P.s, didn't I tell all of yall just from observing YouTube highlights that both Malcom & Lockhart is the Reel Deel @ wr?

Morris will be the starting Qb, unless injured and unless he gets Jaboneyitis and forgets the color of his team's jersey, he will remain that way.

I watched Williams at the spring game. After that I knew Morris was better. Williams is SLIGHTLY more accurate & taller. It stops there. Every other edge goes to Morris. Arm strength, athleticism, leadership, in-game experience with the team & against ACC defenses. Not naming Morris the starter yet is to keep him extra motivated & simultaneously pushng for consistancy. Jmo

### Safety: UM isn’t fretting about losing Ray-Ray Armstrong because of a growing confidence in Kacy Rodgers and AJ Highsmith, who have more speed than Armstrong. Even before Armstrong was booted, “AJ and Kacy closed the gap,” D’Onofrio said.

Interesting, I thought the same thing from watching those Spring Game highlights. When Ray-Ray got burned, He got BURNT!!! I'll take PLAYMAKING speed all day...

The fact that Golden said he'll name a starting QB around August 9th lets me know he already made the decision.

And I believe that's Morris.

LB

"Kid couldn't go a month without getting arrested at AUBURN. How long U think he would've lasted in Miami?!? LOL"

Probably a little longer than a Super Bowl ad.

"U have to ask yourself who knows more about football, u or a AFC scout? Morris hasnt dun anything wrong like some people make it seem. He had a great freshman year considering the circumstances; he was expected to red shirt so he didnt get any practice reps until after the virginia game, do u know how critical that is for a freshman qb? And people act like he shouldnt be throwing int's, he was a freshman without any reps, i guarantee peyton manning probably threw more than he did. And last year those two int's against maryland wasnt his fault, all the analyst were saying after the game that he should be the starting qb going forward"

Oh, Morris vs. Williams?

I absolutely don't claim to know more than an AFC scout...

(why do people assume I'm more than just an a-hole)

...I absolutely see your point about Morris, and there are a ton of positives about him. First of all, his completion percentage jumped almost 17 points from 2010 to 2011 (I don't think the fewer throws matter). He's got a big arm and extends plays. He also has experience and can coach his players.

But, there are some drawbacks. He's 6'2" to Williams's 6'6". Morris's career TD to INT ratio is 7 to 11 (and I don't mean the store). And it has been said often that Williams is the more accurate of the two.

It's pretty much dead even. Both have starting experience. Both played well on underachieving teams. I'm not choosing Williams to be contrarian. I choose accuracy over arm strength. Always will. I'd rather take 7 to 8 yards as a certainty than a 40 yard bomb with a chance of a pick.

I am in the DISTINCT minority on this and I know that.

Heck, there are some who think Mr. Crow will be the man (cough).

Though please don't think me on drugs and say that Williams is the next Dorsey. Comparing players to previous stars is ridiculous. However, if Morris is the starter... I will no problem with it and I shall get on board.

Jedd Fisch is the reason. He reinvented Jacory Harris and made him arguably the biggest comeback story of 2011 by adding 10 completion percentage points and improved the TD/INT ration from 14/15 to 20/9. That's impressive by any standard.

And many stated that Morris was the better QB.

Willie Will in Nashville

LB,

Oregon and their weak conferance is over rated every year so beating them doesnt say much to me.

And this:

Police official demands inquiry into FSU player's tweets

Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher is not the only person bothered by one of his player's posts about killing police officers on Twitter.

The president of Florida's Fraternal Order of Police, James W. Preston, has sent a letter to FSU President Eric Barron and athletic director Randy Spetman demanding that the university investigate and discipline the football player who made a post on the social networking site about killing police officers.

The player, sophomore defensive back Tyler Hunter of Valdosta, Ga., posted several times during an online rant after he was pulled over and issued a ticket in Tallahassee. In one of the tweets, he quoted a rap lyric: "We need to do like Cali n***** and kill cops."

Shortly after Hunter's tweets became public, Fisher told his team to stop using Twitter until further notice. Then at ACC Kickoff in late July, Fisher said he was leaning toward banning players from the site until January so that they could focus on the football season.

