Maybe we can swap Ray Ray for A.C. Leonard, he's transferring from the Gaturds.

dadesfynest83

JB...that's a safe assumption to make. Just got back from honeymooning, haven't posted in what seems like forever...that wedding planning's no joke.

Thank God it's only once

UpNorth
Did you say Dante Phillips to Tenn?

Ohio_Cane

Ray Ray was NOT voted out by players. However, Seantrel was voted IN to stay with the team by the players.

Obviously, Seantrel's issue isn't with the NCAA. Ray Ray's is.

Hey star-gazers... USC just got ANOTHER 4*. This time it's S Max Redfield

UMike I feel for you. I wish I could offer advice from my experience (I've been there), but every case is different. Things do get better. And deals will eventually get done.
Sometimes it just takes longer than you would like.

curseofthe5star

Hey Ohio, If we got enough of those 4 & 5 stars like USC, we could stand the loss of a couple here or there. Those dudes still have another year of 10 ship losses to go through.

UpNorthCane27

Stars or not USC recruiting is pretty impressive, California is a hotbed for recruits.... I thought brendan Carroll would have his hand in that pot a lil more....... Maybe after this undefeated season the hurricanes are about to go on we will.......

Curseofthe5star........Thats what im reading about Dante Phillips it looks like hes almost assured about going to UT

That's what I saw also.

curseofthe5star

UpNorth,
That sure was a quick turnaround from Monday. Hadn't heard him even mention Tenn.
Speaking of Ray Ray, If the dude has some probs with the NCAA, it's not going to matter to much, if he transfers, if it's bad enough he'll be sitting again wherever he's at or he could do what A.J. did last year and just get his degree.

86Cane

Curse...hence the release by UM that he can transfer anywhere he wants. May not be easy playing anywhere IF there are NCAA elgibility issues that follow him wherever he goes. BIG IF?

Agreed, not good at all.
Thanks for all the feedback on the blog, everyone! First attempt at doing something like this and I had no idea how it would turn out.

Just read on the volsquest about Phillips. I don't know what the big deal about him getting down here is. here's a chance to scoop a huge dude 6'4 325 and we got butter fingers, going to slip on through. I've been trying to get Big Al to listen to the Herb about getting bigger DT's. I know he hears me, he just ain't listening.

herbieibis

Whatever Ray Ray did , he had not been with the team since the end of June & had not been enrolled in the second semester of Summer school, all this according to a source who had talked with Heather Dinich.

CaneRock

Ray Ray will go the way of Janoris Jenkins to Northern Alabama, that way He won't have to sit out a year. Good luck to Him, and hope to see Him in next year's draft.

Man, don't post for a few days and all the big stuff starts happening while you're gone! So to take it all in the order it's going down;

solarcane back on Canespace doing solarcane things! Hope you have been well Ralph since you took your sabbatical and hope your lego stop motion masterpiece is coming along nicely for you. All you new guys take note, solar is in the 'Space ring of honor for a reason, and not just because he designed those shirts some of you are wearing.

j.w., while I might not agree with even the premise of this article, since Al's, "standard," of comparison is a piss poor standard for excellence by any measure and as the gobblers aren't even a rivalry to me, still, it's a well written blog feature and a fun read, even if SJMPARMAN did a medium sized take-down of it that was informative in its own right less than four hours after it was posted up here.

CaneRock, I'm blushing, lol! I'm sure that since BlacksBurg = another B.B., it means that this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQbRoTgG1c4&feature=player_detailpage
summarizes your feelings on the matter in an eloquent, yet metaphoric way? Slightly better than Bill Dooley, now your winning-est coach at the FBS level. Isn't that a larf and a half?

Finally, farewell Aravious Armstrong, your presence will be sorely missed as the best level of an already questionable defense from a personnel standpoint just took a major hit by losing its best player before the season. Guess D'No is going to have to fetch some decent play-calls a lot more often now, he should definitely be up to that challenge this year, right? What do you mean he's complaining louder than ever about how the least experienced team in the ACC just got that much less experienced instead? I swear, guy has a freaking excuse handy for that toast sandwich he calls a backside at any given moment in time.

BEERicane

This makes me sad. RR was one of my favorite players, but unfortunately, his head isn't on straight. Good riddance to bad seeds, I guess.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | July 18, 2012 at 12:24 PM

Apparently Ohio is a receiver running routes against the Canes and love to get wide open when RayRay is on "coverage." Sorry, Ohio, your stats just went down with anyone besides RayRay out there for the canes.

