Correct about Ray Ray. He's a Senior so where's he gonna go with the NCAA transfer rules in place?
Posted by: Swami for CEO | June 29, 2012 at 01:35 PM
Hassan...that is actually what I meant to say (about Witt)was he sat out "Spring ball" not last year. My bad, I changed it, good catch.
Posted by: Swami for CEO | June 29, 2012 at 01:39 PM
Maybe he could go the supplemental draft like Pryor

Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 01:40 PM

At this point, I can't see anyone drafting him considering Pryor had a "little" more success in college.
Ray Ray has been off the radar for the most part, except to Canes fans.

Welcome our new track class
Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Amy Deem and the University of Miami track and field program have announced the signing of six student-athletes for the 2012-13 season. The recruiting class consists of three women and three men: Dakota Dailey-Harris (Providence, R.I.), Jameka Glades (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Latecia Philson (New York, N.Y.), JP Friday (Orlando, Fla.), Bert Irigoyen (Miami, Fla.) and TeQuille Jackson (Lancaster, Texas).
Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 01:50 PM
Trel 6'8 350 lbs
Big reg 6'9 329 lbs
Chipotle bill = MAJOR DAMAGE
When you have a BBQ you do not want to invite these two. The sad part is both of these young players are very talented but both have not produced equal to their talent and both have been trouble by injuries and lack of conditioning. Maybe Subway should be the canes new spot instead of Chipotles?
I will give all of my stamps on my loyalty card to coach Swasey and he can give them to the "Dough boys" #77 & 42.

they read wide right and wide left.

my daughter says the FSU kickers practice field goals with a straight pole...so every kick is either wide left or right..
Posted by: SlingBlade | June 29, 2012 at 02:56 PM
3G...none yet and none forthcoming.
There are a few players on the "close watch" program and few others who may be completing some minor internal disciplinary penalties but NOTHING will be certain about ANY player leaving until Golden speaks publicly or it comes from one of the players directly.
Until then it is just another Internet RUMOR that may or may not be true and should probably be ignored until futher notice.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | June 29, 2012 at 04:46 PM
Joe Garcia - Seantrel's not even worth debating. Being a day late from break is no big deal.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | June 29, 2012 at 04:49 PM
Leave it to the ex-intel op to come on here asking about rumors and then an hour and a half later characterize himself reporting those same rumors as news/facts, this is how yellow cake purchase rumors start to get reported as news by old media outlets as a prelude to invading sovereign nations I bet.
If Seantrel can still dunk a basketball, Jim might pick him up if Golden dumps him I hear. I'll be back at 6:30 this evening to characterize this as fact once there's no confirmation of it at all from any sources.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | June 29, 2012 at 04:35 PM
I can confirm this as true.
No names but some internal disciplines are already in place. Interesting fact is that some punishments (running gassers) are actually voted on by the team and all require the player to apologize to the team for letting them down (accountability).
Posted by: Swami for CEO | June 29, 2012 at 05:23 PM
OGV i never once said anything was a fact, i specifically said that it was a rumor and I also said that i did not even believe it. I did however report the news of this rumor, Why are you hating
Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Oh come on Swami, it's a well known fact that when upperclassmen get run off from the program, these things must happen quickly over the span of 72 hours, no more, no less. There's an NCAA bylaw that says you have to have that straw break the camel's back over such a short time and it's not allowed to happen, if it does at all, over small incremental increases in pressure building to dismissal. The fake email and proxy IP are just because the browser auto-filled the input values and they accidentally forgot to turn off their proxy filter before hitting post repeatedly.
Hmm, this non-story or 4-Real's daily recruiting soap opera of verbal commitment intrigue? Help me, I'm actually missing 4-Real getting worked up by a $55 camp scholarship offer compared to this. Can't we just play BC this weekend instead of eight down the line?
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | June 29, 2012 at 05:28 PM
Hassan, I'm not hating on you, calm down with that line, I'm just finding it amusing that you = ex intel op;
then Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 10:56 AM asks about rumors, this is true and obvious but then;
"Who knows, I just report the news lol.
Posted by: Hassan | June 29, 2012 at 12:28 PM"
It is an ironic situation of phrasing that you laughed at yourself over so no attempted stain on your character implied on my part.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | June 29, 2012 at 05:40 PM
Yeah it was just news to me, i figure to put it out there maybe someone would know better. I suspected it was not wholly true but a grain of truth was in it and i think that is what we are now hearing.

In regards to the rumors of the status of senior safety Ray Ray Armstrong and junior offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson, here's what happened:
Armstrong discussed interaction with a booster via Twitter and the coaches have suspended him indefinitely, but as of today he has not been removed from the team. However, this situation should be closely monitored as there is current discussion within the coaching staff about his future with the team.
Armstrong has been in hot water before with the current coaching staff for a similar offense last season as he was suspended for one game during the season for sending a tweet out about being with a personal relations representative, who represents professional players. Armstrong was also suspended by the NCAA at the beginning of the year for four games due to his involvement with former UM booster Nevin Shapiro.
In regards to Henderson, the players were given time off in between first and second summer sessions, but were expected to be back by Tuesday. Henderson arrived a day later on Wednesday and is currently serving a punishment, but is expected to return to the team in the near future.

Report: Ray-Ray suspended; Riley addresses draft, free agency and Heat's future in late-night press conference
Friday afternoon update: UM is declining to comment on an InsideTheU.com report that safety Ray-Ray Armstrong has been suspended indefinitely for communication with a booster on Twitter. UM often comments when a report is inaccurate. Armstrong's father said he doesn't know anything about his son being in trouble.

To ALL of the trolls out there:
1. The lame line of "I read here all the time but do not post very often" is tired, weak and old. It is a dead giveaway.
2. The regulars here all know who posts here and if U just show up "out of the blue" with ONLY negative rumors reported as news that is the second piece of evidence that U are a fraud.
3. For every comment I get to go behind the curtain and see the email addy and the IP addy. If the email addy is fake and gets returned to me as "unsendable" and your IP addy is constantly changing then that is the last straw and U are toast.
U see it is really that simple. We are always here and always on the prowl for spammers and trolls. Your attempts at polluting this blog with false rumors and other nonsense are a waste of your time and completely useless here.
Take your gig to the mass media blogs. The Sun-Sentinel already fixed their issues with trolls but others have not and will not because it is "too much work".