In his July 31 letter, Preston took exception to that statement, saying it, "falls far too short for the seriousness of the incident. Inaction by the Athletic Department, by default, condones such outrageous behavior."

Preston went on to note that in 2011, Florida lost 13 on-duty law enforcement officers. And three more have died as a result of gunfire this year.

"Mr. Hunter has made explicit public threats against police officers on his 'twitter' social media account advocating the public assassination of police officers," Preston wrote. "For Tyler Hunter to suggest that citizens take to the streets to murder police officers should cause all law abiding citizens deep concerns. ...

"Dr. Barron, I have attended far too many law enforcement funerals over the years and looked into the faces of the survivors and families left behind to mourn a senseless loss. For a Florida State University Football player to publically advocate the murder of police officers is outrageous and hateful. His disparaging language was racist, provocative and violent in an attempt to incite others to violence."

I know one thing, the sooner we get these dam sanctions over with, the better I'll start to feel. If this keeps dragging out it will cost us some much needed fire power. Bryant is starting to look a little shakey and is probably going to kill our chances with Thomas. We need this resolved for better or worse.

herbieibis

It only took them 2 weeks to figure out Reid, was a legend in his own mind.
Yes he was a 5 * and if you had 10 of them at least 3 or 4 never pan out but i'll take those 6 or 7 that do. USC has so many, they don't miss a beat when a couple flop and they will drop a bit next year with a new QB at the helm but they will still be loaded with talent but depth will start to catch up with them because of ship rductions.

"He's more than everybody thinks. I don't get y all these recruits r running to this idiot, I've done more as a college football coach than him and I have 0yrs experience lol."

Supply and demand, I suppose. They have arguably the best QB in the nation, a descent schedule, and offensive weapons to match. People want to play for the hot hand. Expect a dropoff after Barkley graduates.

As for Kiffin the coach, he did go 8-5 and 10-2 under sanctions. He also beat the Ducks on the road. Regardless of personal preference, that's impressive. Recruiting 5 stars will earn a lot of bloated press, but it's winning in lunatic environments like in blazed up Eugene that earns you respect.

----------------
Back to your regularly scheduled news (via previous link):

Three of the four DL are penciled in (Smith, Porter, Chickillo) and one DE spot is open (McCord/Hamilton/R. Williams). I know how highly McCord and Hamilton are viewed. How about Ricardo?

Perryman, Buchanan, and Gaines will probably start (with Kirby and Paul as reserves), and E. Johnson and Cornelius as third down support.

Corner has the usual suspects (McGee, Finnie, Gunter, Howard, Hope, Davis, Dortch). Telemaque finished well. What surprised me was that both Rodgers & Highsmith are faster than Armstrong. Add in Bush ready to choke the life out of the starters, and safety doesn't look bad.

Morris > Williams. I don't buy that, but if Morris's accuracy is improved...

Mike James is the favorite to start... and there was much rejoicing. Duke & Dallas seem to be too special not to get a bunch of touches.

Hurns, Scott, and speed demon Dorsett will start at WR (with Lockhart and Lewis in the 5-man rotation).

Bunche & Henderson at tackle, McDermott at center, Linder at right guard. Feliciano, J. Johnson, & J. Lewis in a battle for left guard.

pre83

I'm not sold on USC yet. For whatever reason, be it Pete or Lane, they seem to always find a way to lose a pivotal game.

As well, their conf would be irrelevant in recent years if not for Oregon and Stanford with Luck at QB. And Oregon needs to get the memo that it takes TWO units to win a game as its defense is hardly top tier.

That being said, wouldn't that be something having the BCS deal with the perception that a sanctioned team should be playing in the title game. I hate the BCS and would love to see how that would all go down.

UM assesses state of its defense; Dolphins training camp notes; Marlins, Heat

The most dominant UM defenses were run-stuffing, ball-hawking machines, with a knack for forcing turnovers. Coach Al Golden and coordinator Mark D’Onofrio want to construct that type of unit, but it’s going to take time, considering UM lost Sean Spence and four key linemen and now must break in a talented freshman class.