MAJOR upgrade over the worst safety in the history of the game. AJ Highsmith should have played more than him last yr.

LB

Via Papa:

Danny Dillard may not get in due to grades.

"5 QBs, 4 RBs, 1 FB, 10 WRs, 5 TEs, 14 OLs, 9 DTs, 9 DEs, 7 OLBs, 3 MLBs, 5 S's, 8 CBs, 2 Ks & 1 P." 84.

So...

QB- Morris, Williams, Dewey, Crow, Thompson
TB- James, Clements, Crawford, Duke
FB- Hagens
WR- Hurns, Dorsett, Scott, Lewis, Lockhart, Waters, Carter, Jones, Thompkins, _____?
TE- Cleveland, Walford, Perry, Dye, White
OL- Bunche, Feliciano, McDermott, Linder, Henderson, Flowers, Gadbois, Isidora, J. Johnson, Jones, Lewis, Lopez, Wells, Wheeler
DL- Briscoe, Cain, Chickillo, Green, Grimble, Hamilton, Hoilet, Ivery, King, McCord, Moore, O'Donnell, Pierre, Porter, Robinson, D. Smith, Ricardo, _____?
LB- Armbrister, Blue, Buchanan, Cornelius, Gaines, E. Johnson, Kirby, Paul, Perryman, Terry, Witt (one too many)
DB- Bush, Crawford, Davis, Dortch, Finnie, Gunter, Highsmith, Hope, Howard, Jenkins, D. Johnson, McGee, Rodgers, Telemaque (one too many)
K- Wieclaw, Goudis
P- Autobots

I think I have the numbers right. Papa's position chart may be different than what's listed on the official site.

YES!, that about sums up my feelings for those SUCKAS in Wackassburg. I can't stand those Muh-uh-effas! Although I think this version of PHUCK EM'! is a lil' more eloquent.

I thought Dillard is waiting on a test score, not grades? Or did he get his score and it was too low for the grades he currently has?

+10 I like it! That is why we are here!

Now do you think the sanctions will be worst because of Ray Ray???

LB

Sorry about bogging down the Space, just trying to make sense of it all.

Now 1 scholarship is free.

Graduations (not counting transfers/early draft):
QB- No subtractions, +1 (Olsen)
K- Wieclaw
P- Botts (we have got to replace these specialists)
RB- James, at least +2 (Collins, Lewis, possibly one more if Dillard doesn't come)
WR- No subtractions, at least +2 (Jean-Louis, silent)
TE- No subtractions, +2 (Dobard, T. Johnson)
OL- Lewis, Jones, +3 (Gall, Kerr, silent)
DL- D. Smith, at least +1 (Bryant)
LB- Buchanan, at least +1 (silent)
DB- McGee, D. Johnson, Telemaque, at least +3 (silent, silent, silent)

I'm off here and there, but I have the fair idea close.

We're getting around 18-20 scholarship players in 2013?

LB

I went to Blacksburg when Jacory and crew got spanked by halftime. It rained like hell, and I left before halftime.

My experience may have been different than most others, but most of the fans were VERY friendly. The Enter Sandman entrance was nice to be around once.

WVU fans are completely the other way. They are awful, especially to visitors. It's a black hole of epicness.

LB

"Stars or not USC recruiting is pretty impressive, California is a hotbed for recruits.... I thought brendan Carroll would have his hand in that pot a lil more"

Give it time. Golden already got his hands in OH, NJ, GA, LA, PA, AL, NV, and specialists from CA (Goudis/Botts).

I'd rather have the south Florida base than California. California is larger mass wise, but south Florida is more focused. Talent is everywhere. That's why it drives me nuts about stargazers. Awesome players are everywhere... and based on Skreetz's observation from camp, life is only getting better.

I'd take Gabe Terry over Latwan Anderson anyday.