Here’s the good news: Only 17 of 120 teams allowed fewer points per game than UM’s 20.1 last season. UM was a respectable 45th in average yards allowed (359).

But here’s the problem: Not enough game-changing plays. UM’s six interceptions were the nation’s 10th-fewest and tied with Duke for worst in the conference, well behind North Carolina State’s 27. This has been a problem much of the past five years here, and it must change.

Also, 70 teams recovered more fumbles than UM’s nine. And UM recovered 40.9 percent of the opponent’s 22 fumbles -- 91st in the country.

“This spring, we were stripping balls better, making interceptions better, than any point since I’ve been here,” D’Onofrio said. Before 2011, “the defenses I’ve coached had takeaways in high numbers.” Assessing UM’s defense, with practice starting Friday:

I think Golden has the Canes on the right track. Barry Jackson had some good stuff on the Canes offense and defense. Freshmen will play and contribute, and the upperclassmen will make an impact. I like what I am hearing.

WindyCane-Forecast1

### UM offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said “what we’re going to do on offense is going to be special.” Problem is, the Canes lost an elite tailback, their top receiver and two key offensive linemen from a unit that finished 70th of 120 teams in total yards and 63rd in scoring (26.5). Plus, they’re breaking in a new quarterback.
### UM had 398 rushes and 339 passes last season, but one official who spoke to Hurricanes coaches expects the Canes to throw and spread the field a bit more. That would take advantage of their personnel, provided Stephen Morris plays at peak efficiency and the offensive line finally plays to its potential.
### One AFC scout who has watched both players said Morris is a much better quarterback than Ryan Williams and added: "If you have to play Williams, you’re not going to win many games.” It would be shocking if Morris is not the starter.

On Monday, the class of 2014 standout linebacker named Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State as his three "finalists." While his signing day is nearly 20 months away, the fact that he went out of his way to make the distinction that these are not only three favorites, but the finalists, means that he could be nearing a decision.

Michael is listed as the 5th best inside linebacker in the country for the class of 2014 as well as the 5th overall prospect from Ohio by 247Sports. Michael already holds over 20 offers.

Buckley redshirted last season at Penn State, so he'll have four years of eligibility left.

"The opportunity to come here and play at my state university, so close to home, was something that I couldn't pass up," Buckley said in the statement that made no mention of the scandal.

Other Nittany Lions appear to be at least looking around among them Penn State star running back Silas Redd is strongly leaning toward transferring to USC, sources told ESPN's Joe Schad.

Redd left Los Angeles on Monday after spending lots of time with Trojans quarterback Matt Barkley and wide receiver Robert Woods over the weekend, according to the sources.

Papa Cane - Mackenro Alexander commits to FSU, but the school might not want him so his status is in limbo? I guess Mackensie did not commit with him.

4-Real

Mackenroe Alexander commits 2 FSU. Mackensie is sure 2 follow.

Another arrest under Urban Meyer

Running back Bri'onte Dunn was one of the stars of Urban Meyer's first recruiting class at Ohio State this year, but Dunn might have to wait a bit longer before actually seeing the field in an Ohio State uniform.

Dunn was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia Saturday night.

According to the police, Dunn was pulled over after nearly hitting a patrol car on Saturday.

Inside the car police found less than 200 grams of marijuana and a marijuana pipe. Along with the drug citations, Dunn was also hit with citations for not wearing a seat belt and a tail-light violation.

Ohio State has not made an official statement about the case as it continues to gather all the facts. Still, given the punishment handed out to Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort -- both players were suspended indefinitely and removed from their scholarships for obstructing official business -- along with Storm Klein being dismissed from the team for a domestic violence arrest, it would not be surprising to see Dunn be hit with a suspension.

Which would further complicate things for an Ohio State team that's starting to get a bit thin at running back.

Dunn suspension would leave Ohio State with only Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith as backs with playing experience.

If the guy had only gone on the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland, he would have known better. Disney's jungle guides warn passengers to keep their hands and feet inside the boat because the alligators are always looking for a handout.