CaneRock, I met Kid in 2002 at this place called Dublin's Irish Pub on the Sunset Strip after watching a Hurricane's football game there, he was at the bar just chilling and was real nice to chat with for a little while. We barely even talked his career, just that I thought he was a funny actor basically and he thanked me for saying so, he said he always liked the Hurricanes and of course the swag they played with back in the decade of dominance. I asked him what he was doing in an Irish pub as one of the House Party guys from Kid 'n Play would be one of the last celebrities I'd expect to see in there getting an Irish beer, of course he told me his mom had been Irish, before Wikipedia you actually had to have prior have known these things with more than just a Google name search on your smartphone and I had no clue where his light side of his heritage came from beforehand.

BEER, by "favorite player", that doesn't translate to "best player". Just means I invested in him as a fan since he was in high school, and hoped he'd turn out to be the superstar he was supposed to be. Obviously that never happened. If my "stock goes down" for that, so be it.

Montreal-Cane

Via Daily Dot:

Florida State University sophomore defensive back Tyler Hunter took park in the latter last Friday after getting pulled over on Tallahassee's Tennessee Street for making an illegal turn and wearing his seatbelt incorrectly.

Unhappy with the altercation, Hunter took to Twitter to express his feelings about the dustup. In doing so, he posted a few tweets that he'd probably like to have back.

After tweeting a few lines of bravado, Hunter wrote, "We need to do like Cali n****s and kill cops," an obvious oversight that will likely earn him a few laps around the training facility this summer...

Man I hate to hear Ray Ray is gone but he got Hurtt before he even arrived and had trouble from then on, best of luck.

Umike, my hope is you sell your business for 95K and then have unbeleivable make-up sex.

Go Canes!!!

TonyCane

Can Ray Ray go play anywhere this year, or does he have to go the I-AA route?

Best of luck to Armstrong...I was really looking forward to seeing how he would have done in his final year,

TonyCane

Six, that looks like Batman. If he had attended the University of Miami.

UpNorthCane27

Ohio_Cane dont even bother with Beericane he always has to give his negative two cents on someones post.... I underrstand what you mean about RAY RAY as i also invested in him as a fan i remember watching the Under Armour game and waiting for him to pick the U and when he did i was ecstatic i said to myself a safety whos 6"4 and can fly and hit reminds me of my all time favorite cane ST .... Unfortunatley it didnt work out and all signs indicated he was working hard and ready to turn the page football wise....

ohio,
you sound exactly the way I felt about Thearon Collier I loved watching him play.
after it didn't work for him at The U he transfered to USC then to his current school Western Alabama.

I hope Armstrong matures and does well where ever he ends up.

solarcane

OGV,
I just got to readin the space again a couple weeks ago, and I still chuckle at your unique way of describing your perspective of things. I'm glad you are here.

j.w.

Thanks, OGV! SJMP is a good guy and has an opinion that is as worthy as anyone's, and I appreciated his comments as well. Hey, it's football, we're having fun with a topic that I'm sure we've been on the receiving end more than once, so it's all good.

Ohio_Cane

Solar, I hear U bro.

As a fan, U can get emotionally invested in a player for whatever reason. Be it skill, speed, persona, etc. It can even make U defend them no matter what. I defended RR from day 1 with the hype, then sanctions, then bad play. But like anyone else, they only get so many chances with me. His last chance was when he got suspended last year.

I'm sad to see him go, but I do hope he does something great wherever he goes or whatever he does.

Won't be surprised to see him playing on Sundays, and I'll call him a Pro Cane when/if he is.

86Cane

Solar...I know U have been busy but have U had any time for kayaking and fishing lately?

Oh and BTW...Any plans to attend a UM game this year?

solarcane

six,
I know you need a quick snack fix at the station every now and again

check this stuff out when you get a chance

Cousin Willie's White Chedder microwave popcorn, hit it up with a sprinkle of Tony C's Creole seasoning and tell me what you think.

solarcane

soup,
I have paddled around a bit in the
Chattahoochee , a little in the Chestatee both within ten minutes of the house.
I haven't been kayaking in anything as glorious as the Chattooga as you skool and ocala can likely understand why.

GT and Duke would be the games closest to travel to. I'm thinking GT its only an hour away

billb

Seantrel better know that the next bong he lights up is gonna be shoved up his big fat ### by Big Al.

WindyCane-Forecast1

Sorry to hear about Ray Ray. I hope Bowden takes him at N. Ala. and he makes it into the draft. Ray Ray just could not stay out of trouble. The young Canes team just got a little younger next year.

UMike

After watching ray ray in the state title game against mnw..what he did....I was positive he was a star...but... Lol
